Zhou Yaqin (CHN) 7.2 D-Score! Hardest Balance Beam Routine in the World!

- Опубліковано 21 тра 2024
- The current world balance beam silver medallist, Zhou Yaqin, has upgraded her D-score to 7.2! She gains 1.7 points from connections and bonus! This is the most difficult balance beam routine in the world, even more difficult than Simone Biles!
Who do you think she will medal at this year's Olympics?
What's even more exciting than a 7.2 D score is her precise and near-flawless execution.
Very much so.
It's going to be an exciting Olympics, especially event finals. Much as I love Simone's gymnastics, it is great to see other people from around the world coming up with high difficulty and beautiful execution. Zhou and Nemour for example will be so exciting to watch.
"it is great to see other people from around the world coming up with high difficulty and beautiful execution." ABSOLUTELY!
all because of Simone Biles remember that
I’m just wondering whether Simone is still qualified for TUE? I cannot find that information on internet. Thanks
@@frankyang7364 Not sure if she still qualifies for TUE but in an interview some time ago she had said she has been off her ADHD medication since 2017 I think.
I see so many comments about how Simone should step away and give the other gymnasts a chance. This why I always answer with a resounding NO. Seeing is believing, and Simone has risen the level of the sport and given younger girls a new bar to rise too, and given other athletes the confidence to speak out about their mental health. I’ll miss Simone when she retires, but the sport will rise to new heights in her wake.
She’s so elegant on the beam! The balletic training is evident.
The artistry is on point, and
OMG this young lady is MINING THE CODE for difficulty
So awesome! 🎉🎉
Difficult, elegant and graceful. Nothing but respect (esp. since I sometimes have trouble just walking on the FLOOR) 🤣
How!? I was screaming through the entire routine. Absolutely amazing!
Holy cow, this is so smooth, like no fumbling whatsoever 🤗
That side somi to tuck jump and straight jump is EVERYTHING and she makes it look simple! I look forward to seeing this routine again in Paris!
It’s one of my favorite parts of the routine 🩵
Wow. Incredible . This will be hard to beat
Yep especially if she gets all her connections which is the only thing I think will be a challenge for her as the routine is heavily reliant on them and international judges are notorious for nitpicking at that.
Absolutely gorgeous routine. She also makes it look very artistic and flowing!
If she hits her routine like this, even with that big step on the dismount, she will win regardless how well anyone else does 😅
Ah, no!
@lindaselander9602 Ah yes, who could beat this exact performance? 🧐
@@Zarumaans you know, Simone?
🙄 What a st**id question...I'd rather ask you, do you know Simone's D score on this event? Even if Simone hits her routine, her E score is not gonna be better than Zhou's immaculate execution here. And given that Zhou has a much higher D score 7.2, she wins. Dismissed 👋
@@lindaselander9602 this is what happens when americans watch NBC for gymnastics coverage. it's all narrative, no facts.
That is the most beautiful routine ive ever seen in my life!! Wow
Bummer on the dismount, but dang ~ not even a bobble or balance check! 🔥🔥🔥
Incredible, so well connected. Your annotations are also very helpful for beginner watchers too. Thank you!
Ok WHAT THE HECK this is crazily underrated, insane difficulty and phenomenal execution on literally every skill, world class and super fluid connections, especially the switch 1/2 to Korbut.
Most entertaining and beautiful beam I have ever seen! She's fantastic!
Wow, she has exactly the amount of momentum she needs for each skill, no more, no less. So there's no overbalancing and everything flows. Beautiful!
Flawless, elegant, smooth. A beauty to watch
Really good but no big jumps like the other girls do.
Absolutely a very right comment, not everyone can be like elegant and smooth that for me as a viewer gymnastics’ most important elements I enjoy to watch. In my opinion Biles is not close to look like this smooth and elegant.
@@ilkyazugur8672I’d beg to differ. Simone routine is pretty smooth and efficient. No wasted movement.
All the positive adjectives thrown at this beam routine. That was so satisfying to watch.
that is an amazing routine! hope she hits all the connections in the olympics. worthy of gold medal
I miss Yang Bo‘s Leap on the beam. Her legs were straight, so graceful like a ballerina.
Can she beat Simone on beam? That's an unequivocal yes. Will she? That is what remains to be seen!
IMO she has at least a 0.4 E score advantage with how clean and "unhurried" her skills are. 7.2 vs 6.5 with cleaner E means she can have a fall and still have a shot at winning.
OF COURSE she can beat Simone. It is the ONE apparatus on which Simone has won much that she can be bested on by the Chinese and that is a fact.
Yeah , Simone is def beatable on beam . But that is the beauty of the all around ❤
@@DW11111 the Chinese are very inconsistent, you kn that as much as I do
@@ghofraneoueslati7258 which is why i mentioned having a fall and only having a shot at winning.
Switch ring was gorgeous!
Her execution is amazing!!! Only the wolf jump and the dismount were less than stellar. I love Sanne’s routines so of course I really liked the turns in this routine!
Fascinating!
She's like doing twice even thrice other gymnasts do on balance beam! Very well done!
I think regardless of D score, the one who is consistent on the day of the event will win. The problem with connections is if you miss then you’ll lose more points whether it be D or E.
This is what I love about gymnastics! There are so many ways to display difficulty. It's the Nastia VS Shawn scenario. Two incredible gymnasts with wildly different skill sets. It leads to enjoyable match ups, sparks conversations (gets a few people butt hurt 🤭) and I think that's amazing! Watching the same basic routine over and over again is dull and lack luster. It's like the vaulting rotation of the all arounds. Simone does her incredible insanity, then 25 DTYs and one rudy. 😴
I want to see more specialists and unique routines! Come on, fig! Let's change up some rules!
I agree with you the FIG is hidebound. The best coaches & gymnasts manage to wring some creativity out of the code.
I love her arm movements 😊
Wow. Talk about PRECISION! She's amazing!
She is the queen of connections, so let's get plenty of bonus from these ! This is a great routine construction for her, as long as she is precise like this, she is the best.
She's a beautiful beam worker.
Looks like she is performing on the group not a little beam. Amazing
So nice to watch !!
That routine was absolutely stunning! Does anyone know what she scored?
the absolute favorite
Nice combinations.
I especially love her beautifully pointed feet I never see that in Simone's routines, difficult as they are.
Stunning. The Chinese are great on beam but one thing that they usually lack especially now in days is a good rhythm. They always pause pretty obviously before s big skill..which is most of them . And yes , it pays off their x os out of this world. But , that is the only thing wrong . Beautiful
It’s okay to have difficult moves or harder tricks in a routine but, it’s called a balance beam for a reason. This routine is everything a judge should be looking for Execution, Elegance, Gracefulness, with the WOW !!! Factor.
It's very beautiful but she isn't going to get credit for some of it. Like the side Somi into tuck jump full into straight jump full. She'll get credit for linking the jumps but there was too much of a pause after the side Somi. It's truly hard to link a side skill out of a side Somi beause the the sheer nature of the landing being in a bent leg.
it'll still be a big score. tbh, the chinese have maybe the 2 best beam workers going into the olympics. i forget the other girl's name. people talk about bars, but beam is gonna be tough this year too.
qiu qiyuan
She's gotten the connection credited internationally multiple times, but it's also the connection that she doesn't get credited for most often as well. It's risky but still worth it
Zhao is so tiny she makes the beam look extra long !! And what a marvellous routine. It will quite a showdown at Paris '24 !!
IF she hits like that, she is olympic champion without a doubt
but that’s a huge if :(
Wow! I never saw this befoe
Splendor
Flawless on the beam.
She has better balance on the beam than me in the floor
Love her🎉
In Portuguese-Brazil we say “babado!!!”
Can't imagine China not having a good gymnast.
Wow. That was so pretty
Muito forte mesmo , se acertar é ouro certo, primeiro que a Simone não pretende aumentar a dificuldade da trave dela, afinal já é uma das mais difíceis do mundo, segundo que qualquer 8 que ela tire em execução já vai pra casa dos 15
The one who is the cleanest with fewest deductions that day will win ;-) lol
Very smooth routine but she doesn’t have enough to bear simone on beam in my view
I agree Zhou Yaqin's balance beam is spectacular and her ballet alignment and flexibility is beautiful to watch. Must remember that Simone downgraded her balance beam in 2020 and earned the bronze medal in that event.
What does S.B. Mean?
wow
Isnt the first connection a front walkover into a front flip...asking bec someone said a aerial walkover but it looks like a front walkover to me?
It's technically a front handspring, but everyone does it as a (fast) front walkover and it gets credited as a front handspring.
@@Mhochul thanks for clarification.
Simone Biles always looks like she is having fun and makes it look so easy. Yes, this gymnastic did some difficult moves, but it looked like it was challenging her. But I do wish all the gymnastics at the Paris Olympics, all the best!
The coach screaming at her is so distracting. Makes me feel bad for her having to deal with that.
If she had a more interesting mount it would be like nastia liukin days!
Is there not a more graceful way for her to get back to her feet? Seemed out of place with the rest of the routine.
Does anyone know what her score was for this exercise?
15.233
What does she have to do to beat Rebecca Andrade, who apparently won the bb gold medal at the 2023 world championships? Let us see Andrade's bb routine. Z. Yaquin isn't achieving precise position on her ring leaps, thus, creating areas of deduction for the judges. They took every deduction. Her turn combo is a big strength. Her coach is working the code. Imo acrobatic elements are more complex than leaps except for this routine. Her coach is amazing too.
Simone won the gold, not Rebecca. Yaquin won silver and Rebecca won bronze. The Gold medalist usually stands in the center, with the silver medalist on her right and the bronze medalist on her left, just like on the podium.
Too bad she has such a simple mount compared to Sunisa Lee's.
Zhou's routine is jam packed she doesn't need a difficult mount. Suni needs a more difficult bb dismount. BB finals is going to be an event if all of them do what they are capable of doing.
My only criticism of ZYQ is that her choreo is awful and her connections are just a little slow.
Gold Zhou, silver Qiu and bronze Biles, I guess.
this would be my order if everyone is clean, no mistakes. maybe simone will show more difficulty.
that will be 3 bb olympic bronze in a row for Biles lol.
@@jf2602 the first one she just f'd up. i'm sure it hurt to lose to sane wevers. lol.
siiií !!
let's not forget Sunisa. Her beam routine is higher rated than Simone's is and if she nails it she will be on the beam podium.
I think China will be gold all over this year. Our girls don't have enough difficulty or form
Once Simone hits her Biles 2 vault (double piked Yurchenko) China will be forced to play major catch up. Then Biles and Sunisa's beam routines will further separate the US from China.
Who are 'our girls?'
Beautiful and unique routine, but unfortunately her execution will take a hammering from those non-choreographed steps and pauses.
AI or not to AI . . not even Shakespeare . . 🤷♀️
Not surprised if others win Gold for this event. BB isnt really Biles’ focus area or perhaps an event she likes most, just enough for her to be among the top scorers that helps her aa a formidable champion in AA
Simone Biles is a beam boss, she's defending an Olympic bronze medal on bb. Its a strength for her. UB is the event she most dislikes. Rebecca Andrade is world champion on BB. Sunisa Lee is the defending Olympic gold medal champion on bb and she is elegant & beautiful on bb. She will be in Paris to defend her title. Zhou may have difficulty but, the field will be more than the Great Simone Biles. Sanne Wevers is also an Olympic gold medal champion on bb & very artistic. Paris will be jam pack with great gymnasts. May the best girl win!
@@JaniceLThinker Suni ok, but Paris will be harder for her given current stamina and competition.
Simone, Zhou/ Qiu, and perhaps Rebecca will fight for Gold. Have the feelings the Chinese will triumph but anything can happen. Exciting time nevertheless,

Most likely will choke at the Olympics.
LOL what a great supporter you are! 🙄🙄🤡🤡🤡
I don't like her routine at all
There were a lot of pauses in between the elements but she got the points fir connection values when they were not connected. Her legs were bent in some moves (e.g. the cartwheels). It was just a very ugly routine with little flow to earn points.
Who’s routine do you prefer?
Vai tratorar a Biles na trave se continuar assim
Yang Bo was better!!!
I hate to say this but Simone's beam routine is so boring and the same one she's done forever. I love this routine as it has a lot of great moves and is way better than Simone's.
Her switch ring leap should be downgraded, her foot never gets close to the crown of her head
Let me guess….she is terrible at vault 😅
Yes she can. Biles is not that good on the bean
FOR REAL, Simone is DEFINITELY not good on *BEAN* but on BEAM she is a 4time world champion, 2 time Worlds bronze medalist as well as a two time OLYMPIC bronze medalist. Together, she has more medals on this apparatus than ANY LIVING gymnast( male of female)has on this or ANY OTHER APPARATUS. Let that sink in for a bit so you will understand why she is NOT GOOD on *BEAN* .
While I tend to feel that her uneven bar's skills and scores are overrated, this bb performance is simply out of this world.
The problem for you is you couldn’t even distinguish between Zhou yaqin and Qiu qiyuan just show how disrespectful you are, i understand this wasn’t intentional but please try to do some research before you comment
do you have her confused with someone else? maybe qiu qiyuan who is the reigning ub world gold medalist who also has a very good bb routine? zhou yaqin is not known for bars lol. seems like you confused two chinese gymnasts
She's got a gorgeous routine, but her ring jumps are so ugly.
ur mom
@@rmxevbio5889 Yes, I have one.
I don’t think she hits the position fully, but to call them ugly??? That’s a bit much. Not everyone can be Flavia Saraiva.
@sagemoonchild333 given that everything else she does is so elegant, yes.
Zhou's jumps are gorgeous. The ring leaps are lovely even if the gymnast doesn't achieve precise position with the foot touching the head. She is lovely and still has time to perfect her ring technique then, she will be exquisite.
The Americans put too much focus on the power moves and “diverse” body types. We need more girls like this who are quick on their feet graceful. We will get silver again if we only rely on Simone to hold up the team. Thinking that girls like Jordan Chiles who moves slower than molasses on uneven bars, and cannot create the same lines, are going to get us gold is going to bite us.
Ok. So get more 'girls like this' and get what for team final? The Chinese have ALWAYS had *GIRLS* LIKE THIS who are quite 'graceful and 'quick on their feet' but for all that they have not been able to win a team medal in so many years because *GIRLS LIKE THIS* can't vault or do a medal worthy routine on floor. The US has for a LONG time blended the lithe and supple with the robust and powerful to create the BEST TEAM and that is why they have been so successful.
When they MOVED AWAY from their traditional strength of vault and floor they ended up with a team that was heavily reliant on Simone to win team gold and that FAILED. This time around would be different. Let China bring their ' *GIRLS* like this' and the US will bring their WOMEN and we will see how it will end.
Her routine does not have difficult skills others have much more difficult skills her extra points all come from connecting 3 or 4 skills together. Its a manipulation of the system. She doesnt deserve gold
Isn’t connecting 3 or 4 skills itself hard and risky? Otherwise why not everyone do it to “manipulate” the system?
@@haoruolei4720 Indeed, connecting skills is very difficult to do especially in my view, on beam. The judging for connections on beam is SO strict that I think she is not going to get any where near this score if she does not pace these connections a bit faster. Having said that, it is a beautiful routine.
Suni has a better chance than Simone at UB.... but CHINA is too good for USA at this time. It's gonna be a crazy fun Olympics!!
Simone does not have ANY chance on UB. If Suni makes the US team she most likely will qualify ahead of Simone along with Shilese for Bars. Simone does not have any business with a bars medal unless those who are expected to qualify do not and even then she will have to rely on others falling or making big mistakes to even get a medal. This is the case with OTHERS and Simone when it comes to AA, VAULT and FLOOR.
@@aliciamcdonald7105people said that in the last olympics, but if simone would have competed in the UB final (which she did qualify to) and hit a clean routine, she would’ve medaled.
@@cy_lanix130 Ok. Since Tokyo, the 'anything can happen' phrase has been used a lot on here I loathe to do the same, but the reality is something would 'need to happen' for her to even QUALIFY for the finals let alone medal. Would I love a bars medal for her? SURE! But what I would like to see happen and what is more likely to happen are two different things and I would not want any of the top bar workers to fall or something like that in order for Simone to get a medal.
If she gets in there because her routine was cleanly done with the best possible execution and others weren't (not falling as such but missing a connection here or there) then that is fine by me.
@@aliciamcdonald7105 Okay as much as I agree with you that Simone would 100% not medal on bars but she's actually qualified to UB finals multiple times. At worlds last year, she was the only one to qualify for all finals
@@nmixx.changeupletsgo All that you have said is true but what I am looking at is the possibility of Suni making the team. If she does is because she will have a very strong bars routine that is of the 6-5+ rating. As such Simone will most likely (if neither Shilese or Suni messes up big time) get 2 per country eliminated.
But biles will get the higher score because she is American. USA gymnasts get extra point on everything they do
Not really
