That backflip with a full twist that Shawn Johnson did is insane. I’d be totally impressed to see a gymnast do that on the floor. Doing it on a beam is next level.
her routine was beautiful, but saying it's more "artistic" than a routine like shawn johnson's which focused more on her power seems far too narrow minded. Artistry comes from the combination of technical skill, strength, fluidity, and complex stunts.
Obviously you don’t know much about gymnastics.. more artistic??? Give me a break they are just different style. In fact, she did too many dance and turn on beam, no difficult tumbles, and her landing is quite easy compared to many top beavers. Not to mention her leap will be considered mediocre compared to Chinese beamers. Different doesn’t mean original. It could also mean taking advantage of the rules by putting in fact less difficult elements together. Oh, did I mean Nastia’s line and form is a million times better than her???
@@Boymanjusri You could argue that other beamers don't do enough turns. The most you see is the one required turn and then nothing. It's understandable because their strength is tumbles, not turns. Gina T yeah Sui Lu got robbed, I think. Linlin missed touching her toes to her head and I think the judges missed it, and possibly gave her credit for it. She had a few extra small balance checks too. But... that’s judging for you.
Actually, if you judge it, you Can see why Deng won, even if only by a tenth. The jump credit you mentioned doesn’t make sense. Not the prettiest sheep jump but the ring shape was there. You don’t need to do a Komova-level foot touching head to get credit. It just means you might lose a tenth. Either way Deng and Sui’s routines would get hammered under the current code. Excessive pauses before everything and no choreography at all. It’s part of why 2012 is my least favorite beam champion.

Denglinlin has such a calm personality. But my favorite is 2004, she looked so effortless
I go to Nadia Comaneci husbands (Bart Conner) gymnastics gym in Oklahoma!!
Tell me I’m not the only one who kept thinking someone was knocking on my door because of that sound effect in the background music 😂😂😂😂
Nadia is so smooth
i loved that rio routine
1980's Olympic beam: "I'm rooting for...ummm...everybody Romainian. I am!"
Wever's was supremely elegant and artistic while not skimping on difficulty, which I love to see in this day and age. I have always enjoyed how focused Miller is and how much fun you can tell Silivas has when she's performing. I wasn't a fan of Johnson's personally - her first tumble was impressive but she couldn't redirect her eyeline from the beam the entire routine, even for a second. And I found Ponar's arm movements very frantic and clumpy, not my thing at all.
