FEEDBACK ON THE SOUND EFFECTS IS APPRECIATED! I JUST THREW SHIT AT AUDACITY IDK WHAT IM DOING
Quick test animation to setup the models in Blender (no more SFM!) and testing the new sound effects.
All in preparation to finally start animating the 40k project I have in mind.

I want the youtube warhammer sfm era back so badly, it deserves so much more
Sadly GW hated that
Take it up with GW
Also emperor tts series was goat
@@TheBananamonger idk man Siege of Terra is pretty fucking sick. 40K is still awesome but it just pains me to see the potential it has just being held back by GW’s greed
@@TheBananamonger no wonder when I do my version of *If the Emperor had a text to speech device* i make it less of 1d4chan shit
I honestly love the punchy sounds you use for the Lasguns. Considering the general OPness of everything in the 40k universe, it's easy to forget those things can cut concrete slabs/blocks in half with a single shot.
Not concrete, ROCKRETE or if it's military Plastecrete.
And flak armor STOPS THAT.
imagine seeing a guardsman get hit with a three round burst from a heavy stubber, go down, and come back up with naught but scorch marks.
@@KoishiVibin no flak armour are next to useless against ANYTHING that is armour piercing. A heavy stubber can and will penetrate it, same as last gun lasers.
@@amirhaikal6672
*shrug* Warhammer canon is ludicrously malleable. In some stories space marines shrug off boltshells. In others a single boltshell kills them dead.
I choose to believe that flak armor made of ceramite shrugs off heavy stubber and lasgun fire.
@@KoishiVibin if you search contradictory in the internet Warhammer lore will pop out as an example.
That's a joke it doesn't actually do that
I remember in Gaunt's Ghosts, Commisar Gaunt the seasoned campaigner that he is advised Dragoons to set their lasweapons below normal setting against cultists. Later a Dragoon blew up a Chaos Marine's helm in 1 max charged shot. It's whatever info but it would be cool to see it animated.
He didn't really stop to charge it's fire like LoL Caitlyn Ult. Just shot it like normal.
@@boartank as far as I know, there isn't a charge up time for a lasgun, just the amount of power it draws from the battery pack. That said, at full charge you'd get about a dozen shots before having to reload with the battery completely dead and burnt out. Main reason why hotshot lasguns etc use external power packs and cabling
Honestly I don't see that happening. Maybe if the shot was on max power and went through the eye lens, but otherwise it would probably take a good few hits.
@@AbsolutelyNothing to be fair it would be like hitting it with like 10+ las bolts at once in the exact same spot. Basically making it a hotshot lasgun with the risk of exploding
as a guard fan I hate the concept of overcharging lasguns, it makes very little sense especially when space marines are supposed to be borderline indestructible
love the detial of the trigger discipline and switching from single shot to automatic, also the sound design is on point.
Makes me believe AbsolutelyNothing shoots. Which is based.
ok but niko
lasguns have... recoil?
@@fomingera65Saw this being argued on a Pariah Nexus highlight video. Honestly the thought of them having absolutely no recoil, to me, sounds cringe considering the supposed strength they are meant to possess, having no recoil seems illogical, not that anything needs to make sense in 40k, but just my opinion.
@@fomingera65 Best not to question its machine spirit.
That lasgun sound is absolute sex, this is what I have always imagined the sound to be, that sort of ionising slap of the air.
The Lasgun sounds in your Krieger videos are baseier and more satisfying but they are also a 'higher calibre' lasgun so this sound is actually kinda spot on. It sounds better than lasguns in a bunch of official GW animations already so well done
This is what i wanted from Starfield's energy weapons
I love the brightness intensity. The thick and "meatiness" of the laser being dispersed is beautiful. It's not limited to its barrel's width unlike standard caliber munitions. Pure energy. Instantaneous. It cannot be underestimated either. The Warhammer 40k universe jokes about it being a flashlight compared to the endless calibers of weapons above this. You want to say that you can charge against this guardsman alone. But try it again when hundreds upon thousands are flashing their muzzles towards you. Like how guardsman are usually deployed. I feel like if the enemy isn't bombarded with penetrating lasguns burning the very air surrounding them, they're blinded and with infinite cracks behind that light. Every trigger pulled delivers this. Just a wall of light, heat and crackles. They don't need to aim. There's just no room to hide/fit in between what little space is left. Death.
"The Legionnaire that scoffs at a lasgun has not charged across an open field against a hundred of them"
Maor the Scarred, Siege Champion of the Scargivers Chaos Warband
I love when people make guardsman act tactical, people seem to forget that they aren't bad disciplined conscripts, they are basically the spec ops of the PDFs
Love the sound of it the sharp snap and pop. Would a hellgun have a deeper sound as there is a lot more power per las bolt. Great work
Oh the end of the gun getting hot
That's bad he should see a techpreast about that before the weapons lenses warp
"The planet broke before the guard did!"
So happy to see you back dipping into 40k again. I'd say the lasgun shots have a satisfying punch to them despite being a mega flashlight that is suppose to have little to no recoil. I prefer what you have here over the no recoil stuff I sometimes see.
nice!
honestly, i get lasgun is "weak" in 40k
but its lore is so cool
specially that it can be recharged by placing the mag in the sun
or in emergencies, in a fire.
for the weakest gun, its got more lore to it than the bolter
It's only "weak" because the average tabletop sqaud is made of demigods and cosmic horrors.
Thing will still blow a hole clean through a concrete wall.
These guns let normal humans stand up to gods. They die in droves sure, but they don't die fast enough for the enemy to win because the enemy has to be tactical to avoid the wall of guns.
It works like a real life car battery or battery in general honestly. They charge themselves by temperature, but we make charging ports because those 2 methods are either not optimal or dangerous (phone batteries explode if left in sunlight for too long)
The beauty of the lasgun lies on its need to be used in great numbers to do any significant damage, which is a good metaphor for humanity: An enemy may laugh at the lone guardsman with a las, but his laughter stops when he's in front of hundreds of them.
@@Max16032 yep. and if russia proved anything to germany
quantity is a quality in and of itself.
poor...poor eldar learned that hard way
@@EgoEroTergum what about steel plates?
This is such a good lasgun sound. They're not meant to be a 'pew' they're meant to be a 'crack', and this captured that perfectly
This is how I am gonna imagine all the IG scenes in books from now on. Looks bloody well done
I'd kill for an open-world Warhammer game as a guardsman.
Yeah you wouldn’t last a very long playing as your typical guardsman in the grim darkness of the 40k
It returns
This gun is pretty much what sold me on Darktide.
this is how lasguns should sound like !! love it !!!
"Remember, Guardsman, your lasgun is NOT a flashligh, it's WEAPON that can KILL, treat it as carefull as you can"
Just four more days and it would have been the anniversary of the previous guardsman lasgun test.
Brilliant wok as always i look forward to your new creations :D
I really like the sound of this lasgun even if you said you just slapped it together I think it comes together nicely.
shit i missed the chance for an anniversary update.
Still, thanks for sticking around ^_^
if you could add some heat distortion around the guns barrel, that would be an amazing little touch.
also at the beginning when he does several short blasts I would add some red effect on the end of the barrel to underline that the laser shot came out of it.
-> **cheap mass produced trash for the imperial cannonfodder throwing chips off the muzzle with every shot**
-> **ignited plasma splashing at the muzzle and somethig rubbing it glowing hot (rifling for photons??), evidently combustion(=expensive, vulnerable) weapon**
OP: - WHY NOT BOTH!!4
U: - but add microwaves
Better than Warhammer+🔥🔥🔥
I have replayed it 100 times, its cool af
The humble lasgun of the Imperium of Men treated as a joke but try making fun of it with millions of it in the battlefield
I imagined it with less recoil, but everything else I love!
Less recoil is only on less efective mode 🤔 This looks like hard mode with 30 rounds
@@aspartus_ but it's a lasgun. It fires bolts of light. For the recoil to be that noticeable, it would have to fire Volcano Cannon levels of energy. That said, it still looks fecking awesome!
very true, how can laser even have a recoil? imagine buying laser point thingy from amazon and blown away from it's recoil lol @@sebastianrubin7476
Yeah it should theoretically have no noticeable recoil but 40K likes to operate on the Rule of Cool
The SFX is so incredibly on point wow!
I appreciate the trigger discipline. Truly this guardsman serves his emperor well.
Glad to see your back to doing 40K stuff. Very excited and can’t wait to see it
I love this animation despite it being so short. It's so buttery smooth.
I played this like 3 times and now I can not unhear the song "Another one bites the dust", everytime the guardsman fires.
Anyway great animation.
I REALLY loved that, the impactful sounds, the lasgun barrel getting slightly hotter with every shot and even the guardsman's uniform is on point, very well done
I really love the sound dude !! :D
He returns!!
That las gun sounds g o o d. Its much more powerful than what i usually hear (i mean, you shoot the literal sun at enemies, i htink) but its also rather soft compared to most 40k weapons, hence the name "flash light". Id love to see a melta gun in use against something like a tank
A shame I missed this when it came out a month ago. It really is amazing even as a test! Hope life is still serving you well!
Looked up "lasgun sound", wasnt disappointed.
RIP guardsman.
Now that's a Guardsman ready to take one the galaxy himself
The whole time I was reading Gaunt's Ghosts, this is what I heard in my head whenever there was battle
getting so good at this
Great stuff as always
That was glorious! Glad to have ya in the guard
Another 40k animation by the legend himself!
Edit: Holy shit, you can actually see him manipulating the fire select with his index finger! Well done!
this new flashlight design is crazy
So satisfying to hear
Kind of fun watching this and the older one.
Good one mate really nice posture gun barrel overheat effect does the job nicelly all those little things like recoil sound echo after bust shoting You done a great worki here max respect 👍 for the Emperor
This is so good!
Cant wait for your Animation🎉
i love the sound effects of the lasgun :)
his lasgun is so powerful it has recoil
love the sfx sounds like its got some punch on it
This is so cool to watch
THIS IS AMAAAAAAAZING.
Absolutely love it.
Really like the lazer flow!
The whip-snap sound is so good ugh
Very very good animation !
It's a detail but in theory there is no recoil on lasgun, cause it shoot litteraly light.
Just because we joke about Lasguns being glorified flashlights doesn't mean they need to be animated like that. It'd be too dull to watch.
Light that superheats the air in the barrel
@@gottagofastest yes it's one of interpretation, but even wirh that, the recoil should be mini-minimal.
@@Hades-im1ml Rule of cool always decides, justification can be come up with later
Bolter rounds should probably punch right through soft targets rather than explode in them but then chaos cultists wouldn't explode into fun chunks
@@gottagofastest you right.
Imo my rule of cool is lasgun with no recoil, but for other person its the oposite :)
this is really good and belivable
God I love the sound of the lazgun.
Sound effect sound amazing
That's a very beautiful effect DANM! if only games can replicate that effect
Cool, this does the lasgun some justice
I would love to see a Gears of War style warhammer game in where you play as a lowly guardsman in the middle of a Tyranid invasion.
Beautiful!
God this animation makes the lasgun feel right
outstanding stuff
I love how you capture the lasgun being the superior weapon compared to other sci fi weapons outside the 40k genre. Great!
Finally a good sound for the lasguns, which have always been described as the snapping of branchs or the crack of a whip. Too many games have a generic "pew pew" sound.
I love this!
It's great to see you back bro. Animation is looking real good. And on the sound effects, they are good but not fitting to a lasgun. Lasguns are frequently referred to as a loud crack/snappy sound in lore. And also a little less recoil on the lasgun would be stellar since they have very littler recoil (if any at all, depending on which black library author you go with)
This is so good
Flashy, loud, satisfying dakka. Very good 👍
sheeesh man youve hella improved
Yes. This is what brings light to the darkness of the world. A las gun firing
This glorious! Didn't notice until now how poorly protected Cadian soldiers' leg are
looking good
That’s a lot closer to what they sound like in the books
It's interesting seeing the different depictions of the weapons, with or without recoil, from sounding like a flashlight to a punchy weapon like here, where it feels like it should wreck everything it hits, and it would...if the armor and enemies on the other side weren't so insanely over the top.
wow love that !
I just realized, the lasgun is a fine weapon. With a larger magazine and better cooling, that thing can essentially serve as a squad automatic weapon
Yeah that's how I imagined the lasgun to work when reading the books. Great job! 👍
Thats so awesome =D
A year latter and still one of the top 3 lasguns.
the sound of the lasgun is exactly what i wanted, maybe more detail depending on the enviroment, like if you are in rain, the sound of water evaporating, or the reverberation in closed enviroments, maybe the sound of the barrel's metal expanding and dilating (usually a "ding" in the metal) but that's is on another level. On any needed level i consider this a almost perfect 10/10
Return of the king
Amazing, certain patterns of lasguns fire like PDW's albeit with less damage per shot. I believe the elysium drop ship troopers use this pattern
*giant wall of text argument for if the lasgun has recoil or not*
I love it so much
Loved it
With a sound effect like that I am not calling it a flashlight ever again
I regret only that I can give this video but a single upvote.
1000 of these things firing all at once...
*perfection*
I like the sound.
While I loved the snappy diamondback sound from your old 40k SFM videos, the current sound I feel is quite good! Maybe a little more crackle and snap would be nice, but I look forward to future blender works.
Damn that audio fits well to lasgun.
MEATY.
Animations well done
lasgun is a literal flashlight
I do very like the sound. Feels like it will do a lot of damage
