How to find your dream house in Indonesia? • Thinking of moving and...
#movingtoindonesia #livinginindonesia #wheretoliveinjakarta
Looking to halfway the video. Housing rent can be much cheaper. even 60 million / year in Bali for a reasonable house on a spot near airport is possible.
You buy a reasonable house there for about 1,000,000,000 Rp = Euro 60.000.
Yes, housing can be cheaper. If you go to a housing complex you will find cheaper housing, depending on where you are staying of course. We mention this in the video too. We are just giving an idea on what is possible and showing that renting in Indonesia isn't necessary cheap as many claim. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Matt and Monico
Welcome to Indonesia 🇮🇩 Islands
Thank you for watching!
I think Magelang is best place, It's not too crowded and has cool weather. It's a fairly big town and close to Yogyakarta. Best places is nearer the slope of Mt. Merbabu to build a villa-like home. It's natural to choose Bali, but it's too hectic, especially if you choose Canggu. Streets are very narrow and jammed everyday. Of course, unless you prefer night life and continue connecting with other foreigners.
Hi thanks for watching our video and giving useful tips. Malang, is the city of apples right? Yes, it is an ideal place for those seeking a cooler climate. Thanks for sharing! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 the suggestion is for Magelang in Central Java, not Malang in East Java 😊
@@wolfgangneeser7458 Thanks for pointing that out! Our mistake! We just looked it up. We can imagine it is a great escape from the heat and the crowd. Thanks for the tip!
You two are very appealing hosts.
Thanks for the positive feedback 😊
Thanks for the tips which are all very useful for house hunting. I’ll be posting to Jakarta soon and your video has helped a whole lot. Thx!
Thank you so much! We are so happy to hear that we could help you out. Good luck in Jakarta🍀. Hope you feel at home there! Matt and Monico
Thank you for this informative video. We are currently looking for furnished accommodation in Surabaya for a stay of 3 months, next year. Any suggestions on websites, except the ones already mentioned will be very much appreciated. Keep up the good work
Hi, thank you for letting us know our video has been helpful! If you are looking for a place for 3 months only then we would suggest going for AirBnb. There is a lot of choice for Surabaya, all fully furnished and the pictures are good to get an idea of what you are getting. You don't want to loose too much time looking around for a nice place once in Surabaya if you are only there for a short period. It took us a whole month to finally find a place in Bogor, especially one for just 1 year. Hope you find a nice place and enjoy your time in Surabaya! Cheers, Matt and Monico
Great Vid ☺️Watching this after a trip travelling around Central & East Java, Lombok and Kalimantan. It was only 3 weeks and I already saw enough to know why so many people move there now. The Indonesian people, culture, food and nature is top tier! Indonesia instantly stole my heart 🥹 and had me crying during takeoff back home 😫✈️😂
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Indonesia. Once you fall in love with the country it is difficult not to return again.😍 Hope you will be able to start planning your trip back one day soon! Matt and Monico
thank you for saying that ❤
Hi there, I am thinking of moving to Jakarta from Los Angeles. I am getting PTSDs from the amount of crimes and break-ins we have; I am wondering how’s the crime rate over there?
Hi, crime is everywhere but perhaps less intense then in LA. Housing complexes usually have security gates, so they know who are going in and out. But of course, extra security measures are taken. Most houses have gates and extra bars in front of the windows. That said, we have always experienced Indonesia as a safe country as we have never experienced anything bad. Thanks for watching our video! Matt and Monico
It would be nothing compared to where you are, or even my old hometown of Melbourne Australia.
My wife and I live in in West Jakarta in the Mediterania Gardens 2 apartment complex which adjoins the Central Park mall. A nice leafy area where the rents are cheap and the folks are friendly.
OMG, that big house in Bogor with quite good condition only costed you $2500 for 1 year? that's even soo underpriced for Bogor.
are you still living in that house ?
Yes looking back it was very cheap. We even had friends renting a place just USD1500 a year (min. 2 years and a smaller house). Bogor used to be less 'popular' considering Jakarta is around the corner. But now I heard it has become very busy so I can imagine, like everywhere, prices has gone up.
No we just rented it for 1 year. We loved living there. The garden was amazing and it was in a cul de sac/ dead end street so it was pretty quiet. We were very lucky to have found it. Do you have plans to move to Indonesia or are you there already?
I’m watching you and I’m half way through but a big question popped into my head. You mention ( fir example) 2.500 usd for a house for a year? Do you really mean 2,500 usd a month fir a year? It’s confusing. But enjoying the video.
Hi, wonderful to hear that you are watching our video. In some cases housing rental is per year and can be USD2500 (yes, that cheap) but in other cases (mostly in Jakarta and Bali) the rent can be per month. And this can even be USD2500 a month. It all depends on the location in Jakarta or Bali plus the size of the house. Little houses in housing complexes can be USD3000 a year. So in our video, we might talk about monthly but also yearly rentals. Hope we were able to clarify it a bit! Thank you for commenting! Cheers! Matt and Monico
Which residence visa do you have for the full family
We did a video on visas in Indonesia. Perhaps it will help. ua-cam.com/video/0jZL5KRYlLo/v-deo.html Cheers! Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 thank you so much. I'm a new subscriber and so really, happy for your response. Bedankt
I think the morning call to prayer is a good thing....If you ever visited Central Park in New York City...it's full of people around 5 AM in the morning, same thing in the parks in Los Angeles. I suppose people in big city like to wake up early.
Hi Lugha, thank you for your comment! Yes, you are actually right....waking up early shouldn't not be considered as a bad thing. Early mornings are often the best moments of a day. Indonesia is in general a pretty noisy country, even in the rural areas. If it isn't the morning prayer, then you will be likely be woken up by the rooster crowing or the many dogs barking 😆. Have a good day! Matt and Monico
Foreigners are not permitted to own property in Indonesia unless they have become citizens. Only renting for 1 year or more is allowed
Hi thanks for your comment. Yes, generally speaking there is a minimal rental period of 1 or 2 years. But in areas where there is a high concentration of expats, the landlord can be more flexible. Perhaps the rent will not be per month, but more a minimal of 3 or 6 months. Are you renting or do you rent out places? Matt and Monico
Succes. Groetjes, Matt en Monico
Jakarta is very pricey 😢
Yes it is! Especially if you stay at the popular/convenient areas in the city.
Where can i go for few months to do ashtanga yoga but not to bali ?
Hi we are not really familiar with yoga, and like you have noticed most yoga centers are set in Bali. But we happened to google it and found one in Lombok. Lombok is a wonderful island to be, as seen in other videos we just uploaded. This is the link of the yoga center in lombok www.ikarayoga.com/ Hope we were able to help! Cheers, Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 Thank you, how can i get visa for 3-6 months as an european ?
It is pretty easy to get a visa. All you need to do is go to the embassy website of your country, fill out the form for a B211 visa and pay. You will receive the visa through email. The B211 is valid for 60 days but can be extended up to 6 months in Indonesia. You can do it yourself at the immigration office there, or ask a visa agent to do it for you. We made a video on visas for Indonesia. It might give you more info on it ua-cam.com/video/0jZL5KRYlLo/v-deo.html Good luck!
@@makethemove101 Thank you kindly for your reply.
Filipinos are everywhere. In any country there are definitely Filipinos, but Indonesia is the most populous country in the world but it is rare to find Indonesians in any country. Except recently, Indonesians can be found in Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, for women usually in Hong Kong and they are only contract workers, unlike Filipinos who are permanent citizens in any country.
Hi thank you for watching our video and leaving a comment. Indonesians are found everywhere, however in low numbers compared to the Filipinos (except the Netherlands where there are many Indonesians but this is due to the connection from the past). As you mentioned they are often contract workers in Asian countries, rarely in Europe. Not sure why Filipinos are permanent citizens. Maybe they have been working abroad for generations already? Do you have an idea? Perhaps language? Or more socio-econimic? I bet if you dive into it there are many theories. Thanks again for your insight! Enjoy your day, Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 Indonesian descendants in the Netherlands are not western Indonesians (Malays). But they are descendants of the Moluccans (eastern Indonesians). Where in the colonial era, the Moluccans became loyal Dutch soldiers who helped oppress the natives (the natives called them black colonialists, puppets of the Dutch). They are descendants of rebels who lost the war against the Indonesian government.
because all Indonesian people want to live in Indonesia, they love this country. they came out just to improve the economy.
except women who marry because they have to obey their husbands.
That means Filipino can't find work inside their own country
@@klewank2615I think there's significant numbers of javanese from suriname as well
are getting work visas for Indonesia hard to get? they dont allow dual citizenship.
Hi, generally it is difficult to get a work visa unless a company employs you and arranges the visa for you. OR you have a specialization or type of work that can not be done by an Indonesian. The government just wants to 'protect' the local possibility to work of course.
Unfortunately from our knowledge, they do not allow dual citizenship. We do know that children whose one parent is Indonesian and the other from another nationality are allowed dual citizenship until they are 18. Then they have to choose.
Hope we were able to clarify things for you! Thanks for watching our video. Cheers. Matt and Monico
Hi! Just a little yet important note.....facebook groups are also a great way to find a place. Plus when we were searching in a house in Bogor, we additionally used an agent ERA Indonesia, which was helpful as well. Thanks again for watching our video and checking out the comment sections. Hi, thanks for watching our video. Most important is to get familiar with the type of visa's Indonesia has to see which one is eligible for you. For an idea what there you can check our video in Indonesia visa. Make sure you check if there hasn't been any changes in requirements since we posted it ua-cam.com/video/0jZL5KRYlLo/v-deo.html Hope it helps, Matt and Monico

BS…no way would I spend that much..I live in a luxury apartment now and pay nothing like that and have pool and a cook out area . With a picnic area …weight room workout facilities, private parking …
Cool, and where is this?
@@makethemove101 where’s your home address ? Let’s see if any crazy nuts come over

Hi, thank you for commenting. Sorry if you had other expectations. Are you looking for something specific about finding a place to live in Indonesia? Perhaps we can still give you the information you are looking for. Cheers! Matt and Monico
If we become muslim as soon as we step on the land, surely foreigners will get rights immediately to buy house. Countries like INdonesia is very dodgy. Law of the Land would be Islam, wouldn't it?
Well the law of the Islam do seem to dominate yes. But…luckily it doesn’t determine if you can purchase land or own something. At the end you have to hold an indonesian nationality. Cheers, Matt and Monico
You can try tho. But I think ITS Going to be a no. Just because youre muslims doesnt mean you autamatically gonna get that priveledge. .
Indonesia is a secular country, and it doesn't matter if you are Muslim or not, because all foreigner are not allowed to own a land
Hello and thanx for sharing a clear and to the point video , u guys covered almost points in this video , will u plz share ur contact so that we can ask some question regarding moving to Indonesia ? Thanx in advance

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 living in Indonesia is same to living backward
Wait until you grow up and you will see life in a different way my friend
Don’t go there if you don’t like it
If you have the possibility to choose a country that you want to live in, then that is a huge luxury in life right?
