Enjoyed the video. I'm 76 y/o live in America but have truly been thinking of visiting Malaysia for sort of a recon. Your video is a big help and my impressions have been it could be a good place for me. I'm very healthy and am not married so I could be a simple yet beautiful existence. Thank You.
We are so glad our video was helpful! Malaysia has so much to offer, and is a wonderful country to live. I can imagine you are considering it. Good luck on exploring Malaysia and we hope you will be able to call it home soon. Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
Long term visa sucks.
Yes it isn't easy to stay long term, and its not only malaysia
did you do a video of kefalonia?
Unfortunately, we haven't been there. yet, so no. But if you are considering, then you should definitely go. We heard great stories about this island.
Nicely done. 👍 You guys disappeared for months! Welcome back. Are you now in Portugal for awhile?
Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, we are back and now exploring what the options are for Portugal. So you will see more on Portugal soon. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico

Well done, very informative, thank you.
Hi, thank you for watching! We are happy to hear that it was useful. Planning to go to Corfu yourself? Enjoy your time there. Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
THANK U!!!
Thank you for watching and leaving a positive comment, appreciate it! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
Thank you for a great video. We planing our family trip to Corfu it would be 3 generations on holiday together. What town/village would you recommend as a permanent base? We will be spending 10 nights and only having maybe few trips around island. Many thanks x
Hi, thanks for watching our video and leaving a positive comment. It is difficult to say which town you should choose as a base. Do you want to be at the coast, up in the mountains, have access to lots of retaurants etc? Your group has all ages, we assume. So that might make it somewhat complex. We have written a blog post on places to stay in Corfu for every traveler. Have a look at bootsandsandals.com/where-to-stay-in-corfu/ We didn't suggest a base in this post, as we find it really difficult to choose one. But the post does give you an idea of the atmosphere/characteristics of each town. But if we must choose a base...then likely it would be Arillas / Agios Georgios or Paleokastritsa. Other stunning beaches are easily accessed from here, and Corfu town isn't all to far away. Enjoy your time in Corfu....and don't forget to rent a boat for a day. It was the best thing we did! Matt and Monico
Ik ben een Indonesisch die in NL woon. Groetjes 🎉

so basically just 3 months is granted to most people. and 6 month extension is not attainable without MLY family
Yes, if you don't have a Malaysian spouse or are not eligible for a working visa then you are likely going to go for a digital nomad or a MM2H visa.
£264k for the my 2nd home programe just absurd
Yes it is. Malaysia seems to only welcome people who are financially well off. Hopefully the requirements will change again soon. Thanks for watching, Matt and Monico
Welcome to Indonesia 🇮🇩 Islands
Thank you for watching!
Hi, are you still in Malaysia? I recently moved here from India for work, and I'm looking for someone from back home to explore new places with. I’d also love some guidance on how to get along with people here. Let me know if you’re up for it
Hi thanks for your comment! It's good you reached out if you are somewhere new. Unfortunately we are not in Malaysia at this moment. There are many facebook groups where people meet up when they are new to Malaysia. It will help you get started with creating a group of friends. Good luck and enjoy Malaysia. Regards, Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 can you please suggest me some groups where I can find people like me. It would be great help. Thanks in advance..
@@sachinsawant3582 Hi, if you go to Facebook's search bar and type "Malaysia expat," you will find loads of results. I'm not sure if you are looking for Indian expats, but there is a group as well. Good luck! You are sure to find somebody to connect with. Matt and Monico

Are you suggesting that we sell everything? I don't know what you mean by "be careful". When should we not be careful? 😅
Hi, thanks for watching our video and commenting. Just wanted to point out that you must invest at least RM 1 million in order to buy a house in Malaysia. It's a big investment and you should be able to carry the loss if the property value or currency decreases. Plus reselling might be tricky as many might not be able to afford it. But in the end, there are many things you have to be careful about but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, right? Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
Shall we file private school fees and House rent for tax claim after becoming resident after 6 months
Hi! Thank you for your question. To be very honest, we have no idea. Perhaps you can ask this in a Malaysia expat forum to get a correct answer. Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
I think Magelang is best place, It's not too crowded and has cool weather. It's a fairly big town and close to Yogyakarta. Best places is nearer the slope of Mt. Merbabu to build a villa-like home. It's natural to choose Bali, but it's too hectic, especially if you choose Canggu. Streets are very narrow and jammed everyday. Of course, unless you prefer night life and continue connecting with other foreigners.
Hi thanks for watching our video and giving useful tips. Malang, is the city of apples right? Yes, it is an ideal place for those seeking a cooler climate. Thanks for sharing! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 the suggestion is for Magelang in Central Java, not Malang in East Java 😊
@@wolfgangneeser7458 Thanks for pointing that out! Our mistake! We just looked it up. We can imagine it is a great escape from the heat and the crowd. Thanks for the tip!
What visa do I need to get if I want to move to malaysia but I’ll be able to live with a spouse while working from home
It all depends, is your spouse a Malaysian? Or have he/she obtained a work permit? Usually you can get a spouse/dependent visa (Long Term Social Visit Pass) if you are married. As long as you don't do business in Malaysia then I think it would be fine. But it is always best to contact the company your spouse will be working for and who are arranging the visa, and ask what your possibilities are. Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101thank you so much my spouse is Malaysian and he started a new job in a new company so I don’t I’ll be able to go through his company and we’re unfortunately not married right now.
@@kay2koe204, that does make things complicated. The only option I can think of is a tourist single-entry visa and leaving the country every three months. But there is a chance they will not allow you to enter if you do this too many times. If your line of work fits the requirements for the digital nomad visa, you can opt for that.
Thank you
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico

Thanks! Nice video. Where's the link in the description you mentioned about starting an online business? I don't see it
Thanks again for watching and letting us know you like the video! We already commented on your question in our other video. Matt and Monico
Nice videos thanks! What kind of online business are you guys doing?
Hi thank for your positive comment. Happy you liked our video. Unfortunately we have stopped with promoting the online business. Like many test and trials, the one we were at that time promoting didn't turn out as we hoped. We took it down, as we only want to share things we fully agree on. Indonesian hospitals real hate people with health insurance and paying out of pocket for health care is really reasonable you don't even need that. I would suggest to have a savings account for health care
That's tricky, somehow international health care seems to be one of the most important to arrange when living abroad. Of course, minor things are fine and a medical check is very cheap in Indonesia. But what if you are in an accident and need to have more then just an operation? Plus what if Indonesia can't provide the health care you need to recover more quickly. For us, health is a pleasant thought. Thanks again for commenting! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
Dude that's what to much. You can buy a really nice house for 55k what are you eating?? That's way more that what I've experienced
Hi thanks for watching. our video and commenting. Yes, many have mentioned that it is too much. We have set the monthly costs much higher, after our experience living in Indonesia. There are so much costs that we were not aware off when planning our move: visa costs, travel costs, schooling, dentists, holidaying😊 and eating out (not always local warung style). These costs are aimed at long term living, so savings are included too. How much did you need?
As an indonesian, i would say Indonesia healtcare system is bad, many doctors stop studying when they became resident, or even reading newer research or medication, it's crazy that many still use old medication
Thank you for watching our video and sharing your opinion. Unfortunately there is a reason why many Indonesians who can afford it head to Singapore or Malaysia. For minor things we have experienced Indonesian medical care reasonable, but then we visited private clinics. Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
Super helpful! Thank you so much! Do you have recommendations on the best high school which offers a US equivialent diploma or similar? Thank you!
Hi, thank you for your positive comment. We would suggest contacting the US international schools directly (we assume you are interested in the international schools). They will provide you with the best information, as we have so far have no experience or information on this. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico
What are the opportunities for foreigners to be there long term? Besides going to school…
For long term you would need to get a work permit which a company in Malaysia must arrange for you. An other option is get a spouse visa but then you must be married with a Malaysian citizen.Or you need to meet the financial requirement for a MM2H. These aren't the most straight forward options, but like any other country they are selective who receives a permanent visa. Many thanks for watching our video, have a lovely day! Matt and Monico
Not 1million Rupiah but Ringgit
Hi, Yes unfortunately we made the mistake and only realised it after uploading the video. Hopefully the rest of the video has been useful! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
After the year how do you stay longer on the nomad visa?
Hi, thanks for watching our video! You can extend your nomad visa once more, so in total 2 years. The visa is not meant for permanent residency so therefore you need to leave or change visas once the 2 years has passed. Cheers! Matt and Monico
Which websites did you use to check those schools? you are the first UA-camr I found that include schools. Also, can the nomad visa be extended?
Hi, thanks again for watching our video! The useful website on international schools is www.international-schools-database.com/ The nomad visa can be extended once for 1 more year. Hope we have been of some help! Have a lovely day, Matt and Monico
Just make sure, Malaysia, that those moving into our Malaysia are not dual citizenship Americans or Westerners connected to the illegal blue six pointed star occupiers of Palestine. Keep a sharp lookout ‼️
Great job, good energy, and actually good information on what it costs… I am nearing retirement and I am definitely looking at Malaysia and Philippines, Panama, and The DR, the USA has just become so dam expensive, worked all my life and the thought of living very poor is just not appealing… I will be watching you two, best of luck with all your endeavors…
Thank you for watching our video and taking the time to leave a positive comment. Retiring in an other country often involves certain financial requirements, but if you can meet them then often life will be more comfortable. Yes Bali is a unique place, especially the Balinese.
How about if we are on Medicare and retired in America, Are we covered in every country or not, I thought we were?
Hi, thank you for watching our video. To be honest we do not know if you are covered. We did find this: www.medicare.gov/coverage/travel-outside-the-u.s. Filipinos are everywhere. In any country there are definitely Filipinos, but Indonesia is the most populous country in the world but it is rare to find Indonesians in any country. Except recently, Indonesians can be found in Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, for women usually in Hong Kong and they are only contract workers, unlike Filipinos who are permanent citizens in any country.
Hi thank you for watching our video and leaving a comment. Indonesians are found everywhere, however in low numbers compared to the Filipinos (except the Netherlands where there are many Indonesians but this is due to the connection from the past). As you mentioned they are often contract workers in Asian countries, rarely in Europe. Not sure why Filipinos are permanent citizens. Maybe they have been working abroad for generations already? Do you have an idea? Perhaps language? Or more socio-econimic? I bet if you dive into it there are many theories. Thanks again for your insight! Enjoy your day, Matt and Monico
@@makethemove101 Indonesian descendants in the Netherlands are not western Indonesians (Malays). But they are descendants of the Moluccans (eastern Indonesians). Where in the colonial era, the Moluccans became loyal Dutch soldiers who helped oppress the natives (the natives called them black colonialists, puppets of the Dutch). They are descendants of rebels who lost the war against the Indonesian government.
because all Indonesian people want to live in Indonesia, they love this country. they came out just to improve the economy. except women who marry because they have to obey their husbands.
That means Filipino can't find work inside their own country

How about the student visas?
Hi, thanks for your comment. You can get a student visa if you have a guarantor who is responsible while you are in Indonesia. I believe you can get a 60 day visa, or a 12 month visa which is extendable depending on how long your program is you are following. I can imagine that universities in Indonesia can provide you which the exact steps and letters needed for your visa application. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico

Too damn expensive! Forget that!
Hi thanks for watching and commenting. At the end you can go for a more tighter budget of course. As mentioned, we prefer to aim higher as we have had the experience before that we had to head back home because of lack of finance. We thought things would be much cheaper, but you tend to forget the things you don't have back home such as visa, airplane tickets, (international) school, expat social life (yes, you might think that it doesn't apply to you but you will not have local friends only and expats tend to spend more) etc etc....so yes, it is expensive but you want to live, grow and seek opportunities, also when living abroad. Have a lovely day! Matt and Monico

Hi, I got over 16000 RM before tax as cunsultant in MY, is it ok or not ok ? If I take it I plan to bring family with 2 kids go there, the company will cover about 60% of kids education, I'm still thinking to take it or not, currently I leaving in Indonesia which cost of living is not much different I think.
Hi 16000RM would be enough, especially since the company will cover the kids' school. It all depends on where you will be living and how much the rent will be. Additionally, insurance and visas are additional costs that expats need to consider. Is that taken care of by the company too? Generally speaking, the costs would be similar to Indonesia. Again depending on where you are living. We hope you are able to make a decision soon. It's a great opportunity. Have a lovely day, Matt and MOnico
