I'm calling it now. Chealsea is gonna use this movie as a totally valid excuse to have Fred Durst in the next horror survivor, and I am 150% okay with that.
I know someone who saw a longer cut of this movie saying it was much raunchier and had way more kills. Apparently the Whole Kollective dies at one point and that's why Garrett and Rachel escape to follow the others when they are at the fence/porta potty area. Because i was thinking why would Garrett randomly leave the rest of the Kollective.
I was in pre-school during Y2K and remember when we *the survivers* came back to school and all of the teachers made a big deal to change the calendars to 2000. It's amazing how many of us made it RIP to those who didn't. 🙏 😅

Taco Bell dog’s name was Gidget and she was in Legally Blonde 2, actually. You’re welcome. As a millennial as well, I HAD to look this up. Thank you for this review and the nostalgia trip. I was 9 and I definitely remember. Lol
“We’re so close to being booted.” I don’t know I’m a 1991 millennial and Dead Meat(especially the podcast) always makes me feel like I’ve found my millennial home!
This movie worked when it was a dumb stoner comedy, it got plenty of laughs out of me. The part where the film lost me was when it tried to make care about these characters and the main guy getting together with Rachel Zegler.
I was a senior in high school in the year 2000. Yes! My graduation year was 2000. I remember this time so clearly. It was a crazy, confusing, awful, amazing time.
L-I-M-P Bizcuit is right here! Fred Durst allowing you both to understand people’s love for comics and related films is a wonderful byproduct of this 😂😭 love when Drunk Disney pops up on the pod, love the spicy and unapologetic takes in this one too
I saw this yesterday at 10:40am. My take is I'm glad people were employed for a while and the vibes were pretty laid back. It was a chill way to start the day. I was also the only person in the theater which was nice.
Also I would like to echo the sentiment that the music video Chelsea references early IS HORRIFYING. The song is called Rock DJ, and I watched it as a child and it’s absolutely unsettling
And it's not "them ripping off his skin," it's him stripping for them in a flirty and quirky manner, and he strips his own skin off to please them. It's so freaking dark.
OKAY so I'm actually NOT weird for citing it as one of the first things that got me into horror? Because, uh, it did and everyone looks at me weird when I mention it xD
Yeah stuff like that makes be a bit angry because of how easy it is for children to see music videos which are frequently very adult whether it be gore, sex, swearing, etc. This video is a more extreme version of a big problem with music videos, especially on UA-cam, with no safeguards for protecting children.
The Taco Bell dog was named Gidget, the first Legally Blonde movie showed one of her Taco Bell commercials it was being watched by Elle (Reese Witherspoon's) dog, Bruiser. The chihuahua that played Bruiser was Moonie. Gidget played Moonie's mom in Legally Blonde 2.
9 minutes in and it feels like listening to my parents reminiscing about the 80s cracking inside jokes etc but the energy is definitely infectious at least lol
This hasn't been released outside North America yet, so I'm leaving an AFK view for now and will watch the podcast properly when I can see the film. Thanks for all the wonderful podcasts in 2024 ❤

It was the first broadband wiring into large routers then connected through ethernet cables instead of phone cables. It was basically the birth of ethernet, which ruled until wifi. I was 4 years old in 1999 and have little to no memory of that year. What I liked most about this movie was the very late 90s and very early 2000s vibe.

35:37 in high school I would always play beer pong with shots of hard liquor because for some reason beer would always make me really sick. Come to find out about 5 years back I’m extremely allergic to nickel and foods high in nickel. Barley and hops are high in nickel and that’s why I always got sick from drink half a can but could drink a lot more vodka for example and yes get drunk but not get sick

Just my opinion, but I believe the “core year” of the generation is 1987, and I say this as an ‘87er.
