Rick, you can post thousands of videos, teach all the theory and technique you know, present all the best musicians and albums in the world, receive zillions of likes, but those 5 minutes playing with your old friends, that's priceless. That's living! This is a celebration of life! Enjoy the ride!
Great comment!
Indeed!
What I love is that these 4 dudes that's nobody know and their 20 year old music is better than 99% of the music releasing right now.
So true!
I reunited after 35 years with old band the reunion went so well we’ve been giging now 4 years after the reunion
You guys have that classic 90s rock band sound that is timeless. Props to the singer for still being able to hit those highs in the chorus.
A Perry Farrell in their too very nice and 90s Alt sounding!
Kind of sounds like a U2 cover band.
Vox are so 90's! Awesome!
Agree with Craig on Perry Farrell. Pretty good
@@guthrie_1 indeed
If I close my eyes I see a young band who are way ahead of their time. When I open my eyes I see a band who never stopped being young. Music is timeless.
When I look at you I see a trail of burned corpses
Interesting ... Burned Out Corpses as a band name for a retro Grunge group. Or the chorus of a song about the 2024 State of Politics.
@@trteeerryfse-wy2ww lol .. what prompted that ?
What I suspected before actually watching this video: Rick is this super-knowledgable guy, with serious technical skills, a massive online audience, and such a nuanced view of music, but when it comes to the band actually performing he'll not be front and centre. I was right, and I genuinely love this. Humility and virtuosity are two virtues which don't often come in combination, but they are evident here. Maybe that's why so many of us love your videos, Rick.
That dude still sings like he’s in his prime. Excellent voice.
It's sounds so 90's. Love it!
Seriously. It's like they transported themselves to 1995 right in front of us (not a complaint)
Saved me a post😉 it was Smashing Pumpkins meets Dinosaur Jr. while skateboarding with the Pixies.
Smashing Pumpkins! The first band that came to my mind listening to this song. Now I'm a Billionaire fan.@@NoSacredCowFla
built the spill does it count?@@NoSacredCowFla
OMG Rick! Are you freaking kidding me? Please tell me there will be more of this. This track just time traveled me back to such a great era in rock. You perfectly captured that epic gritty vibe of the 90-00's and brought it back into this decade with your own sound. God how I miss this sound, the instruments and vocals were outstanding. So Rick, you popped the cork and we got a whiff of this fine vintage, well now we're holding out our glass!
I heartily 👍 agree
There is a whole album of this music on spotify.
Is right, like to hear more from the band
Not gonna lie man, it was 100x better than I expected. And that’s zero% a dig at you. Love your stuff and what you bring to the joy of music and music education.
Very happy to see you were in a super legit band. Hope you guys get to play more.
Really? I think the music business is hard in many ways but there's a definite reason why some bands make it and some bands don't.
@@zootsoot2006 However, sometimes it is simply a matter of luck or lack thereof. Being at the right place at the right time and make the right impression on the right people... I know what I'm talking about because I have a special talent for messing up things like that. 😄
So feels like a 1990’s band…you guys sound great. I did pick up your album on Apple. You all deserved the main stage.
why do you have to spell it out like that? lol! this just makes me feel old, in my mind saying 90s is sufficient
This should've been in the soundtrack for One Tree Hill, Charmed, or Smallville. Like it.
@@RCAvhstape somebody saaaaaaaaaaaveeee meeeeee 🎶
This was his old 90's band that had a short lived deal.
I got excited, what can I say...lol
@@BMR86
I haven't heard sounds like this since the early to mid 90s. It's so cathartic and an absolute privilege to hear all you guys play again after such a long hiatus.
it feels like an old friend
This is so mid 90s - takes me back to highschool.
I came here to write the same comment!
It's the mid-90s modern rock song that we didn't know we needed.
It’s Rock! It Rocks! Don’t ever count us old guys out. We may look old but our Heart’s are still Twenty something!
The Silver Foxes Still Rock ...that was awesome !!!
Man that feeling of jamming with the boys is unmatched, it really comes thru in this video, that tingly sweat u get on your spine, the way you feel the air on your brow, truely the greatest feeling that exists
There are hundreds of UA-camrs talking about production, guitars and effects. But This video of you and your old band talks 1000% more about your music knowledge and good taste. Congrats!!
Your body tells you every day your getting old, but with music you never feel old. Great piece boys!
Music IS the fountain of youth. Rock on.
This is so true. I'm 55 years old and still play like I wished I could when I was 15.
When I was a very young player, not even 16, I read an interview with some middle aged dude named Brian May. The interviewer commented on his youthful demeanor and he said, .."Music is the fountain of youth..." That stuck with me, obviously.
It *can* be so true too. Youthful passion is so easy to lose and writing music (GENUINE music) gives a person a sort of connection to their old self. You know, it's not like a picture where you just look at it and reminisce over it but it's actually something you created! Something that sprung up from your "fountain" of youthful passion, determined to express whatever it was you were trying to express. Again, it's not like writing poetry, which you go back and read 30 years later. It's music, it's in your head/heart and you have to perform it again.
It can take on new meanings, for sure, but that old original longing to be heard, to be understood even... that passion that causes the flow is always there. Sometimes embarrassingly so. 😂
The fountain is as deep as your reason for it. That's one reason why some musicians seem to get better with age while others lose it all after becoming too comfortable. I'm talking with the music they started with; not the new. Then again if you're really happy and comfortable then your passionate music will reflect that. I have examples.
I am really struggling to put into words my appreciation of this whole video - everything about it is everything I love about being in a band. As others have mentioned, the fact that you're all still close friends and can put together music like this is an absolute gift. Thanks for sharing this, and I hope you take time to do it more often.
Love it! I love the sound of your singer's vocals. It's great to see your band get together after all these years. You've still got that magic!!
Man you got the drummer, you got the vocals, you got the riffs. Go Rick. so impressed, from a fellow songwriter.
Everthing except the lyrics ... lol
@@adambane1719 yeah, feels a bit rough, but I assume it's from 2001
Not a fan of the singers tone. Very thin and whiny.
The vocals were spot on, it’s amazing he still has that range. The song transports you to somewhere else and that’s the signature of a really good song.
Rick ! What a joy this was to see and hear your band 👍🏻. It’s about time we got to see and expression and a smile on your face that just exudes I’m just in my happy place and dovetailed in tight with my friends, you look very happy ! Loved seeing that Rick, you’ve given us listeners so much more than you’ll ever know. Thank you our friend 👍🏻
So wonderful and wholesome to see your old band reunited. Truly an unforgettable bond with your bandmates.
Dude this is an awesome song! Recorded live with vocals, nice 🎸
Ehh, no. The vocals clearly don't line up with the video. Neither do all the instruments, probably, but I wasn't paying attention to that.
EDIT: What I'm trying to say. They did multiple takes, of course. Probably did some comping. Cause, you know, that's what bands have been doing since recording was a thing. And, dare I say it, it's very probable that they even did some vocal tuning
Not live for sure
Your vocalist deserved decades of praise> I love him.
He reminds me of Filter
Reminded me of Perry Farrell! Very Porno for Pyros.
@@JeffMasonProject That's exactly what I was thinking. Marc sounds a lot like Richard Patrick.
For sure. They are all amazing but he really did stand out.
@JeffMasonProject thank you! I was trying to place what I was hearing and that's it.
Wow! Nice! Impressive you all made the time to come back together. Really enjoyed this experience!
Rick - you're a treasure. Keep it going, man. This is awesome! And just shows how random and fickle the music biz is. You guys could have easily made it huge - heck, this song could be released now and be at home on Alt Nation on Sirius XM. But at the end of the day, that isn't what matters. Finding 4 guys who can together, hang out, have fun and make great music like this after being apart so long is just priceless. I'm a hack bass player and when I gigged with my old band, it was just simply the best feeling ever. Make up some 90's Billionaire t-shirts just as if you rocked stadiums around the world back in the day. I'll buy one and proudly wear it and when people ask, I'll tell them of my times listening to your CD's and going to the concerts where you opened for Smashing Pumpkins and REM. It will be our inside joke - just you and a couple million of your Billionaire subscribers.
OMFG AMAZING!! Darren absolutely KILLING IT on drums!🤘
Holy cannoli! Given you were in the band I thought it likely didn’t suck, but this is seriously fantastic… song is now firmly stuck in my head. More, please!
That was sick!! Really enjoyed it, and gave me immense joy that you all were reunited and jamming again. Hope to see more vids and maybe even new tunes in the future! 🙌
Wow!! Speechless. Thank you for sharing this. I could feel it.
Dayum, the VOCALS still sounding tight after this much time!!!! The whole group could easily play with the best currently on the music scene!!! I feel like holding a Bic lighter up and waving it in the air!!!👏🔥
Like we all did before cellphone light became a thing.
Good old times with BIC's instead of smartphones =)
Until they took away the ability for us to turn up our BIC's.
Was looking for a post calling out Marc's vocals before posting my own. He really sounds amazing.
Yep, I caught that too!
Ok, straight up, that sounded a LOT better than what I was expecting, just due to the time gone by. The vocals were absolutely solid. I could so hear this song on a movie soundtrack, maybe the closing credits? Well done, boys.
anime opening or closing. this song is perfect
You guys have the chops. You should take the act on the Road. I would buy a ticket
my mind went straight to Transformers
Seeing you guys connecting again and playing almost brought tears in my eyes. Rick, people who never met you love you like a family member and that’s truly remarkable
Fantastic! Wow! I’m a 71 year old guitarist whose former band members have gone home and not doing much except watching the dust gather on our instruments! lol we use to joke that maybe the Lord would let us play in heaven!
Can't even fathom how wholesome the feeling had to be... Playing with your old band after more than two decades. You really sound like "you never broke up" ❤
Wow, love you guys. I'm 75 and been jamming with 2 other guys once a week for over 20 years. We still break strings.
Keep rockin'!
I gotta say, that was a great cut. The layered guitars, and that guy's a great vocalist. Great song and arrangement. It's really good music
Congrats on “getting the band back together”. Love the performance - seeing the rekindled relationships is icing on the cake
For 23 years after a few times practicing before recording, you guys sound really tight. Awesome performance and good song!
It truly sounds like you guys haven't missed a beat even after 22 years without playing together. Thanks for sharing that moment with us.
Oh Rick, what a wonderful SOUND! And, I reeeally love the changes with the underlying bass notes. The key change in the chorus and during the solo. SO good. Thank you Billionaire Band!
Wauw, that's like riding a bicycle. When you close your eyes and just listen, this doesn't sound like a bunch of older guys, but young, fresh, energetic, powerful and wild. Once you've found the button of R&R somewhere in your genes, they will never leave you and be as revitalising as ever. Don't stop and hopefully you can share some footage on the actual gig you BILLIONAIRES did. Thnx!!!
I really wasn't prepared to like this as much as I did. I stopped halfway through to start over so I could put on my good headphones and really listen. Mark has an instantly likable voice, and by the end I was hooked. Great job, great mix, drum sound was so tasty! Kudos all around.
Hell yeah. I thought this was good but...holy shit it was good.
Yes, that’s a great voice! On the chorus it was right into Sting territory with a hint of Bono.
The same. I’d buy this. If y’all played a festival I’d show up.
Man, this was EXCELLENT!!!! Please, do a series of videos producing a few of your own songs, going through the process and all... that would be absolutely awesome! Congratulations to the 4 of you!
excelente ideia.... eu não ia perder um episodio!!!
Remember that most of the (old) songs by Billionaire are available on here.
☺
Definitely 🏁
This 💯!!! Great idea man.
Sounds great, Rick. Glad you got the guys back together. BTW - I worked with your brother at the big yellow box. Rock on, dude!
Retired musician - LOVE the content and today’s tunes - bless you RB
The audio angst of 90s music was about production as much as musicianship and you guys did your song and that era, justice. This video shows how special it is to be in a band at any age - the give and take camaraderie, the trust in each other's abilities, yet staking out your own musical real estate to create a whole that is greater than the individual parts. Well done!
This is the start of some good Rick Beato lore
Frickin awesome guys. Thank you.
Love this. Thank you for sharing this with us!
that sounds surprisingly fresh for 22 years. The voice is really cool - clear sound. It got grunchy vibes but not just that - got a feeling of desire, can’t grab why
Life is so short and you guys sound incredible. It’d be a shame if this doesn’t continue once a year at least. It’d be even better if you wrote an album.
I'm watching listening to this for the third time!!! This is quite awesome!! Please make more. Everyone is so great
Y'all truly rock! Really enjoyed this.
That is a GREAT tune!! Congrats on getting the boys back together - hope you have a blast. Cheers, Lee
Looking forward to hearing your band reunion with Pete and Chappers in 20 years Lee!
23 years? I can only assume that you all still are engaged in music to this day, considering you four haven’t payed together in so long it was a very tight and well executed performance. Well done!
Rick This is priceless. You guys are solid. This is what is missing today. People playing live music together. You guys have a tight sound.
Dude. That’s music. Thank you and your band buddies for doing that. Great song!! I want to hear more of your old stuff.
Gotta love the fact that you guys haven’t played in 20 years and you still crush pretty much all of the new rock music being released nowadays.
Fantastic work.
Rick this sound was completely unexpected. The singer is damn good you guys still have the chops and that ending what a slaughter on the drums.
I love it! If I would have come across this song in the 90's I would have rocked it for years, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. This will go in my playlist along with the rest of your songs so I can discover what else you have in store.
Sadly though, like many other bands from this era, at the tail end of the grunge and alternative rock boom. You never really got the chance to shine, although having refined and matured said genres into something really cool and well produced. Thanks!
Rick this was a truly amazing sound and song. It's almost as if it transported me back to the mid/late 90s when I was in high-school. Definitely an awesome time. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.
Would love to see this reunion turn into a new album. Loved the song, Rick.
Came to the comments to say essentially the same thing! Rick, I hope you guys don't wait another 23 years to do this again. You four obviously had some chemistry and it seems it's still there. Album! Or at least EP!
What a reunion ! What a chorus ! What a song ! Thank you Rick and your bandmates !
Exactly! This ADDICTIVE late '90s huge sound.... 👌❤️ Great job
They sounds like the good parts of Failure
I really love the vocals. It’s kind of amazing you guys have all kept your chops together after all these years.
Damn that was good. I can't believe this didn't show up in my feed until now. I can reference a number of your lessons by listening to the changes and the progressions. Complicated enough but not to sacrifice accessibility to the ear. Super well done!
Great song, Rick! Billionaire captures the essence of 90’s rock and sounds fantastic. Top notch performance!
surprised you weren't big in the 90's, you guys have definitely got "THE" sound!! happy for you guys, it must be awesome getting the band back together.
I totally did not expect this sound. For some reason I expected one of those sounds that are only enjoyed by connoisseurs, but this I am not one and this is AWESOME.
They got buried under the emo/punk sound at the time. No one wanted rock n roll back then, 99x tried…but that was the extent of it sadly
@@muddygun Huh? This is THE prototypical 90's Alternative Rock sound and done very well. Think Failure, Screaming Trees, Better Than Ezra, etc. Surprised they didn't blow up.
@@Jay.McCarty Yeah, those happened in the early to mid 90s. The late 90s, when they put out Acension was a rough time for this kind of music. Plus, that album had a lot of rock n roll roots in it. The bands you mentioned strayed a bit more in to grunge.
@@randalltolliver9744 Yeah, I saw this was out in '97 right after I posted. On the outer edge but this stuff was still kind'a big.
I've never seen one second of your videos and not a clue who you or your friends are but that title caught my attention! That music and lyrical content is great! Wonderful job guys.
In high school in metro Atlanta around the year 2000, the cool teachers in their late 20s loved Billionaire and thought it was going to be the next big thing. I'm now a decade older than they were then and moved 7,000 miles away. Listening to this really took me back to another place and time.
The thing is the name of the band sucks. Does anyone really like rich people?
I think the band is great though, I mean that was their song we just heard -
it has all the elements I like in rock music. just change the name to Thousand Aire
or something!!!
And now I just read they were signed back then. I think the name wasn't good yeah there's a lot to a name! Didn't someone try to tell them?
@@metalmike570 There were lots of questionable band names in the southeast at the time. By the way, to avoid a lot of emojis and to clarify tone, if I were saying this out loud, I'd be smiling the whole time. :) One of my favorite albums was also produced by Rick - Jump, Little Children's Between the Dim and the Dark. The band was named after the old blues song and tried rebranding as "Jump" on this Rick-produced album. It didn't work and the band didn't make another album for years after that. (I don't blame Rick for that, though.) Rick has also done quite a bit with Butch Walker. On one album in the mid-oughts, Butch's band was called "The Let's-Go-Out-Tonites." Between the wordiness, the unnecessary punctuation, and the misspelling, I'm not sure what I hate the most about that name.
@@yomintyfresh Either way they were real rock musicians, I would just say the name of Butch's band is too cheesy, and I'm from the northeast. They should have called themselves The CoatHanger Heads or something.
That's what they get for trashing Creed lol
@@metalmike570 Nah, they just need to change the spelling to "Bill, ya neigher!" Fits right in with the 90s Bill Clinton jokes.
This sounds amazing! It sounds like you just played together a few weeks ago, not 20+ years ago! Major kudos for everyone!
The world needs music like this right now.
enough of trap / regueton, we need rock and bands with guitars
Absofuckinglutely!
We do it’s just not what the corporate owners want to let you hear but one good things is there are a bunch of great bands out there making great meaningful music just have to look .A man once told me do you think the fastest horse in the world runs in the Kentucky Derby? So much more out there for sure.
Rick, thanks for this. And thank yourself for making it happen too!
That was amazing! Thank you!!
The best old man band I've heard in a while! You guys should've been big. It still sounds fresh today.
I was thinking the same thing, pretty damn impressive.
Having watched countless numbers of your videos and being made aware of you’re seemingly endless knowledge of theory, harmony, rhythm, technique and production etc I have to admit I was expecting your band to be some kind of a power jazz fusion extravaganza affair. Imagine my surprise when listening to this…transported right back to my late teens to mid 20’s in the 90’s when I was listening to Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots etc. Outstanding stuff. Give us a new album Rick..! Nearly 4 million subscribers and we’d all buy it..! I’m off to make a new playlist on Spotify. One that’ll make me feel young again.
Great comment dude, we had the same teen years apparently. Hope he’ll listen..
The best Rick, loved the music and the vocals, took me back to my love for Stabbing Westward days. Thank you all for sharing.
This was great Rick! I didn't know Darren was in your band. I'm a big fan of Butch Walker and his many projects and have seen Darren play with him. I'd love to see you interview Butch for your channel! Great video (and music) as usual.
Sounds fantastic. The singer has a great voice!
I just think it's lacking backing vocals in the chorus.
I love the band's sound and musicianship! It's like U2 and Smashing Pumpkins vibes.
I hope to one day see music from Billionaire just out of the blue.
Strong Filter vibes too
Let me add that I felt a slight touch of spicy grunge and progressive rock, but yeah, late 80's, 90's and a bit of 2000's
Quite Filterish indeed. I can hear Richard Patrick singing on this.
*MORE PLEASE*OMG! This is amazing! Your band-friends, this sound is EXACTLY what we need more of today. This was beautiful, groovy and heavy. You've got to please do more of this for us and the rest of the world that loves good music! Your next UA-cam channel better be BILLIONAIRE! This whole story writes itself! (Independent and monetized-watch out Tom 😁) Thank you-just doesn't have the meaning I wish to put here, bc I needed this sound in my life. I'm grateful to be subbed, and stupidly glad I heard this.
This was fantastic😮The band probably should have been huge. How many other great bands passed us all by through the years.
Really enjoyed watching and listening to this powerful and strong track.❤
New Fan of Billionaire, that was epic and awesome, great vocals, Thank you to you all!!
This was honestly amazing. What a shame we didn’t have this to rock to growing up. I’m glad you got the opportunity to present this to us.
Good sound guys after 23 years not playing together that sounded well together, good vocals, guitars, drums etc a slight u2 sound as well in places, respect !! 🤘🤘
That was just ... The best part of my day today. Great tone guys, thanks
The length of that intro, the breaks, the guitars and all the other many signposts to the era of influence...great stuff❤
The greatest feeling in the world is jamming with your bros. You guys sound killer Rick! God Bless all of you gentlemen 🤘🏻💙🎸
Love it! You boys are still sounding great!
I love this! Just purchased your cd from 1999 with this song on it. The whole thing is terrific. You should re-record it for 2024. You guys sound great.
You guys are DEFINITELY a band I would've listened to back then, and will listen to now! Wow!
it's fascinating how the sound you guys have under your belt has the 90s tones embedded into it! nothing in today's music sounds like this whatsoever! this is soooo good!!! it's so refreshing!!! it oozes so much nostalgia!!!
Uou guys obviously have great chemistry. You're a pro. It shows. Great job. Looks like a blast.
Ugh, this sounded like I was listening to the radio. I got engulfed in the song and totally forgot about your story about not playing together in 21 years and that this was pretty much a one take song. What the hell? You guys are freaking awesome. I loved the song changing directions too. This was badass. I felt a collective soul and third eye blind vibe from this song. Great stuff man. 🤟
WOW!! I anticipated that the music would be great, but the vocals were just superb!! This clip literally gave me goosebumps. If you guys put out an album I would buy it this second.
Please tell me you're going to keep the band playing together from now on, because that was FANTASTIC and hit every good 90's rock vibe deep in my soul.
LOVE that you did this Rick! Sounds great :)
Wow. Sounds great after 20 years. Singers voice is amazing! Keep playing.
You guys still got it! I really admire the singer-to still have the pipes he’s got after all those years! Sounds really good! You know, this might just inspire me to get a group I was with together. We all live in the same area again. Our last gig… 1982!!
Do it! I dare you. I would love to jam with my old band from '84. There have been a lot of bands over the years, but the 80's were an awesome time to be a cover band at the beginning of "New Wave". From Oingo to Thompson Twins to Haircut 100, there was so much going on. Would love to re-visit that group for a jam.
As a studio engineer and a lover of music full stop, this is what it's all about!
Great music, Rick!
Genuinely happy to see this!
Wow. I loved this video. You finally did a video about you and not someone else. I really enjoyed this. You are a legend as far as I am concerned and this was totally enjoyable. I hope we get a full concert from Billionaire. You just keep giving us better and better stuff all the time. I have learned so much from you. Thank you for all your hard work and the enlightment you have given this old man on so many levels. I hope one day to be able to meet you and shake your hand and thank you for all the great videos.
Rick, that was really AWESOME!!
If you ever cut an album, or even an LP, I would not hesitate to buy it! The vocals were right on the mark (maybe cut down the Rock-yell at the end) but you ALL sounded GREAT!
