"Status Coup" founder Jordan covered this live for 1 month where other journalists were absent. Maybe Vox isn't the adversarial journalism that covers these issues in order to educate us on how we can defeat these evil systems of capitalism. Covering it 4 years later without any links to activist orgs or strategies to dismantle this pipeline is malpractice and promoting desensitization. I believe Jordan was working under "TYT Investigates" youtube channel where the DAPL videos continue to be hosted.

Thanks for this video! Here in Germany they wanted to cut down one of our last ancient forest for coal digging. Many months protestors build treehouses and barricades in the wood of the Hambacher Forst, there were many people come to stand with them and have done demonstrations and so on. Also police brutality happened but after all this the court finally declared that the forest can remain and not to be cut down. Transformation and changes is now!
How is it going now that Putin cut off your gas supplies? Is Germany going to reopen/install new coal energy plants to provide for those who are cold in the winter? Nah, you would never do such a thing, being a first world country
I live in Canada and we have thousands of acres of raw beauty that is trees and forests, rivers and lakes, animals living freely in the wild, wolves, bears, beavers. Native people still living off the land and what Mother Earth provides. With respect. I am so grateful to live on a land that is so vast that these things will continue to exist for many years. But I fear that the day will come when the white men and women of the world will come with their weapons and destroy it all. Is it inevitable? Will anyone save us?
I was there at standing rock, still haunts me in memories. Fresh off from firefighting(as if it was actual combat on in a middle of a warzone) in Colorado in the rocky mountains, only to be in a war zone again. And being a tribal wildland firefighter, I feel hurt in my heart and I feel so much pain. I put my life on the line fighting wildfires saving this country engulfed in flames only to be betrayed and backstabbed. I'll never forget standing Rock. I'll never forget these events and I'll never come over my ptsd.

If all Americans stood in solidarity to protect our rights and liberty. There would be something like this everyday until it is accomplished. I stand with you!!! It's so unfair what happens over there, I'm moved to tears! I can't believe that the US citizens let you stand alone in your protests.
Whats unfair? That the people claiming to be “water protecters” were the biggest threat to the water source leaving 7 tons of trash behind after this circus? What protest? They torched, robbed, and assaulted numerous times during this event including locals with no connection to the oil company. You can look up the Bismarck Tribune archives and see all the crime they brought with them.
@Sagittarius Rising Its takes such intelligence to insult strangers online, right? What natives are you talking about? They arrested dozens of tribe members during this circus. To pretend they weren’t willing participants in the violence is false. The Bismarck Tribune posted the arrests daily and keep the archives. Read what? You didn’t actually cite anything as Whyte has written many articles on NoDAPL. I live here. My profile photo is the ND seal, rather weird you don’t recognize that. You’re trying to lecture me how life is in my backyard and talk about getting educated. If your ideas werent so weak you wouldn’t need to rely on childish attempts at smearing others over a rational thought. Its that simple. If you want to pretend the tribe wasn’t the problem why did standing rock refuse to clean up the mess? Morton county cleared 7 tons of trash left behind from the “water protecters” when the tribe did nothing.

Hi Alaric greeting you from wpg on 12/25/22 even being so close to North Dakota I don’t remember hearing anything about this protest at the time, so I’m just looking into it for the first time now. I just wanted to say hey and respect for your solidarity and justice motivation at such a young age. It’s scary to consider the relatively low number of views and comments on reports about such extreme breaches of rights held by Native American peoples, in comparison to how avid many tech users are about so many silly frivolous or just plain dumb alternatives. Admittedly I indulge my guilty pleasures too, having only recently joined the twentieth century with smartphones-ness, but I also try and learn new things or research beyond msm boundaries along with the rest. I hope you have found ways to express your activism and lend what support you can to some of the worlds legion worthy causes since your pa said “no way, kiddo!!” Happy Xmas from Jen ( not Laurence) in Canada 🇨🇦
Wow. I started watching this and before I was even halfway in I was choking back tears because I was so affected by what I was seeing. As a Native American from the Leech Lake Reservation of the Upper Mississippi Band in Minnesota, I was VERY proud at the stand I saw take place, but also very saddened at how I saw people of all walks of life treated. People came together and I'm so thankful to be a proud member of the people I belong to. Thank you. All of you that were there.
Hi Cami, greet at xmas22 from Jen in Winnipeg. Your replier brock alleges multiple rape reports that I’m not sure if he means from the standing rock scene or an event where you live. If he means standing rock I’m guessing he means to suggest that the protesters were to blame. I wasn’t there and I don’t know much about it, but rape is often considered by criminology types to be an act of violence, not an act of sex, per se, meaning that the motivation is not to attain sexual satisfaction but to act agrressively towards a vulnerable target. So who was in the vicinity with a mandate and under contract to suppress a pretty conscientiously peaceful protest with force and violence? Who chooses to make a career working in combat fatigues carrying a rifle and wearing body armour? Somebody who has probably been raised to accept that might is right and that violence and aggression are satisfying experiences to be a part of. And they were mostly probably from out of town and pretty unlikely to be easily identified, assuming anybody complained and assuming anybody investigated when they did complain. I’m not assuming you two will not have the capacity to figure this out, but maybe somebody else will trip over this conversation (as I have) and it will plant a seed of doubt about the character of the protesters as a group that maybe shouldn’t be allowed to evolve.
The fact that Native Americans can be arrested and have their freedom taken away in a justice system that isn't their own is an atrocity in its own right. While they are on their land they should live under their own sovereign rules, and have the right to enforce their own laws and rights to what remains of the land they still have after the continent was taken from them.
You cant say it was stolen, war is war. Even natives took land from eachother during wars fought amongst themselves. Its legit how countries have grown in size for the last couple thousand years.
@@haylus3636 That's like saying that a bunch of gangsters enter to your house, try to kick your family out and the ones who fight back are killed, but then they say is not considered stealing because there was a fight involved. It doesn't matter if the lands was obtained on war or not, europeans didn't conquered some unoccupied lands, they stole it!.
Martiddy - Sama your right except when someone breaks into your house you have the right to defend what’s yours. You get to pull out a gun and shoot the intruder dead. Game over, you still own your belongings. The Indians couldn’t defend their property. They should feel lucky that they weren’t all killed off.
@@haylus3636 Really just shhhhhhh... So the genocide by the nazis was 'legit' war in your book? Because they only killed 11 million people but 55 million native americans were killed. That is genocidal colonization by unequally armed forces, not war.
Y’all should also include how it has leaked multiple times and poses an active threat to the water and land they were trying to protect. The exact issues they said would arise have arisen. #landbacknow
Very very proud to see my dad at the front lines, taking on the dogs, with our tribal flag was the only way of protecting himself and those around him.
@Flavius Belisarius There are countless treaties the government illegally ignored and used to STEAL native land and when the natives did not comply there were murdered! At LEAST read about the Trail of Tears before you come and bring up colonial propaganda
@Flavius Belisarius You seem to be forgetting that the US government then repeatedly broke those treaties and stole more land. See Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851 and 1868. The reason? There was gold in them thar hills, the Black Hills that is. So in 1875 George Armstrong Custer lead an expedition into the area (native land by above treaties) and failed to prevent white settlers (miners and trappers) from moving onto tribal lands (the Black Hills). As for the 1st nations peoples fighting each other, of course they did because they had been forced onto smaller and smaller areas forcing them to compete with each other for resources like FOOD.
It was live-streamed on youtube. Morton county sheriffs office also targeted any journalist that covered the protest. Amy Goodman was arrested for trespassing and charged with rioting while covering the incident. The charges were later dropped. you’re right! The American people need to wake up. Article 6, clause 2 of the United States Constitution says, “all Treaties are the Supreme Law of the Land and judges in every state shall be bound thereby.” That means that every single one of the 500 treaties that the American people signed are as valid today as the constitution. Violating any one of the 500treaties today is violating article 6, clause 2 of the constitution today. And since there’s no consequences for violating article 6, clause 2 of the US constitution, We can 100% identify that constitutional noncompliance is a systemic problem. And the systemic problem is still having genocidal consequences for the entire race of indigenous peoples. That is systemic racism, and it is right in front of the American people’s face and yet most Americans still can’t see it.
Times have never been better then today. Reality is harsh one needs to learn to cope with it and humanity needs to grow. Ouh, not talking about the US btw, that country is fucked.
I was there... I seen with my own eyes how all the good people came together to stand up for not just thier people but for our resources. Water is life!! No drugs, no alcohol, many tribes coming together as one to protect or natural resources. I volunteered in the kitchen while my husband was in the front lines. I was scared for him. My husband and many others went up against militarized police and armed cowards, unarmed. They prayed, to those they stood against. I heard the sound of the drum though the night into the morning. It was sacred, it was beautiful, it was standing up for the people. Not just the indigenous people but, for all the people. Our children and their children to come. Water is life. Mni Wiconi. Protect our waters. We need it to live. I witnessed history and I seen what what evil happened to those that stood up to protect our waters, the people and our future generations. As an FYI to some of the comments, Colorado has what is called "the split estate". Business men, politicians, and judges got it pushed through years ago for their profit. What it means is that when you purchase a property, the land is split up into surface rights, mineral rights, and water rights. Not sure who they think owns the air, probably the FAA. Anyway, you might only be purchasing surface rights, and you can put a house and/or a barn on the surface. But if someone else owns the mineral rights, say the railroad company, then they can frack under your land without your permission and likely harm your water. If your house has a well, you can use the water, but you don't own the water, unless you bought the water rights or you go and do what is called adjudicating the water through the water courts. The oil and gas companies will offer areas of home owners leases to drill under their properties and use their land surface if the home owners own the mineral rights. It gets a lot more complicated, and an entire branch of law practice is dedicated to water law, another to oil and gas, etc. Colorado is really messed up. And then they allow developers to form their own little governments that have the power of eminent domain. If they want your land, they'll take your land for pennies on the dollar. And they are going to keep raping and raping and raping. The entire Colorado Front Range is being destroyed, right now, with seas of composite shingle roofs being packed together in developments. And then there's all the strip malls. We're a repugnant race.
That's why I say and feel the way I feel. "You never truly own anything in this country". Pay your mortgage off but don't pay taxes. They have many different angles to take what you thought you have paid for.
Hi Tina thank you for sharing this information about Colorado s land status- I like your joke about the FAA too! How long until this becomes the new normal?? I think maybe similar distinctions are drawn in other states also but maybe not do extensively? I live in Canada and I think we have some issues along these lines but maybe it’s not as impactful as where you live. Mineral rights mainly and fracking in Canada is mostly done in the province of Alberta. But yeah, if there’s anything of value under your house your barn or your rangelands you can bet yer last dollar they’ll have a way of grabbing it off you, won’t they.
@@haylus3636 Really just shhhhhhh... So the genocide by the nazis was 'legit' war in your book? Because they only killed 11 million people but 55 million native americans were killed. That is genocidal colonization by unequally armed forces, not war.

@@jamesdeclan7538 LMAO you must be ignorant or illiterate if you think they don’t. STOLEN LAND IS STOLEN LAND no matter where you’re at
@Flavius Belisarius There are countless treaties the government illegally ignored and used to STEAL native land and when the natives did not comply there were murdered!
As for the 1st nations peoples fighting each other, of course they did because they had been forced onto smaller and smaller areas forcing them to compete with each other for resources like FOOD.

you’re right!
