I am so glad you spoke up! That is not a natural disaster! Cancer causing chemicals do not just erupt from the ground! Your village deserves compensation from the industry who caused it! I would never have believed it, except for the video footage and your story!
I live in the city of Sidoarjo and yeah kinda frightening and sad seeing something like this happen
But Somehow this place become our city main attraction and whenever i tell someone about my city the easiest way is just say "Lumpur Lapindo" and they 100% understand
This is why women are precious they are driven by love and family, not material objects. Atleast the good ones are!
Such a sad story, a very strong woman
I knew about this situation, I was just hoping when it was going to come to light 🙏🏻
Ya Allah permudahkan lah segala urusan mereka ..😢
So we all just laying back and accepting 30 second unskippable ads?
Only if you're cheap
Harwati, I love your drive, your commitment, your spirit...
You have made our world a better place...
Ibunya sangat bijaksana semoga keluarganya sehat walafiat dan diberikan pemulihan ekonomi dari pemerintah
Indonesian here! My uncle work there as truck driver. He knew thats place gonna f*** up since first day
The plants are our hair, the air is our breath, the land is our body.
I kept thinking how strong & wise she is throughout the whole interview, and she still got those badass mentality after experiencing such tragedy. Thank you, VICE, for spotlighting this very issue!
Vice, where is the donation link for this lady and her movement? You covered her story and fed your audience, how about helping her?
Up
Up
this is like 15 years ago. everyone have adjusted their financial circumstances, no need for donations.
She's incredibly intelligent and real. Bless her.
can't believe you report about this. Indonesian media feels like have been forget about this one. Thanks to all of the Vice crews.
Thanks for posting this Vice.
You have to feel sorry for the poor people and animals and I'd say that the government must help it's people because it's well known that fracking causes earth tremors in the same way that if you live on a floodplain you are bound to get flooded from time to time, a clue can be found in the name itself, floodplain, an area that's prone to flooding.
So when the nearby mining companies deny that they triggered this I don't believe them, it's more than likely the mining companies activities won't have helped matters, so how can they prove it?
Ibu pun pasti ga akan ngojek kalo ada bencana lapindo. Semangat trs bu!! Saya nangis nontonya
Semoga para warga yg terkena dampak bisa perlahan pulih dari segala luka
What an incredibly resilient lady.
Thank you Vice. As an Indonesian, the story of Lapindo hot mud is already forgotten by our media :(
I watch this twice and she is incredible woman, hope she and her community where affected by that mud will get justice
Congrats Vice for awesome work, great to see someone still inform this information, and well done Ichi as Director!
What an amazing woman! 💖
i remember my college teacher say that toxic mud volcano in porong ,sidoarjo
because the company just want to use cheapest method and not thinking
about consequences that can occur and when the toxic mud voclano happen,
Lapindo want to make this a natural disaster because they want goverment to pay compensation and did't want to take responsibility pay compensation to toxic mud volcano victim and in my
personal opinion why the victim of mud toxic volcano still did't get compensation until now
because lapindo owned by aburizal bakrie who have money and influence in politics so he can dodge from this problem until now
i was today years old when i learned that mud volcanoes were a thing. all condolences to everyone affected.
This is getting insane, Lord please protect these innocent’s citizens and living things there and that this mining company gets prosecuted and gets what is coming for them because this is certainly uncalled for and unnecessary they need to take account for there actions like adults should do. Sadly, there making it unsafe to live on earth, polluting the air, and several other environmental concerns come from Greece, Africa, Asia, Etc and this doesn’t get stoped at all its like it’s okay in today’s world it’s sad and disturbing tbh. This women is extremely tough to push throw all this pain and suffering of others around Her.
I love you guys thank you so much for your wisdom and wishes
Amazing words, strong woman, huge respect
See what happens when we hold oil/coal/polluting CEOs and chairpersons in higher regard than environmentalists?
No more coal or oil
15 years.... And it's still come out non stop
Instead of translated captions could we get an actual translator? I'm not always watching but listening while doing other mundane tasks. It would be a nice feature to these shows
Praying for them 🙏
This is a perfect example to us, how exploiting resources while neglecting the environment safety will cause disaster and catastrophe. Shout out to vice for bringing this topic because until now there's no justice and compesation from the goverment.
Thank you Vice for reminds us that this disaster happened.
if the corporation who had make lot of people suffer can just get away, its the government mistake by let it happen.(bakrie - sby era government)
Just imagine a mud pool the size of 12 square km held in place by 15 m wall, which used to be dozens of villages and thousands of people living there
Warga Sidoarjo kuat-kuat emang!
The only men that could even attempt to kill a volcano would have been Red Adair or Boots and Coots, oil well wildfire fighters extraordinaire. They and their teams founded the industry of WWFF and killed some nasty wild well fires worldwide for decades. Ol' Red would say "nope" to the job and walk!
I love that Vice doesnt dub their words but it is hard for ppl who are blind/seeing impaired to listen along unless they speak the language. Hopefully someone can come up with a solution to this.
how many blind people watch UA-cam?
@@SandLion you are aware many people listen to youtube right bud? There are sounds. You can hear them.
Next thing you're going to tell me you had no idea blind people enjoy television shows? Or are you just arguing semantics like an insufferable pedant?
actually many of the residences from that area were compensate, it may not restore the life they used to have but at least they were compensated. The mining company was owned by a famous politician family that is why it took so long (more than 10 years) to settle the feud.
