3T users should wait for the 6 but new users should get the 5

I don't have the 3T but i do have OnePlus 3. So is it still worth the upgrade?
Specs bump aside, the reviewer forgot to mention a very important upgrade in the OP5: additional LTE bands. This means better coverage/speeds and more global roaming compatibility. The limited number of bands was my biggest gripe with previous OnePlus devices, but finally OnePlus listened and caught up with the competition. Here's a comparison of the bands in the 3T vs 5:
3/3T: Band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300)
OP5: Band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 28(700), 29(700), 30(2300), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500), 66(1700/2100)
That's a pretty significant difference which shouldn't be overlooked.
d3Xt3r Agreed 100%. Cellular bands are a *very* important spec - after all, a smartphone without network connectivity is useless! I'm surprised so many people are ignoring this important feature, the #1 purpose of a smartphone is *communication*, it is a communication device first, everything else is secondary and therefore the bands it has should be the first spec to check.

d3Xt3r Not many of OP users are heavy travelers. And if you do travel, you can live couple of days without LTE on the beach, anyways, most likely there wont be any 4G where you are going to...
If you do buisnes outside the country - it is better to have pair of phones just in case you lose one with all your contacts.
I think the frequency bands for 3T that you listed here is the international version. The US version did support different bands; it is really difficult to find any US version 3T for sale now, even in ebay.
d3Xt3r For most of OP users the only good thing about having all those bands in smartphone is the fact that they will be able to order the device from China or US and save some money if they are live in Europe.
I have scrolling screenshot in my 3T... Don't know why oneplus is showing it like if it was a new addition.

actually it has better ram than most of the laptops because this is ddr4x and most of the laptops have ddr4

yeah they're different but still LPDDR4X is really strong compared to some ddr3 and even ddr4 models

I got the 3, and the 5 isn't worth the upgrade. They made such a great phone! why the small upgrade? ya know? Some folks like 4k that's stabilized and better stabilized low light footage. That's my biggest gripe, other than that... Try shooting low light photos, at 1/2 sec, which is better at low it's lowest iso? ;) bingo.
I'll save my money for the 1+6. Great comparison :D
Kyle Ruggles Hold on now, this is just the 5, maybe they will release the 5T in some months time. That will be the phone to upgrade to.

I miss the design of the OnePlus 2. Specs weren't too great with it, but the design will always be a staple to me of good build quality.
i have the oneplus 3T , and I wanted to get the oneplus 5, but now that that i know all the new features, i will wait for a other phone, maybe the oneplus 6, not gonna sell my 3T and then pay 250 extra for a better camara
at the begining of this video i thought my internet connection was so fast...
OnePlus should have optimized the one camera setup, kept the battery size from 3T & added ip68 water proofing. cos the dual camera cost so much now the price is not attractive anymore...with just a little more money, u can get a real flagship phone. I still love my 3T

Mehdi Chtibi That's your opinion. Some people may need the extra RAM or the added LTE bands. There are LOTS more LTE bands added in the OP5, making it a great choice for people who roam or use a carrier some of whose bands are missing from the OP3. My carrier uses Band 28 and my OP3 doesn't have it, so I'll be upgrading to the OP5 for this reason alone.

i don't have problems with carriers,and 8 gb of ram on a phone is a joke 6 is more than enough.
Mehdi Chtibi You not having a problem with the carriers is your LUCK not your opinion, and RAM is YOUR *usage* requirements, not your opinion. Just because you don't need 6GB RAM doesn't mean others don't either. If you want a phone with low RAM then there are plenty of options out there. OnePlus is the only decent company offering such a high-spec stock Android device, and I for one am glad that there's at least one company that is catering to the enthusiasts.
d3Xt3r 8 GBs of ram is sooooo overkill. 4 or 5 GB's with apple's optimization is good enough 👌
Cory Tyler No amount of optimisation is going to help if you want to run dozens of apps in the background. I play Ingress + Pokémon Go at the same time + have a dozen other related apps all open at the same time and can switch between them with ease on my OP3 - without any of those apps having to reload or lose connectivity. This is impossible on an iPhone due to its limited RAM and restricted background operations. With the OP5 I can do even more, like have a Windows or Linux VM running in the background for instance. It just opens up so many possibilities.
Besides, optimising the OS at such a low level (to match iOS) isn't the OEM's job, it's Google's job.

yep my 3t is better looking. I was really waiting on this phone to come out until I saw it. It is still very nice but my black edition 3t is still lighting fast and it makes no sense to buy this phone when I've only owned the 3t for a few months. I'm giving it to my wife and I ordered the LG G6 international edition, which was only $475 on Ebay brand new with expandable storage and 64gb of internal storage and it has the 32 bit DAC.

The OnePlus 3T also has the extended screenshot feature. I don't understand why reviewers continue promoting it as if it were a new feature that just came out. Anyways I don't see much reason to swap on over to the 5 from my 3T.

The scrolling screenshot feature is on both phones. I like the look of the 5,but the 3t is so good that I can't find a compelling reason to upgrade, try as I might :-)
I honestly don't know why people think the 3ts vibration motor is bad, I honestly like it...

i love my 3t... bit disappointed abt OP5, no ip mark, smaller battery (was hoping for 4000mAt like the most of Xiaomi) and not much more but camera upgrade which is good but not enough to upgrade.
