Tavares (also known as The Tavares Brothers) is an American R&B, funk and soul music group composed of five Cape Verdean-American brothers. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, they would later move to New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Tavares is:
• Butch - Feliciano Tavares, born 18 May 1948.
• Chubby - Antone Lee Tavares, born 2 June 1945.
• Pooch - Arthur Lee Tavares, born 12 November 1943.
• Ralph - Ralph Viera Tavares, born 10 December 1942.
• Tiny - Perry Lee Tavares, born 24 October 1949.
1975 turned out to be their most successful year chartwise, with a Top 40 Pop album (In the City), the No. 25 hit "Remember What I Told You to Forget", and their biggest hit, the Top 10 Pop/No. 1 R&B smash "It Only Takes a Minute", which was later successfully covered by both Jonathan King and Take That, and sampled by Jennifer Lopez. They parlayed this success into a spot as an opening act for The Jackson 5. KC and The Sunshine Band was also on this tour. "Minute" was followed by a string of hits: "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" (1976), "Don't Take Away the Music" (1976), and "Whodunit" (1977, another No. 1 R&B hit).
'Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel' was no. 1 in the Netherlands Top 40 in 1976.

My dad married my stepmom when i was 5 years old. She is now 80 years old and this has always been her favorite song and every time i listen to it I can't help but think of her and all she did raising me. I am now 57 and call her all the time to thank her about a wonderful job she did raising me and my brother and sister. Thanks mom.....you can never be replaced!

YES! I was only 10 when this came out. I had their CD and it's magically disappeared. I came back to them recently because I was reminiscing about music of my youth. As I talked about the Bee Gees, I mentioned More Than A Woman and this song along with Disco Inferno. I am 8 years younger than my other siblings, so I was blessed to be exposed to their music. Real singing, great wardrobe, and great choreography! A kinder simpler time. I miss those Chic Good Times!

The 70s music was amazing and such great times, and the fun and excitement we had just getting dressed up and hitting the discos and dancing the night away. I wish we could have a time machine and go back to those days. Music of today just can't compare.

This song is fascinating when you really put your ear to it. The rhythm carries the melody throughout the entire song. Yet it's never repetitive or overbearing. There's a lot going on within the instrumentation as well as the vocal performances in every section of the song. No part is exactly the same. Everything in this song just seems to totally click. Great composition and recording. It's a masterpiece of our timeless BLACK musical talent and cultures contribution to HUMANITY!

@@familykaplan1341 Glad you like the song Heaven... by Tavares too! BUT sorry you had that experience in discos. Back in my dancing days, that upset me when I'd see women turn down a guy. Around 2005, a man with M.S. was rejected by a few women & made his way across the dance floor & I was delighted when he asked me! Holding onto each other was so joyful, and gave us both more balance. The women later told me they thought he was drunk, but they missed out!

This is a perfect example of when Singers/bands/groups used to have talent. Just look at the pride they took in their appearance, choreography, and overall stage presence, not to mention you can actually understand the lyrics. Just an example of the amazing talents that were all over the place in the 70's, I am so lucky to have grown up in that era, and young people now days will never realize what they missed.. Born in n 1966, this is the music from an era of real music. My heart cries when I try to tell my children that they should enjoy life sing and laugh. Today kids are getting more and more lost. This social media is destroying them, taking them away from real friendships, they think they are socializing...but that technology is isolating not bringing people and communities together. Its vey sad.
My bit of advice is anyone young is listening...smile, wave, laugh and love. Don’t leave it too late, you only get one chance at life.

That Song it's so great and beautiful, I started listening it a couple of months ago and their melody it's a charming to my mind. And I feel very emotional Everytime i listen it, daily. As a 14 year old boy living in the dutch countryside I was amazed at their costumes and their dancesteps. I wanted to dance to this music and what a very romantic idea that Heaven was missing one of their angels who returned to earth for romance. The song always makes me happy.
