So with the remakes for Red/Blue Rescue Team released, I have a question: Some people have been asking if I would post updated versions of the music compilations with the new tracks, but I also want to wait until an Explorers remake. What do you all want?
0:00 PMD1 vs. Rayquaza 3:32 PMD2 vs. Primal Dialga 7:39 PMD3 vs. Bittercold (Phase 1) 11:06 PMD3 vs. Bittercold (Phase 2) 15:09 PMD4 vs. Dark Matter (Phase 1) 18:47 PMD4 vs. Dark Matter (Phase 2)
Here's my take on things here: The reason why none of these sound like the stereotypical "HERE I AM" final boss music is because it's not supposed to be. The music isn't supposed to highlight the power of the boss; it's supposed to highlight the importance of the situation. The entire game built up to THAT MOMENT. This is where the fate of the world rests on YOUR shoulders. I think the music is supposed to reflect that. And considering the fact that most of the actually final themes (not counting phase 1; GTI also doesn't have this) incorporate the themes for the more emotional scenes (PMD1's Run Away motif inside Defy the Legends, for example), I think it's also supposed to make you reflect on your entire journey. This is the final guardian to your destination, and it gives you time to reflect on the journey up to and including that point. You've seen how you've changed, how you've gotten stronger. In an anime, this scene would probably be laden with silent flashbacks intertwined with the fight against the last boss. So in that sense, I think this music does it's job very well. The main series Pokémon games do a good job with the "in your face" final boss themes because getting to the Champion IS your goal the entire time. In PMD, the final boss isn't revealed until much later, and even then it's only another (albeit extremely difficult) task for you to overcome in order to get to your ACTUAL goal of saving the world. I think the best example is Rayquaza in PMD1: You never wanted to actually fight Rayquaza. No, your goal was to destroy the meteor that was hurdling towards the planet, and Rayquaza was the best one to do so. The fight happened because Rayquaza refused to listen to a couple of seemingly unimportant trespassers. But as you fight Rayquaza, you're being plagued by so many thoughts at once. If you lose, everyone dies. If you win but can't convince Rayquaza, everyone dies. If you can convince Rayquaza, everyone lives, but you must leave your best friend behind. At the though of leaving your friend, you reflect on everything you've gone through. You realize just how much stronger the both of you are. You realize just how many others you've met along the way. You realize just how much they depend on you, and that you'll have to leave them too. The music is supposed to bring these feelings out, not the "THIS IS THE FINAL BOSS" feeling, and I think it does so splendidly.
YES!!! I don't really feel as though SMD has done this, though. There really is no drama in the piece (phase 2) at all--it has a good melody, but is somewhat repetetive and can't follow through with giving it any real emotion except for everything being a confused blur. I do think GTI did a pretty good job with the song but not with the boss itself.
+Macy Narang As someone who went through almost the entire PSMD soundtrack and listened to the phase 2 song quite often, I have to disagree. Defy the Legends would probably be the most repetitive out of all of them, due to it only having three short musical sections, each being a particular melodic line being played multiple times with slight variations in the harmonies and percussion lines. Fight to the finish was when it really started becoming more melodically complex, though the harmonies were mostly extremely simple. However, there's much less repetition with the melodic lines save for the light pizzicato string ostinato which plays through most of the first part. Bittercold part 2 has a very strong rhythmic ostinato presence and I think it really brings in elements of emotion, even though it doesn't incorporate elements of other GTI themes (from what I've heard). I don't think PSMD's final battle theme is confusing at all. The melody is always being played by one or two instruments at a time, and there are mostly choir, strings, percussion, and the occasional percussive synth embellishment playing for rhythm and harmonies. As for the emotion, I think that would come in more easily if you've at the least been able to acquaint yourself with the rest of the soundtrack. I think that's how Fight to the Finish works so well. It's a good song in it's own right, but there's so much more emotion welled up in the composition if you've gone through the game/soundtrack and familiarized yourself with the Time Gear motif, even more so if you've managed to connect to it. Who knows? Maybe PSMD's final battle theme may be the same.
julie martinez That's what I was trying to say! Now that I've played SPMD, I can appreciate the soundtrack a bit more, but I still don't see why Dark Matter makes a "really good" boss theme. It really didn't make me feel anything, so it didn't stand out in my eyes, but it overall is a good song. c:
*PMD1:* A dragon that's actually on your side but won't fucking listen bc you didn't knock *PMD2:* A corrupted god of time that's fighting to destroy its own future *PMD GTI:* The final weapon of a suicide cult (you know, for kids!) *PSMD:* The very embodiement of evil I mean These games are badass ok
+Sky Paladin Many people said only GTI had a hole in the plot, R/B rescue team and T/D/S explorers also had a hole in the plot but nobody pointed it out. xd
+Papa Noel 1. I think time gears were supposed to be inside of temporal tower, but they were located in random places. Why?! If Darkri did it, why 3 pokemons(uhh.. forgot the name xD) were guarding it? 2. After ending, Darkri was completely... umm.. y'know, tries to screw stuff just to gain power.. It's okay.. but something is really empty. 3. In the game, a pokemon(forgot the name again xd) says if you stay in the area where time is stopping, you'll get stuck in there forever. But... then, how is it possible for grovyle and other pokemons in the future to move freely but not being stucked? 3. Where player actually came form? I mean, there's no human in the past, and the player is the only human that exists in the future... wut? was player magically spawned in the air or what? 4. Player didn't actually have to hurry to save the world. If player fails, player can just time travel back... lol
+Espeon804 As of this moment, Sky Tower. ( Really hard when you did solely was was needed to progress the plot. Now in Explorers of Sky I'm grinding like I'm in Eterna Forest with my Nuzlocke. It's been taking me weeks.)
+Espeon804 Sky Tower. Fucking Shuppets with their walk through walls shit and fucking Aerodactyls with their fucking Agility and Ancientpower. I'm still a little bitter, in case you couldn't tell.
+Espeon804 Temporal. I recruited a Duskull so the final boss was easy. In temporal tower there were always monster houses with Pokemon using agility and discharge.
+Daniel Mendoza Team Rogues, Team Skull, Gyarados, and Team Meanies are some guys I can name off the top of my head that were evil, at least until they changed for the better.
Daniel Mendoza Team Skull and Team Meanies outright tried getting the main characters killed, Gyarados was planning to enslave a colony of Phoine, and Team Rogue was going to rob a dumb kid blind after breaking his spirit completely by betraying his trust. Come to think of it, Skuntank planned to kill Wigglytuff as well. He specifically said that Wigglytuff was "finished" before trying the Noxious Gas Combo on him.
Final battle of PMD Red and Blue: "Rayquaza, look up" "RAWR IMMA EAT YOU!" (Beats Rayquaza up) "NOW, look up." "Alright alright...oh fug, it's the Armageddon." "Fire ya lazer!" "FIRIN MAH LAZER!"
LE SPOILS! OMG! Your adopted father is the one turning everyone to stone! OMG! Your friend from school turned on you! OMG! Your friend from school PRETENDED to turn on you! OMG! It will remind me of what happened to my Fennekin par- PEPPER, WHY DID YOU LEAVE MEEEEE!? THIS ISN’T HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO END!!!
I've got a theory for you all! (SPOILERS!!!) Both the Bittercold and Dark Matter are described as the embodiment of hatred of Pokemon, right? Well, Dark Matter is an entity that existed in the ancient past. When Mew and the human defeated Dark Matter, it was said that it split into pieces and scattered over the world to collect more hatred to be reborn as a more powerful being. Well, what if the Bittercold is one of the shards that was scattered into to the region where Gate to Infinity takes place, more specifically the Great Glacier? The Bittercold came to existence due to hate and negativity. So, it might be reasonable to think that this shard had more negativity compared to any shards absorbed in it, becoming powerful enough to be able to freeze the world. And further prove my point, the core of the Bittercold is the same color as the core of Dark Matter. Pretty neat stuff, huh?
At first, I thought the non-Pokemon final bosses were really strange, but the more I think about it, the more epic they are. With Rayquaza and Dialga, you know their types and what kinds of moves they can use. You have at least some idea what you are up against, even on your first attempt at beating them. With Dark Matter and the Bittercold, I had absolutely no idea what to expect becuase they were enemies I had literally never had any exposure to. As a final boss, a Pokemon just can't strike the player with that type of bewilderment. When I first played GTI, I was extremely surprised by the mere existence of a non-Pokemon enemy.
@@paledrake i mean it did a bit better ig you know expecting a non existant mon in a pokemon game is already something they did push the limit in a way
@@paledrakebittercold is from people in groups slowly drifting away and being colder and becoming more isolated Dark matter is your inner dark emotions, like getting sad from literally a rock hitting your leg or smth
Rayquaza's was the least severe fight with the least severe song to use it with, as when you think of it, he has common sense unlike all the monsters on the later games. Primal Dialga was a sad fight because the MC, unlike the others was going to die and they knew it, so the song sounds both hopeful and a bit sad. Bittercolds first theme? Ech. Second theme? Yeah, it does it's job very well. Dark matter's theme? HOLY FUCK MY EARS WILL DIE OF THIS EPICNESS I NEED THIS GAME.
Personally, I would love to see a mystery dungeon with Arceus as the final boss. The plot could revolve around a situation similar to this... After many years of peace and harmony, and crimes becoming extremely rare, the rescue team guilds were starting to become less and less needed. So after a while, they were disbanded after a lack of jobs and income. Skip about a century later, an outbreak of crime plagues the globe. Crime rates soar through the roof and the number of "impure" pokemon skyrockets. Arceus takes notice of this disturbance and investigates. Disgusted by the alarming number of impure pokemon, he loses his faith in all pokemon and decides to "cleanse" the world of these tainted souls so to speak. His signature move Judgement has the power to eradicate any pokemon. However there is a condition to this, Judgement only affects those with an impure heart. That's where you and your partner come in. Growing up in a shady town full of crime, you both tire of watching those close to you become victims. So after scouring the library for solutions, you discover a book that tells the tales of the great guilds and rescue teams who once kept peace and harmony. Inspired by the tales, you both decide to start the first rescue team guild in over a century. "Fill in rest of story" once you encounter Arceus, he'll tell you why he believes all pokemon have lost their way and that he needs to stop them. While you and your partner try to convince him otherwise. During the battle after every turn, Arceus will activate a different plate, changing his type and moveset. I figure this will add some difficulty. After defeating Arceus, he decides that he's finished humoring you and starts to use Judgement. After being enveloped in the blinding flash you both open your eyes to see that you're both fine. Seeing as you both were pure of heart, Arceus finally acknowledges that there are still pure pokemon, and promises to spare the remaining pokemon on one condition, you and your partner have to cut the crime rate down by half across the globe within 2 years. This is the postgame.
Uh-huh. And how will that rescue team thing work without a board with rescue notices? Not to burst your bubble, but yeah. Other pokémon won't care one bit about them, "the fuck is a rescue team even lol u guys are weird" will probably happen.
The Dark Matter 2 theme is/always will be my favorite Pokemon theme, but there's just something special about Dialga's Fight to the Finish that makes it one hell of an amazing theme.
@@Hetsu.. Someone did time stamps back in 2015, but after thinking about it...for a few years...I went, yeah, I'll do one myself. Makes more sense, I guess.
I have to agree. That's because this battle made us MOVE AROUND and it took awhile. Unlike bittercold. You just sit there attacking it and faint 1000 times
for real. its sad that gates kind of killed enthusiasm in the franchise because super was definitely the sequel that explorers of sky deserved and it got so slept on

I remember very vividly just how intense the primal dialga fight was, and the theme made it so much better! Probably one of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life
I feel like I'm the only person who likes the fact that the last two PMD game's final bosses aren't pokemon. It really adds to the atmosphere when you don't know what type of being you're fighting. Especially when the lives of everyone on the planet are on the line.
+The hoenn Starters tAllkInG lIkE tHis is the best way to make it seem like multiple voice talking at once. Because Dark Matter is made up of the negative emotions of every Pokemon, it has the voice of every Pokemon.
love how dark matter's 2nd phase theme wasn't it's own music but actually your PARTNER's theme :,) the remix just portrays how much the partner has grown throughout the main story. comparing it to the other four, it's the most epic one so far, kinda showing how this is truly the endgame for the MD series
i know that undertale got way to much hype and that the community are cringy children. I know that mystery dungeon is 100 times better than undertale, i myself have every single mystery dungeon. but i still feel there are some similarities.
if they ever want to make a pmd 5, think of what will happen then, the return of darkrai? legendairy pokemon suddenly turning primal and destroying that what they protect, all pokemon become unable to evolve or something, or a forgotten legend appears and is out for revenge for those who sealed him away, its alway great, pmd always has the greatest storyline
i'm afraid pmd4 is the last pmd game since it's called "super" too. well maybe they just don't have an idea for the name so just name it super? psmd itself are like ripoff from the other mystery dungeon.. not gonna spoil anything on here well even if that's real i still want badly pmd 5!!! i love pmd :")
i hope they make a pokemon boss instead of none pokemon boss :/ dark matter is good thought since it talked not like bittercold who silence XD (this ain't spoiler is not it?)
+malva barentra I think that's a stupid reason for it to be a ripoff game. Like the infamous phrase, "Don't judge a book by it's cover". Don't judge a game by its name.
Honestly, I think Bittercold was actually somewhat of a decent boss, and I enjoyed the challenge of fighting it. Maybe the fact that it's a snowflake meant to be symbolic or something. Bittercold was the embodiment of negative emotions, so maybe the fact that it's a snowflake is meant to represent (some) pokemons' cold hearts and/or bitter attitude. And I actually kind of liked Gates to Infinity. No matter what anyone else says, I did actually enjoy the game. Anyway, I guess that's my opinion on Gates to Infinity and Bittercold :/
Gates to infinity is a great game i do have issues with it like the pokemon you get to play as and not being able to do multiple jobs at once but i think the main thing that really gave it a "the weakest in the series" vibes was it always being compared to the explorers games which in my opinion is a near perfect game
This video is making it into recommended I keep watching this vid when im playing games at the same time just to add the epic music lol #RebornThisVideo
PMD3: "The people in the world are so bad it wants to die." PMD4: "The evil of the world is too great and wants the world to die." The ending is the same tbh. Though PMD4 is much better and treats you as a mature child instead of a 5 years-old
what i say is that the Dark Matter was the bittercold done right. I think that after the somewhat unsucessfull GTI the writers liked the idea and wanted to try that story again, this time learning from there mistakes and spending a lot more time on it.
I'd say Gates did a far better job of that style of story (even if it was far from perfect.) The whole evil in the world plot didn't make a lick of sense in Super since the nastiest character we came across who wasn't brainwashed was Krookodile, and he wasn't even seen doing anything wrong. Sure, Gates forgot 'show don't tell' a lot, but at least the misery aspect was there.
@@poiuygfd47 all of them are good endings, but GTI was definitely the weakest, if I had to rank them I'd say GTI last, R/B and PSMD are tied, and EOT/S/D are the best.
6) Rayquaza 5) Bittercold phase 1 4) Bittercold phase 2 3) Dark Matter phase 1 1) Primal Dialga 1) Dark Matter phase 2 That's not an error, I put those two themes on the same level.
W33DMAST3R 420 Considering how some Pokémon are formed, Dark Matter and the Bittercold aren’t exactly unrealistic. For example, Bannette was formed by a toy's feelings of being abandoned by its owner. How different is that from Dark Matter and the Bittercold, which are amalgamations of negative emotions? The only real difference is that they don’t have the creative name of a Pokémon.
Bittercold 1 REALLY gets you hype for the last boss. The incredible amount of bass and the somewhat uplifting beginning tell you that it's gonna be the greatest challenge of your life, the highest peak, a true test to see how far you've come, then it hops into that section with the high pitched strings and the chorus which reminds you that the world is about to fucking die and you shouldnt play around, then the transition to the looping point reminds you to stay focused on the task and not let your worries get in your way.
dialga's weakness mirror move "Dialga used roar of time!" "Totodile took 109 damage!" "Torchic's mirror move reflected the attack!" "Dialga took 123 damage!"
I ONLY BEAT DIALGA BECAUSE I GOT LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T USE ROAR OF TIME FIRST, AND THEN I COULD SET UP MY PARTNER AND ME, THEN HIT IT WITH OVERPOWERED DIG, BRICK-BREAK, AND MAGICAL LEAF (Partner had magical leaf)
Ngl I love Bittercold's theme (part 2). I know it's basically just Dialga Fight To The Finish again, but I really think it sounds better and it has a perfect "epic icy fight" vibe
Although I haven't played neither GTI or RT, I can't judge it. But, *-chomps cheesecake-* With PSMD and Explorers, I believe they're absolutly amazing. With Primal Dialga's Fight to the Finish theme, it really sets the mood for the end. You and your partner are racing to stop the planet's paralyses, before it turns out like the future. You're doing this for Grovyle's sake - everyone from the future's sake. As you go through Temporal Tower, the tremor's start, and the world's falling apart as you speak. It is both you and you're partner's duty to save both Primal Dialga and this torn apart world. And with Dark Matter's 2nd Phase, it gives you hope that everyone is counting on you and believing you, while everyone is frozen and it seems it's all over, you know that this is the final quest. You and your partner, which have gone though several things together, are going to save everyone and the entire world. Just because you evolved doesn't mean it makes you strong, it's YOU who makes yourself strong. So you and your partner are going to take down Dark Matter, no matter (hah) how many times you get taken down. There's no space for giving up now!
In my book, they keep getting better and better. I've always thought Rayquaza's theme was too lighthearted sounding. Dialga's is a better, but still a bit light for the fact everything being destroyed. Bittercold music captures the dramatic feeling pretty well. But man... The DarkMatter2 music just SCREAMS "FINAL BATTLE. ITS UP TO YOU TWO." Its seriously perfect in my book.
I'm actually less of a fan of the whole "boom everything is now up to you, this is the final battle" kind of theme, though smd phase 2 is beyond incredible. The main line pokemon games are where the champion battles should have the booming final theme. PMD is all about the atmosphere and the journey that led you up to this conclusion. In the first 2 games, you don't really WANT to fight either of these gods. You're being forced to for the world's sake. It makes sense that the battle themes are less of the grand booming final themes.
I just realized. With the exception of PMD 1, all the final bosses, final Pokémon bosses and the final boss period, actually symbolize the games' theme. Don't believe me? I'll show you. PMD2: Theme: Distortion of Time to allow Darkness to reign. Final Bosses, in order: Primal (Or distorted) Dialga and Darkrai PMD3: Theme: The cold relationship Pokémon have with one another. Final Bosses: Kyurem (An Ice-type) and the Bittercold (A snowflake. it may not be original, but it does represent cold) PMD3: Theme: Dealing with the darkness in one's heart. Final Bosses: Yveltal and Nuzleaf (Both Dark-types) and Dark Matter
Dragonlover9000 I mean, Rayquaza misunderstands you and your partner's intentions, much like all of the teams misunderstand you for being a human. Those are pretty close.
I kinda liked how in PMD2, when Dialga can feel your partner's sadness, they kinda disregard the fact the laws of time dictate that, since you erased the existance of a timeline that existed with you from it you were thus erasing your own existance and decides to yeet you back into existance in some "the laws of time are mine" fashion while Palkia is kinda left thinking "wait that's illegal"
Primal Dialga will always be the theme that stood out from me the most. I did grow up with just EoD and still have it and now I have the Mystery Dungeon DX which is a good remake
you should definitely play super mystery dungeon. its the most overlooked entry in the series but its easily the second best in terms of story, and the uprgrades to the combat system makes it the best gameplay experience out of all of them
I prefer it in the Phase 2 of PSMD when you hear the bells and the tone they makes keeps getting deeper.... and deeper.... sounds more like a doom thing. Don't really hear that violin lol
Even though I dislike the concepts of Bittercold and Dark Matter, I think all the bosses have awesome and worthy themes.. and I'm probably the first person to leave that kind of comment here, weird.
My rankings: 1. Primal Dialga and Dark Matter Phase Two (can't pick between em) 2. Bittercold Phase Two 3. Rayquaza 4. Dark Matter Phase One 5. Bittercold Phase One
iDeltaSpark the phase two of dark matter theme has a tiny hit of the partners theme if you listen closely, it means (theoritically) that theres something up with your partner and dark matter, AND THEN (spoilers) YOUR PARTNER AND DARK MATTER DISAPPEAR, ITS KINDA SAD ON THE PARTNERS SIDE BUT HAPPY ON DARK MATTERS SIDE
I was thinking about this for awhile, but in SMD Dark Matter was picking off Legendaries early on in the game...and you don't see Palkia or Dialga in the final battle, think they might've among the first to get petrified.
Am I the only one that actually liked the Bittercold theme the most? particularly Phase 1. Don't get me wrong I love all of these A LOT but I just think the music for Bittercold was different compared to the others.
Constant Vigilance *inhale* While I don’t think Gates to Infinity is necessarily bad, the reason I HEAVILY prefer explorers to Gates is mostly from a few MAJOR standpoints. Gates feels like it talks down to you a lot of the time, and it is so bad at showing, rather than telling. The plot feels childish, everything is spelled out to you, and the text speed is very, very slow. Explorers is extremely dark, feels like it respects the player with the plot, and genuinely is very very entertaining. I don’t think Gates is bad; I just think it’s not as good as every other. I may be a fanboy for Explorers, but I do think Super, for example, is a better game than Rescue Team. ...Nostalgia makes me prefer rescue team, but eh. I get why people like Gates, it’s just the issue with it is how different it is compared to the other games, which others like me have grown so attached to.
@@likoq.deadcall5219ES! SOMEONE SAID IT! PMD FANDOM IS SHIT BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL NOSTALGIC OVER SOMETHING AND IF YOU DON'T AGREE THEY MENACE YOU! like gen 4 fans in general in fact.
Bittercold and dark matter: the coalesced negativity and evil in the world that gained sentience Primal Dialga: driven insane by the whispers or Darkrai. Rayquaza: wants those damn kids off his lawn. One of these things is not like the others 🎶
Since everyone here is making a list, I might as well do my own. 5) Rayquaza / Defy of legends 4) Bittercold 2nd phase 3) Dialga's fight to the finish 2) Dark Matter 2nd phase 1) PALKIA'S FUCKING ONSLAUGHT!
For me, I personally adore each theme. While I have never played GTI I do believe it has given some pretty impressive boss themes. PMD1- I remember first fighting this boss....how much the theme really pumps you up. It perfectly sums up the urgency of the situation and the drive to save the world from destruction. PMD2- This is really my favorite PMD game. And Dialga being the final boss? Hard but amazing, a tad unexpected too. Like the first game this boss theme really does summarize the urgency of everything, though I believe it also reflects more on everything you and your partner has faced. Tells the story of sacrifice and determination. Something that tells what will happen if you fail but what can also happen if you succed. I can't really give opinions on GTI seeing I never played the game but I do feel like these give off a final boss vibe. The Bittercold first phase seems ok, not my favorite out of them all, though is good in its own way. I would think of that song as more of a 'minor' boss theme like Duskinoir's was. I guess in some sense it's suppose to be like that. The second phase seems to also, like I said for the other PMD final bosses, has a more urgent feel....however I also feel like it tells more of a story rather than the fast paced boss vibes the others gave. A bit slower. I don't know, lol. I'll have to watch a walk through or play the game to give a valid opinion in this PSMD- I adored this game. Like PMD2 I could go on a rant about both however I'll keep to my opinion on the final boss themes XD Dark matter Phase 1- I do have to say....I adore this theme. Like the 1st Bittercold phase it holds more a boss theme however I do feel like it potrays the finals boss very well too. Not knowing you have to face it a second time, you fight the Dark Matter with all you have. While there this theme doesn't give off too much story vibe it does hold the situation pretty well. The dark tune, the (as others lol) urgency, a battle between good and evil. A true stuggle. I was pleasantly suprised by the second boss/theme however. While I love this theme I didn't think it held GREAT final battle theme. Dark Matter Phase 2 seems like a very hit or miss theme with people. Personally I feel like this did brilliantly at summarizing the game. A TINY SPOILER AHEAD. At first I was a bit 'eh' on the opening of the song with the 'neeeneee' chant however the more I thought about it....the more I understood. To me this is the chanting of all the pokemon who are relying on you, who believe on you, telling you to not give up, their spirits pushing you forward despite their frozen state . It also is a song of new hope and drive. Just as you are about to give up you are given that hope by your partners determination and all those who tried to stop what seems to be the impossible. I do feel like this is a theme that 'Defies the Impossible' for (as I obviously stated a lot) does seem impossible and forever XD Not only that but the whole song seems to tell the entire story of the game. From waking up as a pokemon to meeting your partner to the guild and the first major boss. Dark discoveries and shocking betrayals, grand adventures and losses, new friends and foes. For me, AND THIS IS MY OPINION PEOPLE, this final boss theme sits perfectly with everything more so than the rest. And....I'm done XD This is my opinion (again) so I can feel how I want just like you can. Please don't hate on it too much lol~
*SPOILER* When Ampharos Celebi etc. started explaining what Dark Matter was at beginning of Chapter 21, I thought, ugh not this again (same as Gates to Infinity). Chunsoft really should've just made Dark Matter = Yveltal (the physical embodiment of something or whatever), just like how Xerneas is the physical embodiment of Tree of Life. And then the final battle could've been against a Pokemon rather than some creepy lump of who-knows-what. Had good battle music, but still.
I still remember playing and listening to dark matter 2, and when those first notes played and I saw my two pokemon squaring it off with dark matter I was like 'omfg I haven't felt this pumped in a pmd game since dialga xD'
To be fair, that intro into phase two of Dark Matter is fantastic and reminds me a lot of that sound clip in Akira, but Fight to the Finish wins my heart simply due to the connection with the theme Time Gear. The mix of the two always made me emotional in that fight. As a side note, anyone else reminded of Yami from Okami by this black sphere? I swear they have the same swirl designs.
My ranking: 6- Dark Matter phase 1, 5- Dark Matter phase 1, 4- Rayquaza, 3- Dark Matter phase 2, 2- Bittercold phase 2, 1- Dialga's Fight to the Finish. :D
The names of the themes were fucking amazing until the second two. "Defy the Legends and "Dialga's Fight to the Finish" Are much better theme names than bitter cold p1.p2 and dark matter p1/p2.
would be interesting if there was a human villain... i mean, in all games, you are a human that became a pokemon... i dont know, i just think it could be a interesting concept that the species that saved the pokemons multiple times wanted to destroy it this time
In my opinion, from best to least best 1: Bittercold Phase 2 2: Primal Dialga 3: Dark Matter Phase 2 4: Rayquaza 5: Dark Matter Phase 1 6: Bittercold Phase 1 Anyone agree?
Honestly, mine would be this, it’s pretty close tho :) 1.Primal Dialga 1.Dark Matter Phase 2 1.Rayquaza 1.Bittercold Phase 2 1.Dark Matter Phase 1 1.Bittercold phase 1 I think you can see where I’m going with this 😌
I'm still convinced we'll get a new Mystery Dungeon game eventually. We just have to be patient. After all, in SMD, the Sand Continent is the only location that doesn't reference a past game.
primal dialga means dark dialga aren't it? (i mean not primal revolution) gti and smd is kinda same :/ well if you don't have smd yet go buy it! maybe the game is like rip off but it don't make the storyline bad
+malva barentra Primal as in primordial, ie; primitive or basic. Dialga went into a state of only self preservation, causing it to go ape and freeze time.
So with the remakes for Red/Blue Rescue Team released, I have a question:
Some people have been asking if I would post updated versions of the music compilations with the new tracks, but I also want to wait until an Explorers remake. What do you all want?
I honestly think you should update it with Rescue Team Dx then if Explorers Dx is a thing then update it again
Rebellious Treecko Make one now just in case there isn’t another game, and if another game gets made, then upload another one
I’m sure it will be cool
I'm not sure there will be another remake. Just sayin...
you should wait
Dialga: "I was primal before it was cool"
the "primal" may have been a mistranslation, tho...
+The hoenn Starters Nah. It's primal as in an uncontrollable force.
Conner Jones Well they didn`t mean it like ORAS primal reversion
+The hoenn Starters it was originally Dark Dialga, but Primal in this sense is still technically correct.
Conner Jones Again, though, primal as in time loss

+lucariotime890 You know, the more I listen to Dark Matter's Second Phase, the more Kirby vibe I get now that people point it out to me...
and the Kirby: Right Back at Ya reference I used.
+Macy Narang The song fits really well if you understand the story.
I get that now as I've finished the game, but I still don't really like Dark Matter 2 as a boss theme.
julie martinez That's what I was trying to say! Now that I've played SPMD, I can appreciate the soundtrack a bit more, but I still don't see why Dark Matter makes a "really good" boss theme. It really didn't make me feel anything, so it didn't stand out in my eyes, but it overall is a good song. c:
Primal Dialga's theme is still the best and most popular one.. but omg... Dark matter Phase 2 is just... wonderful
Understatement.
Both ARE TOP SONGS
Also Bittercold Phase 2
Wait a minute, Defy the legends too...
Ok everything is cool as hell great work Nintendo

+Sky Paladin Many people said only GTI had a hole in the plot, R/B rescue team and T/D/S explorers also had a hole in the plot but nobody pointed it out. xd
+RMaster Which ones? I want to know.. If it is alright for you, of course.
If player fails, player can just time travel back... lol
Now here's the real question;
Where did you die more climbing?
Sky Tower or Temporal Tower?
+Espeon804 Temporal, I prepared for Sky more.
+Espeon804 i think temporal tower
So currently the only TRUE evil pokemon thus far in the series is Darkrai? Everyone else is either controlled, or serving a non-existent pokemon.

+Daniel Mendoza Team Rogues, Team Skull, Gyarados, and Team Meanies are some guys I can name off the top of my head that were evil, at least until they changed for the better.
Jim Shoe Well, I would consider those more of "Trouble makers" than purely evil, but I don't know.
Final battle of PMD Red and Blue:
"Rayquaza, look up"
"RAWR IMMA EAT YOU!"
(Beats Rayquaza up)
"NOW, look up."
"Alright alright...oh fug, it's the Armageddon."
"Fire ya lazer!"

I've got a theory for you all! (SPOILERS!!!)
Both the Bittercold and Dark Matter are described as the embodiment of hatred of Pokemon, right?
Well how about Dark matter is Dark matter's and Zero's child.
Get it?.
Dark matter 02?.
That's what I've been thinking for a while
MesprittheDigimon Dark matter: They grow up so fast...(sniff)
Arctie Mathe too bad Dark Matter was stronger than bittercold :v
My theory is this: The writers were lazy, so they went with a negativity entity again, even though it didn't fit the themes of the story for Super.
Dark Matter 2 and Primal Dialga are the best by far.
Darkaraz I agree with you

we need gen 4 remakes too
Hoping this theme goes all out. No offense to those that like it, but I just don't like it that much. Doesn't really sound like a final boss theme.
I want Run Away to make me cry even harder this time
Hoping we get a explorers remake at somepoint soon too
Very happy they remakin red and blue team. Artstyle looks great too. Hope they remake explorers in the future or release a new title.
I agree with Bitter Cold, but it just felt cheap that Dark Matter did the exact same thing.
@@paledrake i mean it did a bit better ig you know expecting a non existant mon in a pokemon game is already something they did push the limit in a way

Tristian Gant wow...just wow...
Uh-huh. And how will that rescue team thing work without a board with rescue notices?
Not to burst your bubble, but yeah. Other pokémon won't care one bit about them, "the fuck is a rescue team even lol u guys are weird" will probably happen.
Damn that could be a new games plot if you change it up a bit

True, true. I especially like how you can hear a piece of your partner`s theme in Dark Matter`s, assuming their negativity is part of it.
love how dark matter's 2nd phase theme wasn't it's own music but actually your PARTNER's theme :,) the remix just portrays how much the partner has grown throughout the main story. comparing it to the other four, it's the most epic one so far, kinda showing how this is truly the endgame for the MD series
No explorers of time/darkness/sky's partner was better
I love the last one...... Contrary to most fights, instead of you or the boss powering up, you power DOWN.
it gives the same feeling like undertale where you get weaker and weaker and the situation seems more and more hopeless!
SDAGO Please don't compare trash with one of the best games in the world...
i know that undertale got way to much hype and that the community are cringy children. I know that mystery dungeon is 100 times better than undertale, i myself have every single mystery dungeon. but i still feel there are some similarities.
SDAGO I have them all apart from rescue team games but I might get the VC
What do you mean with VC?
if they ever want to make a pmd 5, think of what will happen then, the return of darkrai? legendairy pokemon suddenly turning primal and destroying that what they protect, all pokemon become unable to evolve or something, or a forgotten legend appears and is out for revenge for those who sealed him away, its alway great, pmd always has the greatest storyline
+julie martinez lol I always wondered that too XD
+julie martinez But will the fear of the "something" be lost or strengthened?
i'm afraid pmd4 is the last pmd game since it's called "super" too. well maybe they just don't have an idea for the name so just name it super? psmd itself are like ripoff from the other mystery dungeon.. not gonna spoil anything on here
well even if that's real i still want badly pmd 5!!! i love pmd :")
i hope they make a pokemon boss instead of none pokemon boss :/ dark matter is good thought since it talked not like bittercold who silence XD (this ain't spoiler is not it?)
Pokemon give a cold shoulder and the Bittercold is born. Once everyone start to warm up again, it get destroyed. I think it's a cool concept
Though Gates to Infinity may not be the best game storywise-- the character development is amazing. I LOVE Gurdurr.
Bittercold wasn't that difficult but the Munna Gang battle and Kyurem battle shortly before were insanely difficult
@@allingbrodniak8819 i remember getting wiped out like 8 times before winning the muuna gang boss fight
Gates to infinity is a great game i do have issues with it like the pokemon you get to play as and not being able to do multiple jobs at once but i think the main thing that really gave it a "the weakest in the series" vibes was it always being compared to the explorers games which in my opinion is a near perfect game

PMD4: "The evil of the world is too great and wants the world to die."
The ending is the same tbh.
Infact, you could even call PSMD GTI done RIGHT,if you're willing to take it that way.
MrAppleSalad actually, i feel like that PMD4 is actually a sequel to the story in a alternate timeline

Igglybuff the Prodigy had the saddest ending in any PMD game, in my opinion
@Random Person I'll give you the explorers games, and I can kind of understand super too, but no way gates to infinity was sadder than rescue team.
@@poiuygfd47 all of them are good endings, but GTI was definitely the weakest, if I had to rank them I'd say GTI last, R/B and PSMD are tied, and EOT/S/D are the best.
6) Rayquaza
5) Bittercold phase 1
4) Bittercold phase 2
3) Dark Matter phase 1
1) Primal Dialga
1) Dark Matter phase 2
That's not an error, I put those two themes on the same level.
Me too, man. And in the same order 😁
Fair, I personally think DFttF just narrowly edged out DM P2.
Straight fax
I'm still wondering why they switched from actual Pokemon to, things with pink cores.
Maybe for some big Mystery dungeon game in the future
Dracomon THEDOGE dark matter IS pretty much a sentient bittercold
Bittercold happened when cryogonal and dark matter had a baby. It didn't end well for anyone, really.
(Spoiler: pink Cores are evil dittos)

"Dialga used roar of time!"
"Totodile took 109 damage!"
"Torchic's mirror move reflected the attack!"
"Dialga took 123 damage!"

My level 50 eevee withstood roar of time by a small fraction, put dialga to sleep using a sleep seed and proceeded to spam flail. 249 damage!
After finished the remake... I guess I’ll stick with Dark Matter Phase 2 ... Rayquaza Second...

I totally want another Mistery Dungeon. The final boss would be Eternatus, or maybe the Ultrabeasts. I want it so badly
I wonder how they'd utilize Dyanamax in a Mystery Dungeon setting.
But it's got the potential for some scary bosses.
Ngl I love Bittercold's theme (part 2). I know it's basically just Dialga Fight To The Finish again, but I really think it sounds better and it has a perfect "epic icy fight" vibe
I wonder if bittercold was a weaker version of dark matter?
Look, they even have the same core.
I forgot how much of a banger Dark Matter phase 2 was. Good shit bröther!
The Bittercold themes might actually be my favorite ones. Yiiiikes.
I just realized. With the exception of PMD 1, all the final bosses, final Pokémon bosses and the final boss period, actually symbolize the games' theme. Don't believe me? I'll show you.
PMD2: Theme: Distortion of Time to allow Darkness to reign. Final Bosses, in order: Primal (Or distorted) Dialga and Darkrai
PMD3: Theme: The cold relationship Pokémon have with one another. Final Bosses: Kyurem (An Ice-type) and the Bittercold (A snowflake. it may not be original, but it does represent cold)
PMD3: Theme: Dealing with the darkness in one's heart. Final Bosses: Yveltal and Nuzleaf (Both Dark-types) and Dark Matter
Fun fact: GtI is MD4 and SMD is MD5. The real MD3 is one that only got released in Japan.
Dragonlover9000
I mean, Rayquaza misunderstands you and your partner's intentions, much like all of the teams misunderstand you for being a human. Those are pretty close.
A little late to correct this, but you typed PMD3 instead of PMD4.
I still am upset at nuzleaf turning on me like that, like DUDE, YOU WERE MY FATHAH, WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!
dark matter phase 2 is so amazing
+The Swagatron just the guitar solos and some parts... the other parts are too basic for a sentimental part
+The Swagatron Yeah! It`s so menacing, too.
The part from 20:05-20:35 is probably my favorite out of the whole theme.
n00d13sandr1c3 SAME.
Same 2
I kinda liked how in PMD2, when Dialga can feel your partner's sadness, they kinda disregard the fact the laws of time dictate that, since you erased the existance of a timeline that existed with you from it you were thus erasing your own existance and decides to yeet you back into existance in some "the laws of time are mine" fashion while Palkia is kinda left thinking "wait that's illegal"
Primal Dialga will always be the theme that stood out from me the most. I did grow up with just EoD and still have it and now I have the Mystery Dungeon DX which is a good remake
you should definitely play super mystery dungeon. its the most overlooked entry in the series but its easily the second best in terms of story, and the uprgrades to the combat system makes it the best gameplay experience out of all of them
That moment when the Violin drops in in PSMD the FINAL final fight is the best x3
Which one of the themes? :o
Tru dat, I really wanna learn to play it since I am a violinist
I prefer it in the Phase 2 of PSMD when you hear the bells and the tone they makes keeps getting deeper.... and deeper.... sounds more like a doom thing. Don't really hear that violin lol
violin? which one? I'd like to learn to play it too, since I'm (also) a violinist
PressPunch I like when the people start singing. also did you notice it was a remix of the partners theme?
It's been over 10 years since Explorers of Sky came out. That's wild.
Primal Dialga theme brings back good memories and makes me tear up.....
Well Dialga revived you, so you don't need to mourn.
Cry.
Out of every final boss theme, (and soundtrack) I think I would have to say that pokemon super mystery dungeon is without a doubt the best.
When I beat Rayquaza as a kid I got really emotional... wish I could play it again
Even though I dislike the concepts of Bittercold and Dark Matter, I think all the bosses have awesome and worthy themes.. and I'm probably the first person to leave that kind of comment here, weird.
"I'm fighting hatred, wooo"
Sounds stupid
True people would compare explorers to anything
Pokemon Mistery Dungeon 2 is one of the best pokemon games ever made.
My rankings:
1. Primal Dialga and Dark Matter Phase Two (can't pick between em)
2. Bittercold Phase Two
3. Rayquaza
4. Dark Matter Phase One
5. Bittercold Phase One
I agree, except switch Rayquaza and Bittercold Phase 2's places (No, it's not something to do with nostalgia)
@@redscyther7725 i think rayquaza's theme worked better as a lesser boss theme like in eos as defy the legends
Another person of culture, I see.
wait. Just realized, part of your partner`s theme is in Dark Matter 02`s theme....That`s deep.
To think. Dark matter dethroned Primal Dialga for a lot of people. Dayum.
ikr? lol
iDeltaSpark the phase two of dark matter theme has a tiny hit of the partners theme if you listen closely, it means (theoritically) that theres something up with your partner and dark matter, AND THEN (spoilers)
YOUR PARTNER AND DARK MATTER DISAPPEAR, ITS KINDA SAD ON THE PARTNERS SIDE BUT HAPPY ON DARK MATTERS SIDE
I find Dark Matter's theme a bit too toon-tuney...Dialga however sends chills down my spine.
Hold on... Delta pokemon? Did you played pokemon insurgence? Amazing fan game tough
I was thinking about this for awhile, but in SMD Dark Matter was picking off Legendaries early on in the game...and you don't see Palkia or Dialga in the final battle, think they might've among the first to get petrified.
If I could listen to anything for eternity, it'd be these themes.
Am I the only one that actually liked the Bittercold theme the most? particularly Phase 1. Don't get me wrong I love all of these A LOT but I just think the music for Bittercold was different compared to the others.
DarkAnomaly If you pice Axee and spam Dual Chop, the game is a cakewalk

While I don’t think Gates to Infinity is necessarily bad, the reason I HEAVILY prefer explorers to Gates is mostly from a few MAJOR standpoints.
Primal dialga & Dark matter:hold my beer
Phase 2 was better imo

Bittercold and dark matter: the coalesced negativity and evil in the world that gained sentience
Primal Dialga: driven insane by the whispers or Darkrai.

FACTS
Highly controversial knowing that DarK Matter Phase 2 is a thing
I'll have to watch a walk through or play the game to give a valid opinion in this
PSMD- I adored this game. Like PMD2 I could go on a rant about both however I'll keep to my opinion on the final boss themes XD
Dark matter Phase 1- I do have to say....I adore this theme.
I love the first one. I remember pmd blue rescue team was my 1st DS title. I recall being a Machop partnered with Pikachu.
I also started out with ds and pokemon games with pkmd team blue. I was a machop and my partner a totodile.
Am i the only one who really enjoyed the rayquaza theme?? It's really catchy~
*SPOILER*
When Ampharos Celebi etc. started explaining what Dark Matter was at beginning of Chapter 21, I thought, ugh not this again (same as Gates to Infinity).
I thought the same when I ended the game.
Well they took the good idea from Gates to Infinity and turned it into something that was actually cool and not a fucking snowflake
Let's just hope that the un-forseen future of Mystery Dungeon boss fights won't develop a continuous trend that involves fighting spheres.
Karakourt Lol the sphere was at least cooler than the snowflake
Dank Lord Ganondorf tru

We're going to listen the first song again boys!! PMD Remake has entered the chat

Dark Matter Phase 2 is excellent, but what was the noise at the start of it for? Nobody bothers to ask, and I have no idea why it's there...
ITS DA SOUND OF ALL DA HOPES AND DREAMS OF DA POKEMON CHEERING OUT LOUD
the life force of the tree of life manifested as an acapella cry or chant?
I think it's meant to be a battle cry, but I'm not entirely sure
Maybe this sound was there to hype the ones who are fighting the final boss and give them the confidence to go for one last push

Nice to ear the bittercold themes after 5-6 years, its dramatic and hopeful, and catches the moment perfectly
The names of the themes were fucking amazing until the second two. "Defy the Legends and "Dialga's Fight to the Finish" Are much better theme names than bitter cold p1.p2 and dark matter p1/p2.

+Apiravit Intgarakanchit Same as you, except Rayquaza's theme is tied with D. Matter 2
+malva barentra same here.
Same here. As much as I like the explorers games, dark matter phase 2 tops dialga's theme
would be interesting if there was a human villain... i mean, in all games, you are a human that became a pokemon... i dont know, i just think it could be a interesting concept that the species that saved the pokemons multiple times wanted to destroy it this time
The greatest idea that obviously needs a new PMD🎉.
Gengar: "Am I a joke to you?"

3: Dark Matter Phase 2
4: Rayquaza
5: Dark Matter Phase 1
