    I have a wood burning tool very similar to the stencil burner. I also discovered a pack of clear plastic face shields that I purchased during the pandemic. I cut out an astronaut stencil for a painting I'm working on but I used a tiny pair of scissors instead of the burner tool. There were too many small cuts I had to make and the burner tool wouldn't have worked very well.

    I use pellon to burn my stencils, it doesn't leave that burnt edge that it leaves on plastic. and like someone else mentioned in a comment, I use the stencil burner on top of glass.

    @wleonartistry Love the video Bill.🤘😎🎨 I know this is a few years back, but you can get super tight lines and more use out of the tips( before they wear out) if you burn the stencils on glass. We have a couple of 12 by 12 inch tempered we use that came out of a used display case 👍

    Hello, Bryan McGlothlin here.
    I'm pretty green with a lot of airbrushing technics. I've been around auto body old hotrod's I grew up admiring the masterpieces these artists are slinking out. I just can't get enough of. I'am also laying it down. I have a very good support backing me. Please idk if you possibly could refer me to someone or a shop where I can get the right corrective criticism. To my full potential. I've been told my entire life every dream ever had has been crushed by loved ones man with the motorsports background custom street rods that I built with my father before I was a teenager. Any is GREATLY APPRECIATED

      If you burn them on glass they come out much cleaner. as was mentioned below.. I almost never make my own stencils since one of my friends makes them with a laser these days. and through the years ive gathered hundreds of dollars worth of stencils... Ironically i usually only use a handful.

      How thick should the mylar be?
      Should I put the mylar on top of a glass? Thats what you are saying?

    Would it help to sharpen the tip to a finer point? If the tip had a thinner & finer point there wouldn't be so much wake from the burning if any!

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  2 роки тому

      It would, someone mentioned burning on glass would help as well, I may experiment in the future, but I honestly have all I need for life at this point 🙂

      @TheAIRspace  4 роки тому

      I believe ive been using 6 mil If you hit my kit page
      kit.co/wleonartistry it has a link in stencil material.
      10 mil is nicer and I did have some here. But you can also link off the 6 mil to their other products :)

      10 mil would be my first choice. I rarely cut my own anymore, i have a huge stock of commercial made ones. and still some of my handmade ones which last a really really long time.

    Probably gonna seem like a weird question, but can you use the stencil cutter on paper? Or would it just cause a fire?

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  5 років тому +1

      Nope but a good swivel blade or exacto knife can go right through paper. Aside from texture stencils and freehand shields I rarely use any stencils

    Suggestion for stencils too Bill & Guys on here. If you can afford to do it of course. I make my stencils out of card stock believe it or not using an Ortur Laser Master 2 which is under $200. You can find stencils very easily online to use to laser cut them clean. Your Welcome :)
    If you have any questions about it, fire away :)

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  3 роки тому

      certainly a laser cutter is a way to go. And probably something ill get into eventually.
      This is a pretty old video of mine , i do have several very nice laser stencils. and likely will buy more. But there are still a few of those old ones I made that hang around in my pile. No question laser stencils can hit a higher level of quality.

    • @TheAngryArchieShow
      @TheAngryArchieShow 3 роки тому

      @@TheAIRspace I just find it easier from a practicing standpoint whereas if the cardstock is no longer usable, I can just cut another in a few minutes. Not only that but, its like a try before you buy thing. If I like or use it enough, I would be more inclined to buy the mylar ones.

      Im in the process of being able to add them. When I made this video I was a very new channel. Long story short amazon kicked me for being to small. I just today reapplied for amazon affiliates.. and should be able to get and post links again. Bear in mind this is an older video.

    Can you do text, letters?

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  4 роки тому

      you could, however there are much better options for lettring. Personally i have a small plotter to use for things like that. But i have hand cut paper stencils before. However lettering stencils are best done with a sticky material. This is a good technique for textured stencils and freehand shields which is where mylar excels. One off stencils are crisper and better on other materials.

  • @holycowish
    @holycowish 5 років тому

    There is no links???

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  5 років тому

      yes about that.. Amazon kicked me from the affilliate program. They said i was not an established channel yet. So all the amazon links are now dead or gone. I apologize. I am able to reapply there soon. However the mylar is easy to find. And the stencil burner as well. In another month or two I will be able to reapply and have their links again.

      Also Rodney if you are in the states and one is local, hobby lobby sells stencil blanks, and a stencil cutter. The stencil blanks they have are simply mylar as well. Thanks for stopping by!
