Nearly everything you said here reminds me of how much and why I’ve also suffered from near default workaholism and am slowly getting out of that mindset. Doing animation has become a secondary aspect of my life in lieu of adult responsibilities and it’s only getting worse. Society continues to inform us these problematic habits of forcing change in our lives that do not benefit us as much as it says otherwise, and I’m always happy to see people share their alternative views to benefit their lives. Keep up the great work.
Oh wow yes! The default workaholism is so hard to break. I’m happy to hear you resonate with this and that you’re working on breaking that natural default setting!
This is such great and practical advice from anyone experiencing art block. And I LOVE "This Is Water." So much wisdom packed into that speech. Also, I'm very sorry to hear about your housing situation, that sounds so stressful :( I hope you find stability soon ❤
Thanks so much Christina! It seems like we have a very similar taste in books. 😊 it’s looking like we are moving out temporarily. Hoping repairs are done in a few weeks and my studio can return to being my cozy little art space soon!
Ok... you've just described my own case. I wanted to work on my watercolor botanicals and instead I have to spend time trying to find an apartment to move because I'm evicted from the apartment that I'm renting now.
Oh nooooo! This is my biggest fear right now and it totally sucks. Sorry to hear you’re going through it too but hope that you’re having luck touring new places!
@@MelMitchJackArt Yes it sucks because I don't have only to find a new place, it is that I have then to pack my things and move. And what is driving me crazy is that I'm evicted because my landlady wants to turn my apartment into an AirBnB. It is very hard to find small apartments for long term rental in Athens ( Greece not the US one).
So sorry you have to face this ! Renting is honestly so difficult for our feelings and anxiety : I had to leave my flat last year, and travel across the country because I lost my job (my university decided to close off several jobs in my field to save our salaries, it overworks the people who are still employed, and it's detrimental for the students too) ; I'm safe, living at my mum's place who was nice enough to rescue me for the duration of my job hunting, but it has been so frightening to loose everything overnight.

THATS AWFUL I hate that they’re evicting you just to go the short term route. 😓 the packing and cleaning part is the hardest for sure.
Thanks! I was working on typography for a conference project going into my portfolio.
Amazing! Thanks for working alongside me!

Thank you! Sorry you had to move cross country due to job loss! That sounds so intense, but glad to hear you're safe!
