You guys may have just saved me, I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now but have no desire to do OTR. I was looking for either paid training, or companies that hire new drivers for local routes. The former is easy, but they stick you OTR for at least the first 3 months. The latter seems impossible, they all want one year experience. I just need to get the training and experience so I can be an owner operator, without quitting my current well paying but unsatisfying job. This company not only has a local terminal to me, but it has job openings in already qualified for (been a mechanic for 20+ years, cars, boats, RV’s, have a heavy inspectors license) I’ll be calling them early this morning, thanks guys.

I've been with XPO / Conway for 29 years out of Oakland and Sacramento. The information this man was saying is correct. I just like to add to it.
Dock worker start at around $17 an hour. Top paid is 28 plus dollars an hour. The dash cams are in the trucks, but nobody at my terminal has ever been fired because of one. The Dock Workers can join the school, you don't get paid for the school. You work your 8 hour shift and then go to a 4-Hour class. XPO is located in every major city in the United States. P&d drivers make around $70,000 a year, give or take 10 grand. Line drivers could make as much as $120,000 a year, depends on the Run. If you're interested in truck driving as a career, XPO is your best choice. OSH :-)

I'm a P&D driver at R&L Carrier's. Been here 10 years. The first five years I did nighttime linehaul, the last five I've been a city driver.. I've had my own dedicated route the same route for 5 years. 9 a.m. Monday through Friday gig.. 2019 I made right at 90,000. No weekend work. 5 days a week.. so many drivers need to look into the LTL side of trucking.. get paid for your time!!.. I always talk to an XPO driver on my route, nice guy. He's outta Dayton, Ohio terminal... I'll never leave LTL. Crazy to drive OTR, miss out on your family for less money...

A family member works for xpo. He started on the docks and got trained in house for his cdl. 8 hours on the dock then 4 hours unpaid training for his cdl. At first it was a seniority game and he only got runs when experienced drivers got sick/took vacations etc... but after a while he has a steady route every day and is home everyday. He doesn’t work the dock anymore and earns $31 dollars an hour. Xpo isn’t for the weak of mind or heart and can be a great career.

Another homerun video. Hourly waged companies are the diamonds in the rough in the trucking industry. Too many vloggers ignore their presence. XPO is a solid company with a really sharp CEO and have a bright future. Many of their drivers are multi millionaires simply through the purchase of their stock. XPO stock has soared through the stratosphere over the past 10 years.

Hourly wage is making a strong push in this industry. It has too to address the severe driver shortage. The pay for CPM SCAM has run out it's course and is a primary reason for the driver shortage. Folks need to wake the fuck up and stop giving into the CPM SCAM and demand their off time is worth something !

I currently work for XPO joined on September 14 2020 did 9 months before joining their class for trucking (had it paused due to Covid) during that 9 months I was getting paid 17 and some change next thing I know I got a letter saying it was going to get bumped up to 18.99 an hour as a dock worker that was amazing now as a driver for XPO for over 2 years I’ve seen my pay rate jumped from 29.30 a hour to top pay after my year was about 35.75 now we are currently 37.15 and heard we are getting another $3 rise sometime this year here in California we average about 74-84 a year but with ot working are full 70 a week we can see six figures easy. Especially if we get offered to work at a different state or different terminal and have to stay away from home we get paid daily for being out plus hotel and rental paid by the company. One thing to add is if we do eight hours here in P&D and if we work the dock we don’t get our pay cut in half if we are ot and worked the dock after doing 8 hours it’s ot pay which for top pay is 54$ and some change an hour.

They came back with there were small gaps in my employent. I explained to them with craft people that is how it works. you go with headhunter companies to projects, and when the project is complete. you go home till called for another. They said because of the small gaps I they wont hire me....where is a company that will take someone with an absolute clean record? I have even been to college with a bachelors degree and welding school.......and gaps between projects I go on for welding is the reason I cant get hired? At XPO Logistics Freight the drivers are expected to work the dock at times depending on their job assignments and service location. They pay in upwards of $27/hr after 3 years of employment for dock work and city delivery routes. Where else can you be paid that high a wage to operate a forklift on a freight dock? It's more than a generous wage for that type of work. If you hate doing any type of work other than driving, then this company isn't for you, but if you don't mind it, then you can have a good paying career with this company.

We bring on kids who refuse to work and management won't do anything about it except push the senior drivers harder. They are more worried about social media image than moving freight safely and efficiently. If you are looking to get your cdl and don't know anything better....this is your place. If you are an experienced driver who wants to run....the only thing you're going to be driving is a Toyota forklift.

XPO suck's for a family guy. Go to an OTR or Regional Carrier. Your stuck on a Flex Board. You have no start schedule i.e. your always called in and have 2hrs to report in. You never know what your schedule is. It always varies. 10am, 11am, 2pm. You'll get your 10hrs off from your shift. However, trying to get sleep between shifts sucks. For instance, you may get called in at 8am on Monday. work 13hrs. Get called in on Tuesday at 2 pm. work 8hrs. Get called in at 8am on wednesday. The problem is, sleep between shifts. Because after working the 13hr shift on Monday. I went to sleep. Slept 8hrs. Didn't get called in until 2 the day.
XPO pays amazing. Overtime after 8hrs in a day, also all hours after 40hrs. Unless your on linehaul. Then you get mileage .71cents a mile.
It takes about 3 years at my terminal to get a (Bid) for a start time depending on the length of a flex board. Some guys have been on the flex board for 5yrs, some 8 months. It depends on when you come on board, people leave, etc.
I worked for XPO for 3 weeks. I recently left. It wasn't for me. I felt like the recruiter was misleading. People need to understand the Flexboard.

But if you already have a CDL, they won’t touch you w/o 1 year OTR experience.

maaan i saw all these comments i am MOVED to give my input. YES there are drive cams. some of them go off a lot or a little depending on the truck youre using. YES to dockwork. You work the dock side by side with dock workers and at most times really cant tell between dockworkers and drivers. and depends on your area. im in dallas tx ALOT of dock work here. you get hourly pay doing drop hooks also. so at 30 mins a drop and hook thats usually 2 hrs just in that every night/day. the trucking school here you will train 4 hours a day and then work dock for (up to) whatever you have left on your 14hr clock depending on their needs. actually not too bad of a gig the WORST downside is unloading these trucks there is a LOT of different freight. and usually the guy who loaded doesnt care about. the next guy on the receiving end. sometimes you literally have to fight to get this stuff out of the truck. and you have to become a forklift whisperer to unload these trucks. im gonna assume this is the same for all LTL. this is great if you have the knack for it. but this definitely will be my first and last year.

USF Holland, Sia and Averitt Express are jokes as well as Triple A Cooper, RL Gator is decent. To make money at the freight company's you have to do line haul, the city drivers don't make that much. XPO Logistics Freight is facing a hiring shortage of qualified professional drivers, and in lieu of this, many locations are offering even more incentives for CDL training, sign on bonuses, increase to top tier wages in a shorter time frame, etc. Most of the people complaining in the comments section about the job are whining millennials who aren't willing to pay their dues by earning seniority and work their way up to advance into an easier position within the company.

I love how people blame millennials like they’re the ones who set everybody out into extreme poverty while the 1% old fucks poverty pump the fuck out of everybody and you sit here pointing fingers at kids who see communism out in the open lol

Xpo is a good company to start at but not stay at. You can make 80k-100k a year on linehaul easily and city p and d do 55k-75k. In ohio ky and west v Dock workers start at 17.80 with no experience or top pay at 22 an hour with a year of forklift experience. Drivers start at 24 and top out at 30. Linehaul guys get .54 a mile then .71 a mile. And yes you can get your cdl through them through the dock to driver program. But there are better ltl's out there liked old dominion that have better equipment and dont force dock time

Xpo is a joke, they were better as Conway. Come to odfl, 50 60k first year and 80 to 100k once you get the ball rolling year 2 and up and home every night not lumping food. BTW our dock guys start at 20.00hr scaling out over 25.00 he and yearly raises
