One year ago, this week, I was able to get 35 FPS on ultra settings with 5 monitors in MSFS2020. Here's to progress! 🍻

    MSFS2020 BETA 1.27.13 Released 8.4.22 Testing
Sorry, another video with no audio. Again, I'm just focused on testing out different graphics settings. I assume these will be my worst-case frame rates, as I don't fly NYC often and everywhere else on the map should be better than this.
This video shows the Quality Changes I experienced in the different DLSS and DX11 vs DX12 settings.
In this round of testing I noticed a clear benefit to running DX12 over DX11. 26 FPS vs 21 FPS on High at BGM. Though it doesn't seem like much, that's a 24% better Frame Rate. I'm find the lack of smoothness below 25 FPS really effects the user experience, so I'm trying to dial in a compromise of settings to maximize the visuals while keeping FPS at 30.
I also noted in this testing that dropping the graphics to low allows me to really boost the LODs and still get 30 FPS. On the other hand, putting the graphics to Ultra and dropping the LODs to 25 resulted in a frame rate below 20 FPS. This goes against my previous thoughts that I am strictly CPU limited, and as a result, can crank up my settings to ultra while keeping the LODs at 75 to make sure my GPU isn't sitting idle. I'm getting pretty tires of messing with this though. still keeping my fingers crossed Asobo optimizes things so I can eventually run High - Ultra with my hardware (which I thought was pretty good)! At some point I'll make a spreadsheet to more easily organize the data created from this testing.
I attempted to recreate the 30 FPS experienced by Da Sim SIMMA in his youtube videos. Note he gets 30 FPS in BGM and ~14 FPS in NYC.

    My System:
    Ryzen 9 5900x
    RTX 3080
    32Gb RAM
3x 1080p Monitors (Scenery), plus 2x 1080p Touchscreen Monitors (Instrument Panel)
Background Tasks Running while MSFS2020 is Running:
Air Manager - Touchscreen Instrument Panel
FaceTrackNoIR - Tracks face without an IR camera setup (free application)
MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager - Enables MSFS2020 Pop Out Panel Touch Capability and Pops Panels into Air Manager Windows with single mouse click
    OBS - Video Recording
    Zoom - Virtual Green Screen
LetsView - Screencast Phone Avare moving map to PC
XConn - Broadcast Simulator GPS location to Phone for Avare Moving map on phone (I fly with this app on my phone is real life. "Train like you fly.")
3 Webcams - Front facing, Pilot's View, Face Tracking
The Pop Out Panel Manager is still working great. the only reason it didn't seem aligned at one point is because I got rid of my 3rd monitor that didn't match the other two and got a new one that matches. Now my scenery aligns properly at the bezel between the center and right monitors. I adjusted the Pop Out Manager Profile to reflect this change to my windows display settings.

All you gotta do is set it to low! 🤣

What's up Matt . Do you think the multi monitor setup would work on an ultra wide 49inch monitor ?

It will definitely work. The question is what will the performance be.
If you have the same hardware as me (5900x, 3080, 32Gb RAM) and you have 5 1080p monitors your performance will be similar to mine. If you have 1 less monitor because you use 2 ultrawides, your performance will be better than mine and you can turn your graphics settings up. If you have two less monitors than me because you're using 1 ultrawide, than your performance will be way better than mine. This assumes your monitors are 1080. If you stop up to 1440p or 4k, your SOL because that way more pixels the system needs to render. Im struggling with 5 1080p monitors. You would need some pretty insane hardware to run multiple 4k monitors, if it's even possible (I tend to think not).

@@mcorrive12 thanks for your quick response. Im just using one 49in ultra monitor in hopes the screen will split up in 3 monitors

@@njbpaul I think you need Asobo to provide better Field of View support in their multi monitor integration than they currently do. Right now you have the option to select the resolution for the multiple windows you pop out, though I'm not sure it is very conducive to running different aspect ratios than a standard monitor. Take my thoughts with a grain of salt since I haven't looked into it... That's just off the top of my head.

@@mcorrive12 Will find out for sure when update 10 is released if it supports ultra wide monitor. Thanks again for your answers. By the way have you completed your cat 11? I passed the 10 on the 2nd attempt and pass cat 11 last weekend. 11 was probably much easier for me than cat 10.

@@njbpaul I haven't tried the 11 yet. Summer time is always busy with plans and real world flying. My recent simming has been more just trying to get the multi monitor and touchscreen capabilities dialed in. I think I spend more time building and tweaking the sim than I actually spend flying it. That'll change when the weather starts getting cold again and I don't feel like preflighting the real airplane! 😆
