Go take a "Discovery Flilght" at one of your local flight schools. They'll let you take the controls on your first ride up. It's a whole different "feel" with gravity and G-force applied.

Frame-Rates? Are you using 3 windows or one? I am using one window for 3 monitors and it doesn't stretch them out wierd or anything, it looks correct. However, there are some funny things going on with the instrument locations for mouse-clicks. I get really fast frame-rates however. My two outside monitors are portrait mode upright 2K 27" monitors with the middle monitor being a 34" ultrawide. I get 3 across and it's amazing and I get 60FPS. Should I go to 3 rendered windows ? I'm not sure that it will allow me to do what I am doing now (i just use the middle part of the 2 outside monitors (portrait-mode)) meaning that let's say you tilted a 27" monitor 90 degrees, that is how my two outside ones are setup. But of course it's only rendering in the middle of each of those two because the 34" monitor is a widescreen and right in the middle of the portrait mode units, like they form very wide letter "H" if that makes sense?
@@dabneyoffermein595 I use 3 windows, setup in the experimental tab. You can roll/pitch/yaw each camera to get everything lined up, it's not perfect but it's pretty good. Frame rates are 165 in the middle, 65 on the 2 outsides. Not sure what I'm getting overall but probably close to those numbers.
The Nividia Control Panel has a feature on the left side panel called Configure Surround, PhysX which is 10 times faster to setup and align. It also has a built in feature for bezel correction which you can adjust (it provides a crosshatch image to make this easier). You can then pan or translate to your heart's content while flying and the image will always look correct. No matter where you are sitting. And no matter if you are in cockpit, external. or Drone view.
But to see the effect after making a new bezel correction, you must leave Configure Surround and goto Change Resolution. There will be a new resolution option labeled Bezel Correction. For instance if you created a bezel correction value of 54, then you will have for instance a choice of "2560x2880p" or "2614 x 2880p bezel correction". 2560 + 54 is 2614. You can use either the non beze correction resolution or bezel corrected resolution.
definitely going to try it today, thanks for the clear demonstration and tip, I wonder how it would end up with me as I have monitors of different size
I have a three screen cockpit with smaller monitors on the dash for instruments. MSFS needs to add an other slider adjustment for vertical height- in addition to the existing three. Horizontal roll offset and vertical roll offset are not sufficient to line up everything at the bezel while keeping the ground looking level on the left and right sides. (I also had trouble entering the numbers in the boxes. The zero kept jumping in after the digit when I cleared everything and the decimal point also deleted itself if I cleared a decimal digit - so I would always have to enter the decimal again.... as well as making sure a zero did not insert itself.) I am surprised MSFS did not just look at what XPlane has done and duplicate that. UPDATE: As per Al Heeley's tip, I found that you can adjust the numbers very accurately using the mouse wheel. Hopefully though, they will eliminate the duplicate fields that appear in the control window for adjusting the extension views.... and hopefully they will eventually provide a means of lining up the cockpit independently to the environment.... because currently the environment can be lined up perfectly but the plane frame is not - and vice versa.
I highly recommend an ultrawide 32x9 aspect ratio monitor for flight simulator vs multi monitors. I play at a resolution of 5120x1440 and from my desk position the monitor fills up my side to side field of view. From within the cockpit it feels very realistic and I prefer it to playing in VR.
Stop giving me idea!!! Hahahaha! That really does sound like a great idea. I'm playin on a 31 inch 21:9 monitor right now with decent FPS...when I try to go triple screen the FPS just dies so yeah I think just a few extra pixels on the edge would be the better option. Which Monitor are you using may I ask??? ya know.....just for curiosity's sake and all.
I have the same monitor as you but the stretching is annoying as it was in multi monitor prior to this update. I won't be going back - just a shame they cannot find a way to display multiple images on a single monitor.
I've tried both and honestly, I prefer multi monitor when multi view is available, like it is in MSFS2020 now. The distortion on the left and right edges is honestly annoying and I'm glad it isn't present anymore with multi view. There isn't a way to remove that when using one single monitor, as far as I'm concerned.
Another great video! I'm struggling with VR on my G2 due to poor image quality (blurry displays, tiny sweet-spot) I only have a single 32" monitor - would I be better going for a larger (50") monitor or adding two more 32" monitors?
@@SimHangerFS Hi, yes thanks, i have seen just about all of your great videos :) The issue for me in VR is that the cockpit displays are not sharp enough, I can fix it by turning off all antialiasing but then the outdoors are way too jaggy. They need to implement some sort of mixed antialiasing so we can have sharp displays plus great scenery together. I'll keep the VR for fun but i do think now that a multi-monitor setup will give me better results albeit not 3D.
Yes, a much wanted feature. I want to put a LEFT SIDE view on one monitor and RIGHT SIDE view on a second monitor while the front view is on my 3rd monitor. I don’t need them to line up with adjacent monitors. Will this release accommodate that type of setup?
What about using a second monitor for your external views only and placing it to one side of your main screen for a constant outside view of your airplane!??! That’s what I mean to achieve but this video was all about co joining monitors so you can have a side view through the right window.
Did Microsoft finally added the functionality of FS2004 of undocking instrument panels ? Or is it still only 3D cockpit where you have to zoom in to the panels losing the aerial view ?
Perhaps I missed it but is there a way to save this so it opens with the same multiscreen settings? Mine opens as a single whenever I restart the sim and I have to set it up from scratch...
When you have multiple monitors and you bring up a new aircraft, you have to reconfigure the left and right window to align with the center window. I would think that flight Simulator should be able remember each rendering window for each aircraft. Am I missing anything?
Mark - Great video. Just confused on one point. You mentioned FULL SCREEN. I have seen other similar (but not as good) videos that say to use WINDOW mode. I am setting up a 3 monitor cockpit. What is the correct mode and why. Thanks. Keep it up!
@@SimHangerFS Thanks! I must say, of the many, many recently produced resources that have "attempted" to describe using multiple monitors under SU 10, you have provided the ONLY followable instructions for a geriatric newbie like me. I followed your directions and -voila. I was using 3 monitors! I was surprised to discover that I actually had to render 1 window for each of the three monitors. This became clear when I "discovered" the "original screen" nestled behind the rendered window in the middle. When the offsets were entered and applied, the 3 windows were all in the correct orientation. It now all makes sense! Your ability to communicate clearly is to be admired.
Thank you Mark for yet another great video - You are my favorite FlightSim CC! A question: I have a 3-monitor setup and use Nvidias Multimonitor "3D Surround" to have "one big Windows monitor" which works well with MSFS - What would you say would be the advantage of using MSFS Multi-Monitor setup instead?
The problem with surround is it stretches the image to fit. Therefore the items displayed at the edges look larger than they are. Windows maintains a more accurate view, but more hassle to set up.
@@SimHangerFS Thanks Mark! I looked at the Russ Barlow video you linked, and then browsed his other videos - And there was a full comprehensive video on that very subject! So now I really understand this (and you were of course right)!
I have four 24” monitors three of which are using nvidea surround, if I want to use the multi monitor function I’d have to disable it and then reset all my resolutions back to default then set up the sims multi monitors. Then once I’ve finished flying reset it all back.
Mark, Does the new MSFS sim allow different views ( say the inside cockpit view to be run 0n Monitor 1) along with say an external outside view on the Monitor 2 ? My two monitors are upper & lower. Thanks
I appreciate your input Mark. I have tried doing this, but for some reason when I go to the experimental menu, and when I add render windows and restart sim, my physical monitors do not show the view at all. I do see multiple windows minimized on my main displays, but these minimized windows are not appearing on the other monitors. Any suggestions? Thanks
How do you move a GPS (PMS GTN750) or the ATC controls window to the side monitors? They only stay in the main front monitor. But it would be nice to have them to the side monitor
I have some big issue with pop up instrument window. As workaround I woul think to use new render option just focused on the PFD and MFD instrument.. Thus I don't have allignment issue. I just want to have some panel always in good view. My second monitor as a different screen resolution because the first one is 49" curve. When I set up the render monitor I have to use the resolution of the second monitor?
Every time I switch from menu to flying or vice versa, and switching between VR and pancake mode, the side screens "jump" back to hide behind the main screen, I have to go to options, make them into windows, and then back to full screen in order to put them back to the side monitors. This is extremely annoying, do you know any way to keep them there or at least can put them back where they belong easily? Thanks
Mark, I have an ASUS Predator 34P 3440 x 1440. I would like to add a couple more monitors to my setup, but I don't want to buy the 34P for those. I was looking more at 27" monitors with 2560 x 1440 resolution. Would this work as far as blending all the monitors together? I know the ideal would be 3 of the same, but that is not in my budget at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using MSFS 2020.
@@SimHangerFS I use master/slave computers on XP and have been able to have 280 degree view and maintain 75+fps at 1080p on 48" monitors. I would like to be able to do that with MSFS2020. Using XP11 while waiting on MSFS2020 I have been able to increase my true ppl training and beginning ifr training but would like to also do it on MSFS2020 because the graphics are outstanding.
hi, i have 3 monitors, middle ultra-wide 34" 3440x1440 curve screen, two outside monitors are 27" upright in portrait mode (also 2K (1440p) monitors) A really crazy thing that I'm able to do is just setup one render window and then stretch if left and right by taking the mouse and moving it out wide left and wide right. Once I let go of the mouse key, it snaps it to the correct resolution just perfect for each of the monitors. Of course, with two outside monitors upright in portrait, i don't want them full-screen and sure enough they are not and that is awesome. So, i get 60+ frames this way and it's amazing. the only issue is that you can peel upward using the mouse and grabbing the bottom border and there is an original layer underneath. and it seems to swap the original layer for the "on-top" layer when I need to use the menus etc. And i notice that instruments are not where the mouse clicks think they are, but sometimes they are depending on which "skin" (original skin or rendered windows 1 skin) is on top. This is great at the same time a bit confusing at times. I can live with it for sure because the speed is unbelievable. I just can't believe it knows how to snap the right resolution to each monitor after the stretching (it's like it knows what I want to do). I don't seem to be able to figure out how to do 3 rendered windows. Again, two outside monitors i just want the middle part to be used as the 34" middle one is exactly centered to the portrait mode monitors. So, in other words, the middle part of each of the 1440p 27" monitors are being used in this "stretch config" , which is great, that allows me the top and bottom of each portrait mode monitor to have other things showing like SPAD and websites and other utilities. I have a fourth monitor down below the 34" 1440 Ultrawide that is an extra monitor connected to my motherboard and setup for touchscreen when needed but I also can put littlenavmap, MS Add-On Linker and a bunch of other things on the bottom screen (4th screen). I hope they don't mess with this and take this feature away, but perhaps you can tell me that if I were to do 3 window renders, will I get the same performance (i have a 4090) and again, Im getting about 60FPS with the monitor setup with MSFS?
Im confused on the angle of your monitors .Do you have 2 monitors or 3? . Does any of this conflict with Nvidia surround view or the win 10/11 set up surround ?
so you cannot setup different views on 2 monitors, for example, i just want to see the cockpit view on the second monitor which would be on my right side of the main monitor. my monitors are 2 different sizes.
i have started an home cockpit build with Captain and FO seat if you have only 2 screen and you want to have the 2 central bezel screen in the middle of cockpit view , do you have to set -45 on left and +45 on the right ? or the best of the multiscreen is a 3 screens configuration (1 central + 1 left + 1 right) ?
1x 32:9 2x 16:9 monitors... hers where the MSFS has problems... tried connecting the 32:9 as two monitors for a total of 4 displays.... can not adjust... x-plane does a great job with monitors
I have been experimenting with triple screen but have been disappointed with my frame rate. I am not sure if something is configured wrong or if I am set up correctly and this is the frame rate I should expect to get. I am on a system with a 5800X3D and RTX 3080, with 1440p main screen, and 1080p side screens. These three screens add up to less than one 4K screen's worth of pixels, so I was hoping to get a consistent 40 FPS or so. However, I only get 25-35 most of the time even with settings turned down a bit.
Do we need to have nvidia surround on or off as the moment I try add a window it crashes everytime! I have 3080ti 1440p monitors and no problems with amy krher games except this 1, so annoying.l can't work it out.
I've been trying to figure out how to fix my rudder it's acting erratic one I stepped on either pedals it goes out of control don't know what to do anymore any advice please
Mark, I followed your you tube instructions exactly but my virtual window 1 and window 2 never appear. Any suggestions? Also, is there a way to split the pop out PFD and MFD so I can place them on separate monitors?
This must be the most unintuitive multi monitor funtionality of any current simulator. Of course I understand that, in a flight sim, the view ports are not necessarily aligned, but it’s common enough with aligned triples to at least consider it. I spent hours trying to get this right, without ever managing to get it to a decent level. In fact, I gave up on the whole sim for quite some time due to this. Just as you, I eventually chose to fly in VR, but that has other drawbacks. I feel that MS/Asobo didn’t quite funish anything. Multi monitor support, but not quite working. VR support, but not quite there (thinking of lacking controller support), etc, etc. A real pity, because the sim is on most other ways, a piece of art.
Nothing I do matches this. I go through all the steps and all I get is my left monitor. What should my display settings be in windows? This is never addressed from what I can see. At one point he mentions something to the effect that they both match but...
I tried this the day the update came out. I have an i7 12700 and 3080 GPU with 32GB RAM and triple 32 inch 1440p monitors. Setup worked fine but after flying a Cessna for 10 minutes the game crashes.
Does Approach Mode still work for you? Since they made the latest update, Approach Mode no longer works at all on any plane! Even the diamonds on the plane's monitor no longer appear!
I don't like it it's not like Xplane because we cannot zoom left or right to remove the door frame when you have home cockpit like me its not a good configuration.
Mark, What happens to your FPS figure when creating new Render Windows? I get a reduction of 50% with the first new window and 67% with the second. (Crunch meister of the Simstrumentation team tells me that essentialy everyone who pops out instruments into their own windows has suffered this problem since the initial release of MFS, but I never encountered it until SU 10.)
I have the same problem and I don't understand why no one notices this or it is a topic on the forums. With NVIDIA Surround I have up to 90 FPS, but this distortion on the side screens. When I use MSFS without NVIDIA Surround and configure three monitors in MSFS I get under 30 FPS. With DLSS it's a few more, but there are apparently still problems with the blur of the glass cockpit. But that can't be the solution either. When I compare it with racing sims (e.g. iRacing) I have a much better performance with a triple screen setup. Have you already found a solution?
@@berndziebell9957 No, I haven't set up multiple screens on MFS yet. I discovered the problem when I was only experimenting with the new feature, not when actually using multiple monitors. However, the same thing can happen when popping out G1000 displays for use on touchscreen monitors in Air Manager, and I have found a solution for that. I limit the main monitor's vertical refresh to 60 Hz in Nvidia Control Panel and then set the Vsync in the MFS controls to 50%. That gives me a very smooth and steady 30 FPS in the sim at mostly-ultra settings, AND it remains at a "butter-smooth" 30 FPS when popping out the two G1000 panels for Air Manager -- no stutters, tearing, pop-ins, artifacts with a 3080. Without doing that Vsync trick, the FPS can drop as low as 17, just like it does when adding two screens for a multiple-screen setup. Now, to the abject horror of FPS gamers, 30 FPS is ALL one needs for a perfect experience in MSFS on monitors. Chasing frame rates in MSFS is folly if the display at 30 is flawless. (I doubt that 30 FPS, even if perfectly steady, would be great for VR, but in VR multiple screens are not in the picture -- pun intended.)
try using one rendered window instead of 3 and stretch the boundaries left and right, once you let off the mouse button, it will snap all the screens to the correct resolution (won't stretch them blurry at all). Can't believe it works this way. I hope they don't take away this accidental feature because frame-rates kick butt.
I find this set up really bizzare. Why would you not want the main display perpendicular to your face and then have the secondary monitor angled at 35 to 45 degrees? In this odd "V" sort of configuration I would assume you get a great deal of parallax error. Lastly, because left hand traffic patterns are most common in the real world, why not have the secondary monitor sitting on the left instead. That would seem a lot more natural if not having three displays.
I find it odd that the storm clouds on the upper right of your left monitor go from dark to white as they cross into your right monitor. Is this an illusion, or real?
An external light reflection during filming…my poor recording skills…as you could see I reduced the lighting as much as practical. Not visible to me whilst recording. My one monitor also has a glossy finish making it more susceptible to reflections.
it doesn´t work for me. Game crashes all the time and he says something with NVIDIA: "your graphics device has encountered a probleme and MSFS will exit" I have a 3090 watercooled
just use one rendered window and pull it right and left to reach the other monitors, upon letting go of the left-mouse button, it will "snap" the resolution correct to each monitor so that it's not stretched blurry
Hi....I have triple monitors for sim racing but i don't use surround. I thought I'd give this a go today but i can't get it working across the 3 screens. It will render each view, ie, they are selectable from the taskbar, the +90 and -90 views are there but they will only work on the center screen, the two side screens are doing nothing. Does nvidia surround have to be on for this to work ? Thanks

I use surround because it’s how I’m setup for iracing. But in MSFS, my side screens look weird, like zoomed in or thru some lens.
Did I miss where you said what the Windows display settings are? Duplicate? Extend?
@@kylegaming70 but i bet the MSFS screens allow it to run tons faster
Very helpful. Thank you.
definitely going to try it today, thanks for the clear demonstration and tip, I wonder how it would end up with me as I have monitors of different size
Thank you!
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you!
great help thanks for posting!
The zero kept jumping in after the digit when I cleared everything and the decimal point also deleted itself if I cleared a decimal digit - so I would always have to enter the decimal again.... as well as making sure a zero did not insert itself.)
I am surprised MSFS did not just look at what XPlane has done and duplicate that.
Absolutely!!
Can't wait to see someone build a home sim with 3 Samsung Odyssey Ark monitors.
is there a way to have one monitor set to a fixed view? Like on an overhead panel? and the others move together?
Ultrawide is brilliant for fs2020
@@MomberyMochi I'm using a Samsung Odyssey G9
I have the same monitor as you but the stretching is annoying as it was in multi monitor prior to this update. I won't be going back - just a shame they cannot find a way to display multiple images on a single monitor.
I've tried both and honestly, I prefer multi monitor when multi view is available, like it is in MSFS2020 now. The distortion on the left and right edges is honestly annoying and I'm glad it isn't present anymore with multi view. There isn't a way to remove that when using one single monitor, as far as I'm concerned.
Thank you so much for this instructional video. It was superb! 🙂
Another great video! I'm struggling with VR on my G2 due to poor image quality (blurry displays, tiny sweet-spot) I only have a single 32" monitor - would I be better going for a larger (50") monitor or adding two more 32" monitors?
Have you check this out? Might help ua-cam.com/video/u41yLOfYbsU/v-deo.html
You can set up individual views on each monitor
@@SimHangerFS
I can’t seem to get anything other than a duplicate screen.
@@tomfisher8201 you need to set the lateral offset as shown in the video.
Totally forgot.
What about using a second monitor for your external views only and placing it to one side of your main screen for a constant outside view of your airplane!??! That’s what I mean to achieve but this video was all about co joining monitors so you can have a side view through the right window.
Always helpful. Many thanks for your hard work :)
Can’t wait to try this on the Xbox!!
Will this work on xbox x
Old comment, I know, but for those that find it helpful: No: you cannot multi-monitor on an Xbox.
Did Microsoft finally added the functionality of FS2004 of undocking instrument panels ? Or is it still only 3D cockpit where you have to zoom in to the panels losing the aerial view ?
is it right that i have to disable nvidia surround or will it work with surround? i have 3x55" 4k monitors
Yes disable surround.
Thanks a lot for this detailed setup, but..... how to start in Windows, setting up multi monitors ?
Right click on desktop, select display properties…..👍
Perhaps I missed it but is there a way to save this so it opens with the same multiscreen settings? Mine opens as a single whenever I restart the sim and I have to set it up from scratch...
When you have multiple monitors and you bring up a new aircraft, you have to reconfigure the left and right window to align with the center window. I would think that flight Simulator should be able remember each rendering window for each aircraft. Am I missing anything?
Nope, it is an issue.
Go Bruins! Give me the Avs Bruins cup final! I need that in my life!
Mark - Great video. Just confused on one point. You mentioned FULL SCREEN. I have seen other similar (but not as good) videos that say to use WINDOW mode. I am setting up a 3 monitor cockpit. What is the correct mode and why. Thanks. Keep it up!
I say recommended full screen as it is simpler to align displays.
What computers setup do you use?
I miss some sliders to be able to move the image in X and Y; I was using Windowed Borderless Gamming and the result was much better for me!
Mark, Does the new MSFS sim allow different views ( say the inside cockpit view to be run 0n Monitor 1) along with say an external outside view on the Monitor 2 ? My two monitors are upper & lower. Thanks
I have not tried, but I can see no reason why not, just no zoom feature is limiting to some degree.
Thanks
I am at a loss here, it’s a hardware set up issue I assume?
How do you move a GPS (PMS GTN750) or the ATC controls window to the side monitors? They only stay in the main front monitor. But it would be nice to have them to the side monitor
Pop out the window. Mouse over instrument. RIGHT ALT button held down and mouse click. Drag window.
@@SimHangerFS thanks
what are you using to actually connect the monitors?
Display port connections directly to GPU.
The problem will be getting the monitors (view) aligned…different resolution and size will make that almost impractical.
@SimHanger Flight Simulation Thanks Mark.
Hello, can you use MSFS 2020 with master and slave computers for multiple computers?
You can for certain applications. Never personally tried though.
@@SimHangerFS I use master/slave computers on XP and have been able to have 280 degree view and maintain 75+fps at 1080p on 48" monitors. I would like to be able to do that with MSFS2020. Do you know if it works if you second monitor is a TV?
hi, i have 3 monitors, middle ultra-wide 34" 3440x1440 curve screen, two outside monitors are 27" upright in portrait mode (also 2K (1440p) monitors) A really crazy thing that I'm able to do is just setup one render window and then stretch if left and right by taking the mouse and moving it out wide left and wide right.
I’m not sure, I honestly don’t know, never tried it.
Im confused on the angle of your monitors .Do you have 2 monitors or 3? . Does any of this conflict with Nvidia surround view or the win 10/11 set up surround ?
is it the plan or your pc making these sounds?
How to activate experimental option in the general options? I don't have an experimental option in the general options
If your on Xbox…this function is not available.

Hi Mark, would three Samsung g9 49 inch monitors work?
Any pc compatible monitors would work, just be cognisant of the resolution you’ll be using.

so you cannot setup different views on 2 monitors, for example, i just want to see the cockpit view on the second monitor which would be on my right side of the main monitor. my monitors are 2 different sizes.
i have started an home cockpit build with Captain and FO seat
if you have only 2 screen and you want to have the 2 central bezel screen in the middle of cockpit view , do you have to set -45 on left and +45 on the right ?
or the best of the multiscreen is a 3 screens configuration (1 central + 1 left + 1 right) ?
Best is 3 screens for sure.

Set up DLSS to performance.
Can you set up multi monitors on an XBOX Series X for Microsoft Flight Simulator?
No. There is a hack, but not a solution.

Start with them windowed, alt-tab to them, and drag them to the respective monitors. Then switch them to full screen in the settings.
Does this feature also fix the big fps drop when you pop out panels to another monitor?
you will get a drop in fps.
A real pity, because the sim is on most other ways, a piece of art.
can you have cockpit on one monitor and chase plane on the other?
I don’t think so. Single camera active for all windows, though I haven’t tried.
Nope….using loc now
wil dualmonitors slowdown my fps if im runing fs2020 in 4k

How does this work with track ir?
Works okay, but with three monitors you don’t really need TrackIR
I don't like it it's not like Xplane because we cannot zoom left or right to remove the door frame when you have home cockpit like me its not a good configuration.
X-Plane has the best multi-monitor support for sure.
I guess this wouldn’t work with my Tobii eye tracker.
Mark,
What happens to your FPS figure when creating new Render Windows?
@@berndziebell9957
No, I haven't set up multiple screens on MFS yet.
This was purely a demonstration of multi-monitor configuration. Each person will have his/her own preferred setup.
