Hunter, Thanks SO MUCH for the VERY important turbo setup and information needed to pre prep for the Dyno. I know that the more time and reworking a Dyno tuner has to do the more MONEY the Dyno tune will be. I LITERALLY have a Honda spiral notebook Honda " little Black book " to take notes to save me the agony, time and MONEY . THANKS again!
Had a fully built d16 back in the day. Put down 450 to the tire on 35 psi, the ram horn manifolds I tried all either cracked or had boost creep issues. Until I switched to a top mount most of the problems went away. If I were to do it all over again, I would have got the greddy kit and enjoyed my car more. All the custom shit was a pain in the ass.
Greddy real reliable I just passed smog on my turbo kit last month it’s been on my car for 15+ years now and no problems never changed the seals on the turbo yet haha
@@christianguevarra1317 ideally an 96-98 coupe b16a and a greddy turbo kit is perfect! keep ac ps and heat! wish greddy woukd make that stuff again it would sell
@shelby M log manis are cool! In-line 4 not sure if they are still In business, had a nice one. Try to get one with the wastegate flange in the middle instead of the side to avoid boost pressure issues.
I think that boost creep was because it has a 2 bolt 38mm gate. Waaaaaay too small! Lol we only have 2lbs of boost creep on 20lbs of boost with the ram horn we ran but we cut out the 2 bolt 38mm and ran a 44mm instead. Car made great power!
I had that same issue before with my laptop. I found out that it was a router to laptop adapter issue. My fix was a $15 dual band usb adapter from amazon.
Glad you are well or moved forward from the last video. Bummer for the customer having a motor issue but that's hard realities when getting into modifying cars. Haha laughing as instead of " hey man can I borrow a tool? " it is now can I borrow your internet to tune? Pretty awesome to see you pull that power.
Inspecting the oil filter is a lot easier if you cut the element out and set it on some paper towel or pig mat to suck the oil out. It makes identifying whats in it much easier and more obvious.
Hunter just check that there isn't a damaged power steering pulley on that white Teg... I know you check the filter and have a heap of experience on Hondas... but I've had the similar noise on a customers car like it... run it with a belt or inspect the spokes on the pulley for cracks... I watched your last video you posted, man I feel you brother.
It’s where the boost started to creep up. More air more fuel burst of cylinder pressure and pump gas has a lot of carbon deposits running rich on pump gas. As the boost crept up to the spicy range on 14-15lbs it’s a lot richer air fuel to keep it safe
Could also be turbo fading in and out lol lots of variables can’t always assume one thing or another. Especially on a car without many inputs or sensors going to the ecu
keep timing low on d series 17 is a lot not on e85, d sereies love to lift heads with too much timing, on pump i tune them down to 3-8 degrees at 20 psi
Nice, is it common to have a flat timing curve up to redline? Like 10 degrees @ 20 psi from 4500-7000 rpm? Everywhere I look it seems like most ramp up to redline, by mine starts to knock up top, so it seems to like a flat curve.
If you have a good knock sensor and you tune with a dyno then that's where it will sit. I have a ramp in the ignitio map because I am on pump gas, no knock sensor and no dyno for example
@@mihailpetrovici5044 I've been street tuning my built WRX on 92 octane @ 22 psi @ 6 degrees from 3200rpm to 5000 rpm then I have to drop it to 4 degrees out the back and zero wgdc to keep the minor knocks gone.. Building my first Honda Civic d16y8 can I ask why you prefer ethanol compared to pump gas I'd like to see 400hp or under and don't mind running e85 but new to all this do I have to change my fuel lines and tank etc I also need to consult with you one day and possibly in the future get a tune done I know your taking a break but I have a good year before I'm done building lol

@@francescosuarez head will choke power and valve springs will limit you to around stock Rev limit but you still could make that power. Stock cam is really restrictive. So I got a d16y8 turbo completely stock, do I need bigger injectors or can I get tuned with the stock ones ? My fuel pressure regulator says 55-60 psi so I’m assuming I should be good but I’d love some feedback from anyone please
I thought ive heard you and Brent at PFI that we should keep stock bottom end single cams at 200 or less.... so you're saying I could toy with a couple more lbs of boost? 🤔 😀
You can, but after that point the rods can go. A lot of it is in the tuning and fuel quality and not making boost at low rpm under load. Remember it’s not hp that pops rods it’s the tq spike
Please don’t take a break before doing the high compression, small turbo d16 build … I got the manifold and got the hunter tuned wastegaste so far
