Bro made a whole video to convince his wife he only spent 300 on the turbo
😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If I told my wife I could turbo my D16 for 300 shed laugh and shit herself
😂
I will be manual swapping soon! I wanted to thank everyone for all the shares/likes and the support! Couldn't have done this video without your help!
You live in texas now bro?
@@myker105 I have for about 4-5 months now. I love it here!
How far are you from grand prairie? Been fan since you lived in Kansas man would like some legite work done on single cam i got
@@myker105 No idea, I Live in copperas cove,
Ever get around to do the auto/manny swap yet?
This is the best turbo upgrade DYI I have ever seen. Slow and steady easy to understand and no TrapHop music drowning out everything. I’m going to order an Ashanti Turbo but at least I have a little more confidence than before 😅😂 #1 thanks!
Doesn’t matter if half is donated, this is not a 300 turbo kit
Same as I was thinking 🤔 and the other videos.. I really thought he was a really nice guy.. but most his videos he's on about how he's proven people wrong or that he doesn't care what people think and he'll paint his car how he wants.. I think its cool. But then again it seems kinda ass hole ish sometimes
cry about it
@@Bunguth like how he does on his videos?
@@cambodianboost3945 notice by the way he just slams stuff around in the engine bay, he's not a professional I don't think atleast, but he's probably just excited 😊 I agree tho, won't make it far clickbaitin
Title should read "Watch me install this hand me down turbo kit"
It’s a $300 turbo kit… of course it’s used my guy. Budget builds for life lol
Ya like I don't understand like? Why the hate? Sounds jealous sombody didn't offer or give or want to give you a turbo? That's ok wish sombody would give give me a turbo to lmao but I'm not going to hate bc sombody els was given one *SALT* Lmao
This is basically what I did when I first turbocharged my DA9 Integra back in 2003 (when I was 20). I bought one of the very first SSAutochrome turbo manifolds with a downpipe ($250), a Dodge Daytona T3 turbo from a junkyard that had an entire school bus full of random turbos ($50), a DSM side mount intercooler ($50), a set of DSM 440cc injectors ($75), a DSM BOV ($25), and I went above and beyond for a Zdyne Gold SECU ($1500) because I didn't want to blow up my 120k mile B18A1. My buddy tuned it on his DynoJet and it made 258 whp on 12 psi and was pretty quick. I had alot of fun in that car until the YS1 cable trans shot out every gear but 5th. I drove it home almost 40 miles with it stuck in 5th. After that I parted it out and scrapped the shell. I really wish I had just kept it and replaced the trans. I still miss that car. I sold the B18A1 to a kid in North Carolina who was swapping it into his CRX.
Man reading your comment set it in stone for me that I won't sell my car if it blows one day.
Amazing job man! Obviously for someone who isn't a mechanic the $300 becomes $800 with the work and then add $200 for a turbo and some other money for the missing pieces. Even so having a turbo for $1300 or so is super cheap and definitely sounds amazing. Neat job!
I remember Turboing my D16Y8 like 12 years ago. Was the best thing I did went from a 15.5 on 50 shot of nitrous to 12 seconds flat on a T3/T4 turbo stock bottom end with AC and all the trimmings. Was the best thing I did. Now I own a B16A powered CRX and a B16B powered NA CrX both are fast or faster then with the turbo at that time.
Damn that looks really easy to do. Awesome video bro
German muscle Thanks and it wasn’t too hard. Just time consuming.
Thank ya sir I'm subd now! I just picked up a 90 civic hatch for $700 have plans to swap to a D16Y8 and go cheap turbo kit, I can't wait!
Get your fuel and timing parameters set along with the correct sparkplugs for the boost and fuel mapping, put a quiet exhaust on it, and paint the intercooler black and you'll have yourself a nice sleeper. 10 to 12 pounds of boost with a good tune should put a smile on your face. FlowMaster mufflers flow very well and sound virtually stock. Also try to get your airbox setup down low to hopefully duct in some cool air from right underneath the front bumper --- preferably a duct that will give the airbox some ram air affect. Late model Corvette front brake air cooling ducts are easy to find and are perfect for your application. 👍
I have yonaka cat back exhaust it sounds perfect when connected and VERY quiet but the downpipe issue has been resolved as of tonight sorta lol It was running open downpipe in this video. As for intake air box it will be hooked up once i get a slim fan because as of right now i can't even run a air duct to it because the automatic transmission lines/rad fan are in the way of literally everything. This isn't my first time with a turbo honda/ I have turbo'd quite a few but this one is my first with a/c lol
That was awesome thanks for the information, I understand how a turbo works much better now. Please make sure to post the standard transmission swap, really looking forward to that!
mrmundy78 oh I will!
Glad to see a boosted automatic I’m so close to doing mine 😂💀 I wanna see how long it’s gonna hold up tbh I’m excited to see where this goes tbh
Well i have been driving it daily since getting it done and its holding up great even without a tune! lol I know the transmission can hold up im just missing my manual lol
I’m building an auto civic too. I’m in jersey and driving a manual isn’t fun at all
legit one of the best videos on turbo installs.
Bruh are you using jack stands? My uncle never used them but one day a car fell on his head, luckily it didn't hurt him too bad but it only takes once man.
Fordman 1991 I use jack stands 100% I don’t always use 2 though lol
Fordman it’s really fuckin hard to use jack stands on an EK Civic because of the size of the Pinch welds
Eyoboyee Gaming through the floor
@@eyoboyeegaming1187 don’t put them on the pinch welds then dude. Look under your car and get back to me. You’ll see right away exactly where to put them.
@@selftruth9067 I meant the lift points.
I love the way that color looks on that civic its so clean
i have actually seen a video where someone changed out the rods and pistons from under a civic without pulling the motor lol
Richard E Yea it’s possible the only thing is I prefer to get the crankshaft micro polished and in order to do that you gotta pull the crankshaft out which involves removing engine or at least the transmission.
Texas Honda Channel I agree, personally I would never install rods pistons from bottom, but when I seen the crank from the bottom it reminded me of that video lol
@@xyzebruh1083 it's impossible to install rods and pistons from the bottom. Gotta remove the head to install pistons and rods, this practice is very popular on semi trucks where they do "in frames " which is in fact an in frame rebuild.
@@centraltexasfoxbodies why would you have to do that
@@snaxgalore5764 have you ever been inside of an engine? The pistons physically will not fit as a whole, it will in pieces though.
Love the sound of a good spool up, the BOV sounds amazing. Great job on the tutorial, very professional walk through. T25's are great for beginners to learn on and they are great for 300hp setups on honda's. The T30 is great too after notching the block then pairing it with a Vitara internal build with a Savage camshaft and 450cc DSM Bluetop injectors = smiles for miles.
Maaaaan...you make this look so easy...gonna have to get this done at some point in the next 12 months on my civic project goku.
MrMoz0887 Heck ya if you need pointers let me know
@@TexasHondaChannel thanks buddy. Need to engine swap first or might even just work with the 1.4 90 bhp d14 I have just to be different. Seen a couple of threads online about a boosted 1.4 with decent results. Keep up the good work man!
MrMoz0887 Yea keep the D14 they aren’t really heard of and good engine!
D14z2 in the UK seemed quite easy to get hold of...although it took me a while to find one near me in good condition. But it's a revvy little number...lacking top end...but that's where the turbo should help. Good video man and looking forward to whatever you have next.
That turbo sound was so satisfying
Man my 99 Civic blew a gasket, and it had had it done just about 10k ago, I think they shaved too much off the head, but I bought it in Feb, so yeah, I'm done my work, college, internship, and almost everything is on hold. I would try to sawp a new d16 in just to get back on the road, but no garage, not even someone's yard to use, living in the city man it sucks kinda. But live the vid man giving me hopes for the future man. Distant future
Lol. Im currently doing a "budget build" on my Z6 and im well over 3 k. And its still not done. 🥴
I want a civic as a first car since they are easy to work on and i want to turbo it eventually and this vid is great because it show's that you can keep A/C
Block Oil port is not 1/8 NPT by the way.. so putting 1/8 NPT in there is likely screwing up the threads/leaking or break off. Block is British Standard Pipe Thread (BSPT) not NTP.
Best way to do that is BSPT to 1/8NPT adapter, then an AN line to the Tee, not place the tee on the block.. Too much strain they will break off.
That is a very beautiful color on that ride J I have an 02 civic lx auto as well going to be working on it soon since one cannot get out this is a great time to do these kind of projects keep those videos coming. You have just pushed me enough to get started. THANKS.

Terrence Coughlan Thanks T appreciate it! I motive y’all and y’all motive me so ima keep at it! Check for the newer videos :D
Awesome bro! I don't know if you did this already, but throw up a link on your other channel to this video. You're putting out better content every time, more people should see it!
Hiram Acevedo I will for sure. I’m sure my haters will follow as well haha
You should paint that manifold with some high temp paint
sinformant I was thinking ceramic coating
This is the whole reason i got into Hondas BITD- you don't have to throw a ton of money at them to make them fun! some time, effort and patience make junk yard tuning go a long way. BTW- would the adapter set up you used for the oil feed work to feed an LS/Vtec set up as well? Thanks for the content!
flukeDC4 Yup!
flukeDC4 just got me a clean all stock original 97 civic LX with everything still working the electric locks and windows and ac

Obviously do whatever you want but I wouldn’t even change the bolts through the crash bumper, looks fkn solid like that
Idk if it’s just me but I think you forgot to put a exhaust manifold gasket. Good video. Great clear explanations good camera quality 👌
Ray Rivera Thanks I didn’t forget I just didn’t mention it lol. I got overwhelmed with all the stuff I was suppose to show I forgot steps. I tried my hardest to make it clear. There was a metal thing gasket on the manifold to adapter and adapter to turbo. 2 metal gaskets 1 metal gasket from head to manifold.
Texas Honda Channel I hear ya man life gets hectic haha. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Keep up the great work. 💪
The turbo sits so low with that adapter but i love it
you need the headlight bracket that goes under the head light
Cool little build man. Cant wait to see more progress
that ek dude For sure. I have more updates on it
Couldnt find a better explanation of how to turbo a civic, I had an idea but now tht i seen how u did it. Is not hard imma boost my civic here soon
Jr Sanchez Glad to help! It’s nice having cold a/c with a turbo.
@@TexasHondaChannel have another question... the small pipe tht comes out the wastegate n goes down(open) now.. can u route tht small pipe towards the back of the car or atttach it to the muffler piping ? Reason i ask is because it gets loud at the engine cuz of tht pipe and sounds like u have a leak or like open headers.
I didn't know your Civic was automatic.
My EX is automatic and I want to keep it automatic and turbo it.
Of course with Kevlar clutch packs on the transmission.
How does that work is it an aftermarket kit?
@@sheldonlamey7010 I think Raybestos has a kit.
Your ganna want to put the oil feed from a sandwich plate off the oil filter I’ve had a line clog and destroy a turbo before from hooking the oil directly from the block
Awesome vid but the blue thread locker is doing nothing on the manifold. Your manifold temp will be well beyond the “release temp” of thread lock.
Jonny 2 Fingers it’s been holding up well either way lol
Hey is there a way you'd be able to update the amazon links to the parts you bought? 3 out of 4 aren't working anymore, thanks in advance. :)
Hey man can you make a video on how to detail the engine bay? Your civic's engine bay looks very cool!

Nice! Feel like i understand a lot more if a Turbo setup is in the future
Thanks so much for the detailed guide, looks like something I could get done with help from some of my car buddies.
How well has this held up for you? I love the idea of building out my D17 but I also love how reliable my civic is, so I hope that doesn't become an issue with a build
that is impossible, has to be some sort of camera trick
you cant just turbo a car AND keep AC aswell
My questions are, what turbo is that from and do you know which one to buy?
And how does the downpipe adapt? What does that guys blow off valve cost normally?
Jason Valerio $30 for the blow off valve new, turbo is TD05H you can buy it on eBay it amazon, oil feel line kit is roughly $45. Downpipe is like $39 unless it comes with the turbo, intercooler kit $159 and log manifold $59 and adapter was like $30-$40
Video of you driving around was on Stock ECU??
So pretty much have friends give you a junkyard turbo kit? Gotcha 😂
Hey James! Glad to see you're still doing good buddy! first one I've watched in a while and noticed sometimes the audio cut out or got super low to where you weren't able to be heard well... might look into a microphone you can hook into you're camera somehow, and keep on a clip on your shirt or something or an auxiliary mic and stand. Other than that, as always good videos and good luck brother! Miss you back home!
Dusty Belote I have a mic and it’s hard to wear at all times. I was using the mic 90% of the time during this but when I couldn’t because the wire was getting caught on stuff I took it off and set it by the camera.
This build and your videos are incredible I've watched like 5 so far and I'm hooked.
ONLY question I can't find the answer to: Does your OBD1 pass emissions test in your state? I'm in NJ trying to do this build (with your guides ^_^), but I'm worried about the OBD1 passing.
Thanks!
Love budget builds using used, junkyard, or parts bartered for.Whats unique is that its a Y7 automatic which virtually no one does.Good video man, but be careful or you'll blow the welds on the intake while your diamond plated passenger floorboard falls out creating sparks and throwing green nuts and bolts everywhere...Monica !!!
Pops Lops Lmfao yea it was automatic at this time with a small turbo. The bigger turbo and manual swapped made this setup obsolete.
Pops Lops there is a performance rebuild kit for the automatic transmission in the civic, it's actually not too high price unless you send the transmission to them to build then your looking at 3 to 4 grand. Automatics are good with a turbo.
@@spankthemonkey3437 Do you recall who makes it?

A question about that FMIC kit; is the bov flange a greddy 2 bolt style? Did the pipings fit good and did you need to modify the piping's at all?
The intercooler kit was direct bolt on didn't require anything special and the blow off valve is a RS Greddy knock off but works pretty good

Amazing man! ! Thanks. ..your videos learning me many things about how all this thing are work in the reality :)
How long do you think the auto tranny will last and what psi of boost would be the limit for an auto turbo daily

all internal parts of the engine are original? No special rods,or pistons?Original camshaft?
how much hp do the engine ?Thank you, nice job!
No idea the horse power when it was auto like in this video ^. Im now at 30psi on forged rods and pistons with loads of aftermarket support. Feel free to check my newer videos.

Thanks for the video man, but how long did you run the turbo on the automatic trans and was it a difficult or expensive swap?
If it weren't for the sick paint job, you were better off selling it and getting a civic that came manual from factory.
The trans swap is the easiest part. It's the fact that you're going to have to deal with having to switch gear changer and everything underneath, setting up the slave cylinder, the clutch pedal, etc. Its a lot of work and time.
An unmolested 6th gen civic in decent condition wouldve been 1500-2000.
Look very professional bro. Love it

Hey g how's it going? Im not sure whats up with Rustoleum, but im enjoying your videos with the Honda. Though, you should seriously consider going back to Rustoleum paints, the results are much better and the color choices unlimited. Good luck though, and keep up the good work.
Willy Gonzalez Idk I have had good luck without rustoleum but they do have more choices.
Cold intake is the worst performance mod you could have done. You are sucking in hot air in to your motor therefore loosing power. If you were smart you would be a case around to to isolate the hot air from the motor.
Fr. Putting an after market air intake on a single cam d series does absolutely nothing that the stock one couldn’t do
It’s just because it sounds cool, cars can be slow but so much fun to rock with a manual and intake
Do u have to do any software tuning on it to adjust the fuel with air flow
I like Honda Accords... I bought one for my daughter and she got tboned and totaled car but walked away...if you bought everything, what would it have cost?
If its a newer honda accord . like 03 and up i would just swap the motor into a civic .
@@thehondalife2812 it was a 96... But we had to let tow company keep it... $500 plus tow home and fix car or 300 and thwy kept it.
