Thank you for the link for the bottles. I had been looking to do this and was getting over whelmed with how many types of bottles. I picked up the thinner and ball bearings already and just ordered the smaller bottles.
Glad this helped. I use a mix of both the big and the small bottles. I use the big bottles for bulk stuff like primers and main stay colors like white and black
I love mr. hobby / color. Great mixing video. I think though, that when I thin metallics I use the rapid thinner. It’s made specifically for metallics. It drys faster not allowing pigment to settle.
Just got that leveling thinner. Hoping to try it out with Tamiya liquid primer for my first painted build in a day or two. Solid video, concise and informative. 🤘🐙🤘
Important note about bottles: When purchasing bottles for paint you must use LDPE or HDPE rated plastic bottles. Otherwise the thinner in the paints could cause your bottles to melt. The links I've provided below will be the correct type of bottle to use. ** Items in this Video** Squeeze Bottles Small amzn.to/2KNvmLx Squeeze Bottles Large amzn.to/3mHv468 Ball Bearings amzn.to/3nJoygx
Hi, I'm new to not only building Gunpla models, but also painting them, and I'm too lazy to grab out my paints, and I'm trying to use the Gundam markers, so, do you have a video that goes over what to do with those?
It's damn near impossible to find paints(mrhobby/tamiya) locally. Where do you purchase a good variety online who actually have them in stock usually. Awesome production as well my guy.
Very useful and educational video , but i have to say that mr hobby lacquer metallics must be dilluted with mr rapid thinner and not with mr levelling thinner or mr color thinner according to mr hobbys instructions
I was thinking of getting some mr hobby clear green but I was wondering if the mr.clear green gx was any different (such as if it was a darker shade), I was also wondering if I need to thin it since I mainly do brush painting
i dont do much brush painting myself so i cant say for sure but my guess is if doing brush painting you probably would want to think to the consistency your looking for instead of to a ratio.
Will the paint: thinner mixture last indefinitely in those squeeze bottles? Seems like they'd be less airtight then the original paint bottles. Do they last in long term storage?
Great question man, yes it seals up really well and lasts long term. I’ve been using this method for almost a year without any issues with the paint. Of course after a bit of the paint sitting it will separate from the thinner but that’s what your back bearings are for. Quick shake and you’re ready to go.
Straightforward, simple and clear. I’ll be subscribing.
I know how to thinn paint and all but I still love to watch videos of things I know.
glad it was worth the time i hope
@@GunplaUniversity of course great tips for the beginners!

awesome tip, use the jar to measure the thinner is very convenient !! the 1:1.5 sounds reasonable ;)
glad you found it helpful!!, i always go for the easy way ;)

interesting, i hadnt tried the rapid thinner yet
I just switched to a bunch of Mr. Color paints after testing out the lacquer Gpaints. So this mixing guide was clutch lol I mixed up all my colors.
hell yea man there you go. and you can tweak that ratio too to your liking. i use mostly mr color paints also
Extremely useful information sir thank you.
My pleasure glad it was helpful

It works awesome with tamiya! 50/50 mix and your in buisness!
Thanks very usefull
glad it helped Rhowan
Thanks for this video, Best way to mix, and easy, now: do you mix paints, to make colors if so that would be interesting to watch. 😎👍🏼
my pleasure!!
Very helpful ☺️
Is this the same method for laquer, Acrylic and Enamel?

nice video, for gx 114 super smooth flat 1:1:5 or you prefer 1:1 to?
both will do the job, the difference is so small between them really

Thanks for the video. Is it safe to store the paint in those plastic bottles? Does the thinner not dry out when with the paint over time or anything?
Good stuff
Thanks 🙏🏾 glad you enjoyed!!!
What would you recommend for acrylic paint how much thinner?
Great video I am wondering though does this 1:1 or 1:1.5 ratio apply to Mr. Surfacer 1200 as well for priming?
yes indeed it does =)

appreciate the compliment. check out spraygunner.com. i buy a lot of my paint supplies from there
@@GunplaUniversity thank you 👌🏾
How long does the paint last in the sqeeze bottle once mixed? Is degradation of the paint over time something to be worried about?
this is an excellent question, ill have to see how my bottles are doing and answer this at some point
@@GunplaUniversity 6 months later. How are the paints holding up?
@@GunplaUniversityAny news?
Do you mix clears the same way? I’ve been wanting to check mixing ratio for Gaia flat clear
great question allan, Yes sir i mix my clears the same way. Gloss and matte
@@GunplaUniversity thanks for the response dude. Really enjoying the content.
