Thank you so much ☺️ I’m glad they’re helpful!!
Awesome video. I used someone’s idea and built a lazy Susan helmet stand with circular wood cut out that I could screw different lengths of pvc tubes. It makes it easier to turn for even coats when painting
I’m new at this and haven’t tried it yet but I love the information I’m learning on your tutorials...
Thank you for the tip about saving the clear spray paint nozzles! I have been having a terrible time with my cans clogging, even after I clear them, so trading them out with is GENIUS!
Happy to help!
This was great! Thank you so much for this very thorough video. I watch your videos all the time, but it was great to see the beginnings steps, in great detail. I’d love to see a follow up and the one a video like this. One where you show how to proceed from where you left off. ( I know you have so many detailed videos, but I think we would all enjoy another super thorough tutorial) you are awesome. You are so creative and have such a draw to you

Ive definitely gotten a 2 day headache from spray painting a looottt of stuff in one sitting without a mask 🥴
I know I never new you were supposed to sand it first. I'm totally new and would love to start making cups. That's the first time I've ever seen or heard of Sanding your cups before putting anything else on it.

Very informative👍🏻 xo Melissa
Glad it was helpful!
I never would have thought to spray upside down or save the nozzles. So smart!! Thank you!
Also...obsessed with that pink leopard monogram shirt! Where is that from? 😍
Thank you ☺️ Marleylilly.com
When you use acrylic paint on the tumbler do you paint it like it you would if you were painting on any others craft
After you spray the tumbler and dry. do you wipe it down with alcohol? Or go straight into epoxying?
Love all your tutorials. Love the glitter shelves..can I ask where did you get them.
Thanks! IKEA mosslanda 45” picture ledges
@@FlynnSistersBoutique aww thank you 😊
Great info! What kind of space heater do you recommend?
Whatever kind of cheap one you can find at Walmart is fine
Hi Jessica, can you do a doctor cup. I'd like some ideas.
Omg I tried spraying my 1st cup before I came across your video & it turned out HORRIBLE!! I plan to strip that one (if you have tips that would be super) but I have a couple others so I will try again. I’m brand new to this so I’m sure there’s a learning curve but I love watching how it’s done thank you so much for taking the time to do this for those of us so new we don’t even know how to paint a tumbler right lol 😂😬
I have a “how to strip tumblers” video on my channel that can help!
@@FlynnSistersBoutique oh awesome I’ll look for it thank you
@@FlynnSistersBoutique quick question, if you sand paint off a tumbler should you put a thin epoxy layer over it before starting your design? I don’t want to see tons of scratch marks, thank you!!
Do u have to spray with primer first before applying any other color?
I don’t sand my cups, I only wash them with dish soap then alcohol. I’ve never had a problem. However I did want to learn a good way to do so.
Currently going through the trash can removing the nozzles on my clear cans 😜
haha
Jessica, have you ever done a comparison between final sand and bar keepers friend to make a matte finish tumbler?
no but i could
That would be awesome. I would like to know if they are equal in the finish! As a canadian, final sand is harder to get and bar keepers friend is available at local hardware stores.
Awesome video. I do have one question though? Is there some kind of clear coat you can apply on the tumbler after painting to protect it? Also what do you do I'd you get some paint residue on the inside of the tumbler?
Hey there! This video explains how we would paint tumblers in prep for sealing with epoxy resin. I’m not sure what kind of spray you could use to seal paint permanently on the tumbler that would also be food safe like epoxy resin is. If you get paint inside the cup you’d clean it up with acetone and paper towels then wash with dish soap and water
Hi I'm new to this and loved your video with all the great tips , just wanted to know after you put all the colors you want do you have to spray a clear coat on it or a clear sealer?
No you don’t need to seal your colored spray paint
@@FlynnSistersBoutique thank you for getting back to me , I. So excited to try this . Thank you again .
youre fantastic
Thank you so much for the video! What was that spraypaint you used around the 16:22 mark? was that a clear top coat?
It’s a metallic gold
Thank you for this. I’m interested in doing this & find that your videos help. LOVE your use of the speed square to mark straight lines on tumblers! One question that I have is how do you keep the inside of the mug clean??
My turner arms keep paint out but if you need to clean the inside, you can use acetone and a magic eraser. Then wash with soap and water.
How you do them with a black cup
thank you for this I have a question do you clear coat street painting a solid color.
I'm sorry. I dont understand your question.
Can we get a tour of your craft room and where you got your shelves and storage items? Thank u
ua-cam.com/video/hQEgzcjs_f4/v-deo.html
This was so helpful….thank you so much … can you answer question… how long after finishing cup do you wait before it can be given away or sold?
72 hours for most epoxy resins
Thank you! These were the exact questions I had… especially using acrylic paint for prep… however I sanded and painted with acrylic paint before glittering and I was able to pull off all of the glitter 😫😫… I don’t know what happened.. this happened BEFORE I used brite tone. Any suggestions?
Sounds like your paint wasn’t able to create a solid bond with your tumbler. It was just regular acrylic and your tumbler was sanded to prep right? Maybe we try a self etching primer paint first before your acrylics
Thank you I have 1 question would you put vinyl now or epoxy them vinyl
I’d epoxy then vinyl to avoid pulling up any paint if I messed up
What sealer (if any) would you use on metal tumblers that were decorated with paint pens? I got 2 for Mothers Day from my gkids and don’t want the paint to come off when using or washing.
Epoxy
How do you keep the spay paint from getting on the inside rip of the cup?
i don't, i just clean it out w/ acetone in the end then wash it out really well
I recommend solvent cleaning before and after sanding, but whatever works 🤷🏽♂️
Cool
Thank you for the tip on saving the nozzles! I sprayed a cup with florescent spray and it cracked. Any idea why that may have happened? I am very new to tumblers.
Could have been the temp or the paint or the cup or there was some ketones that didn’t get fully shaken
@@FlynnSistersBoutique thank you 😊
Do you have a stand you attach to to let those dry?
Yes I do
The bon ami scrub- is this the same as using comet?
I would think so. Its a gritty cleaning agent so it's similar. Just be sure to since it off very well.
Is it better to sand and clean tumbler before doing the epoxy? Does it have a different look to the finish look?
Yes. You sand and clean to prep the surface for proper adhesion and the overall longevity of the tumbler.
This is very helpful for me, I'm a beginner. How do you get the paint and epoxy out of the inside of the cup if any gets in there?
Blade for epoxy. Acetone with a magic eraser for the paint. Then wash with soap and water.
@@FlynnSistersBoutique thank you!! 😊😊
What types or brands of masks do you suggest?
There is a link below my video for my Amazon list. The mask I use can be found there.
Woohoo first comment 😍😂❤️🙌🏼
🎉WooHoo!
Which do you prefer final sand or sand paper?
Sand paper for prep
Can anyone tell me if I need to do anything different for a black colored cup with texture??
I’d just sand it like usual to prep
Will this work with hand painting ? And what kind of paint is best to use for that ? And seal ?
You can hand paint with acrylic paint. Nothing oil based. You wouldn't have to seal paint before you epoxy over it.
How do you keep the paint from going into the cup?
Or how do you get it out?
if you get any in there you can just wipe it out with acetone and wash your cup out with dish soap and water afterwards
Do i have to base the tumbler with a spray paint if im going to use acrylic?
You dont have to
