Anita was fantastic here -- this has to be the best performance of "Yes We Can Can" I've seen them do. What a woman -- I hope she knew how very loved she was.
If you've never REALLY listened to the lyrics of this song..... So befitting in the times that we're living in. Thought-provoking and inspiring indeed.

GREAT GOSH ALMIGHTY!! Whew these ladies/ sisters are BAD!! Four pure, poised, extremely talented singers. These ladies are the REAL DEAL. Whew, the gentleman on the drums is KILLER. He’s in his own zone. Pure talent. Love their style. Clothes, 💄 makeup, hair, shoes 👠, accessories. EVERYTHING!! Simply phenomenal. I love them. They don’t make them like that anymore.🙌 🤩
Yes, The Pointer Sisters were The real deal. Can sing any genre from country, jazz, scat, rhythm, and Blues to Pop! @@phillycheez6288 My dad used to always comment on how they could stay on key even after scatting. They would scat all over the place and come right back to the key they started from. Incredible!

I remember the Pointer Sisters very well. I also grew up in Oakland and saw a lot of bands in the Bay Area in the late 60's and early 70's. One place I went to a lot was the Berkeley Community Theatre - I saw many, many great people and bands there. One band was the Elvin Bishop Group. They supported a lot for things like John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison and Ike and Tina Turner etc. One time I went to the loo between the shows and saw the Pointer Sisters after their set sitting in the lobby. I walked over and told them how much I liked them - this was probably about 1970 - they were so gracious and sweet and chatted to me for awhile. I will never forget them.
@David Holiday Hey homeboy, I was also born and raised in Oakland, California!! Attended Oakland Technical High School.."AKA" Tech!! I grew up listening and truly loving "The Pointer Sisters" No group of female singers like them..PeriodT
It's really a part of a lot of our lives in the 70s' Nobody had done what the Pointer Sisters did. Way before their 80's records, this was the group making history.
Well, I was born in Norway in 1980, so I will have to take your word for that, but I'm happy to do it, because that is one of the most plausible statements I've ever read on the internet.
I loved the Pointer Sisters from the time they emerged on the scene. Four Black women that exuded beauty, style and class. The best harmonies and their throwback to the roaring 20’s. They dared to be different and that’s what set them apart. Trendsetters, unique in every way. RIP Anita Pointer🌹
I'm glad to see it, wow! Always loved the Pointer Sisters & that drum solo -- well, never saw this video before; it's a double blessing! Didn't realize 2 of the Sisters had passed.
That man sure could play. He was truly a pro and loved puttin' on the show. But what I liked best was his kit. You can get enough out of a small kit if you know how to play. This guy sure 'nough did. I was lucky to know similar musicians like him.
Their 1st and 2nd albums for BLUE THUMB contain vocalese tracks that are in the same league as the greats of late 50s early 60s Lambert ,Hendricks and Ross ..and THE DOUBLE SIX OF PARIS
PS: Forgot to mention that I hadn't heard this song in many years and finally heard and understood the lyrics!!! That was the main reason I wrote. Beautiful song and message.
This was indeed a very powerful performance by all four of the Pointer Sisters. Their talent enabled them to engage their audience. Now from listening to this live performance of "Yes We Can Can," I can hear the song's message of both the realization of chaotic times as well as the hope that if people put aside their differences, they could get along. Rest in peace, Bonnie and June Pointer.

This song is almost 50 years old, and still we're not there. Fifty. Apparently I was 12 when this song came out and I thought we were getting there. Dammit. How many more lifetimes?
Amazing, anyone that has ever seen the Pointer Sisters live, know they are the truth. Happy to have seen them at their peak. That song, written by New Orleans genius Allen Toussaint, put them on the map. And as a side note, provided a catchy slogan for a certain president.
