High Output trucks with the Aisin and 4.10s are perfectly fine to be daily driven when not towing. I’ve done plenty of it and the Aisin is butter smooth. People’s problems are that they don’t allow the transmission to ever properly “learn” driving habits and to develop proper shift patterns. I’d happily stick with an Aisin over anything that’s currently available and I’ve owned them all in recent years.
Im 49, prior to Covid I flipped cars/trucks/Suvs. Probably owned close to 45 different vehicles. Today I could never do this due to these ridiculous prices. No way in hell 1/2 tons or even 3/4 or 1 tons are worth 90-100k. I had a 2020 Denali 2500 with the Duramax and paid $70k, MSRP was $78,400 and that was a stretch. This is why the majority of Americans have a debt crisis and cant retire.
Ram wins, 50 gallon tank, sensors, engine exhaust, and has the air suspension. Game over! And I agree with the other comment, $75 is stretching it, trucks at $80 plus is a joke. No way!
GM hands down in my book. Granted my last Ram was a '15 with the 3.42 gears, and I am comparing to my '18 Chevy.... But my Duramax pulls a hell of a lot more than I would have been able to in my Ram. Yes, the engine brake system is stronger in the Ram, but their brakes suck. I had way more butt puckering moments in my Ram than I have had in my Chevy. Ram and the solid axle I was always fighting the road crown which causes fatigue. You hit throttle in the Chevy towing and it says "let's go!" In the Ram it was like "Meh, maybe". Also my Ram needed to downshift a lot more towing up hills, and when it did you swore the transmission was left behind.
Chevy is fully loaded and the RAM isn't. But somehow the RAM is still more expensive. Not to mention that the Chevy looks much better inside and out. GM wins this battle.
The 6.7L Cummins is a better engine, the Aisin transmission shits on any currently available transmission, and Ram offers better gearing. Minus still being a 4th Gen (Ram goes by cab codes), the interior on Ram trucks is still really nice as well. Other than cab size and camera quality, GM isn’t *that* far ahead of anything.
@@CornFed_3how do the transmission gear ratios compare? It’s my understanding that the Allison makes up for the 3.42 rear end with lower transmission gearing.
@@pnwdweler4100, simply put, if towing a lot, lower gearing is superior. The 3.42s have been a limiting factor for a while now with GM trucks. It’s done mainly for fuel economy purposes. Ram used to use the same gear set but found it to limit overall towing capabilities and performance.
I like the coolant temp and DPF readout on the Ram, but honestly, I don't know what a boost pressure gauge does for the driver other than tell you the turbo is either working, or that it blew up, should that happen during driving. Maybe I just never paid attention under loaded or unloaded driving, but I have a boost pressure gauge in my F350 and it's basically just telling me what the turbo is doing, which is working. If something about it changed while driving, there's not much I can do about it because there's no inputs I can give it other than accelerator. I've never needed to see it like I do oil, trans, or engine temp.
Nothing pisses me off more than those tiny fuel tanks. I've yet to hear anyone say, "damn that was a long trip, I wish I had to stop more often for fuel."
One thing I don't like about the Ram's is it doesn't have a dead pedal (foot rest) for the driver. I wish they would put one on. For long trips it's substantially more comfortable than putting your left foot flat on the floor.
@@CornFed_3 or they could do like Ford, GMC, Chevy, and Toyota and put a dead pedal on there for increased comfort? Could they do that or is it beyond their technology to do so? They are the most expensive truck on the market so maybe they could? I don't know?
Hey brother I think I’d roll with the Chevy at this point. I have a 2019 RAM 6.4l 2500 Tradesman but purchased her before this madness of over priced trucks.
The ram is old. Still a nice truck but shouldn’t be charging as much when they keep putting more lipstick on the same pig. Simple as that. Sorry Ram fan bois.

I’m partial to the Chevy but don’t understand why GMC does not offer a larger fuel tank option.
And I think they need to go solid front axle and the 4:10 option. Both should be optional...as well as the 50 gallon tank
Does GM have enough room between the firewall and radiator to allow for an inline 6 cylinder engine ?

All new trucks can sit at the dealership and rust at those prices.
But Ram did a price reduction 😂
Excellent 🙏🏼
Having had both set ups ifs and solid front axle, I have to disagree. You can definitely feel the difference.

Not even close, but okay.
So a 15 year old cab with less options and a slow clunky shifting truck is still more than the superior GM? The GM is so far ahead it’s not even close

Bought a 2024 SRW 3500 Duramax chevy ltz and love it. It's a towing machine
No matter how far behind Ram is you are going to say they are the best. I don’t know why you don’t have one, you love them so much.

Ford doesn’t either.
Plenty of room in a Ram to rest your foot 🙄
