In my opinion all these high dollar trucks from the big three are now status symbols. If you want a true work horse, go for the Ram. To me, Ram is like an old tractor. Not the fastest, not the biggest, may not have the highest tow numbers but they keep on trucking slow, steady and predictable. And before you call me a "fan boy" I have owned all three manufacturers trucks, and have towed with them all. I currently owe three Rams with 550k miles on one the duallys I have.

Agreed. I rent a uhaul pickup truck and it's a ram 1500 classic. Love it and want to buy one for myself soon.
I want to agree, but 2 reasons why I won’t. The price has gone up along with the other 2, but with zero change. And second, the last few years have suffered valvetrain failures that cost the motor, on the Cummins. And it’s more apparent then you’d think.
@@CodySimoncelli-of7xx Zero issues on my 2 Rams 6.7L 21 and 22. They both are over 200K on each and used hard daily.
We have a 22 5500 wrecker body with 50k sitting at the dealer that’s thumping through the intake. Was told this is not uncommon from the service advisor

I agree, they are something to marvel at especially when you see them pulling 20k+ up steep grades and have quarter million miles on the clock 👍🏾
I think it would be more fair to compare Ram, limited edition to Denali, because Denali is top-of-the-line and a lot of options come standard on limited edition Ram
I have the GMC HD Ultimate 2500 and I love it so much, I've owned Dodge before and I definitely prefer GM over any other truck.
The Ford F450 high output powerstroke 6.7 is the best truck fir a dually. Extremely powerful, towing monster and like a legendary reliability
The GMC looks good, but Laramie actually competes with GMC SLT and Ford Lariat. Denali was the top GMC until the Ultimate came alomg this year.
The good news about the Ram is if you're really in need of a working truck(and not just another guy with a brodozer), you can easily get this exact truck in the $75-$80K range right now with Ram and dealer discounting. Some of us don't need the latest and greatest with the huge price tags attached.
I’ll take the GMC before any Ram. The FCA, or whatever they are today, dealers suck. Last Ram I had was worse after the dealer worked on it than before. My last two Silverados have been great, and the dealer knows what they are doing.
A dually without the availability of a 50 gallon fuel tank is ridiculous. The engineers really dropped the ball on that one. Hopefully they improved the exhaust brake also for $96000. Who would buy that thing? Actually I'm just kidding. That Denali is a beautiful truck and I would be proud to own it. Everyone is always dragging on Ram (which I own) and I just wanted to see how it felt to rip on another brand and call someone an idiot for buying that truck. It didn't feel that good to tell you the truth. They all have positives and negatives and we all buy what fits our needs. That's really the bottom line.

I own a 2023 GMC dually. I absolutely love it. I was going to upgrade to the 2024 but decided to wait for the 8.3 liter Duramax. I hope that GM produces this engine.

Lots of Chevrolet dealers and some of the GMC are discounting trucks in Texas.
Chevy dealers for sure but GMC HD’s out here are still pre sold with lower trims being available and discounted
The exhaust braking on the Duramax, is still inadequate compared to the competition.
Not at all I own both and honestly in the Rockies with 20k toyhauler my 23 GMC was much more consistent holding speed downhill with the exhaust brake and was less nerve racking then wondering when the ram would decide to kick in. Love those people who have never tried either one in a loaded downhill situation and say the Ram is "Far Superior" because its just not true.
Yes, but no. The exhaust brake is EXCELLENT in the GM trucks, especially the 24. The problem is with the grade shift and braking downshift maps. At 3K RPM that exhaust brake is the strongest of the big 3. The problem is, the mapping doesn't downshift anywhere near aggressive enough. If you take control and manually shift yourself it's amazing. The Ram and Ford Trucks are aggressive enough with their downshifts that it allows the exhaust brake to work more without intervention.
Any idea which brand is cheaper to insure? I would assume it's based on market value, but I'm not sure. Curious if anyone could explain how the gvwr factors into the insurance too.

I really like my truck it’s beautiful but I don’t love it like I did with my 2017 Ram 2500 night edition , still have it it’s a farm truck now . I’m in agriculture so I’m out on the fields all the time . I use this for work and my everyday ride . So I want toughness and luxury. Or do I stay with GMC lift it and add rims and wheels

How do you use the 2024 Ram 2500 Power Folding / Telescoping Mirrors?
I saw in consumer report magazine that Ram was rated 70 and Chevy only 56.
So is a ram more dependable?
I have a 2021 ram w/26k miles and had only a few minor issues only.
Still drive my 05 single cab 6 speed dually. Added the radio and swapped leather seats onto it. All I care about is can I haul ass while towing lol.
Independent front on GM's drive straighter and dont move as much when hitting potholes or waterholes.
Both of these trucks are great they'll both get the job done & both will look good doing it

Anyways, the Ram needs to be another $10,000 off before it would be even considered reasonably priced. And even that would be a stretch. It’s just too outdated. And I’m pretty sure that particular one was missing some options.
GM needs to add the gauge summary. That is true. A lot of people want that. I would like to see them offer a 3.73 gear option too.

I disagree, the Ram HD’s are outdated but they still compete well especially with the available options. I will say this truck should be decked out for $96k and it was missing about $4k of equipment which I would want.
GM needs to add the summary, diesel gauges, and emission summary because it’s nice to monitor these things in the display. I’m glad we can agree on the 3.73 rear especially for the dually, not so much the SRW unless someone wants to run taller tires 👍🏾

I don’t think they compete to well either honestly. If you had blinders on and just went by specifications and then driving performance you’d think the Rams were what they are, a 14 year old design lol.
Ram has always been the value brand until the last 3 years or so. Now they are just insane. Historically you could have got a nice equipped diesel Ram for the price of a lower trim Chevy or Ford gas job. It’s the complete opposite now lol.
Just admit bro. You got one thing going for the Cummins and that’s the exhaust brake lol. And that ain’t worth paying equal or more dollars to the competition.
Also, I think a 3.73 is the perfect gear ratio. I also would like to see GM offer the 4.10 for the gas trucks. Now I don’t think it is necessary and you’d never notice any improvements on the highway at Highway speeds, but a lot of people think they need it so why not offer it.

Gm put the mirror on the door but didn’t give you a full window. It still has the spot where they went. Lost a perfect opportunity to give a better view out of the window but didn’t want to re do production. 100k truck with mirror covers

Rams are nice but that cab can’t compete with what GM and ford bring to the table that rams cab is the same size as a 2004 f150.
I agree, when you sit in the backseat, you can tell just how small the cab is compared to GM.
I have had both trucks and the shortest I have owned trucks is a 2022 1500 Denali and a 2019 3500 Denali. Both were traded in in less than a year. The DEF system on GM is a joke, the truck looks awesome but the front chrome trim on both is not hardy enough. They just did not have a feel on longevity. Favorite truck was a 2012 3500 Ram Lamamie (Last year not requiring DEF) That truck was a workhorse, pulled hard and stood up really well. I regret selling it as it was chipped and was so great on fuel. I was able to sell it for what I paid with 230,000km on it so it seemed like a good move at the time. just about to buy another 3500 Ram but want to explore further to ensure design changes have not adversely affected longevity. Some of the comments have been really helpful to explore further. Thank you!
I used to own a 2013 Ram 3500 laramie and I loved it. Now I own a 2023 Ram 1500 SLT classic with the Warlock package. I love my truck but Ram needs to get their shit together when it comes to headlights, I cannot find LED head lights anywhere in Canada not even the dealership has headlights for my truck. that's frustrating considering I drive out of town to work on the most dangerous highway in Canada so LEDs are a must.

Not an apples to apples. Laramie is more of the SLT trim for GM. Not the denali. Denali is more in comparison to the dodge limited. I have shopped these trucks over and over.
I hate those Nexen tires! Ram needs to do better!!!! I’m having trouble with mine and the dealer said they were fine! They are junk in my opinion!

You are comparing a Denali to a Laramie...not apples to apples.
However, RAM does need to do something with the interior. Clearly they hit it out of the park with the refresh because it's still great after few updates for so many years.
And also, that 4th Gen cab has been around for far too long!
The Laramie and Denali definitely compare, you could throw an SLT in the mix but the Laramie is far superior and if you add a Limited Longhorn, the Denali Ultimate would compare to that and the Limited.
Please don't forget the antiquated 6 speed transmission as well these trucks are way behind technologically and then overpriced. They are discounted thousands because THEY ARE NOT SELLING! Love JB but I think this video is to help Jerry Seiner move some Rams.

I actually drove to the next city over yesterday for some texas roadhouse and they have a ram dealer across the street and sitting out front is a new ram 3500 Laramie night edition and its white. I really do love the look of the ram dually trucks, especially night edition.

Hey JB I’m super curious since I actually have a GMC Denali ultimate on order. When the trucks are brand brand new, do you think there’s any sort of power management going on?? I’ve test driven 3 or 4 2024 duramax trucks and I’ve never been like “wow”. I’ve honestly liked my 22 SO Cummins power delivery much better, not that the duramax is bad. I’m sure it’s amazing! But I’m truly thinking about canceling the GMC order and taking advantage of good Ram pricing right now. Super curious to hear your thought since you’ve owned them all
