      HorsePower Obsessed you had a video about replacing the map lights. Just wanted to see if they work properly. Somebody said it messed things up. Something to do with the LED bulbs and the low-voltage

    Already had a aftermarket exhaust when I bought my 2017 3 months ago. Not sure what but sounds good. I added a k&w black hawk cold air intake and the difference in tork, power, and a even deeper sound was awesome. Most recent I added a jet, stage 1 module for another 20-25 hp.definite must do upgrade. Next I plan on upgrading the plugs and coils. Thought I would pass on a few ideas.

  • @briancollier529
    @briancollier529 4 роки тому +1

    There are a lot of mods I have put on several of my Chevy/gmc tricks over the years. I do replace the exhaust with a cat back system. I prefer a dual chambered off road flowmaster exhaust with turn down pipes. Instead of the noise streaking out the rear of the vehicle, it erupts from all sides as it reverberates off the pavement. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

    Absolutely agree the low beams are anemic, may do the HID upgrade, thanks for the idea! I put on a Leer cap, but I can’t recommend it - the Jericho on my 1500 did a better job keeping the water out. Definitely getting some more tie down anchors in the bed for my needs.

    I installed a Magnaflow cat back exhaust on my '17 Colorado 6 cyl. I really like it. It is not too loud, but makes my truck sound more like an 8Cyl. It was at first a little droney at 1500 and especially 2500 rpm, but smoothed out with use. We have pretty much done the same mods to our trucks. I went with MotoMetal wheels. I like your truck and video! Look forward to seeing what you do next.

    Looks great. I just bought a 2022 Canyon. And first thing was also headlight upgrade. I also put a cold air intake in mine. I went with A Volant 15438 - Cold Air Intake Kit With Closed Box MaxFlow 5 Filter. It sounds great power boost is awesome. As for exhaust I am looking at a MBRP S5090304 - ARMOR PRO Cat-Back Stainless Exhaust System. This is one of the cheaper 304 stainless steel that sounds pretty good. Would love to see more Mods as I too have only just begun moding my truck.

    As always Justin you're dotting your i's and crossing your t's on your current and future mods. I have no suggestions, . . . . . .yet. lol Hey, we still have a lot winter month thinking I can do. lol FWIW, and this is definitely personal taste, I've always had caps on all my trucks in matching body color. My life-style necessitated having same, but I did like the looks and during the winter months the extra weight was a real plus, even for doing donuts. lol Now that I think about it, maybe I do have a suggestion. Can you move the front tow hooks forward just a bit more or are there tow hooks you can buy to accomplish same? How about tow hooks for the rear? Hey, what can I say, I like tow hooks. lol

    My Z71 came with free Black Bow ties and GM matts negotiated during purchase. Later I removed the air dam. Then did a DIY bedliner. Then a few weeks ago got the OEM ZR2 style skids (but for Z71s) and used (like new!) ZR2 rock sliders. Total for the skids and sliders was $650 after shipping. Not bad! Looks great!

    • @HorsePowerObsessed

    • @great0789
      @great0789 5 років тому +1

      HorsePower Obsessed $330 shipped for both skids. Shopped around online. Typed in “GM parts” in a search engine and pulled up 5 windows and then priced them out after shipping. Some had cheaper skids but expensive shipping. Most sites are just dealership websites. May be cheaper from the dealer (not likely).

    i generally stick with the black plastic intakes vice the metal ones due to heat soak that they bring to the air coming in.
    the general rule of thumb is every 10 degrees to can make the air entering the engine colder you will gain about a 1% power over all increase.

    I like the HID's. I went through two exhaust 1)aFe Power 49-44061-B Rebel Series 3" and it sounded semi good in the low RPm and absolutely ricey in the higher RPMs so I returned it. 2) I got flow master super 44I thin, and it sounded just as bad. When I got the K&N intake it was all the sound I needed. It really opens up and in the mid and low range you can really here the Engine "growl" and it doesn't sound like a civic. I plasti dipped everything chrome black on my 2015 Colorado Z71 and really improved the look. Tinted windows are the way to go also, really improves the look especially if you get rid of the chrome. I like the idea of a small lift, with a skid plate especially for the oil pan. My cousin has a 2 door jeep on 35's,and if I would have had mud terrains,I would have gone places I couldn't.I also got a swing out tailgate tool box I really like. If my friend had your Colorado, id tell him to tint the windows and get a intake, no exhaust and lets save for a little lift or possibly a leveling kit and some more aggressive off-road tires.

I just replaced the low and high beam headlights with Sylvania LED and forgot to take a before photo. My question is...When driving in daytime, do the amber signal lights light up , or only the low beam headlights? And...do the amber lights only light up when the dash sensor senses low light? These questions are with the light switch in AUTO mode...One further question...when brights are on , do low beams go out so only two lights are on at any given time?...sorry so wordy, but thanks for your help and videos.....

    • @HorsePowerObsessed

      Low beam is the "DRL" or day time running light with no amber lights. The amber lights come on when the headlights come on in full force which would be when full darkness is experienced (night time), the low beams stay on with the high beams adding light to it.

    Consider getting a Tonneau Cover, I got one from Undercover (painted to match from Undercover) and it completes the look of the truck, I had my windows tinted to 5% granted im no longer living in PA, im in Florida now so I know that isn't legal in PA , if you are considering getting LED tail-lights stay away from Anzo USA branded lights, I bought the Spyder LED/Fiber Optic tail-lights and they look amazing and bright as hell, I upgraded to the same floor mats you have from Chevy, im considering getting a Cold Air Intake kit too but I am leaning toward to the GM one only for the fact that with the other manufacturers you will have to remove and not re-install the engine cover whereas with the GM one the cover stays put and it looks factory, every car I have bought I always had the muffler removed and installed a Flowmaster in it's place, welded in place of the factory muffler and dumped out the back dual pipes, I never really trusted the clamp on/ bolt on kits only for the fact that over time they will start to sag and become uneven, I plan to upgrade the hood of my truck to either the ZR2 hood with the cowl or a ram air hood, also removing the lower air damn tomorrow, in the future im either getting a brush guard or going to replace the fog lights with Rigid Industries Fog Light kit that replaces the factory fogs and getting the 30" Rigid in the bumper.

I listened to countless aftermarket clips on UA-cam before deciding and I can honestly say that there was not 1 clip of a V-6 that sound good, sound like a rice burner. Also you might have to deal with droning. My Sierra with MagnaFlow doesn't drone too bad and once it reaches cruise speed it's little louder than stock which I like. Comment about the side steps. I just bought my 2015 Colorado base 2wd, used 74000 miles. First thing is the drivers seat. The drivers seat has split right on the seam. Because the trucks sit so high from factory, it is really hard to get in, even for a 6' tall person like myself. So the people that have owned it before me has really abused the seat from sliding in. Would have been nice and easier if Chevy would have put a handle on the drivers side post like on the passenger side to pull yourself up by.

      HorsePower Obsessed I'm very inexperienced with wiring and your set up seems a bit intimidating to me. • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  5 років тому +3

      @@Coleburgess09 Well... There's a few benefits but let me start by saying the route I went may LOOK intimidating but there was not actually any "wiring" I had to do. It is ALL plug and play. Meaning basically you disconnect one end of a pre-existing wire and plug in a new one. If you get the switchbacks from Diode Dynamics their resistor to prevent hyper flashing has to be WIRED in (they use quick clips, but it essentially cuts into the stock wiring) the resistors I used were built in to the Gen5DIY harness and literally just got plugged in between stock wiring (physical wire harnesses instead of splicing factory wiring). Plus with my Gen5DIY harness the switchbacks are on instead of the low beam headlight. I know that's a lot of text and it might be confusing so if you need more clarification just let me know and I'll do my best to help.

      I am very heavily considering the six inch lift from rough country. it would really be just start and I would build off of it later anyway. I want to get 18 inch rims with 285/65 tires and the rough country lift is the cheapest way to get me there right now.

    • @ConradzChannel
      @ConradzChannel 5 років тому +1

      HorsePower Obsessed Yes that is the only lift I have come across for the truck so far, I am hesitant to get one as well though because my truck is my only vehicle and I think it voids your warranty if you install a lift, is that correct?

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  5 років тому +1

      It voids anything attached to that specific part. for example if my engine where to go bad they can't deny my warranty because of a lift. With that said if something goes wrong with the suspension yeah there would be no warranty.

    Man while your mods are gimmickry they appeal to some. You drive a weak underpowered truck . Suggestion: Do what I have done to my 2016 Colorado Z-71 CC 2WD 3.6 I have installed a RiPP Supercharger and my truck now bangs out 410+
    rear wheel HP and 370 lbs. of torque. The power is instant and incredible and a total adrenaline rush every time. I have the BOSE Premium sound with a vehicle specific Kicker II 250 watt Sub mounted under rear seat. BOSE distributesall the highs and lows and sounds awesome. A dark Rosewood dash kit beautifies the interior. A cat back exhaust withstainless steel tips. 20" Ultra Predator II Chrome wheels with 33 " street tires . A Rough Country 6" suspension lift with the N3shocks and coil over struts give it an intimidating look. I removed the black Z-71 grille and replaced it with the LT chrome one.Good looks and wheel smoking power. That is something to talk about!
