great video, and having gone from a Tacoma to an F-150 I totally relate to pretty much everything you're saying here about the size of the interior and so forth. I also had a similar concern about the gas cap (or lack thereof) on my 2018 F-150, but as I understand it from the "experts" in the F-150 groups I'm part of on facebook, there are internal baffles that prevent siphoning out of the fill tube, so it might be the same on your truck. As I understand it people find it much easier just to drill a hole in the gas tank to steal gas out of the F-150, in which case I'd prefer they just siphoned it out!
Good to know about the possibility that it has some protections. Not sure if that is cost cutting or over engineering either way it is aggravating! Thanks for checking out the content!! I appreciate you.
I have a 2022 Z71. I get 19.2 mpg over the 11,000 mi on it. I haven't noticed any issues with slow speed shifting. I don't like having a gas fill door without a cap either. I care more about reliability and basics. I've been quite happy with mine so far.
I’ve driven trucks all my life. The Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon are two of the best trucks on the road. I’ve owned full sized Silverado and Sierra. The gas mileage on the Canyon and Colorado are 8-10 miles per gallon better than their full-sized counterparts.
Agreed about everything. My 2023 just had a recall for unwarranted automatic braking aka phantom braking. The truck freaks out occasionally even though the car in front of me is 30 yards away and we are going 30 mph. Sometimes at stoplights it decides to not drive at green. It just sits there for a few lights with a clearly running motor, then, unexplainably, releases the brake.
The gear shifting thing is pretty much the only thing I hate about my Colorado. Kills me when I’m in traffic, or in residential areas with a lot of stop signs. Pretty much roll through every stop sign because of it.
Interesting...I like my 2022 Colorado and find everything you hate about your truck does not bother me at all and by the way I am getting 22 - 24 mpg city and highway driving combined. I think the Colorado is a great midsize truck. I feel if you hate it as much as your video states, you should probably find something else to drive.
Hey thanks for commenting and checking out the video. I got the truck as a consolation because I did a msrp swap with Chevy corporate. I had a Chevy bolt ev that was a lemon as well as being recalled. I was going to get one of the new EUV models and they did a stop sale on them the day before I was to pick up my car. I chose the z71 because of the strong bones of the truck and the high resale values of these 4x4’s durning the pandemic. I do like the truck it just has a few areas that I did not realize were shortcomings. All in all a good platform. And I sold it for a profit. Onto the next vehicle
It would be hard to steal gas because there are baffles in the tank but if someone really did want to steal gas ,with a locked door, they would just bust the door open or go under the truck. I think the Colorado is a better looking truck than the other trucks in it's class.
You’re wrong about the GMC variant having hard plastic everywhere on the interior. I own one. The Canyon Elevation has a soft touch leatherette dash standard and leatherette with stitching accents on the door sills. The GMC is the more “upscale” version of the Chevy. Most of the features and amenities that are only available in the upper trim level of the Colorado are standard in the lower trim levels in the Canyon.
I have a 2022 Redline V6 3.6 crew cab 4x4 LT. I've already raised it 2" in front 1" in back. It came with factory step bars that look like your N fab steps. It has factory bed liner and tow package. I took off the tires like yours and put on Duratracs. I get 21 around town and the best I've got is 28.6 on the hiway with air dam removed. I've always drove Silverado, I traded my 2018 Z71 for this. The Colorado gets way better gas mileage. My 5.3 Silverado average was 14 around town and maybe 18 hiway. The Colorado has more leg room than Silverado. I'm 6'4 and I have plenty of room. The 3.6 is a little race motor! I get great mileage even putting your foot in it. Yes not a lot of inside storage but enough. Put on a bed cover and you'll have more. Hate to burst your bubble but the Silverado doesn't have much more inside storage and has a 5.7 long bed and Colorado is 5.4 long. So your arguments have no merit. Colorado is a great little truck!
In the state of California they have the most extreme regulations on vehicle emissions. That truck since it was bought in California won't get nearly the fuel mileage as Colorado's sold say in the Midwest. Your vehicle needs to breathe more, imagine if you were forced to breath from a small straw, it's the same principle on California's emission regulations. It's not just the Colorado it's every vehicle in that state from 2012 on.
I actually obtained it through a gm buyback for the oh so problem free Chevy bolt. I knew it would have a pandemic high resale value which is why I chose a 4x4 American truck. Just wish it was not so plastic and small inside
Doing some research on the vehicle you're interested in helps alot. Then go take a look at it and then see if it meets your needs. It's not rocket science.
Totally understand. My kids joined an xc mountain bike team and with 2 kids and all their gear in the back seat….the truck got really really small very quickly. Basically had to sit with their camelbacks on their laps
Nice video. I can understand some of the things. I had a 2018 crew Z71. First off, the headlights absolutely suck. Dim as can be. The cup holders? The door ones yes were a joke. I do not know why they couldn’t afford another 6-8” of room in the crew cab back. That would have changed everything. With that space, add charging ports and venting. Bed wise? I was fine with. My lifestyle did not require a 6’ bed. Overall I learned a lot. I learned I do NOT need 4wd. Absolutely pointless for my lifestyle. I am looking forward to more info on the redesigned ‘23 Colorado. I may get one. 2wd Lt. I’m cautiously optimistic about the 2.7. Ty for the vid!
Dude, you need to get a new life. If you hate it that much get rid of it. I get about 22 Highway 18 in the city. Chevy Colorado is a great truck to tow a travel trailer. The backseats got two cupholders in the middle of a fold down armrest apparently you don’t know that
My seat heaters come on with remote start in my 2019 Bison if the outside temp is below a certain degree(40?), just the lights don't light up, and you have to re-turn them on after you turn the key on. There is a setting in the infotainment center that allows the seat heater and rear defogger to come on with the remote start.
That’s awesome to know. I looked and looked and could not find anything. I think the fog lights not staying on is probably more of a pet peeve for me 🤷🏻♂️
Headlights are weak, need LEDs. Also, that little shelf/slot above the door bottle holders are useless, just make the bottle holder larger. I have a 19 Z-71, five foot bed, all options except nav. Paid 39K out the door new.
WOW...did we research this truck before purchase? If so, you'd know 90% of these dislikes...they look great and the Canyon is soft touch dash etc...hope it gives you good service. Time to upgrade to a Silverado for the space etc with growing kids etc... I can just imagine them sitting on their back packs and helmets in the element since they would not be using the hatch/bed for such items...LOL
I actually got the truck as part of a msrp swap. I had a Chevy bolt ev and was going to trade into a new euv however they did a stop sale the day I was supposed to pick up my new ev. Gas cap you cannot lock? My friend, sounds more like a reason to hate CA, not Chev Colorado’s. All ribbing aside, I am looking at purchasing a 2021 LT… (By the way, I live in WI, so it’s not like I have a lot to brag about…)
Actually I got a mid size truck and they lied about it being midsize. Definitely smaller than I could have anticipated with 2 teenagers and their snotty attitudes
2022 V6, Colorado Z71. I drive to work all off highway. On my 1st tank I drove highway miles and got just under 20 mpg. So? And my 8 speed doesnt change gears like that. At all.

I believe that more and more every day

Bud lite can fits in the holders perfectly 😎

My 2017 MPG averages at 24.9 and Max's out at 30 cruising on the highway.
No clue why mine was so crappy.
It’s gone now tho. Went back to a Honda element awd stick shift

Just bought a used 2016 LT. 26 plus mpg average. City, 2 lane, and interstate combined on my first road trip.

Agreed im getting 23 mpg average ive got 1500 Niles on mine
20 mph average on mine
To small, I test drove one and had to go with the Silverado RST. I felt like I was in a car.
The RST Silverado is the only acceptable alternative to this. or the ZR2 Colorado is fine too
I average 21,22 mpg. I have 100000 miles on mine love it. And I get almost 30 mpg on road trip running 70 mpg
Any time someone says they like the sound of a vehicle, their fuel economy will suck. It sucks because they punch it too often.
Darn most new vehicle's are going to no gas caps lighted brother it's a nice looking truck man
Complain, complain. There’s no perfect truck in any brand or price…
He needs a mommy mini van.or a full size truck.
@@purplerain55 I can fit way more in my Honda elements or my sequoia or my 7.3 long bed !!

It's a small truck. You want more room get a full size pickup. Toyota Tacoma is worst on gas and space.
the big change with Chevy Colorados is you'll get your truck delivered SOMETIME!
Fyi, you can't fit most 29ers in a 6' bed
Something not right with your gas mileage. I average 21-22mpg with 75% highway miles.

Ok about the gas cap. have you tried sticking a syphon hose in your tank? you would be surprised how many tanks have a screen on them.

buy a lockable gas cap
I don’t believe that you can install a cap. There are no threads on the inside of the filler neck

My 2015 Colorado Z71 V6 2 wheel drive averages 22.6 MPG, 26 on the highway.
your heated seats comes on with auto start when the temp is cold enough
You can set your seat heaters to come on with remote start under vehicle settings. I turn them on every winter and off in the spring.

Keep up the good work bro! I agree, that interior is pretty chintzy!
Thanks for checking out the video my friend!!
