Evenstar not Evanstar. Like the word "Even". Eg Evening. Not Evaning. Or New years Eve or All Hallows eve (Halloween)
This is why the ancestral home of House Tarth is called Evenfall Hall.
You are correct, thank you for clarifying my mispronunciation of the word
I didn't know ANY of this about Tarth. That's really cool to learn, and I thank you for putting this together.
One thing I have always been confused about: Tarth is the name of of the Island, and Brienne is always called Brienne *of* Tarth (as in, that is where she is from) but her father is named as Selwyn Tarth and her deceased siblings carry Tarth as their surname as well. So is Brienne from House Tarth or House Evenstar? Given that your map shows the family home listed as "Evenfall Hall" and many of the nobles' homes in Westeros contain the House surname (Casterly Rock was named for its first lords, the Casterlys; Harrenhal was Lord Harren's home--literally Harren Hall; Crakehall; Clegane Keep; etc) it makes me wonder.
Ofc, there are plenty of keeps and castles throughout Westeros that have no realtion to the House's surname and are more about their literal location; Riverrun, Winterfell, Dragonstone, Summerhall, and the Eyrie just to start.
But is there any source which definitively tells us Brienn'e House name? And if it *is* "Tarth," then why isn't she addressed that way? Why is she "Lady Brienne" instead of "Lady Tarth" (as Catelyn was "Lady Stark" instead of "Lady Catelyn?"
Any thoughts?
I know this comment is two years old, but I just want to say that I think Brienne is called that because "Brienne of Tarth" rolls off the tongue better than "Brienne Tarth"

Haha I think you are thinking about Starfall, home of the daynes? And thanks! I don't think I'll be able to this week unfortunately, just too crazy busy but I'll try to see what I can do, maybe thursday if I can work some miracle. Next week should be way more productive.
I had seen on the book a faces a screenshot from twitter (i don't use twitter) that GRRM had posted that he'll write no more Dunk & Egg until ASOIAF is finished. Do you know if it's true? Just thought you might have come across it during your research. The reason I ask is i saw it on April fools but it wasnt dated April 1st 🤔🤔🤔
Oh really? I didn't know that!! I hope he just postpones until he finishes Winds of Winter... waiting for the last book to come out would feel like... forever.
@@CharlieInWesteros i tried to find if it was an April fools but I literally can't find anything on it at all, so hopefully it was fake 🤷♂️
