    good video, just wondering why you didnt put the dpm under the concrete and then you wouldnt have compromised it with the screw holes?

    Did you wrap around the DPM?

    DPM same as pond liner?

    Great video. I'm about to start my build now I've finished my base. Any issue with not having airflow under the floor?

    • @thediyfix
      @thediyfix  2 місяці тому +1

      I dont think so the floor is protected with the DPM from any rising moisture

      @@thediyfix thanks for the reply. Due to the nature of being land locked with very limited access I've opted for a compacted gravel base. So perhaps I need a few bearers to allow airflow.

    Great video. Hopeful to start mine this summer. What was depth of MOT layer and then the concrete slab? Sorry if I missed this in the video!

      MOT was a tonne bag . Good luck with your build, you’ll smash it mate. I started towards the end of May and weather was perfect

      In theory you could pack the floor up to level it out. How far out of level is it?

    • @thediyfix
      @thediyfix  6 місяців тому

      The boards are like Egger protect, just a comparable brand from my local builders merchants

    I’m just about to start a build which is 12 x 10 and they recommend 2 x 4 timber for the frame. I noticed yours is 3 x 1. Is it solid enough? It’s looking good 👍

    • @thediyfix
      @thediyfix  Рік тому +1

      The only reason I am using 3x2 for the floor is that its sat directly on top of the base. Its really going to depend on the type of base you are using.
      For the walls I am using 4x2 and 5x2 for the roof joists. This leaves my finished hight at around 2495mm which is just within permiteed development.
      I hope this helps, you can see a quick preview of the walls and roof here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsZZ_XUk1wpTM

      @@thediyfix I can't help but think that we over enginner these buildings.
      If you look at any online shed for sale, it will have 1 1/2" square or 1 1/2 x 2" frames at maybe 1 m centers.
      My current one is 1 to 1 1/2" frame and has been up for 20+ years, though I'm now building a new one with a 3x2" frame.

    great video mate very easy to follow, how important is screwing the timber based into the concrete slab, i have seen some skip this and others use impact drivers and go to work, does it matter if this is skipped, is it going to fall off like? cheerses
