In 1984 the drummer Rick Allen was in a car accident on New Years Eve, the seat belt severed his left arm off. These 4 others guy never thought about replacing him, true Brotherhood. Rick was determined to still be the drummer. He made his own drum set, with using his left legs and some electronic sounds. He was titled Thunder God and you can see why. The beat in this song is AMAZING.

I love that these guys are still touring! Kick ass rockers with loyalty & brotherhood like no other. When Rick lost his arm, they refused to think of replacing him. They waited for him to heal & relearn how to play & the band got bigger than ever before. It was about loyalty & friendship, not money. Love these guys.

They are indeed a British band, formed in the late 70’s in Sheffield. This song and some of their other songs are considered to be “arena rock” or “arena hard rock”, because the whole audience sings along with the chorus. I’ve seen them in concert and they are great live!! They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Brian May of all people. The drummer, Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident after they were an established group. While sitting in the hospital, he got ideas for ways to play and the band was all for it. So, he plays an electric drum kit and uses his feet a lot. It’s an amazing story and the band was all for it.

My husband and I went to a Def Leppard concert in 2018 and they were so so good. Their music was the soundtrack to highschool for me and I was a bit worried they wouldn't be as amazing live after 30 years together but it was everything I wanted and needed it to be. They're amazing and just genuinely good guys.
Sidenote, the drummer had 2 arms when they produced their first album but lost it in a car accident. It's so inspirational to me that, not only did his band stick with him and wait for him to recover, they waited for him to learn the play the drums all over again. Such classy dudes ❤️

Rick Allen, the drummer, lost his arm in a horrific car accident when he was 21. He had been with Def Leppard since he was 15. They DEFINITELY weren't gonna abandon him, even though so many people were telling them to get a new drummer. They stayed with him and waited for him to heal and re-teach himself how to play. He has a special kit in which his left pedal can emulate what his left arm could do. He still suffers PTSD from the accident to this day, and says drumming and painting is meditational healing for him. He's opened charities for wounded veterans and people who have had amputations.

This time we do learn together, I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how good they are. I’ve heard this song many times, who knew, I’ve been listening to their music and didn’t know it. Very unusual for me! The Drummer is brilliant, one arm and not missing a beat. They sound a bit Bon Jovi like. Either way I will definitely be looking further into their music. Thanks Hap.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🕺🏻💃🎸☘️

Yes, the drummer was in a auto accident. Arm amputation. He still rocks it. Incredible. They are British!! Always Great music from the British.
Maybe the tune you're thinking of "I love rock n roll" by Joan Jett. " I love rock n roll, put another dime in the jukebox baby...lyrics.

Forgot to mention, when I saw them live....they did this song last. At some point during the chorus towards the end, Joe Elliot gets a bucket of something sugary poured on him. Sugar water or honey, I don’t recall. No one in the crowd was expecting that!! 😂😂.

One of my all time favorite 80's rock band and song. Now let's see if you notice that the drummer only has one arm! ... Awesome, you did. Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident. after they finished their last album, so there are videos where he does have both arms. But from the album "Hysteria" on, they are the only band with a one arm drummer!

I had a best of Def cd and lent it to a work colleague. Very soon his son, then 6,fell in love with this song.
Tragically the son was killed a few years later in an accident, just 10 years old ,and they played this song as part of his funeral service.

Cool Reaction. This song was all metaphorical because music was easily censored back in the '80s. We were at this concert. Denver, Colorado. McNichols Arena August 1988. A loud and sold out arena.

Love Def Leppard - Had a big crush on Joe Elliott. Btw, Joe sang Tie Your Mother Down with Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert 1992. Check that out some time! This song was written for stripper bars so the rockin’ ladies had banger music to do dance moves to!! Brian May did the honors of inducting Def Leppard into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They’re great!! ROCK OF AGES & ANIMAL are great songs! Brian & Def Leppard sang 20th Century Boy by T.Rex …. Fantastic!! That’s another group you should react to.

Wondered if you would finally catch it and not your eyes playing tricks on you. Yes the drummer has one arm, sadly from a tragic car accident. I respect this band and Rick so much for never quitting after the accident. He has been such an inspiration for many musicians. mass respect for him. They came back stronger than ever and have some great music well worth checking out. You will love them. Thanks Hap.

All their music it the bomb! They go back to the late 70s-80s and still going strong to this day. One of my favorites saw them 2xs in concert 😎 Rick not only can drum on handed but is an accomplished artist as well. Watch the induction of Def Leppard into the rock and roll hall of fame you can get a quick rundown of the bands ups and downs and how they persevered through it all.

I love your reactions you always notice the little details, you were right about the sound you were vaguely picking up Rock of ages another great Def Leppard song. I've seen several others react to them and they don't even notice Rick Allen only has one arm but you did. Seen them live many times always a great show, normally they do their theater in the round so they have front rows all around them and they really work the crowd. Queen was a large influence on them and they are all close friends. Brian May inducted them into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Steve Clark was the guitarist and he passed away in January 1991, Joe Elliott said the first condolences was a phone call from Brian May. Then in November of that year Freddie Mercury passed away and Brian's first phone call was from Joe Elliott 😢

1988 was a good music year! This was a great show performed ‘in the round’. Great time. I’m sure someone has mentioned that Rick Allen came up with the idea of playing the drums mostly with his feet while he was recovering from his accident. The designers at Ludwig helped him come up with his kit.
Another fine rock song from around the same time was Ragdoll by Aerosmith. And Tall Cool One by Robert Plant.

So cool! It's awesome to have plenty of variety in music! Queen was one of Def Leppard's biggest influences and Brian May is still a close friend of theirs (particularly with Joe Elliot). Brian even inducted them into the Rock and roll hall of fame in 2019. Here is the link to his awesome speech. ua-cam.com/video/7Jcs0a_F0NU/v-deo.html You have great taste! Please check out more artists and groups if you want! This album Hysteria was not doing good in America, it went to number 1 in the UK.
Strippers in FL started playing this song and the album exploded. 7 hits and I think one of the best albums ever made. It helped they had Mutt Lang producing it, he also did their Pyromania album. Mutt is also the producer for AC/DC Back in Black, which is stilling their Best album and really put them mainstream. 2 Rock Groups that changed everything in the 80’s. The first to do round stage
