What a lot of people don't know that when the album was released it was the most expensive album ever made. It cost 4.5 million to make it took 3 yrs to make and had to sell 5 million just to break even and still remains the third most expensive album ever made
The thing you need to know about them is that they are a band of beautiful human beings. When their drummer lost his arm these guys did not go out and find another drummer. They supported him and worked with him until he was able to figure out how to continue playing( he does it with his feet now). It was more important for them to support him than it was about the money. What a great group of guys!!!! Love them😊

Exactly what I was gonna say, but it wasn't just support. The rest of the band convinced Rick Allen to continue drumming, and they waited for months for him to adjust.

Seen them in concert in the 80's! It was badass! The drummer lost his arm in a car accident and they waited for him to heal and relearn how to play! He uses his foot! 💚💙💜

Love me some DEF LEPPARD!! I have seen them live and they are amazing! Also, pay massive kudos to drummer Rick Allen, who LOST HIS ARM in a car crash back in 1984. The band fully supported him when he did NOT want to step down as their drummer. Years later he still plays with the band, and he has a custom drum kit that allows him to use both his feet to help him be just as good as he was when he had two arms. This band is all about great rockin' music, love, and loyalty.

It always reminds me of when I went to the Monsters Of Rock tour at the LA Coliseum in ‘88 and this was one of the songs, at the hight of its popularity, that they played on the sound system between the live band performances….90,000 people and you could hear people singing it all over the stadium!

Love Def Leppard! I grew up on them! I actually had the great fortune to meet the drummer, Rick Allen! It was in Schipol Airport in Amsterdam. He is such a super nice guy and family man! It was so cool just to shoot the breeze with him!

Def Leppard is my sister's fav band. I got 2 front row seats to see them in 2018. It was the BEST concert I've ever seen and I've been to over 50 concerts!! They were phenominal. Blew the roof off

The drummer .. Ric Allen...has ONE ARM as the result of a automobile accident...and learned to play with his foot ...on a modified drumset
yup, he's got about 3 or 4 of them, and at least one of them is already pre-assembled and all they do is cover it with a crate.

This album was my introduction to the band, either pour some sugar on me or love bites were the first song I heard from them in the late 80’s. This album and the adrenalize album released after this one are both amazing. Cover to cover on both of them there isn’t one bad song.
Highly suggest you check out both of these albums in their entirety. You won’t be disappointed with any of the songs.
Probably my favorite song by them is too late for love and that was on either high and dry or on through the night. I cannot remember which one. I’m sure someone will correct me here lol.
Also, you asked about any member of the band who aren’t with us anymore, Steve Clark was the lead guitarist in the video you watched. Vivian Campbell took his spot for the adrenalize album. He died in the late 80’s

One of the original guitar player Steve Clarke passed away in 1991 from of fighting alcoholism then Vivian Campbell took over from steve RIP Steve .Steve was with the band from the start until 1991

Drummer Rick Allen was in a car accident when they was on a break and lost one of his arms And told them to get another drummer and they refused to do it and helped him make a device that he can play with his feet and it will hit the drums that he would hit with the missing arm

same album (Hysteria); The song WOMEN (is my fav) talks about how God created man as a gift to the world - and then created women as a gift to man. Great lyrics - banging song. I know you'll love it.
This album was a major sound change for them - it was perfect for the 80s with a bit more pop sound. Their earlier albums (specifically Pyromania and High & Dry) have some heavier rock songs more traditional sounded hard bass and guitars. I prefer those two albums to Hysteria for these reasons - but there were a number of great songs on Hysteria - and is in the top 25 greatest selling albums of all time.

I was 16 and a junior in high school when this song came out ruined alot of cassettes trying to record this off of FM radio, trying to time my pressing the "record" button perfectly to miss the dj's intro! Oh, those were the days!

After the car crash took his arm, Rick Allen came back to the studio where the band had been recording. Nobody ever talked about replacing him or what they were going to do. They were just happy he was back and he'd just go into a room by himself....and spent his days figuring out how he could drum with one arm - setting up to drum with his feet, and practicing day after day. The band admits now, they were just happy he was doing something, but in the back of their minds of course he could never do what he once did. One day he called them into the room and proceeded to play one of their hits in their entirety on his new setup using his feet. By the end all of them were in tears.
