I started driving in this era - you had 205 GTIs, Renault 5 GT turbos, Ford RS turbos etc…it was raw, 5 speed manual gearboxes, massive torque steer, lift-off oversteer etc…the hatches back then were trying to kill your with only 130 bhp…with 300+ bhp that thing must be an event every time it’s driven! 👍🏻
Some like myself prefer these type of builds over 800+hp flappy panel 1.9 0-60 8 second quarter vehicles. And to those I say cheers mates

Love all the old school RS turbos. I had the RS1800 fiesta. And miss that car alot always wanted to turbo it. But too young at the time. And moved back to New Zealand. And had to sell it. Then went to Skylines and Sylvias. Cause that's what we had. But still the mk3 fiesta still has that place. They way they drive, there awesome.

Not trying to be clever but he said he was going for an rs 6 speed box...
The st170 came with a getrag 6spd, the rs came with a beefed mt75 version 5 speed,
i dont want this guy to be seen off buying the 6 speed that are cheaper to only pay rs prices. the 6 speed box is good but 1st gear would be no use in this - stick with the mt75.

I bought one of these brand new on a J plate in 1991. Even in standard form it was fun to drive. In certain weather conditions the wastegate actuator would stick, and the thing would boost crazy for a few seconds until the engine management went into limp home mode needing a restart. Fun days before marriage and kids. Sold it for a Pug 407 1.8 with my 1st child. Driving has never been the same again 😢
