About Love and London:
I'm Jess, I've lived in London for many years, and this channel is a London travel guide for anyone visiting the city that wants to experience it like you live here. Beyond talking about the usual London attractions, myself and my team show you some of the cooler things to do in London, that most travel guides don't mention. Watch our videos and you'll feel like you've got a Londoner friend telling you the best kept secrets in the city.
What a fun time collaborating with you! London and New York are both amazing cities, the kings of their respective continents :)
I loved this!! I am introduced to a new travel/city knowledge channel! Jon I hope you are able to do more videos like this!!
Did you come over to London? I want to come NY
I love that you know Jess! I follow the both of you😊
wow Jon! great content.nice collaboration.more of this,pls.
So happy to have ya!! ❤️❤️
Fun fact, you can travel from the center of Manhattan to the center of London without going outside? Here's how.
1. Take the E, J, or Z train to Sutpin Blvd/Archer Avenue
2. Go up two levels and take the AirTrain to JFK Terminal 4
3. Take Virgin Atlantic to London Heathrow
4. At London Heathrow, transfer to the London Underground
5. Take the London Underground to the center of London
You have arrived in London without stepping a single foot outside. While it may not feel like being in the same city, I believe it adds a certain kind of connection between New York and London you may not get with other cities
I much prefer London. In regards to food. In the US food is full of chemicals that are outright banned here in Europe. So I'd put London ahead on food. Cool video. ✌️
Thanks for watching !
London's biggest attractions are free - British Museum, Natural History Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern, V&A, Science Museum, Sky Garden etc. This includes the world's two largest arts and antiquities museums, largest natural history collection, largest modern art gallery.
Mister skyscrapercity? ;)
@@napowen oh hello!
It depends more on the exchange rate than anything else. Currently, the USD is relatively strong, so that make everything in London cheaper.
Most important factor is where does your journey starts from... I'm from Canada it's incredibly cheaper to go to New York but it's so much more exciting to go to London!
Yup ! Thanks for watching
I have been to both and I love love love London! It feels cleaner and less congested. Also, as others have mentioned, the big attractions are free! Oh and the Tube is quieter, easier to navigate, and feels much safer then the New York City subway.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
London restaurants are way cheaper than New York restaurants. Point should have gone to London on this one! There are bagels and pizza by the slice in London too! And if you want iconic cheap eats that real Londoners eat go get a meal deal at M&S and get a coronation chicken sandwich for £3.50 or go to Greg’s for a £1 sausage roll. And we also have a Chinatown where you can get cheap buns from a Chinese bakery. You let him have that one! Haha
😎😎the cheap eats in NYC are hard to beat tho
Hey! Londoner here and I have to say that I love both cities. I've been to NYC several times that I feel like it's become a second home to me. This collab just made my day. Thanks for this.
Aw thanks for watching!!!
For museums, better to compare London and Washington, DC. Both are national capitals, and the Smithsonian museums are free as are the big museums in London.
The video is about NYC and London tho ;) thanks for watching !
aaaaaa the collaboration i didn't know i needed 😍 two of my favorite creators from two of my favorite cities 😍
Haha aw thanks so much for taking the time to watch.
Just came back from London yesterday and Jess was a big part of our travelling plans. Have to say also that John was my main source for NYC last year. So a huge thank you for both of you for two years of great vacations! Your respective work is greatly appreciated! ❤
Awesome. thanks for watching!!
Thanks for this Jess and John. Londoner that hasn't been to New York yet so found this really useful.
I’m going to London in June to see my Phillies play the Mets. Thank you for the awesome videos.
This is an incredible comparison video! Thank you, as a Londoner who loves New York equally it’s essential ❤ New York is more expensive as a tourist for sure, living in London makes things a little easier on the pocket though.
Thanks for watching !!
Loved this collab. Lots of great information!
Thanks for watching !
This collab was 🔥🔥🔥 I love both cities!
Thanks so much for watching!
NYC subway might technically be "cheaper" but the London Underground encourages shorter trips which I think makes for a more efficient, better system. That's just my opinion tho.
Also, it's not really that confusing once you get into it. NYC subway system is a lot more complicated in my opinion.
Love both of your channels and both cities!
Thanks so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Super cool comparison! Such fun hanging out with ya!
Thanks for joining us !! ❤️❤️❤️
No way! This is the most unexpected and coolest cross over ever! 😍
Ahhh thanks so much for watching!!
If you’re not from UK or US currency conversion is another thing to consider in the equation. Canadian dollar slightly stronger against US dollar than GB pound which might offset some costs
I’ve just spent 4 weeks in England and as a Australian, the conversion was a killer for us.
Yes, must consider anytime going abroad !
Quality video Jon. City of my birth v one of my favourite cities and one I visit a lot. Just love the variety of content. Such well balanced views to. Nice Collab.
Thanks for watching !
I already follow both of you and this was a very good, fun combo!
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Legit the 2 main vlogs I used to plan my trip to NY last summer and our trip to London this summer. I love both of you and your "go to the locals spots" recommendations. Thanks so much!
Nice !! Thanks for watching !!
Extremely good vlog and spot on (I live in London). Have watched several previous vlogs and all great. Haven't been back to NYC since 2009 - must go back soon. Now subscribed. Many thanks!
Thanks for watching !! ❤️❤️
Love this video! Jon and Jess are two of my favorite content creators and to see the collaboration was a blast. I started following Jon several years ago on my first trip to NYC and found Jess' channel this spring prior to our first trip to London four weeks ago. Very informative and accurate. Great job!
Awesome!! Thanks so much for watching :)
Two of my most favorite cities! Just got back from Europe and spent 4 days in London.
We try to go to NY once a year! Love them both! Great video!
Awesome. Thanks for watching!
I always found cheap eats cheaper in London, and sit downs cheaper (and better) too. Portions though smaller, and there's no such thing as arefillable
❤️❤️
unless you go for a cheeky Nando's (peri-peri chicken casual restaurant) I think they still offer free soft drink refills
Jess, I visited London last April for nine days because of your and Joolz videos. This video help me figure out my trip to NY.
Thanks.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Wow beautiful video I love watching him as well. U guys come good with this video
Thanks for watching!
Big effort!!🎉🎉
Haha indeed! Thanks for watching ❤️
Great discussion guys! Both cities are great and expensive.
Thanks for watching!!
Awesome video you two!! Thank you for this video! I was in London in May and Jess, you helped me know so much before the trip! And I'm going to NYC in August - will check out your channel, John! :) I'd love to know which wins for vegan restaurants!
amazing! thanks for watching Jill!
Omg! I love Chinatown NYC and the food. Love dim sum in Chinatown
Great video! 👍
Thanks for watching !!
Fun collab!
Thanks for watching ! ❤️❤️
I love both cities so much Dear Jess i went to both cities but it depends on where you live.🥰😍🤗
I’ve only been to NYC once, in 2007. I still remember going to this rice pudding shop in Chinatown. It was so good. Plus, I got a knockoff Coach purse from a shop that had another storefront as a coverup.
What would an American tourist do without lovely Jess 🤷🏾♀️❤️
No idea honestly
Went to NYC for my 30th and 40th and I’m 50 this year but the prices for hotels are insane for what you get so having to come up with a plan B.
Awesome comparison. One thing you could have included is the cost comparison for 3 or 4- day city pass which city wins on that account. Also a comparison of street foods. Thoroughly enjoyed the video.
We're both not big on those touristy passes and they're not our vibe so we just did the quick mention 😎thanks for watching!
Tipping makes all the difference in NY vs London, it increases the price of most eating/drinking out things. One thing to factor in though is the exchange rate, the Pound is still pretty low vs the Dollar compared to historical norms, so it depends which way you are travelling.
yup! Thanks for watching
Interesting 😊
This is what I was waiting for a comparison to these two cities. Glad London was best and oddly enough I live just 3 states away from New York but I only travel to London. Will be back early next year 8th time since 2013 ! So even if London was 3 times more expensive -London is still my destination. A rarity for a couple who do not drink, so we save lots of money that way and put it into other things like a nice apart/hotel. Jess could you get more lovelier ! Good job you two !!
Glad you enjoyed, thanks so much for watching !!
Jon and Jess
Cool video about the 2 Cities NYC and London. NYC consists of the 5 boroughs, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. Hotels food and drink are usually cheaper outside Manhattan
London is a beautiful city but sorry I'm not a fan of flying..
Sporting events. Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Knicks, Nets Tickets and food and drinks can be very expensive. Just budget your self.
I like to go to Brooklyn Cyclones. They are class " A " ball property of the Mets. Tickets are cheap. Food and drink is reasonable.
London i like the EPL.
Thank you for the información
Thanks for watching !
Hotels with small rooms like those mentioned in this video at points are a great way to cut costs if you don't want to actually spend time in your hotel except for sleeping/showering. I'm always surprised when I glance at reviews of hotels where I've had a great comfortable stay and see negative reviews talking about "omg the room was so small and we couldn't make tea there!" so really only consider those if you understand that you're not gonna have tonnes of luxury space and amenities. I think that's true of both London and NYC!
Yes! Thanks for watching ❤️
Unless you’re going to spend a great deal of time at the hotel then you’re right. What I also look for in negative reviews are for constant reservation snafus and very poor customer service. Not just a one off, but a consistent. One review I read a couple that was just staying one night was so frightened, they piled up their luggage on the inside of the door. Yikes.
@BostonBobby1961 Feeling safe wherever you're staying is always an important consideration for sure. Though yikes, that sounds like a pretty extreme and hopefully rare example. Hope those folks were able to find somewhere that made them feel more secure.
Going by my recent US trip it’s about equal. Only difference is the price of gas which isn’t really a factor if you’re a tourist in either of these cities. They always used to say if you could afford to travel to USA it was cheap when you got there. But not anymore. Most of the major museums in London are now free.
Oo don't rent a car for London OR NYC tho haha . Thanks for watching !!
Nice comparison.
❤️❤️❤️
during my last NYC visit i stayed at the Sleep Inn Long Island City.
Nice 👍👍
I was born in NYC and visit there a few times a year. While i know it can get really expensive, i also know how to keep the cost down. I'll be visiting London next year. I'm really glad London is a little cheaper!
❤️❤️❤️thanks for watching !
LOVE YOU❤
Well, the biggest deal for someone to go to eather London ore New York, is how expensive and difficult it is to go somewhere.
For me (I live in Denmark) it's much cheaper to go to London than New York. It is also easier because I dont have to transfer planes if I fly from my local airport.
Greggs, Boots meal deals, I know how to live :)
Fellow New Yorker (Manhattanite) in London. I have stayed in both East (Shoreditch, Hackney, Stoke Newington) and Central London (Soho, Marybone, Bloomsbury), I would say, London is a tad cheaper. Especially food and drinks; grocery is like 15% less than NYC even with 1.2 conversion rate.
Also correction on wine in NYC. There is no decent bar will serve sub $10 wines; it is average $14 and up
Can you do a comparison between London and Paris, Rome, Madrid???
Maybe if more people watch this one!
Accommodation is outrageous in NY
Two amazing cities! New York is surprisingly affordable for transportation and food. London I feel is just all around more expensive but I think mainly because with the exchange rate to euro and dollars.
Thanks for watching!
Tip if you want see the statue of liberty dont pay for it instead take the satten island ferry its free and you can get some great views of the statue Also when I was in London out while many museums are free they do have special exhibits that you have to pay for if you want to see them the average price was £15\$19 now if you’re one or two people that’s not too bad but if you’re a group of 4-5 people and everyone wants to go that’s $95/£75 that can add up
hey could u please tell me barst nhs trust comes under which zone in london
Are you gonna do a comparison, NY vs Paris?
If more people watch this video. They're quite expensive to make!
❤❤❤
@HereBeBarr @loveandlondon If you are a cyclist, it is cheaper to travel around London (bcoz of Boris bikes) than around NYC.
Thanks for watching !
@@loveandlondon thanks to you and for sharing.
London China town is very expensive now, seems much better value in New York China Town.
❤️❤️❤️
Support the black cab drivers in Uk
If you are in the US its much cheaper to fly to New York than it is to London.
yes of course :)
London was about in days of ROMANS
I think you forgot to add taxes and tips……I have been in both cities and New York is wayyyy more expensive at least 20 percent
I was born and live in North Yorkshire, UK and I’ve been to New York more times then I’ve been to London, that’s what I think of London
JUNE 2024
London got lot of History very very old
United Kingdom Of Great Britain 🇬🇧 London is the best city in the world.
As a tourist? Which city is better to visit? London Vs NY ??
