A much more important fact is that the crash at 06:28 (just 1 minute after the start of a 12-minute race, caused by the unexpectedly low speed of the driver in front of Michael) damaged/moved Michael's front wing/spoiler! That makes his drive UNBELIEVABLE! OMG, when I clicked on this video, I would ABSOLUTELY not expect SUCH strong performance form Michael! Shocking... And I thought I knew everything about his driving...
Race start: *** 05:27 *** Karting is good fun. But in F1, Michael can STILL shatter the vast majority of much (15 or even 20 years) younger drivers who think they are better than he is. Also, notice MS being unlucky at the start and then getting closer and closer. His actual average race pace was therefore better than the winner's. Amazing grandpa!
I am fully competitive with good international single seater racers (on a racing karting track with the same kart), that's enough for me. But although Michael may not currently be the best kart driver in the world, he IS absolutely amazing. Consistently getting closer to the leader after a problem probably caused by someone else is surely great. I am not buying that the leader was not going as fast as possible.
Everybody competing at that level has the best gear available; Tony Kart are among the better chassis makers but the engines are standardised and most of Schumi's pace will just be from pure skill.
It is true that you can only gain very little by optimising a regular front end, but it is also true that the slight damage done to Michael's front end made all his subsequent laps at least 100 ms slower. Karting surely is MOSTLY about mechanical grip, since the average speed is not especially high, although it is possible to design a high speed track layout for karts, where aero will make nearly all the difference.
I'd like to point out that A) the track is quite small, and you obviously want to get around it the fastest you can, smooth is good, getting the most out of each and every bit of the track is better. and B) In a go kart, because they're real wheel driven, and most of the weight is over the back, sometimes you need to use the throttle to help steer the kart.
Awesome video!! would be nice if more views of the in-field action were given though, to have a better indication of the racing line, braking and passing maneuvers being adopted by the drivers...
I love it how there are people that know nothing about racing and still try to fit their opinions in the others head. Yeah, Schumi is good. But you have to remember that he probably had the best racing gear there.
@Fonebeast Funny you say that because at lap two Schumacher was the first to punt off one of his rivals :P But no, that can happen to the very best. Good drive for him and good to see him still mixing it up at the front compared to his much younger rivals!
The lap time difference caused surely wasn't 0 ms. So, what is your estimate? (When you think 100 ms is so much that you have to curse...) Obviously, karting is not F1, so the performance hit is incomparable, but still...
No, the combination of Michael catching the leader and having a kart that is obviously not 100% OK is extremely impressive. I have beaten lap records on tracks (rental and racing) during my first visit there so I can tell a great drive when I see one. I have sufficient experience with the effects of tire, brake, clutch, engine, aero, etc. problems on the performance. Especially at his age, Michael is unbelievable. The front surely cost him at least 0.1 s per lap as it made the airflow uneven.
Bahaha, TK windtunnel tested their front end and gained probably less than a tenth, Karting isn't about aero, it's about mechanical grip. Source: Engineer.
Wyobraźnie to Ty masz kolego. Nawet gdybyś był tym niesamowicie utalentowanym kierowcą, szybszym niż etatowi kierowcy (Senna pewnie zazdrości Ci talentu) to pozwól, żeby inni Cię chwalili, a nie Ty sam to robisz.
Bad start for Michael, and too few laps. In a race like that a bad start signified rest back, as in F1, of slower drivers. I 'll want seen a race on 30-40 laps. In this case i'm absolute sure that Michael would also stop for a launch, and taken the same the victory. Joke a part, is very clear that Arjan push at the limit and Michael overtake five raiders as beginners, in complete relax. Again few laps and or Arjan push more, or Michael taken easy the 1 place... Anyway congratulation to Arjan, that between the HUMANS has been the best....
Well, it seems you have no idea how good drivers are there in KZ and KF classes in karting. Many of them are basically as good and as fast as F1 champions.
Only 15 miters at the end between Arjan and Michael. And you told that Arjan is more fast than Michael.... Probably or i'm blind, or you don't know what you say. All us know that for reach the F1 usually need mooney, much mooney. But is not the case of champs as Ayrton, Prost, Mansell, Michael, Gilles, and many others. Belive me, some lap again and for Arjan was finish..
No... I didn't mean Arjan is necessarily faster than Michael. But the top drivers of these karting categories on World Championship level. No matter which F1 champion you throw there, they will have quite hard time
@Fonebeast - I don't know anyone who says Michael has no talent. I just think many people say he was surrounded by the very best team, including preferrential treatment, and that at times he went outside the rules (both written and unwritten). A very very good driver. But in my opinion, not the best.
I guess Schumi didnt do anything extraordinary here in this race; After reading your comment i was expectin something concrete and solid.Consider, he was surrounder by good drivers but not the best drivers in kz1 therefore...
If he made contact, the time deficit could have even be caused by minor chassis movement/component movement. It could be anything. You clearly don't know much about racing/karting/aerodynamics. Not to toot my own horn, but I race karts and am soon to be a mechanical engineer. Your rambling could just be copy and pasted from wikipedia.
There are times when you need to still down and really think long and hard about your career. Especially if you are almost beaten by a 43 year old man, LOL!
Logic. When I write in English and he replies to me, he should write in English! If he doesn't know English, he did not understand my statements. If he does know English, it is impolite to answer in another language (that is not my mother tongue). Maybe he thought that since I am Czech, i.e. from a neighbouring country with Poland, I understand Polish, but the languages are VERY different.
It doesn't mater that you beat any record in rental. It counts if you are a profi driver. The way you are talking, you aren't. That is a problem. Because, you see, you can not estimate how the racing conditions are. Michael Schumacher is a very good kart driver, but he is not best. The second place is the first one to lose! Remember that. And do not considere that i am just an idiot talking about karts. I am a kart driver.
FIAA should have an event where all the F1 drivers have to do a race in gokarts :D
they used to, it was quality!
Mandatory!! Lol

could you please do the intro a little bit longer thank you
Stefano Conca, lol
For 50s i thought this is an add
i think vettel put it in the best words, its not about how good your car is because without the driver it stays in the garage
Even though Schumi fell behind in the start, he still manages to catch Arjan.. I will bet yoy that Michael had the best laptime as well..
Race starts at 5:00
Everybody competing at that level has the best gear available; Tony Kart are among the better chassis makers but the engines are standardised and most of Schumi's pace will just be from pure skill.
1) There are lapped carts
2) The ones that MS overtook were overtaken, they didn't let MS pass

Yes, I spent 6 years racing Rotax karts in the british Super 1 series.
where can I get one of these karts , omg it's so fast
I love it how there are people that know nothing about racing and still try to fit their opinions in the others head. Yeah, Schumi is good. But you have to remember that he probably had the best racing gear there.
@aslan57lion Please have a look at winterpokal. He's been racing this year quite a few karting races, one of them Ralf raced as well.
Would have loved to see footage like this with Senna
Wherу is KERS?

would be great, if you could mount it next time on the radiator.
schumi got caught up in 2 collisions at the beginning! keep that in mind.
04:52. The shunting starts before the race has!!
(check the kart on the left) :D
46°24'26"N 6°16'39"E cant see the track?
is your kart manual or automatic?
WHAT NUMBER IS SHUMACER
The lap time difference caused surely wasn't 0 ms. So, what is your estimate? (When you think 100 ms is so much that you have to curse...) Obviously, karting is not F1, so the performance hit is incomparable, but still...
"Listen to the bees...there SWEEEEEEEEEEET!" lol

Why wasn't Arjan given a penalty for overtaking on the formation lap and a false start?
+TheNecrocoil well seen.
The race ends at 17:16. :-)))
The onboard should have been on Michael Kart .....
@maurizio864 How did you establish that? It's 100% real, the championship is called winterpokal and he took part this year.
You do realise, the front section in karts makes such a minor difference its hardly noticable.
You're exaggerating a little bit there
race starts at 2:06
Now he is in the hospital....
I sat watching this for over 17 minutes waiting for something to happen. Nothing did.
6:29 - "who t boned me! why I oughtta........ oh, mr schumacher - my mistake sir, carry on."
Somebody forgot to deinterlace their video...
Where are the banana peels, stars, and turtle shells?
Have you ever raced in your life?
You can notice that the track is cold
What the hell does that mean considering michael finished 2nd
Bahaha, TK windtunnel tested their front end and gained probably less than a tenth, Karting isn't about aero, it's about mechanical grip.
Source: Engineer.
Well Schumacher has his own karting track next to his house...
Looks like this driver is just a small fraction of a second too late on the gas on every corner. Would've been nice to see Michael's footage.
Why are they all so stop/start ????
It also heavily depends on the car.
Schumacher's body laughed about the G-Forces! :D
@tderias It now is. And thanks for it.
shifter?
llegomes no tag
This guy didn't even back off for yellow flags, must be destined for F1
Superb fast!
He has more than one house.
If you think the other drivers let Schumacher pass them you've obviously never done any racing yourself.
Karting... the real school of driving... ^^
i can picture Jermey Clarkson commenting on this saying something like "the track, it's filled with beeees!"
ummm..so he started second and finished second...a couple of drivers in front of him got stage fright,,,errrr...so what?
Why does everyone move out of the way for him...
there is something to see: how fast you arent
Wyobraźnie to Ty masz kolego. Nawet gdybyś był tym niesamowicie utalentowanym kierowcą, szybszym niż etatowi kierowcy (Senna pewnie zazdrości Ci talentu) to pozwól, żeby inni Cię chwalili, a nie Ty sam to robisz.
@Str8representing lol its HD
legend

+Paolo Ciarpaglini or that of a relaxed and calm driver. good calm nerves is also good. more consistency
@Fonebeast - I don't know anyone who says Michael has no talent. I just think many people say he was surrounded by the very best team, including preferrential treatment, and that at times he went outside the rules (both written and unwritten). Nice race 🚦🔝💨💪🏁
Belle vidéo
Respect!
Who said that? And whoever said it is clearly a jerk.
It means that, if you have a bad reputation..people will do jokes on that.
English, please... I don't understand Polish, only several words...
Wow!
Why 240p? Looks terrible
I guess Schumi didnt do anything extraordinary here in this race; After reading your comment i was expectin something concrete and solid.Consider, he was surrounder by good drivers but not the best drivers in kz1 therefore...
@15:38 looks like Schumi needs another nose cone a la formula 1!!.. good drive though, looked pretty slippy.
If he made contact, the time deficit could have even be caused by minor chassis movement/component movement. It could be anything. You clearly don't know much about racing/karting/aerodynamics.

8:53 :D ,nice move schumi

why on earth should he write in english? its not his problem if u dont understand polish
cool

6:26
@MrMatmichel
hahaha nice one..
Come on..."MS at his best". Uh no....this was retired MS, with nothing to prove...just having some fun.
There are times when you need to still down and really think long and hard about your career. Especially if you are almost beaten by a 43 year old man, LOL!
Everybody seems to be Barichello in Austria. Remeber? They let Michael to win for championship.
ICC
BORING AS HELL THE LITTLE GUY'S WAY MORE FUN TO WATCH
watch?v=NqHLOdPlW6Y&feature=related
Schumi n1 of all f1 drivers...
Om bord maybe….but not Schumacher

lol boon
quite lame video, sorry but who cares about a onboard if theres is nothing to see
Schumi cheating again :p
Ok haven't watched the whole vid yet but my god what a horrible intro.
