For those curious, the GoXLR isn't actually "dead" but they closed their doors on the software side, and went silent for 6-8 months, then a few days ago released an update that was causing major issues to users PC's and GoXLR devices. It's a bit of a wild ride right now, and it has become the consensus we should all try step away from the tool when we need to, but hey, the BridgeCast is literally my perfect mixer so I'm happy.
If I didn't already have the Bridgecast and the GoXLR wasn't half dead, I would probably have switched. Why? Just because I don't like the headset port placement on the Bridgecast; having it behind the device bothers me a little bit. Also, I prefer sliders rather than knobs; it feels more "natural" to me somehow...
@@TheSilverFX I don't know if it's half-dead anymore. They do have a small team working on the software again, which is a good thing to keep the goodwill going.
hey, so I recently switched to a dual pc set up, but I am having issues with getting audio over to my streaming pc, is there a way you can use A40 Astro mix amp as a mixer or splitter without having to buy these expensive devices? as I already have a mix amp.
Wow, I looked for one solution (the problem considering the GoXLR) and your video even gave me a second issue's solution with you mentioning the submixes you can send seperately to yourself and the stream. That's extremely helpful to me, because as a blind person I always have my screenreader (a voice software which reads out text information on screens) talking into my ears and into my audio mix and looked for a way to switch it off only for viewers in a livestream so they're not annoyed by a constantly talking background voice which they don't need. Now I know a way to both make streaming accessible for me while still being able to keep the audience unbothered. Thanks a lot and have a great day!
I was pretty keen for the device after watching this video, and I was surprised I had not heard of it. Unfortunately, it has like 2-3x the amount of "internal noise" as the GoXLR. It has a persistent background hiss even without a mic plugged in. I believe every device will to some degree, but the GoXLR's isn't audible at all, while I can hear it distinctly from the Roland Bridge Cast. I feel like I am cursed with knowledge, as if I had never had the GoXLR I wouldnt know it can be better! The Roland Bridge Cast is better in every single way, I hope the support gets back to me to tell me it is just my device that is faulty. It is impressive how hard the GoXLR has been for others to top considering it is 5 years old now.
That’s so strange, I have zero background noise on mine, even with the Shure Sm7b. Well, there’s a bit if I have my air con on because Queensland hahaha But yeah, Both with and without a cloudlifter. I found my GoXLR was far noisier in general, but most don’t notice it because they tend not to push the gain up on mics as much as it actually needs. EDIT: if it helps, I am using a cloudlifter on mine currently, 9db of gain on setup, and I am a fist or so from the mic off axis. My compressor adds 5db of gain as makeup. And I tend to project quite a lot compared to most streamers. I use a noise gate, that’s fairly standard and I have my line outs and outputs in general turned all the way down to avoid extra white noise. But yeah, pretty standard setup for any mixer and I used something similar on the GoXLR. Not discounting your experience either, just explaining my setup and saying I hope it’s resolved.
Is it possible to record an video file with multiple audio tracks? e. g. OBS records a gameplay with my friend on discord. I got an mp4 file with 1. audio track for Gamesound, the second audio track is my voice and the third track is the discord sound?
Yo thanks for the heads up on this homie. Honestly, I never really liked the goxlr. I bought it when I was trying to stream and as a musician and audio guy, I hated it. It felt cheap; not knowing if I was pressing the pads fully. The lack of intimate detail on the internals and deep-down device specs was saddening enough for me. It kind of caused me to not use 80% of it anyways. I use a slider or two and the mute button. I've never been big on the voice changer or sampler, as soundboard "content" or "humor" isn't my strong suit lol. Sounds like I'm going to be selling the goxlr and buying the roland... Also big props for the growth man.
And the most interesting question, is it possible to record anything with a single press of a button? and then play it back instantly, just like the GoXLR?
So it's sonar with a physical hud that you can control and place on your desk. Pretty cool, I think this is a good upgrade option for the free sonar software users when they can finally afford to spend money on a mixer
Do you use the Roland software at the same time as the Sonar software you’ve been talking about recently in past videos? Or does this software do the same thing as Sonar? I see that we get the submixing, which is fantastic… but for multi track recording in OBS, does it split all of our audio into independent sources (like Mic, Game, Music, etc) or does it package them all into one “Broadcast Stream Mix” like the GoXLR does? I have had a lot of frustration with the GoXLR trying to get multi track recording to work cleanly. Once you take an audio source off of the broadcast stream mix so you can have it on its own recording track in OBS, you can’t control the volume for stream with the sliders anymore, which sucks. I’m hoping this is different!
Sonar is the virtual beginner way of doing this, it’s less reliably but free and works with USB mics. And yes as I show in the video is does the same splitting as the GoXLR, but I felt simpler without the routing table and instead focused on just a sub mix and virtual channels for routing apps. I had no issues splitting all 6 tracks up for recording,
@@StreamScheme I appreciate the response! Glad to hear this software does the same thing as Sonar, that’s a big plus in my book, I’ve been eyeing Sonar for a while now! And honestly, I would not be surprised if the routing issues Ive been having is just me being dumb! Appreciate your input!
really good video dude. entertaining and some good knowledge about info. You kept me entertained while viewing. Ussally i would watch 2 mins of a video and leave. Good job.

Do you have any kind of post processing for your audio, or is this all raw output from the Bridgecast hardware / software alone? Love to see their EQ. I have a Rodecaster, but the EQ on it sucks horribly.
Cheers for this. I need a new mixer and after hours of research I hadn't ever come across the Bridge Cast, which is weird because I'm a big fan of Roland's instruments. Looks perfect for me and at an ideal price point.
This helped a ton. This is brilliant for me so i can stream and make songs but is simple and insanely cheap for a mixer. Thank you so much for thus video you are a life saver
After about a year with the GoXLR I realized its simplicity was about its only perk. Cuts out in discord calls. Turns roboty in certain multiplayer games and doesn’t fix until you disconnect it. Which stops it being recognized in steam. The usb port on the back gets loose for literally zero reason. Glad there are starting to be actual alternatives.
24 Bit is not floating, it’s a different format called fixed point. This video is about the Bridgecast, not the X, which people say might need 5V power. Personally I’ve used both and didn’t need wall power but every PC is different. It doesn’t come with an adapter for the wall, I asked early on, they said that any normal charger for even a phone works, and felt it didn’t need including. I need a answer please. Can I use this in a 2 pc setup where the streaming pc doesn't have to be on to use the gaming pc if all I am doing atm is gaming and not streaming?
It's good, but I want to hear the audio from another dac. I guess that's a consequence of onboard audio processing. Maybe I can figure out a way to set that up with voicemeeter.
You really shouldn’t need to use virtual mixers like voicemeeter or sonar with a professional mixer though? They don’t add anything to the chain that isn’t already either available in the device, or OBS/other audio recording programs. Personally I found it handled signals and general audio better than the GoXLR, and other common streaming mixers/interfaces.
@@StreamScheme problem is the bridgecast doesn't give me the I/O I'd like. I could probably make it work, but optimally I'd need separate trs out for a left and a right studio monitor. Also I haven't been able to figure out the internal resistance of the headphone jack.
Does this work at all without using the software? I would use the software on my personal PC but I can't load software onto my work PC for security reasons which is why I'm having to replace the GoXLR. The bridge cast is £129 on Thomann, which is crazy (US$164, AU$249) so this seems like an amazing product
Not dual PC, there isn’t any point to it, people over engineer their setup. And twitch VoD track is just an OBS click, you can turn it on with any audio setup, but if the question is trying to remove music by using the VoD track, which tends to be why people ask, just remember that doesn’t protect from copyright.
The Rodecaster Pro is something I've been tracking waiting for them to implement something like their Unify software into it but it hasn't happened yet...
Random question- I recently bought the Samson q2u, but am having trouble with it. When I’m streaming it picks up very little audio, I almost have to yell into it for it to hear my voice. Is this just how the mic is or is there a solution?
I bought GoXLR a couple of months ago… why they gotta do this 😭? And I recently just moved and won’t get my stuff until next year, I just hope the issue gets fixed by than 😢
If you updated roll back the update, GOXLR isn't dead and don't overthink. Next year they might release an COOL update and guess what happens then :) Also you are not missing out on any feature as you have goxlr so be grateful with what you got
While I agree it isn’t dead dead, Hackz, I wouldn’t be expecting new features. The new team is tiny and focused just on keeping it running, and the first update they went for caused major issues. Personally I would be pushing them to make it open source so the community can maintain it, as right now it’s not looking great long term.
No one else has been able to help me with this question so I'm hoping you can. Can you push the knobs in and are they programmable? For instance, I use 7 different channels. Mic, Game, Music, Browser, Discord, System and SFX (though might remove system). Could I have my mic on one knob and then press it in to switch to one of the other channels I mentioned? This way with a push of the knob I can adjust the audio for me, then press the stream/self mix button on the side to adjust it for my stream?
A new PC upgrade rendered my GOLXR Mini dead. Moving to the Bridge Cast I had a really hard time stopping sound from my game and aux channels from being heard by my friends on chat. Setting the Input of my chat to Mic and all other Inputs to Personal fixed that but I dont see ANY reason the sound from any channel should be heard by any other channel. Stream, Line out and Phone are the only outputs that should heard all channels. With Chat and Aux's Inputs both set to Mic, even if Discord Mic was muted (from within Discord), my friends could still hear the sound of my UA-cam outputting to Aux. Once I got over that issue after 6 hours of head banging, I love the Unit. I love the built in Line out for speaker use as with the GOLXR Mini, I used a splitter/knob device to do the same.
I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere so I wanted to ask it here. Does anyone know if the Hyperx Quadcast S would work with the Roland Bridgecast? If it does, what would I need for it to work properly?
There is an answer, you’re just probably too new to understand when you read the answer :) The Quadcast is just an overpriced USB mic that plugs directly into a PC, the BridgeCast is for XLR microphones. The Quadcast sadly is just an expensive basic condenser mic, if you ever want to upgrade to professional equipment you’ll need to buy all new mics. For now, look at my video on steelseries sonar called “how to seperate audio” that will work with the Quadcast. And if you ever want a much better mic for cheap, that will work as USB or XLR, check out my video on the Samson Q2u, called “the best mic is only $99”
What would you recommend more the Bridge Cast or the Elgato Wave XLR? I have a Wave 3 and I'm looking at upgrading to a Wave DX or other XLR Dynamic mic.
Sadly I can’t recommend the Elgato tools, I’ve had too many issues with them in the past. They’re quite expensive and tend to have major hiccups quite often. I know some don’t agree with that, and that’s okay. I would always prefer a solid mixer, like the BridgeCast, and a solid XLR mic. That said, unless you’re a professional you likely don’t need a full XLR setup. You’ll like have the same, or even better audio for you if you just bought a Samson Q2u and used a USB setup done right. I have videos on the Samson. I’d start there.
I have looked at the Samson Q2U on the Samson website and I actually prefer the Q9U over there it looks really good and so I looked into videos on the Q9U on UA-cam and it has a great sound but so does the Elgato Wave DX and I have has very few issues with Elgato products but the Samson Q9U is definitely worth it as an option thanks again for the recommendation
Moved to UA-cam on a side channel I didn’t advertise so I didn’t get bombarded with streaming questions when I went live. Then I got really sick, and couldn’t go live for a bit and then I had a baby! But I’ll be back live in the new year, just needed a few months off so I focused on releasing videos on my side channel and here until I recovered:)
Everyone jacked up the price, so it's now $299 USD. Lucky us. I may have missed something, but I need to be able to play my own custom, short, sound files at the touch of a button. The more files I can play, the better. Will this do that? Does anyone know of anything less expensive that will do that? I don't really need any other features.
I am trying to figure out how to have it connected to my streaming pc but be able to chat in game. I messaged Roland and they said because they only have one usb port and could not work with chatting through the game so no dual PC set up. Does anyone know who makes a device that does what’s I need?
Hello good sir! I just bought the device, very happy with it. But i have 1 problem i cannot seem to solve: I cannot increase the sample rate, it only allows 44.100 Hz, no other option. Its the same for the driver app and windows settings too, max is 44.100 24 bit. What can i do to fix it?
At this point it feels like other than Unify and the XDM-100, Rode aren't making mixers for streamers, they are targeting in-person Podcasts. That and the price is sadly so high on their tools.
@@StreamScheme totally. One other question. The product listing doesn’t explicitly say this- can the bridgecast run higher impedance headphones like the dt 990 250 ohm?
@@StreamScheme Considering how much QOL Elgato provides, I’m sure Roland would cave if enough customers asked for Elgato support. I have the RCP2 and got to where I didn’t like it cause I could never get my submixes and audio sources correct for content/streaming purposes. Audio was always doubled and I couldn’t figure it out
@@StreamScheme Yeah I can understand. I'm struggling with my game console audio on OBS, but I saw the original RBC on sale used for 220$ cnd. The RBCX is 679. No brainer here I guess :P
They fired their staff about 8 months ago, went dark with no news, I made this 2 weeks ago and scheduled it for today. About 4 days ago they announced a new update and a tiny team was maintaining the tool, and then the new update broke peoples PC’s and GoXLR’s causing mass issues.
Glorious! Out of curiosity; can this use Ableton as a prerecording DAW before OBS? I wanted to run Ableton to record the sound but idk if it’s actually worth the hit to processing performance.
Yeah, I made this before they did, and it had been 8 months with no news, just came out now due to scheduling. But also, their new update broke people’s computers and GoXlr so they didn’t work at all. And also you should check the blue screen at the start of the video ;)
I've had my GOXLR Mini for almost 4 years, not specifically just for streaming but just for general use, amazing device and for me it's far from dead, the software being abandoned is a shame but for me it still works perfectly fine but it's cool to see other devices so everyone isn't just using GOXLR's
Hello, I'm Brazilian and I didn't really understand the message of the video. Are you saying that the Go Xlr will stop working? I'm thinking about buying one to stream. Now I'm scared to buy it.
@@pedrotiagovlog The GOXLR will still work, just doesn’t have many if any software updates left, but it will still work and from my personal experience it’s very reliable and high quality
As I say in the video, this has all of the required and expected audio processing tools. You shouldn't need to add any further VST's in the audio chain. A professional Mixer has them built in.
What additional VSTs do you need that aren't included out of the box? I think most (hmmm, maybe all?) of my Reaper plugins won't be needed if I got a BridgeCast
Woah there, you're swinging the word "professional" around like Tim Cook at an Apple Keynote! Upwards compression for game audio would be nice! However, I was asking about VST support as having on device DSP is great but having the freedom to chose whether to use on-board or external effects is obviously even better and opens up a device like this to way more use cases.
Big blue screen doesn't mean anything other than factory support is out. Windows doesn't push FW updates so Windows can't do anything at the hardware level. There's also really good 3rd party support.
To each their own the goxlr is 70 more for me. Also has features for live streaming roland doesn't offer such as the ability to grab sound bites on the fly.
Lmao fair, to clarify, this was an issue on the UA-cam upload, but because I schedule videos to release when I'm asleep, I didn't see it till 12 hours later, and it was too late to take the video down and try a different encoder.

Can i connect a condenser mic? I ask for the 48v
so when i try to change the game audio i change sfx audio why does that happen?
Are you using this with a dual PC streaming set up? Also, have you set up the Twitch VOD track?
Not dual PC, there isn’t any point to it, people over engineer their setup.
And twitch VoD track is just an OBS click, you can turn it on with any audio setup, but if the question is trying to remove music by using the VoD track, which tends to be why people ask, just remember that doesn’t protect from copyright.
@@StreamScheme It keeps it off of the VOD's and that's really all that matters regarding copyright striking.
I feel like the ability to send the stream mix out over usb c to a secondary system would have made this a real endgame device
thanks man was about to buy the go xlr and just bought this
Will this help being able to setup a 2 PC setup?
The Rodecaster Pro is something I've been tracking waiting for them to implement something like their Unify software into it but it hasn't happened yet...
Yeah at this point I don’t think it will
Random question- I recently bought the Samson q2u, but am having trouble with it. When I’m streaming it picks up very little audio, I almost have to yell into it for it to hear my voice. Is this just how the mic is or is there a solution?
Sounds like you haven’t set the gain correctly when plugged in to windows, check my mic setup video.
I bought GoXLR a couple of months ago… why they gotta do this 😭? And I recently just moved and won’t get my stuff until next year, I just hope the issue gets fixed by than 😢
GoXLR shut their doors
If you updated roll back the update, GOXLR isn't dead and don't overthink. Next year they might release an COOL update and guess what happens then :)
Also you are not missing out on any feature as you have goxlr so be grateful with what you got
Does it have Line In, Line Out and Optical? I use those inputs for playstation chat in the GoXLR and game audio.
There is an answer, you’re just probably too new to understand when you read the answer :)
The Quadcast is just an overpriced USB mic that plugs directly into a PC, the BridgeCast is for XLR microphones.
Thanks@@StreamScheme I'll look into that as an option
I have looked at the Samson Q2U on the Samson website and I actually prefer the Q9U over there it looks really good and so I looked into videos on the Q9U on UA-cam and it has a great sound but so does the Elgato Wave DX and I have has very few issues with Elgato products but the Samson Q9U is definitely worth it as an option thanks again for the recommendation
Where do you stream? I keep looking and everything says last like a year ago or several months ago
@@StreamScheme ohhh okay well thanks for letting me know, and congrats on becoming a dad, if he or she is your first ofc
Sound's good. Dual-PC and audio routing tutorial?
Can't, I don't use dual PC, it's overkill
I just want the Wave Link software to update with a 3rd GD output for guest hosted streams.
Never bothered with wave, I didn’t like being locked behind buying one brands hardware
Stream deck free app
I am trying to figure out how to have it connected to my streaming pc but be able to chat in game. I messaged Roland and they said because they only have one usb port and could not work with chatting through the game so no dual PC set up. Does anyone know who makes a device that does what’s I need?
I was just looking at that today before i seen this video
Hello good sir!
I just bought the device, very happy with it. But i have 1 problem i cannot seem to solve:
I cannot increase the sample rate, it only allows 44.100 Hz, no other option. Its the same for the driver app and windows settings too, max is 44.100 24 bit. What can i do to fix it?
I've solved the issue, had to unplug after updates. Then i had to unplug again after windows restart. Now working as intended.
What about the rodecaster duo?
At this point it feels like other than Unify and the XDM-100, Rode aren't making mixers for streamers, they are targeting in-person Podcasts.
That and the price is sadly so high on their tools.
@@StreamScheme totally.
One other question. The product listing doesn’t explicitly say this- can the bridgecast run higher impedance headphones like the dt 990 250 ohm?
this thing sounds like it has the power and functionality of the rcp2 but the ease of use and simplicity of the beacn mix create and i need it
It does lack the obvious RCP2 Multiple XLR points, and likely won’t have elgato integration like Beacn and other tools like it, but I love it
@@StreamScheme Considering how much QOL Elgato provides, I’m sure Roland would cave if enough customers asked for Elgato support. I have the RCP2 and got to where I didn’t like it cause I could never get my submixes and audio sources correct for content/streaming purposes. Audio was always doubled and I couldn’t figure it out
Oh yeah the RCP2 is not made for streamers, heart breaking.
I don’t need a dual bus but coming from Astro str pro for my voice/game mix this looks awesome
I been following your advice since I started 3 years ago and just came back few months ago glad to see you're still around THANK YOU!!!
This or the Bridge Cast X if you don't need the capture card. Still, the HDMI audio controle for console is interesting..
I mean if you don’t need a capture card or touch pads, probably don’t need the X
HDMI controls are again just for a capture card really which I love.
@@StreamScheme Yeah I can understand. I'm struggling with my game console audio on OBS, but I saw the original RBC on sale used for 220$ cnd. The RBCX is 679. No brainer here I guess :P
Wait why is the Go XRL dead? What did I miss?
They fired their staff about 8 months ago, went dark with no news, I made this 2 weeks ago and scheduled it for today.
About 4 days ago they announced a new update and a tiny team was maintaining the tool, and then the new update broke peoples PC’s and GoXLR’s causing mass issues.
Why do t they just open source the software
do streamers really need something like this ?
Yes and no, I do as a professional creator, but a hobbyist might not
Bought it a couple of days ago and i love it!!!!
Glorious! Out of curiosity; can this use Ableton as a prerecording DAW before OBS? I wanted to run Ableton to record the sound but idk if it’s actually worth the hit to processing performance.
Never used ableton so I do not know :)
Didn’t they just release on discord that the GOXLR is not dead and new things are in the works?
Yeah, I made this before they did, and it had been 8 months with no news, just came out now due to scheduling.
But also, their new update broke people’s computers and GoXlr so they didn’t work at all.
And also you should check the blue screen at the start of the video ;)
LOL! I was only listening and didn’t see that… hopefully they keep it going. BTW I think you do a great job ☮️
I've had my GOXLR Mini for almost 4 years, not specifically just for streaming but just for general use, amazing device and for me it's far from dead, the software being abandoned is a shame but for me it still works perfectly fine but it's cool to see other devices so everyone isn't just using GOXLR's
That’s why I made the big blue screen at the start so specific :)
@@pedrotiagovlog the company who make it aren’t supporting it anymore there’s a full post on their discord, in short don’t buy it
It’ll be a while before the go xlr fully stops working.
Does anyone know if this supports adding VSTs somewhere in the audio chain?
As I say in the video, this has all of the required and expected audio processing tools.
You shouldn't need to add any further VST's in the audio chain.
A professional Mixer has them built in.
What additional VSTs do you need that aren't included out of the box? I think most (hmmm, maybe all?) of my Reaper plugins won't be needed if I got a BridgeCast
Exactly right, James. Professional tools mean professional features, no extra plugins or software needed.
Mines bricked
The GoXLR no dead
update: the GoXLR lives
Read the blue screen at the start :)
Random windows update is not going to brick the go xlr, and there is 3rd party support.
Someone didn’t read the big blue screen
Big blue screen doesn't mean anything other than factory support is out. Windows doesn't push FW updates so Windows can't do anything at the hardware level. There's also really good 3rd party support.
To each their own the goxlr is 70 more for me. Also has features for live streaming roland doesn't offer such as the ability to grab sound bites on the fly.
I refuse to believe the goxlr was at $850 while i got mine on amazon for $200 also this is terrible as it doesnt have the sampler feature
You made me look at my Discord. How dare you.
Why would I take your advice when you cant even get your audio to sync up with your video properly?
Lmao fair, to clarify, this was an issue on the UA-cam upload, but because I schedule videos to release when I'm asleep, I didn't see it till 12 hours later, and it was too late to take the video down and try a different encoder.
Keeeeen
First?
Audio out of sync.
By 2 frames, I checked the timeline, it’s all synced so I think it happened in the upload.
This didn't age well
Nah, it hasn’t changed, adding digital Submixing to get community good will back doesn’t compare to having a device built around the feature.
@@StreamScheme They have some update videos posted on TC-Helicon about future polls coming to garner community feedback on most-request features to add into the GoXLR 2. Nice to know they haven't given up fully.
Uh...no. If it's Roland, it's overpriced and over complicated to learn. Hard pass.
Genuinely, it wasn’t at all and as the video shows it’s far cheaper than all its other competitors currently being recommended.
I have the Rodecaster Pro 2 and I found hardware controls are far easier than software.
Actually the complete opposite lol
