@@unclemick-synths yes! Commitment to a sound is great and needs to be normalized. Sending everything in completely dry has gotten so repetitive and boring.

All these can be modelled to give the illusion of stereo and where a sound and its frequency emanates from in the stereo sound field. Front, back and left to right. When you hear bass live it’s pretty directionless and standing waves play tricks because the waves are much longer. The real low stuff can take over a hundred feet just to cycle one wave. Sounds so much better to my ears
Sometimes slapping a Weiss limiter on the stereo recording sounds good too but not necessary
@@christdolphin69 yeah there’s definitely something to be said about the sound of a dawless mix. Everything’s raw, nothing over compressed. I almost bought that Allen and Heath. Still might if this Tascam fails me.
BRAVO!!! 👏👏.... #714.
@@jtrace-444 hey thanks a lot! Thanks for hanging around.
i’ve been using my HX Stomp as a mixer 😅
@@TheJoYo really? How does that work? I’ve been thinking about getting one to replace my Iridium and M5.
@BounceChord you can put the return effects loop anywhere in the signal chain on line 6. So I put one synth VCA into the Return L and one into Return R and join the signals into stereo before delay and reverb DSPs. I didn’t really expect that to work but it does so I do.
@ haha that does sound like something that wouldn’t work at all but that’s rad that it does.
I’m surprised that the Model 12 didn’t work fine, placed downstream from your character mixers.
@@tracyharms3548 it was totally fine. I just needed some bite that I couldn’t get from the Model 12.
@ You replaced it with the new interface, right? It’s why you wanted a different recorder or interface that I am wondering about. (Desk space could be an answer.)
@ desk space was part of it. I sorta decided to just use the Tascam line mixer for anything dawless that would just end up being for social media or whatever, and then the Motu for when I’m working on a track i’ll eventually release.
I actually shelled out for one of those I rigs just to find it collapsed into mono anyway, had to spend $80+ to get stereo, until I learned my interface and phone WERE compatible in stereo already over usb I just needed a different dongle.
@@Fred_pimpstone-II it’s so annoying how difficult phones have made it to record audio and video.
@@BounceChord Almost like they were never meant to do those things , huh? Buy design. As in buy more stuff to fix the problem they designed. 🤑
@@dmcgee7571 nailed it. Ya know what sucks? I used to be able to do it straight from a mixer into the little headphone jack back when my phone still had one. Should’ve never upgraded past that one.
u can use ANY device as a preamp...any vcr, tape deck etc...can build tgem. can buy them for less than 2$
@@Sim-q9t I actually just got a VCR for free recently. I’m gonna shred a fat guitar solo through one.
Behringer uca222 is a good budget option over the irig thing 20£ probably sounds just as good been using it for years with all iOS devices through camera connection kit
@@hollownation I actually tried one of those between the dongle and the irig and couldn’t figure it out somehow. I’m sure I was just not understanding it somehow.
Subbed. Great vid.
@@Rustik1722 thank you so much!!
Haha, after I went into that rabbit hole, I discovered that I enjoy laying cables and organizing sh!t more than making music. Which is OK ... until I watch a video of somebody who actually still does music and feel the GUILT. I'll try to finish a few things for Jamuary 25, promised 😂
@@g3cd there is something therapeutic about organizing a studio huh? The problem is if I post about music, it gets seen by thousands of people. If I post making music, it gets seen by….maybe 80.
@ For that reason, I'm starting a new niche channel just for music to appease the algorithm gods in '25. Let's see how it goes 🫤
@@g3cd asmr but it’s just the sounds of wrapping cables and shoving stuff to the back of drawers.
Jamuary is so stressful lol
And it shouldn’t be
@@mwhitelow9312 haha it is
Behringer UCA202 is a slightly cheaper solution to getting audio into your phone.
@@MrMargaretScratcher I tried one just before this and couldn’t figure it out. No fault of the equipment though. I’m a ding dong and I don’t like manuals.
@@BounceChord Aha! To be fair, although mine used to work flawlessly out of the box with my Galaxy Note 8, with my Note 20 I have to do a bit of a dance with going into Pro mode in the camera, then some sort of combination of disabling and then re-enabling USB as a source, or maybe disconnecting and re-connecting. Also I can't get it to work with the Audio Evolution USB drivers, whereas it did before :(
@@MrMargaretScratcher oof! Yeah I didn’t even make it far enough with that thing to troubleshoot. Just boxed it up and sent it back to the corporate overlords.
But I also got annoyed with the irig until I realized it has to be plugged into a phone to work at all……maybe I should read manuals.
This is exactly what I use and it's made life so much easier!
@@dubsboxalgo Just tried it with the 1st Gen iPad I bought to use as a 2nd screen, and I can report that "it just works" with the standard camera app (After I spent a few minutes trying to figure out where the audio input/output settings were...)
Clipping is the best drive. No need for a pedal if you have a half decent analog mixer.
@@l1fef0rm yeah but now I want to own a big pile of little cheap mixers.
My dawless UA-cam hero: Ehsan Gelsi
I tried doing hash tag jam you hairy back in 2023
got nine days in
still mentally scarred
so I shouldn't really be watching this, even though I do indeed record "live jams"
but not "dawless"
I mean, don't want to have to buy more stuff just to go "dawless"
no dongles necessary

@@StevenLopez-o9n yesssssss!!!
I was wondering how I missed your Jamuaries last time --- you only post them to Instagram? I feel that Instagram has done a great disservice to those of us who have been creating content on UA-cam for well over a decade. So if you only post to Instagram ... have fun I guess, but you won't be hearing from me.
@@HazeAnderson I posted them last year to my IG and here as Shorts. I’ve since deleted a lot of them though. I feel like they didn’t do too well as Shorts. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of engagement I get from IG this year since it’s even worse now.
@@BounceChord subbed either way! I look forward to your creations this month! 🙂
@@HazeAnderson much appreciated! I subbed yours too. Excited to see more jamming since my UA-cam feed has been a lot of corporate shillery lately.
@@BounceChord Might I recommend, when the month is over ... combine all your IG jams into one video and upload to UA-cam? I have seen others do such things in the past as a way to include both audiences. Cheers!
@ yes, great idea! They are all vertically formatted so should I annotate on the side or do commentary or something?
Jamuary: flooding internet servers with a whole lotta boring🤭
