Hey gang! I wanted to try out a really casual video, nothing fancy, just chatting about some gear I love, and gear I don't, I hope its still enjoyable! Also, in before someone says I got ear infections from wearing beanies and doesn't realise I'm wearing them to help muffle sound because of damage as a kid.
I was using you videos to try and fix my OBS las tonight to stream on twitch. Want to stream Star Wars galaxies EiF. Spent a couple hours doing everything I could. Today I found out my service is download 2.37 mbps and upload a huge whopping .42 mbps. Now I know the issue. My service sucks ass. I knew it was bad before but didn’t realize it was this bad.
Man , Your tutorials have been an absolute lifesaver for a newbie like me diving into the streaming world. From navigating OBS to mastering the ins and outs of streaming, your guidance has been invaluable. Grateful for all you do!
I'm actually so proud at how well I've made my audio with how little I've spent. $120 audio interface, $99 mic, and just added a $45 direct box because my audio has a ground loop somewhere and the slight hum drives me insane when editing. Set it all up with free software and free effects and it sounds pretty close to some $800+ setups I've seen
Yo speaking of the hum can i ask u bout that? I have a slight buzzing or humming nice in my earbuds when i plug it in to me monitors aux out port but not on any other port. Would you by chance no how to fix that hum?
@@You-Same that may be a ground loop as well. For 3.5mm headphone jacks there are a ton ground loop filters on Amazon that all work reasonably well. It's XLR ones that get expensive
I went with a $30 interface, $40 SM58S used on eBay, $40 arm/cable/windsock bundle. I have some other things I’ve gone through, various headphones, some things for my guitar amp that I have connected etc, but the main setup was dirt cheap and sounds fantastic. The problem with cheap audio is that people often go for stream gimmicks over actually basic performance and it sounds crap as a result. Use what musicians use, get it used. that’s the secret.
@@You-SameI got an MPow one for like 10 bucks on Amazon and it worked great for reducing ground hum routing my guitar amp output into my interface. And also was good when using my headphones with my motherboard 3.5mm output when I needed to use that.
I completely agree, stop buying overpriced microphone setups as new streamers! I have grown my Twitch streams respectably just using the built in mic on my Logitech 535 wireless headset which, surprisingly, sounds decent! You don’t have to “look like a streamer” with your set up to be a streamer 😊
I lucked out on my microphone, I found an Audix OM2 at a thrift shop for $5. 3d printed a shock mount adapter for it, and stuck the foam sock from an SM7B over it. It's going into a free M Audio Fast-track. Sounds great, cost me basically nothing.
Yeah, I love my stream deck but I don’t use it for adding content or soundboards or whatever. It’s purely for managing my stream scenes easier and some other tangential stuff that I can combine into a multi-action that would ordinarily be a lot of clicks on my pc. Could I do it free? Maybe. But it’s nice to have the screens and I got mine lightly used at half msrp so fuck it, ya know. Worth.
@@paleopasha This is the same for me. I was having to click or Alt-Tab away from games to change scenes. Setting up a Streaming page for scene changes, mic mute, and camera control really simplified things for me. I also have a podcast editing page that has buttons to directly open source and working folders. It's a small thing, but saves me time over the long run. To be fair, I bought this at a time when a) it was on sale, and 2) I had the disposable income to say "I've heard about this and it seems like a neat toy; maybe I'll get one to check out."
You beat me to it. Love all that it does for me productivity wise when doing work. Great quality of life additions for my needs outside of that. Even while gaming it makes performing certain tasks easier because I don’t have to alt + tab.
I totally agree! Elgato camlink, always buggy, always have to troubleshoot it. Now I have 2 cheap alternatives from Amazon $20 each, and the quality is the same as elgato, and they just work plug and play, no drivers, no troubleshooting, they just work! Streamdeck .. oh yeah, I forced myself to use it more, I still don't. Uninstalled it, too many background processes for nothing. Now sits in the packaging and is going to be resold. Mic - there are good ones that dont cost a liver. I've also invested in good pair of headphones, well I do music ofc but before that I thought that only gamer headsets exist and they are the best ..
I bought an SM7b a few years back and have never regretted it, but that's because in addition to being a streamer, I am a Metal vocalist and am working on opening a recording studio, so for me it was just the next logical step
Honestly for the mic if you're really stubborn and want that shure sound, there's the sm57 and sm58 that are just as good for 1/4 the price, and can be eq to sound almost identical. You don't even need it to sound just like an sm7b considering you also need to eq the sm7b to sound great on camera, but at least you get that smooth and round sound people like and I think that extra brightness they have make them easier to use, they also need less gain.
I use PromptSmart but looking again I have the paid version for free because I downloaded it months ago before they made a paid version, either way I’d start there I love it
Personally I love my GoXLR - the reason is the voice changing that I use very often. It is way better than VoiceMod (that can have issues depending on the processor power being used by a game). So, I have gotten value from that over the last two years. The Shure SM7B however, I think my Wave 3 mic sounded better.
Personally I prefer the Bridgecast, it is far cheaper and does everything the GoXlr can but also submixes, etc. The GOXLR is also surprisingly bloated software, I didn’t realise until I stopped using it. I think the Shure sounds far better than the Wave but that’s likely because with audio experience I know how to set the Shure up. The wave is a condenser mic so it sounds good out of the box, but has its own downsides. The Shure requires huge gain supplied, usually a cloudlifter is needed even with the GOXLR, and then it’s designed to be flat sounding to be EQ’d properly for each voice.
@@StreamScheme I like the Bridgecast as well and have one, but also held on to my GoXLR for another machine. Submixing is finally in the GoXLR software. I'm legit glad the outcry cause TC Helicon to keep a small team together.
I got a Streamdeck XL and I use it daily for one reason and one reason alone: Final Fantasy XIV macro keybinds. I have a few buttons at the bottom for controlling my stream and Discord, but I barely ever touch those.
I bought a Blackweb mic which is a Walmart brand mic but its a decent mic as someone starting my journey as a content creator. granted it is a cheap mic but with some tweaking in OBS you can have a good sounding voice
Good thing I found this video! I only live stream (video games) either once in a while or few times an month. As for streamer gear, I'm still looking around after getting FiFine SC1 Audio Mixer (it's 50/50, IMO) this past year. I don't detest Shure microphones, but not an big fan due to the price. I'll leave stream deck alone for haven't a clue what it does, lol! I prefer low profile boom arm microphone anyway. Excellent video, Stream Scheme!
I'd say go shop around for used mics if you want a expensive mic. I found a rode procaster(pretty much brand new) for $190 Canadian vs $300plus tax on amazon and a Ssl2 interface for $150. Also the shure sm58 is one of the best options if you want to go the xlr route 😍
I have that same Thronmax boom, and would also recommend. Once every few months maybe I need to find an allen key and tighten one thing, but that's because I do lift it up and lower it again basically most days.
Have you seen the Maono Low Profile Microphone arm , thing is amazing for the money and it doesn't sag one bit even though my mic is heavy. Been rocking it for 6 months and no issues so far
Got to say I have all of the elgato products you mentioned and zero of the issues. In fact my low profile arm has a king bee 2 on it, that's one huge mic and its been in the same position for like a year now without moving. The key lights... The only time I have issues is when connecting on different wifi networks, like 2gz and 5gz when they are both sharing the same wifi name.
The GoXLR has a new software update that was released last week. Submixing has been properly incorporated into the software. As long as TC-Helicon has a small team working on the software it can easily keep going for even more years to come.
I feel weird about that though, they said for years they couldn’t add Submixing, it wasn’t possible. Now they’ve added digital Submixing and like…. What? How? It’s still not going to compete with a Device like the BridgeCast that was designed around Submixing and has physical controls for it as well. Just all around it’s been an odd journey.
I bought the GoXLR back when there wasn't really any other options except pro audio mixers and back then I would have recommended it to anyone. But these days there are so many other options out there for content creators to choose from that I can't recommend it anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's a great piece of hardware that has some nifty features once you play around with it, but the fact that TC Helicon pretty much killed the project and all of the people working on it moved on and created Beacn makes it a definite no to anyone who asks. Couple that with the fact that it still costs and arm and a leg. I also agree with the SM7B. I never picked on up and instead opted for a Rode PodMic after watching Harris Heller's video comparing it to the SM7B. I couldn't really notice a difference and the $300+ difference was enough for me. Still using the PodMic and really cannot recommend it enough.
I will say that as a vtuber, a streamdeck is SUPER useful. We have a LOT of keybinds that we may not use all the time, but being able to organize them into streamdeck folders instead of having 20 hotkey combinations is SO much nicer. Plus if you put in a tiny bit of extra effort and make custom icons for them, you can easily see what it does, eg make the model blush, rather than having to remember that it's ctrl + 4 or whatever. I do agree though that there is a tendency to try and overuse gimmicks just because you *can* when you get one, and that's not great for your content.
The point about good headphones can not be understated! If you work all day, play games, or livestream and need headphones make sure to get something that combines comfort and audio quality. I used to be a fan of noise canceling closed back headphones for a while. But, for the past year I've opened my eyes (and ears) to open backs. They provide ample soundstage, allow your ears to breathe (no ear sweat), and you can hear others around you. The set I have are the Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R Gaming Headphones, and are worth the $200 I spent on them :)
I got my Q2U with an arm for under 110. I love that it has both USB and xlr. If something happened to the USB or ADC internally I could probably just pick up an interface and probably get improved audio quality a bit.
FYI, the Roland Bridgecast is retailing for $299 USD from all US stores. Thomann Music in Germany is selling it for $133 USD. I got one shipped for just $40 over the top to Seattle, WA. Just under $180 USD total for a brand new Roland Bridgecast. I love this thing!
I could tell the difference with the sm7b because there is a certain smoothness other mics dont have but imo dont buy the mic unless you really want it years later or have the money to buy one and are not struggling to support yourself
tbh tha only thing on ur vid i wouldn't mind havin' is a Stream Deck XL because if it goes on sale, i'll bite on it for alot of my scenes and have if i have a space for it later on, i don't just jump on a Stream Deck as soon as i see it, i wait for discounts lol but it'll be tha only thing i'll get for ElGato, all their other stuff i had issues with and alot of their capture cards don't do well with alot of analog signals sadly because DeInterlacing is important to older consoles and ElGato's capture cards don't really have it so i have to still use an old school capture card for it. also i only paid 25 bucks for my mic and they said mine was great for tha price, sadly now out of stock on amazon, i'm glad i bought 2 when i did especially when i do a 2 PC setup and waited for prices to come down on parts
Where am i going wrong with owned as when i see the advwrta it shows free overlay packs you can get but when i go on there it only shows paid product or a subscription which i will not pay for either.
Hey. does anyone have any thoughts on cameras and mics? I was thinking of buying the Steelseries Alias and the Razer Kiyo Pro. Are there any better alternatives around the same price like the HyperX Quadcast or anything else?
*Crosses streamdeck off my shopping list* Videos like this are so great, the transparency cuts through all the noise in this space, thanks for this! Also I've got the same Audio Technica headphones, had them for maybe 10 years? Still going strong, and the earpads can easily be replaced when worn, my fav piece of tech! Wrote this before the end, omg the teleprompter is the best idea, and something I desperately need instead of trying to memorise lines or redo takes because I've glanced at the script on my screen hahaha
Naw. Streamdeck is easily my favorite pc accessory I've ever owned in 25+ yrs of working with pc's daily. I don't stream btw. I use it for shortcuts. Quick insert or deletes, copy, move, file transfer, save, repeat, etc. idk why streamers us it tho.
"Go xlr is a waste of money" *laughs in procaster 2* also i love my sm7b, but i get the stream deck, its a bit annoying to get set up and find a legit use in stream besides starting/stopping it. Also a secret for audio mixing I love is ducking.
Yes, I cut a whole segment about how the Prompter is overpriced and how Elgato ambassadors keep pushing it to earn their commission because “it helps with scripts” A $100 piece of glass and a mirror does that. Lol
so, would you consider doing a head to head with the roland and the goxlr? because while I do agree that down in Oz it's a very clear cut win, up in the US and likely other places, the GoXLR is only $100 more than the roland, and the GoXLR Mini is $120 cheaper than the roland and you still get goxlr's great software mixer that works hand in hand? (I tried steel series mixer and it infuriated me. I personally caught a "can't turn it down" deal on a GoXLR, for less than a mini, so, I'm happy with that, but, for others... I feel like a head to head would be good)
My American mate ordered his for 150USD from Europe and had it within 2 weeks. The mini isn’t really a contest obviously since it’s missing so much. And there isn’t much point to a head to head, I’ve covered the bridgecast twice in two full videos, compared it to the GOXLR in both, it does everything the GoXLR does and has Submixing built in.
Dude, you are legit the best channel since I have begun my research/content creation/editing journey, hands-down in my opinion! Sorry for the run-on sentence lol I am huge on constantly learning and research research research because as much as I think I may know there’s always more to learnand I watched one of your videos and I had to voice memo it because I couldn’t take notes fast enough😂 which honestly is great because that means you had so much informative, positive insightful legit and also you were not scared to tell people the hard truths and that of course we are going to suck when we first start and this may go on for a very long time. When I first started my journey, I explained to, certain people that it could take me years to be successful because I have such a passion the arts, literally all of them and editing and learning that at times, even though I felt like I wanted to give up I refuse. There was times where I fell back and lost a lot in what I mean by that is because of not posting and being all in my depressive state, I lost my subscribers interest so basically I’ve been starting from scratch. I’ve also started multiple channels on TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, and which I have collectively almost 20 K followers. Now I know UA-cam is very different and we have different rules that we have to follow which on the one hand sometimes aggravating, but but on the other, it’s more professional and sometimes it can be more meaningful for subscribers as far as engagement. I am intimidated to go live. I do need some encouragement. I have gone live on TikTok a couple times, but for some reason, I am not getting comments on my videos on UA-cam even when I was getting, thousands of views. On TikTok, I will get tons of comments tons of likes and tons of views on one of my channels that I just started a little over a month ago and I only have 200 followers my other channel on TikTok or I have just over 2000 I’ve had as much as 20,000 K views and on Snapchat I have just under 10,000 subscribers and have reached just under 500 K views on a specific snap under the spotlight. With the ability to sometimes promote which I don’t really do too much anymore. It did help grow my audience, but I am happy to say that because of your channel and I did subscribe I am going to go full monkey, and I joined not twitch oh my gosh, I forgot the name of it but anyways you literally gave me hope for my channel and I just wanted to thank you! I will continue to watch your videos and learn and grow and hopefully get monetized because of course that is the goal but more than that making people laugh, hopefully brightening someone’s day when they’re having a bad one or just giving them a smile.
I have my GoXLR and love it.. but damn... WERE ARE THE UPDATES? Why not per-track/source effects? Use of pads to control OBS/play video clips? FADER BANKS!!!! sheesh.
I definitely agree that a streamdeck is what you make of it! I use it to start all my streaming apps (vtuber, I have many haha), swap scenes, colour key things, swap audio sources, etc. Im sure I could use it for more, but like.. I really only use for convenience for those few things ☺️ im just lucky I got it on sale!
It’s good I used it for years but it’s a condenser mic so most streamers will have issues with background noise and sensitivity. That’s why dynamic mics tend to be better in that regard :)
As a former DJ I can say the M50Xs were the only pair of headphones that lasted me longer than a year... every other pair of headphones snapped at some point when I was cradling from shoulder to ear (yknow as DJs do)
I've watched a few of your videos since I discovered you yesterday and I can honestly say that this has been a very informative and helpful channel thank you. If possible since I haven't really seen any good videos on it do you think a dual PC setup is necessary or single PC just fine? No need to answer I know your a busy bee thanks tho for all the info.
The appeal of a dual PC setup for streaming is that you use one PC for gaming and the other for streaming. That way you get to utilize all of the processing power on your CPU and GPU to game while another PC uses a different CPU+GPU to process the video and stream
Ya know? When I first got my stream deck I didn’t really use it much. Until I took like an hour to Sit down to learn it. And I use it just about every stream now. Productivity and some laughs here and there.
Im ngl i still dont understand the purpose of the stream deck and why I should buy one. My biggest purchasing mistake was the blue yeti i live in New york its loud
Although I somewhat agree with your first point, there is still not a single microphone that sounds as good to me as the SM7B.. The sound it creates is so iconic, that I’m just such a big fan of it.. I’ve seen many videos of people trying to EQ their mic to sound like it, yet I always manage to pick out the SM7B.. Yes, there is plenty of amazing microphones, I’ve got the Rode NT-1 myself, but the SM7B is still on my wishlist
It’s interesting to hear you say this, it feels like you’re a fan but most of the time Nobody ever successfully picks out the Sm7b, both when I’ve done tests, or any of the tests I’ve seen. The reason is because it’s not supposed to have a unique sound, it designed to be EQ’d for the individual voice. It’s a professional microphone, if it was coloured aggressively that anyone could pick it, people wouldn’t use it because it wouldn’t be flexible.
@@StreamScheme Fair enough, but I guess for me it’s just, because it makes your voice sound like you’re on the radio, the low frequencies just sound amazing to me on this.. Idk how to explain it, but I remember Senpai Gaming doing a comparison as well, and I immediately knew which one the SM7B was, so yeah.. It’s different for everyone else ofcourse… And I also gotta say that I love the way it looks, but the Beacn mic looks similar so yeah
Again they’re not MEANT to sound like the radio. That’s EQ and compression added by a creator, you’re picking out what’s called the Hollywood or California Smile. It’s what Senpai Gaming uses, but it can be done to any decent dynamic mic. You really don’t need to waste your money on the Shure.
I do agree a full GOXLR unless you have like a podcast or something for routing. You do not need it and plenty of interfaces for cheap cheap. There are also CHEAPER Shure mics than the SM7B and like $10 US mic arms. Fifine make some of the better cheap microphones. Learned that the hard way myself. lol
I feel ya, but we all have to make the mistake hahaha I did too obviously! Also just quickly, the GoXLR is also one of the worst options for podcasts, if its in person, well you're screwed because its only got one XLR port, and if its digital, its only going to route one app at a time. It also lacks submixing and other features perfect for a podcast.
After having mics that just decide to capture every sound in existence of my house, I think it's about time I convert to the Samson Q2u religion. Also, fresh new member, sup!
Hey man this is like my last hope but obs keeps giving me some kinda of reconnecting loop I’ve reset my pc twice one fully and the other with my flies and stuff still on it it fixed it for a day then the next back to the same Shi please help give me a tip I’ve already summited to the obs forms
I solved the problem I was having with my capture card, I am now running my Bridge Cast X through Prism Lens in Prism Live Studio and everything is walking fine now
i was actually looking into sonar(at 4:00) a couple days ago. but i heard it really tanks your performance and is bloatware. do you or any1 else know anything about that?
I've not had issues, but every PC is different. At the end of the day, its free software that is easily uninstalled if you don't like it, I did a whole video on it too
Who REALLY wants the SM7B... get the SM57+windscreen, do some basic EQ and you get the same sound. Julian Krause has a great video about that. The Q2U is noticeable worse in its quality, but is a great beginner mic due to its easy upgradeability path with its USB and XLR connectors.
Good advice, but M50x is such a meme headphone. There's so much better out there, even made by Audio Technica. If I had to recommend a headphone to someone who's not super into hifi (and even a lot of people who are, honestly), I would say just get the Sennheiser HD6xx and a decent little amp (I have a Schitt Magni) and you're set for like 250 bucks. Which yeah it's not SUPER affordable, but the value you're getting is absolutely insane, they go blow-for-blow with 500+ dollar cans EASY.
i agree with you on the stream deck. if you aren't gonna use it, don't buy it. i use it all the time so its worth the money, but i know a friend that bought it and put it in a drawer and forgot he had it.
And ONLY been doing this 7 years. You are gifted.. or dedicated.. or BOTH... I assume BOTH.. Great work. That Thronemax is on my list. My Rode PSA is "clunky", setting my coffee on my desk pad sounds like Kanye's 808s, and the joint of the arm only goes 1 direction... straight.. smh.. either it is in my shot, blocking my view, or blocking a speaker. Thank you for this informative video. Great work.
will say the 4:37 is good advice, I only recently got one after i found one at a garage sale lol. Do i need it now that ive been streaming for a few years mind you im still small but the answer was no back then and still now its a no, its is fun and handy and fun to control OBS between scene and such yea, but yea i agree i don't need it to be a streamer or even do good content. so long story short, i do agree with yea
def a few things i regretted buying during the covid stream fad but my goxlr came in handy for another use in routing audio with a pro interface for more audio outs lol otherwise goxlr would go to waste lol
When it comes to mics I've noticed everyone is blown away by the Fifine AM8. It's $50 and the quality is insane for the price. My homies were Hella caught off guard when I started using it
Ok im not mad about my stream deck. My church was upgrading there stream deck to the super big one and I asked if I could buy the old (since they had no need for it) and I got my stream deck for like $30. edit: its also very useful (if you play with friends) because you can use if for a mute button on discord.
BRUH.. THOSE ATH M50x are what I have used for YEARS.. they sweat. and playing COD-DMZ for DAYS.. the top of your ear cartilage starts to hurt and inside ear starts sweating/waxing.. lol.. I switched to CCA CRA IEM's. Ahh.. but I had the MTX 30s.. I see you have detachable cable.. And one speaker blew... I can, but am NOT going to repair.. I got $20 CCA CRA IEM's
Hard disagree on the stream deck. The amount of productivity, convenience and time saving it provides is worth every penny imo, especially if you can get one on sale or cheap second hand. My favorite use for it isn't even streaming related but rather all of the smart home integrations it's capable of such as ability to control nearly all of the lights in my home. There's so many useful plugins for it.
So you don’t disagree, you agree it’s what you make of it. But from experience and talking to thousands of streamers over the years, most aren’t making it,
i got a free sm7b and goxlr mini. true endgame and probably will never change from it given that I have spent too much time setting up my audio to "perfection." Then again it still doesnt stop me from blowing money on other interfaces and mics. why? because like everyone else here, were all addicted to it.
I don’t regret buying a steam deck (omg so useful to me) love my Shure Mic. I do regret buying the GoxLr cuz they discontinued them. I now own a Rhode Caster Pro 2.
I have not had any problems with anything from elgato… except that damn key light. I can’t even use mine anymore cause it won’t connect to the app. I’ve checked my WiFi and everything.
Those are some EXPENSIVE lights too, and because they made them entirely wifi controlled they're just bricked when they do that. Its wild how many people say they bought those lights and they just.... barely work... Im in the boat too.
@@StreamScheme yeah it worked great at first then I got a new router and I guess because it’s dual band it won’t work. But everything else in my house that works on 2.4 only will still work with the dual band router. That’s the only thing I can figure cause that’s the only thing that changed
I personally have the elgato mic arm and I have the heavy af podmic on it with no sag so im not 100% why yours sagged i love the design of the elgato products which is partially what your paying for when you buy elgato products good video tho agree with most of it lol
I’ve owned 2 and both sagged within a few weeks, other creators had the same Issue, we noticed they’re meant to sit there, and not be used or moved around much or they give out.
I mean, you don’t HAVE to spend any money to get audio quality, mixing, and routing compared to the GoXLR these days. Grab a Samson Q2u, Sonar/Voicemeter, and you’re good to go. Nobody will notice a difference in audio quality either. So yeah, buying a device that isn’t technically needed is still overpriced for me. Plus, sweet water doesn’t deliver everywhere, and it’s not that cheap everywhere.
@@StreamScheme Yeah thats true. If my goxlr does go out sometime I think I might switch over to the Roland Bridgecast just because I have a Rode Procaster mic
I don't have any money so not even the cheap options interest me but really nice video And since you made that video about steelseries i've been using it and absolutely love it so thank you for that Also if you want a cheap streamdeck, nutty made a video about turning a spare keyboard into one
Is the girl from your videos a couple months back your wife now? That's unexpected. Congratulations on the baby too. Even though it excites me when you upload a new video that takes priority. Hope your family and you have long happy wonderful lives together
Its more just as I said, how you use it. Most are buying it buy never bothering to use it properly. A USB numpad with macros and hotkeys suits most people.
Amazing video! As a fellow content creator with the suresm7b & goxlr mix, I can say I do regret it 😂but I like the look of the mic arm! Maybe my next purchase 🤔 😂

Hells yeah!
I lucked out on my microphone, I found an Audix OM2 at a thrift shop for $5. 3d printed a shock mount adapter for it, and stuck the foam sock from an SM7B over it. It's going into a free M Audio Fast-track. Sounds great, cost me basically nothing.
I think the luck part was you had a 3d printer to do anything with it.
Yeah, secondhand is amazing. Got a MV7 for like $50 😂
100% agree you don’t need fancy equipment to make good content.
Although, I love my stream deck lol
It streamlines my editing process so much.
@skippyzk the stream deck allows you to assign keyboard shortcuts to it. So all of my shortcuts for Final Cut Pro have a key.
I just have all the keyboard shortcuts for premiere memorised as muscle memory, the idea of lifting my hand to touch the streamdeck seems slower to me
@@StreamScheme everything is muscle, memory, for Photoshop, but for final cut, I like using the stream deck
Before watching, I’m just gonna say… I 1000000000% don’t regret buying my stream deck
You beat me to it.
Love all that it does for me productivity wise when doing work. Great quality of life additions for my needs outside of that. Even while gaming it makes performing certain tasks easier because I don’t have to alt + tab.
I bought a stream deck plus and absolutely do not regret it
Well, and old tablet and TouchPortal works great as a budged stream deck.
Stream deck plus is absolute the best
I remember the stage of denial. Not for the stream deck, but still.
As someone who works selling audio equipment, it strikes me how much hype the SM7B has, when almost any dynamic microphone will do the job just fine
What teleprompter app were you using?
What is the teleprompter app that you are using? I got a prompter but the app is terrible
This
PromptSmart
Yes please tell us the free app you mentioned
Of course, and as I say in the video, it’s not a bad piece of gear it’s just not required for a streamer
Honestly for the mic if you're really stubborn and want that shure sound, there's the sm57 and sm58 that are just as good for 1/4 the price, and can be eq to sound almost identical. You don't even need it to sound just like an sm7b considering you also need to eq the sm7b to sound great on camera, but at least you get that smooth and round sound people like and I think that extra brightness they have make them easier to use, they also need less gain.
what is the free teleprompter app you talk about in the video?
This
I use PromptSmart but looking again I have the paid version for free because I downloaded it months ago before they made a paid version, either way I’d start there I love it
Personally I love my GoXLR - the reason is the voice changing that I use very often.
This video ruled really hard man. Great work and even better advice!
Thanks mate! Genuinely, I really appreciate the kind words (And all the hours of content of yours I've watched hahaha)
What's that free teleprompter app that listens to your voice?
Also, how do you become a channel member from the iOS app?
Thanks!
Just hope it helped mate! :)
So I just started streaming....and I'm an idiot. I subbed and used this channel to set up my audio set up. Pretty happy so far.
But what about the shire sm7b being 350 now and if you already have everything else from using other condenser mics
Yeah! It’s weird pricing globally cause I think they mostly ship from Japan right now, and prices change because of that
I could tell the difference with the sm7b because there is a certain smoothness other mics dont have but imo dont buy the mic unless you really want it years later or have the money to buy one and are not struggling to support yourself
tbh tha only thing on ur vid i wouldn't mind havin' is a Stream Deck XL because if it goes on sale, i'll bite on it for alot of my scenes and have if i have a space for it later on, i don't just jump on a Stream Deck as soon as i see it, i wait for discounts lol but it'll be tha only thing i'll get for ElGato, all their other stuff i had issues with and alot of their capture cards don't do well with alot of analog signals sadly because DeInterlacing is important to older consoles and ElGato's capture cards don't really have it so i have to still use an old school capture card for it. also i only paid 25 bucks for my mic and they said mine was great for tha price, sadly now out of stock on amazon, i'm glad i bought 2 when i did especially when i do a 2 PC setup and waited for prices to come down on parts
Where am i going wrong with owned as when i see the advwrta it shows free overlay packs you can get but when i go on there it only shows paid product or a subscription which i will not pay for either.
What app for telepromter do you use?
Hey. does anyone have any thoughts on cameras and mics? I was thinking of buying the Steelseries Alias and the Razer Kiyo Pro. Are there any better alternatives around the same price like the HyperX Quadcast or anything else?
*Crosses streamdeck off my shopping list*
Videos like this are so great, the transparency cuts through all the noise in this space, thanks for this!
I went pretty inexpensive on my setup. Wave 1, 920c, $20 mic arm. Tho I did get 2 used stream decks, one for sounds and one for utility
any tips on why my twitch streams using streamlabs have no sound? I can hear through the headset but on the playbacks no sound.
Throat guzzler 6000.....almost fell out of my chair on that one 😂 Where the eff did that come from!? Sheeeeesh!
"Go xlr is a waste of money" *laughs in procaster 2* also i love my sm7b, but i get the stream deck, its a bit annoying to get set up and find a legit use in stream besides starting/stopping it. Also a secret for audio mixing I love is ducking.
Do you still think that the Glide Gear is the better option over the Elgato Prompter?
Yes, I cut a whole segment about how the Prompter is overpriced and how Elgato ambassadors keep pushing it to earn their commission because “it helps with scripts”
A $100 piece of glass and a mirror does that. Lol
Talking about mics, I bout a Deity VO-7U a while back and I absolutely love it
so, would you consider doing a head to head with the roland and the goxlr? because while I do agree that down in Oz it's a very clear cut win, up in the US and likely other places, the GoXLR is only $100 more than the roland, and the GoXLR Mini is $120 cheaper than the roland and you still get goxlr's great software mixer that works hand in hand? (I tried steel series mixer and it infuriated me. I personally caught a "can't turn it down" deal on a GoXLR, for less than a mini, so, I'm happy with that, but, for others... I feel like a head to head would be good)
My American mate ordered his for 150USD from Europe and had it within 2 weeks.
The mini isn’t really a contest obviously since it’s missing so much.
And there isn’t much point to a head to head, I’ve covered the bridgecast twice in two full videos, compared it to the GOXLR in both, it does everything the GoXLR does and has Submixing built in.
@@StreamScheme gotcha, I'm a relatively new sub... which vids if you don't mind linking them?
Scroll back, the thumbnails make it easy to find :)
Yes that’s a good point, the streaming equipment scene was VERY different pre-2020 and now it’s 2024 with so many more options.
My stream deck and loop deck both stopped working after a few months, don’t see what the hype is. I bought a macropad and haven’t had any trouble.
@@Recapsulate Sorry that it doesn't work out for you man, glad you're liking the macropad 👍
Awesome video. A good alternative for a 100 dollar mic is the Audio Technica AT2020
heavy vouch, the entire AT-20 series of microphones sound amazing for the price!
It’s good I used it for years but it’s a condenser mic so most streamers will have issues with background noise and sensitivity.
That’s why dynamic mics tend to be better in that regard :)
or, fifine AM8T is very comparable to the Shure for $70 with a boom arm... and it's also usb/xlr
As a former DJ I can say the M50Xs were the only pair of headphones that lasted me longer than a year... every other pair of headphones snapped at some point when I was cradling from shoulder to ear (yknow as DJs do)
Beyerdynamic M70 Pro is a criminally underrated XLR mic. It's $70 now (MSRP used to be $350) and easily beats +$400 mics like the SM7B.
Elgato wave mic 3 has treated me so well and it was like 150 bucks with the icing on the cake being the wavelink software.
Never bothered with Dual, only point is VR streaming
@@StreamScheme thank you much appreciated for the response.
Until I took like an hour to
Sit down to learn it. And I use it just about every stream now. Productivity and some laughs here and there.
Can you make more videos on the bridge cast x on dual pc for audio routing and headphones ?
Q2u or SeV7 are all I should have considered. That being said, I had a use case that made higher level mics worth the purchase outside of streaming.
Beautiful mic thats never done me wrong, obviously needs to be setup properly, but thats pretty easy! Hope the content is helpful
At the end of the day, its free software that is easily uninstalled if you don't like it, I did a whole video on it too
it was a resource hog on my rig, but, your mileage may vary
Totally agree! I used to rock a $4 monitor I got from the thrift store as my second monitor for the first 2 years of streaming 😂
So no Fifine AM8? 🤔
Great work.
Can't find the Thronmax s6 on Amazon
It’s linked in my kit in the description
will say the 4:37 is good advice, I only recently got one after i found one at a garage sale lol.
How did you get your chat to come up like that?🤔
When it comes to mics I've noticed everyone is blown away by the Fifine AM8.
I've had horrible luck with Elgato lights, mine are completely fried. Capture cards though have been amazing.
Didn't TC Helicon stop supporting the GOxLR?
Yes and no, it slowed down but it’s still supported just not heavily
Would you want to try the Maono microphone and mixer? Let me know if you are interested.
Soooo what if i already pulled a you long time ago ???
What a great and informative channel. Will learn a lot watching your content 😊 thanks for sharing
But from experience and talking to thousands of streamers over the years, most aren’t making it,
Love these honest reviews... about what you DON'T need as a streamer. Well done :)
i got a free sm7b and goxlr mini. true endgame and probably will never change from it given that I have spent too much time setting up my audio to "perfection." Then again it still doesnt stop me from blowing money on other interfaces and mics. why? because like everyone else here, were all addicted to it.
I’ve owned 2 and both sagged within a few weeks, other creators had the same
Issue, we noticed they’re meant to sit there, and not be used or moved around much or they give out.
I think you should make a vid on how the GOXLR is back, theyve been updating it again
They added sub mixing but honestly it doesn’t change how overpriced it is, still a major issue

@@StreamScheme overpriced? The mini is 180 now. That's all you need.
All I have is a lil cheap Webcam from amazon, greenscreen, and a Snowball I bought years ago.
The cheapest headphone you should have is the athm20x and wired ones for music
I don't have any money so not even the cheap options interest me but really nice video
And since you made that video about steelseries i've been using it and absolutely love it so thank you for that
Also if you want a cheap streamdeck, nutty made a video about turning a spare keyboard into one
I love the Bluey reference! 😊
I didn’t reference Bluey, I’m just Australian
I'm there with you with Elgato gear being over hyped inconsistent trash overall.
Bridge Cast does EVERYTHING?? really? Sound pads? Am I missing something?
Is the girl from your videos a couple months back your wife now? That's unexpected. Congratulations on the baby too. Even though it excites me when you upload a new video that takes priority. Hope your family and you have long happy wonderful lives together
Yea I would not recommend the Sonar software to anyone, it has a long ways to go with the audio routeing.....
Stream deck is top tier. Not even a streamer and it's the greatest desk accessory. Sure, the XXXXXXL version may be a bit big, but use the smaller one
