CORRECTION: At 1:03:46, we mistakenly claim that Guitar Hero charts can only be in x/4 time signatures. That is incorrect. The section of Master of Puppets we were referring is actually 5/8, but the 5/4 screenshot is from a flawed chart conversion by an old program that couldn't parse x/8 time signatures.
Still worth noting how close y'all's speculation is to home -- in a featurette on S&M (the live album with orchestral arrangements), James recalled Michael Kamen geeking out over the odd time signatures in some of their songs and all he could say was [paraphrasing] "I dunno man, we just kinda said let's chop a beat off here to make people go (flinch) what the hell?"
You fellas are my main source of news for rythm gaming! As a long time GH nerd who won a competition at Warped Tour (and also one at the mall), I get excited whenever you post a new vod!
It's actual magic hearing a developer talk about the games. It reminds me of that time You Can't Unhear This interviewed someone who worked at Harmonix, and they primarily talked about the development of The Beatles: Rock Band. I hope you guys can get more developers and other industry insiders on in the future!!
Scorehero wouldn’t have any old copies of charts cached because they weren’t hosted directly. Links were simply posted to them in people’s individual forum threads.
1:00:01 yes, I don't mind authoring lower difficulties because that means I can share the games with my friends and family. Also everyone else's friends and family too.
This was a great episode, like Chris said, I’m so happy there’s not only a guitar hero/rock band community, but legitimate creators for it. Love you guys, seriously some of my favorite content creators.
Chris was such an awesome guest to get on the podcast. We will always have to thank him for giving us that Through the Fire and Flames chart. Or blame him, I haven't decided yet.
@loreheropodcast When is Chris coming back for another ep? It was funny watching this for the first time today considering the weekend you guys just had. It’s awesome that epic did that for the lore hero’s. Lots of developments in festival since then too. Every episode is a banger you guys are killing it!
1:00:59 *That's exactly what I'm doing Chris!* As the sole charter of Chel Hero (my custom setlist), my goal is to make it full band and full difficulty! As of writing this 51 out of the 96 songs have been fully charted on guitar, bass, and drums on all 4 four difficulties! Not to mention that there's vocals too, so that's 13 unique charts in a single song. I want to make Chel Hero the first ever custom setlist that has the same production quality as the official Neversoft charts from the post-World Tour era. As of now, lightshows, cameras, animations and lip sync are still missing, but they may be added in one day. But in conclusion, I want to make my charts as finished and as accessible as possible! 4 instruments and 4 difficulties for each of them!
I'm seriously excited for the riff master to come out. My old wiitar is on its dying breaths and I've never tried a rock band guitar, so it's a 2-in-1 deal for me

58:25 I enjoy charting lower difficulties as an exercise in making them still feel like an honest representation of the song
