This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Crazy on You", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams" etc. In 2012 Ann & Nancy performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in a tribute to Led Zeppelin doing their classic song "Stairway To Heaven".
I saw them at this age growing up in Western Canada close to Seattle they were great every time I saw them 8 or so times. Great reaction again cheers 🍺
Those 'haircuts' you speak of ... came out of the 70's. All of us kids, teenagers wore that style. It was called the 'feathered look'. Basically, the bangs and hair on top were cut semi-short (not to short). The sides and back were left longer with a layered style cut. While we blow-dried our hair, we would use a round or regular style brush and brush the hair back. Simpler times ... We need to bring it back.
Out of all of the musicians, through the decades that have created good music, there’s always one here and one there that stand the test of time where every generation says wow that’s amazing, this is definitely one of them and they’ve got a few more
Takes me back 46 years, saw them in August of 1977. I highly recommend "Crazy on You" from their "Dreamboat Annie" album. There's a great live version from 1977. An yes the seventies were pretty cool.
Ann & Nancy singing "Stairway to Heaven" at the Kennedy Center Honors is one of the best tributes ever. Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, & Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin are watching from the balcony. Jason Bonham (John Bonham, Led Zeppelin drummer RIP) is playing drums to honor his Dad. Incredibly beautiful & the boys were very touched.
Heart's Little Queen album is my favorite. You need to listen to the whole album because they have Barracuda rocking out but also different songs that show great musicianship and it shows Ann's great voice in different types of song styles. Still listen to it today 47 years later. The 70's were absolutely the best decade of music along with the most variety of music. You can tell the bands by the originality of their music and vocals especially when you have never even heard the song before. A lot of people say how great the 80's were. That's because the 70's bands went on without slowing down. Had a younger friend comment on a Aerosmith song that came out 10 years into their career as an 80's song I said yeah but the band is from the 70's.
My first contact with Heart ! In 1976 this was their first hit in Germany. I bought the LP and was a little disappointed, because there wasn't any other "burner" like that on their album "Little Queen", but after listening closely, I loved the whole album. Until now I grabbed all what I can find of the band and also solo abums. I'm a huge fan of the Wilson sisters ❤️
Ann & Nancy Wilson's "idols" were Led Zeppelin. Their 70s rock was as close as you'll get to a female version of Led Zeppelin. FANTASTIC STUFF! Their 80s tunes were a little more subdued, I'm sure to "move with the times"....but, I prefer them ROCKING-OUT!!! ❤❤❤❤ This song it about a "Barracuda" (a very aggressive fish) - but, the story it about the comments the "heads" of the music industry made about the sisters. Magic Man is a great tune by them. I also think you would enjoy songs from their albums: Dog & Butterfly and BeBe Le Strange!! Great REACTION, AGAIN, YOU-TWO!!!
Nice!! - Great reaction as always, guys! - that one crazy high and loud note Anne belts out is spine-tingling! - Amazing harmony with her sister too, when they both sing! Great backstory to the track too - Moral: don't annoy the Wilson sisters!... 😆
WOW! They're incredible 🤩 Anne Wilson on vocals & her sister Nancy playing guitar.....so talented so much rock roll! Amazing music & amazing conserts.! More Heart please. Saludos desde Valencia ✌️
This Band Original got started in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. They moved into the States to get Better Exposure to the U S Recording studios. A Barracud is a fish that lives in th south India ocean as well as the Caribbean ocean. Alot of Great Canadian musicians got their start in the 1980's; without moving into the States to become World Famous
Great reaction guys, thank you. Would recommend "Magic Man" (lead vocals - Annie) and if you want to hear Nancy lead the vocals try "These Dreams" for some variety in their sound.
Like others have said, a barracuda is a fierce predatory fish, but when this song came out in the mid-seventies, people were also familiar with a US performance car called the Plymouth Barracuda so some people thought the song might be referring to that car. It isn't. The band used the barracuda fish reference to apply to a ruthless manager they had who spread false rumors about the band to try to increase public interest.
Yes, anything from their debut album, including "Hitch A Ride". "A Man I'll Never Be" from their 2nd album is great. Here's a nice fan video for that song: ua-cam.com/video/9vIL1nY3j6I/v-deo.html
This was a protest song. The "barracuda" is specifically the record label they worked with, but also, about the music industry and media more generally. At the time, their record label, promoters & media were stirring up rumors about the Wilson sisters having incestuous sexual relations with each other. The band was understandably... um... not happy about it... to say the least. This was written in the aftermath of a public exchange with a music promoter.
The 80's HEART was simply a hired studio band, with studio hired writers, and the sisters only. The 70's was the real band before they were all fired, and all the real talent.
She wrote this about a record company executive. Also, in the 70's it was exponentially more difficult as a female performer. Radio was not allowed to play many females, and you certainly would NEVER hear 2 female led songs back to back.
A barracuda is a large, predatory, ray-finned fish known for its fearsome appearance and ferocious behavior. As a man you don't want the woman you seek to view you as a barracuda.
It is so strange to hear you two never heard of Barracuda having grown up with it. Well, I'm a little older than that. 70's music . . . How about something whimsical? 'Jeremiah was a Bullfrog' from 3 Dog Night? My favorite Heart song? These Dreams but I think that more in the 80's.
Don't piss Ann Wilson off! She wrote this song in response to a sleazy record promoter's comment, in which it was implied that her and Nancy were involved in a lesbian relationship.
Great reaction, per usual ! (not everything can be your cup of tea as they say) Never get all these comments about their favorite decade of music. Literally every decade was brilliant (a handful of people hate the 80s but it was the start of metal for example, others hate the 50s (but love rock in the 70s, literally copied from the 50s (which copied the blues from the 20s and so on). It's all absurd. At every single moment in time there are literally millions making brilliant songs (probably since the day of the Neanderthal and way beyond) (in stark contrast to the movie -industry were we can scientifically pinpoint that (almost) everything before the 2010-ish was better than the constant stream of garbage and crap we now get served on our plates). Music is literally indestructible. When AI has replaced Hollywood (not much of a difference to be honest) we will still be making fantastic music. Music is keeping the bad Martians away.
A rock critic who intimated that the Wilson SISTERS were lesbian lovers was the inspiration for this song. They were pissed off and came up with this song, after stealing the hook from the band Nazareth.
I don't always listen to Barracuda, but when I do, so do all the neighbors.
Good one !
Yasssss!
Them girls never did sleep with the record execs, so they put the album out on thier own and u see 40 yrs later people still enjoy it
I was blessed to have been a teenager in the 70’s and nobody can ever take that away from me.
This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. 70's no autotune, no gimmicks. Just musicians with passion. Wasnt about pretty face until mtv showed up. Though Ann and Nancy are pretty
YOU'RE CORRECT! HANDS DOWN, 70'S WAS THE BEST!
The best female rock vocalist in my opinion.
80's was just a ton of fun; but 70's was the greatest decade of music there's ever been!
Ahh yes! Love 70's Heart much harder than 80's Heart just a suggestion........." Crazy on you" is one both of you would dig ✌️
60's and 70's outstanding in music!
The 70's were the best for every genre!!! Rock, Disco, Funk, all of it!!
Yes….. 70’s was the era ! So many different genre’s all at the same time. Wish I could go back and relive again 🔥❤️🎸🤗🙏🏻
Love Heart❤
Ann and Nancy Wilson are Rock legends.
The 70's had the best rock! Lucky to have grown up and enjoyed the music of the 70's and 80's. Class of 85. 😁
Let me just say, I LOVE YOU TWO!
You have to see their Stairway to Heaven version. Led Zeppelin Tribute at the Kennedy Center❤ Magic
Best tribute ever!!!
@@tonyh6640 absolutly also to see Led Zeppelin and their reaction - goosebumps

I totally get what you're saying about it making you feel like you're on a horse, galloping along. I always called this their "giddyup" song. :)
This band rocks. Great discography ❤❤❤

“Little Queen” has a Metallica-esque breakdown in it that’s so cool. It’s a hidden gem everyone is missing out on.
My first contact with Heart !

Them discussing who has the better taste in music 🤣🤣🤣 I love y'all
Gretchen Wilson plays this song in concert sometimes too

“You shaved my head.” 😆
Heart was the supporting band for Rush. What a show!
We can get into a song based upon the energy and music by itself. Words communicate, but so do the instruments and arrangement.
I saw heart three times in my life. The seventies the 80s the😊 90s❤❤❤ her voice was so sharp and clear. Next step. Ella Fitzgerald😮😮😮😮😊
WOW! They're incredible 🤩
Anne Wilson on vocals & her sister Nancy playing guitar.....so talented so much rock roll! Amazing music & amazing conserts.!

1970s Rock-n-Roll.
Good one. Rock on.
They don't make music like that any more badass 70s and 80s is the best music keep rocking
Heart "Dog & Butterfly"
This music is timeless! Great choice! Love your channel!
Ann Wilson is the singer and Nancy is the guitarist

"Crazy On You" or " Magic Man" should be next songs from "HEART" both out of the 1970s...
Magic Man should be the next song. Love your reviews. Keep them coming, you all are awesome.
Great reaction guys, thank you.
Would recommend "Magic Man" (lead vocals - Annie) and if you want to hear Nancy lead the vocals try "These Dreams" for some variety in their sound.
Rule #1, The wife is Always Right. Rule #2, if wife is wrong, see rule #1. Just teasing, great reaction, Great song & Band.
Its astonishing as to how much Rock n Roll talent has come from Seattle: Heart, Hendrix, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana and more....

you know? After Elvis Presley died his inertia😮 went only so long😊❤

The Romantics "What I Like About You" (Put on your seatbelts for this one.)
The 80's HEART was simply a hired studio band, with studio hired writers, and the sisters only. The 70's was the real band before they were all fired, and all the real talent.
Calling someone a Barracuda means he's "greedy and treacherous".
Exactly! A predator!
Well said ✌️
This song is a slap in the face to all the sleazy record execs that told them they wouldn't put this record out unless the girls slept with them
3 big BIG songs from this era. Dream on by Aerosmith. Stairway to heaven by Led Zeppelin (of course) and freebird by Lynard Skynard. Enjoy
She wrote this about a record company executive. Also, in the 70's it was exponentially more difficult as a female performer. Radio was not allowed to play many females, and you certainly would NEVER hear 2 female led songs back to back.
The song is about an ex manager...and the rumours that they are lesbians.
Agree with Dominica - 1970's is best;) This was my favorite album 'Little Queen', I bought back then & it still is displayed in my living room!
A barracuda is a large, predatory, ray-finned fish known for its fearsome appearance and ferocious behavior. As a man you don't want the woman you seek to view you as a barracuda.
They wrote the song about a record co.said they were lovers but were sisters so it pissed them off so she wrote the song

Barracuda are a rather large, and intimidating, predator fish!
Barracuda is a predator fish. The song was written in retaliation to someone from their record label starting a nasty rumor.
If you like this then you must hear "Black Betty" by RamJam. 👍
Yes, A barracuda is a predator fish with teeth, or it could be the name of a car.
Can I suggest more "Classic Rock" bands: Boston, STYX, Foreigner, Bad Company, and The Who.
Great reaction, per usual ! (not everything can be your cup of tea as they say)

Bonanza riff
Have u 2 been to American rock concerts?
A rock critic who intimated that the Wilson SISTERS were lesbian lovers was the inspiration for this song. They were pissed off and came up with this song, after stealing the hook from the band Nazareth.
1970s are better because it's all instruments and real talent
70’s are WAY better in music than the 80’s. Cocaine ruined music that whole decade.
Barracuda is a fish with big teeth.
The queens of Seattle 🖤 They're from my home and i couldn't be prouder. Seattle was and is the best of the best in musicians 🖤
A great feminist song - way ahead of its time. She was metoo way before there was metoo
