#Heart #NancyWilson #AnnWilson
Fun Fact: Ann & Nancy Wilson are sisters, they wrote this song as an angry response to their record label spreading false scandalous rumors about them, saying that Ann & Nancy were secretly lovers (which obviously wasn't true) just as a marketing ploy to increase album sales. This made the sisters so mad that they wrote this song to tell off, rebuke & reprimand these record label agents, calling them "barracudas" (a predator fish known for their deliberately cruel temperament & vicious behavior).
That just made this song so much better!
Ann Wilson doesn't take shit from anybody. This song is metal af
Absolutely right. Heard Ann talk about it in an interview. And hence lyrics such as this:
No right, no wrong you're selling a song, a name
Whisper game
And if the real thing don't do the trick
You better make up something quick
I have so crushed on these two power musicians (in a healthy way) for the last 47 years or so.
Ann & Nancy ft. Linkin Park have muss to See. Performing Castle of Glass. It is Magic
its a fuqed up fact, mushroom records did'nt last long after that
Ann Wilson is simply one of the greatest female rock voices ever. You called it, GOLD!!
Greatest rock voices, period.
@@lucash8234 Exactly.
I wanted to say that as well; no need to add "female" to that statement. Ann Wilson is one of the greatest to ever do it, male or female.
@@llongone2 Can't disagree with ya there!
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST opening guitar riff EVER!
Ann and Nancy! STILL rockin' it today!! 70s forever!!
A barracuda is a predatory saltwater fish that stalks rather than hunts. They're incredibly fast, powerful and nasty fighters. Ann and Nancy Wilson wrote this song about one of their promoters that wanted to portray them as incestuous polyamorous lesbians, to basically refer to the promoter as a nasty, slimy, stalking predator.
Also, Sisters harmonizing. No autotune, just incredible talent and Ann Wilson is still killing it in her 70s, she recently covered Layne Staley’s vocals on "Rooster" with Alice In Chains.
Heart is incredible and can just rock out and turn around and do a mellow song they are an amazing band!! 🎸🥰
And is featured on Disturbed's Don't Tell Me. Kills it
They did the same thing to Tegan and Sara many years later. Canada has weird shit going on involving young women dude
thank you for copying and pasting
Also an awesome car in the 70's too
These two women were meant to be super stars. Anns voice gives me goosebumps. These two women together were lethal. ❤
Heart is one of the best things to ever come out of Seattle. Thanks for sharing this one! 🙂
BTW. Heart is currently on tour. Hearing them live is an amazing experience
One of my favorite experiences. I was floored by them in like 2007.
They were one of the bands at my first concert: Cal Jam 2 - Mar. 1978. I was 15yrs9mos and was there for about 27 hours. My brother disappeared around noon and I had to hitch-hike home to San Berdoo after 1am; whenever Aerosmith finished. I stood at the tunnel going underneath the track and shouted "anyone going to San Berdoo?" Only had to do that twice and got a response. Luckily, it turned out they lived just a few blocks from me. Oh, and my older brother spent the day in the medical tent. He went to get us something to drink before Santana took the stage and he had an asthma attack when attempting to return to where I was; for people crowding to get closer to the stage. Eventually, they got him an ambulance to get him to a hospital. My mom got a call regarding him, but then learned I was at the concert alone. Good Times
We slept in our bug on the freeway the night before! Still have my ticket stub… $12.50 what a day.
Magic man, straight on and Crazy on You (studio version) are powerful examples of how badass they are. Keep ‘em coming lady! ❤️🔥🤘🏾
Crazy on you Midnight Special 1977 or 1978 live with the latex/vinyl pants.
Crazy on you fantastic
The Midnight Special live version from 1977 is epic ua-cam.com/video/XKJbyK4NTek/v-deo.html
Ann is the only human that can sing crazy on you nobody else is capable
Ann and Nancy Wilson are just incredible. The very definition of "Girl Boss". ❤
Watching Heart from five feet away from the stage is an incredible experience. That's what I was blessed with as a high school kid in 1975 or '76. Back then, Nancy wasn't as prominent as she would become and Ann played flute as well as her amazing vocals. ♥
Heart is going on tour this summer. Ann Wilson just did a song with the band Disturbed
Best female rock voice/singer to ever grace us. True Rock goddess.
Ann Wilson's singing gives me goosebumps, which is a rare for me when it comes to singers.
That instantly-recognizable guitar riff, always gets my pulse racing, and sets up Ann's power vocals perfectly!
Heart is the best! You'd love their song "magic man" ❤
Totally!
Every parent’s worse nightmare
@@KC-bv9kfwhat is every parents worse nightmare?
My friend Alyssa so long ago said that she shared music with strangers because it made everyone feel less alone. We used to hang out in a crappy little karaoke bar on the wrong side of nowhere. But music made the difference. I'll never forget her kindness and I revisit that with these videos. I may never know you in person, but I share a joy with you. And I thank you.
I love Nancy and Ann Wilson's guitar playing and singing. Heart is f-cking great at every turn.
If you want to see Nancy in action, find the live cut of "Crazy on You" and make sure you get the long version with the full guitar intro. You get to see Nancy shred the acoustic with an awesome guitar solo intro and then, of course, you get the full song "Crazy on you" following... definitely a great way to see Nancy in command...
I was a six year old boy in 1979 when my older brother introduced me to Heart, and my life was forever changed. I fell in love with her just from hearing her voice. To this day, she is a goddess and force of nature who who put her boot straight through the door for all female rock and metal vocalists who followed her. I feel her voice in my soul. It was great seeing you feel it as well. Thanks for this.
Heart isn't only a great band by itself. They are also the greatest Led Zep cover band ever.
Hi Aileen, great to be a new subscriber to your channel. Yeah, these Wilson sisters were and still are bad ass. I was a senior in high school when this song came out and I had just bought a 1969 Barracuda. I heard this song when I was leaving school driving to Connecticut to work. WTF, when I heard this song the first time. I locked the brakes up and skidded off the road before I ended up killing myself in that car. I shut it down and just listened. Oh my God how crazy is this. I was always a huge Heart fan. Anne stuttered when she was growing up as an Army brat.Their dad was very musically inclined and music was a centerpiece in their lives growing up. When their boyfriends were drafted to go the Vietnam War they left Seattle and moved to Vancouver to avoid going to Vietnam. Nancy was first to join a band with the Fisher boys. That's when Anne came aboard and the rest is history. Anne wrote this song in about 15 minutes after some record producer from Mushroom records claimed that Anne and Nancy were having a incestuous relationship. She was pissed. That's when she went back to the hotel room and wrote this song. Barracuda are notorious for being ambush predators and they strike very hard and fast. That's what Anne likened the record company to. A freaking nasty bunch of predatory people. Got my attention and those girls always will.
The Female Monsters of Rock! The two wemon have always been a driving force in Rock n Roll! Luv Anne's Powerful voice and Nancy is the boss on the guitar!! 🎸 Thanks for sharing Aileen ❤️💛
This was one of the hardest rocking songs of my teenage years. Heart was a staple of the charts and delivered song after inspiring song for years. Great musicians. Nice reaction, Senpai!
Funny you should mention Ann's confidence on stage. She's suffered from near crippling stage fright most of her life. She's done a great job managing it. Having Nancy there to check in with and help keep her from spiraling has been key
Before you are finished with the music of Heart you must check out their cover of Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore"! You will see a side of Ann and Nancy that you rarely see anywhere else!!
Simply a legendary hard rock track. Ann has the whole arsenal. Feminine, tough, and always authentic.
Damn right. I am a sucker for bad ass women in rock and metal bands and Ann Wilson is the reason why. She set a standard for me
Had front row seats and saw them in concert what a great performance
2 things ive learned about you since I found your channel a couple of days ago 1) When you give the stank face, you're REALLY feeling the vocals. 2) You LOVE LOVE LOVE a dope bass line! haha Im here for all of it.
You're makin' awesome material here. Keep it up
Michael Derosier killing those drums. BANGER!! Seeing them again next month.
"Little Queen" album is fantastic to listen to late at night and chill.
I listened to it allot in the 70s. Whole album is top notch
Great to see your smiling face again. Dunno if you have reacted to Kennedy honors ..Heat covering Led Zepplins Stairway to heaven...really good...BTW ANN is in her 60s covering this and bring tears to the bands eyes.
Check out "Alone" if you haven't already. One of Anne's most powerful vocals.
Yes it was..
Heart is the best female rock band in the world.
I appreciate your love of Heart. When I was in the Marines the sisters and their band were always wanted.
That was in the 70s with the grunts and we loved pure talent and beauty.
Thanks for the memories.
Semper Fi from the old days and your response is perfect.
Thank you.
One of the greatest rock vocalists ever.
If you want to hear Nancy's beautiful voice, listen to These Dreams. Ann is without a doubt one of the greatest voices in Rock history
Also, when they cover Led Zepplin’s “Battle of Evermore”
It’s weird. Nancy sings and plays mandolin. Ann sings and plays guitar. I really like it.
Yeah, Nancy Wilson was also sick during the recording for ‘These Dreams’, which gave her voice that raspy / gravelly sound that’s different from her normal vocals.
Side note: Originally, Stevie Nicks was offered ‘These Dreams’ but expressed that she wasn’t interested in recording it.
the wilson sisters are so phenomenal. the song is iconic. so is their "alone", the great floor jansen coverd that one. the wilsons paved the way for women in rock. speaking of female power in rock/metal: if you ever decide to react to these phenomenal fantastic all female metal bands from japan, I´d suggest "lovebites - holy war live" and "hanabie - we love sweets". thank you for your great genuine reactions.
Ann could sing the phone book. What a powerhouse
I’ve been a fan of Heart my whole life and it’s great to see people discover and enjoy their music. But…. nobody seems to find “Tell it like it Is”. Check out the studio version for the most impressive vocals from Ann in any song. “Tell it like it Is” - it is jaw dropping!
So many Great songs
Bebe La Strange , Straight on , Magic Man . Alone + These Dreams (80's)
You say you're obsessed. I'm thinking, "YES!! That's it exactly! That voice, that voice... Damn!" I've always loved that powerful voice of hers. & the rest of the music is great, too!
I was lucky enough to see them in concert about twenty years agoin sw Washington & loved 'em.
Heart are timeless. One of the great seattle bands.
Yet another fine reaction. You might want to listen to "Don't Tell Me," a duet with Ann Wilson and David Draiman of Disturbed. At 73 years old, she may not have the register she had on earlier hits but her voice still cuts through beautifully.
"Dog And Butterfly" and "Dreamboat Annie" are on the lighter side of Heart but well worth a listen.
100%
Funny how you talk about her confidence on stage, because even though she puts out the vibe that she is confident, Ann actually at times suffered from crippling stage fright. Nancy has talked about times where she had to walk up to Ann and get practically nose to nose with her to snap her out of it mid-concert. I guess she learned to recognize the signs so she could snap Ann out of it before it became obvious to the audience.
I just found out about you because I love watching videos of younger generation (whose lives have been shaped by the deterioration of music for last 15 years or so ) listening to classics of the past and loving the discoveries of 60s,70s, 80s, etc.etc. that laid the groundwork WITHOUT the technology of today. You're really sold on Ann Wilson but one of Heart's biggest hits was with Nancy Wilson singing lead (and she had sore throat when recording the hit ) on "These Dreams" . You don't have to have 1st reaction video to it , but at least maybe listen to it just before bedding down for the night , because it will treat you to a song you never thought Heart could capture you with , but will.
The golden era of hard rock. Thank you ❤
The Wilson Sisters = 🔥🔥🌹🌹
ICONS, goosebumps every time
They always have managed to transform their music through the decades and stay true. They've never lost their identity and stayed nevertheless successful.
Great band ❤️
Decades, bro...not centuries. They aint that old!
FYI - Heart will be on tour in the USA in April to May 2024... it will be Ann Wilson & Nancy Wilson only from the original band w/ session players.
My fav Heart song. The distinct singing and the instrumentals if fabulous. Your spot on reaction is perfectly detailed. Thank you.
I agree that "Magic Man," if you've not done it before, should be next. Other songs might be "Dog and Butterfly," "Alone" (to throw a power ballad in), and maybe "Straight On."
have you seen their tribiute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors? Ann was, i believe, 61 at the time and killed it!
I saw them 47 years ago on their "Little Queen" tour. It was August 16th 1977, the day Elvis died. We found out while waiting outside to go in the arena. Somebody had transistor radio, pre internet days.
To close out their set they did Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" and dedicated it to the King.
Another great song from that night is "Crazy on You", with Nancy's amazing guitar intro, here's one from around the same time.

Glad you're back! Great enthusiasm & reaction.
Love your energy and your passion doing your reviews.
Check out Ann Wilson ( the brunette ) with Disturbed and their song "Don't Tell Me". Interesting duet.
You should react to the cover of this from the band PLUSH! I saw them in Kansas City with falling in reverse and disturbed and they were awesome and executed this song to perfection 🤘🔥❤️
The Wilson sisters was my first love, lol. I had heard Alice Cooper (live) and heard some Jethro Tull by the time I was 4 or 5. After that it was these ladies & KISS. Until Van Halen changed the game with Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd was about all I had heard by 10 or 11. I didn't really get into Zeppelin until college, but I sure found why I loved Heart so much after that. They had their MTV poppy era, but they were always fantastic. Today I enjoy an eclectic music collection and love for great music thanks to these two ladies right here. Rush really helped and Pink Floyd after that. I lived through the "golden age" of music IMO. Journey, The Police, ZZ Top, Yes, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Missing Persons, Billy Squier, Skid Row, Guns & Roses, CheVelle, The Cult, The Eagles, The Cure, Metallica all and many more I got to see live & in their prime.
Heart and Foreigner were two 70's bands that translated really well over to the 80's because both bands 80's tunes were certified bangers
This is the original studio version audio synched up to random video footage.
When I was a kid we were in downtown Vancouver Washington when we heard a band playing. All of the sudden this unreal voice belted out and all of us just looked at each other wondering who that was behind the mike!! Found out later is was Ann Wilson singing at the caboose restaurant in the mid 1970's
Welcome back! So wonderful to see your beautiful self back making reactions. You have no idea how much your vulnerability and musical knowledge fills my loving cup and makes my soul happy!
Here on UA-cam their is a reviewer that goes by The Charismatic Voice she's an opera singer and voice coach who mentions how much control Ann has. Ann has/d a sweet higher voice but uses her diaphram as a resonance chamber then listening and analizing her consenant and vowel sentence structure with her control of her throat and tongue she not only controls her pitch she can belt out without have to scream using mostly her throat. And she might have something .I've seen Heart in concert and Ann kept her strength and range from start to finish where when I saw Aerosmith in concert Steven Tyler was pretty raspy towards the end.
She made Robert Plant cry with their rendition of Stairway to Heaven.
That's not quite true. Robert Plant stated that the tears he had were from watching Jason Bonham drum. Robert and John Bonham were best friends, and the bowler hats worn were a tribute to Bonzo, coz he always wore hats. Yes it is,a stirring performance, but the emotions of missing John and seeing Jason perform his father's drumming is what brought those tears. This us what Plant himself is quoted as saying on many platforms
@@kenkonwick6660that moment doesn't happen if the performance wasn't what it was. both things can be true.
Oh for sure but he sees Jason Bonham drum regularly. No other band could have done that song with Jason besides the Zep and Robert Plant be moved to that extent. The band doesn't even LIKE the song Stairway to Heaven. Page was absolutely rocking out and you could even see him say "Wow" after singing the notes to himself during the solo because it was NAILED
But yes, Plant was absolutely thinking about Bonham, you could see it the entire time Jason was on stage. The old dude was time travelling
@@neilpatrickhairless also, Zeppelin asked Jason to attend the gala, but Jason told them he had a prior commitment. They had no idea he was gonna perform
I've been loving Ann Wilson since 1970s - she's recently climbed up my greatest rock singers of all time list - to sharing my number one spot with Robert Plant! If I broaden that category to pop music of the last 100 years - she's in my top five for sure - but, I put another woman ahead of her: check out the amazing Ella Fitzgerald, who is currently my favorite singer of all time in any genre.
I remember this song when I was 13 years old. Her vocals are just awesome
You know I had to drop a like and a comment on this one in particular (name not related though 🤣 ). (NOT SO) FUN FACT: this song was originally written in anger about a sleazeball at the record label that started a fake salacious rumor about Ann and her sister Nancy, which was subsequently hinted at by a sleazeball promoter during an interview. This song is about the frustration and anger at the whole situation, but over time grew to be an anthem against sleazeballs in general.
Seeing them in September in Salt Lake with Cheap Trick.
honestly her little dances and stoicness blow my mind
Ann and Nancy Wilson were/are and will always be an unstoppable rock and roll force of nature.
How have you never heard this before? It's legendary! 73 and 70 and still rocking out! That was top of the pops and the show forced them to lip-sync just like they did queen. Nancy doesnt get enough credit. Her guitar playing is out of this world and her voice is just as good as Anne's! My husband was in a band and they played this song a lot and it's very hard to play and sing.
I agree. Nancy doesn't get enough credit when her talent is just crazy. She sings some of their songs and flawlessly. Yah Top of the pops was a big thing back then and Freddy Mercury was ANGRY that they made them lip-sync
Ann Wilson is hands down the best female rock voice of all time. Heart is amazing live, too. If you ever get the chance to see them live, do it. I saw them live in 2017, I believe, and she sounded just as incredible live as a woman in her late 60s (67) at that time as she sounded in her 30s. Absolutely incredible.
You MUST check out their song "Straight On" i promise you'll LOVE it
Ann Wilson has an unbelievable voice!! 1 of a kind for sure!!
Saw Heart in 1976 at Ohio State, with my brother. Front row center stage. $8.00. Wow.
Ann Wilson is outstanding and they did 2 encores. Love this group
Ann and Nancy both are rock goddesses. Both are powerful singers and instrument players.
Good morning A.....thanks for the review!!❤❤❤
I love seeing how excited you got by this song! This song is AMAZING!
Love this song Ann Wilson is a incredible performer Crazy on You is another one that I like but my all time favorite is Magic Man the guitar work in that song is awesome her sister is equally talented as well
Sanpi seeing you smiling and doing all those face impressions are like suger for my tea it's like the shine of my life
We are so happy for all of those videos you make
It makes us happy to see you doing your amazing things
🌻
One of my favs
This just seems so alien to any sort of female led bands / acts today. Everythings either super screamy / orchestral or just poppy. Where are the great female vocalists in hard rock ?
❤❤ your passion in this video is so awesome 💯 love it .. such a great band reviewed by a great person 👍
You're the best Aileen! If ya'll ain't coming to her Twitch streams you are really missing out.
Love ya, Jordan ❤️❤️
Got to see them in concert. They put on a great show and sound. 🤘 keep on rocking. Dig your reactions.
50 years and Still Rockin
August 1st 2024...Heart, right here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I got my tickets IMMEDIATELY! Looking forward to that show, Cheap Trick will be opening up. Ann recently did a duet with David Draiman(Disturbed) "Don't Tell Me". GREAT song. At 73 years old(she'll be 74 by the time I see the show), she's still got the pipes! 🤘🤘🤘
The sisters are just stunning . . .
These ladies are still out there kicking a** - they're doing a festival this summer sandwiched between Mr. Bungle and Tool! 😂 Everybody will have their suggestions, but I will always advocate for the stuff more off the beaten path-try "Mistral Wind" live from the Greatest Hits/Live album (the one with Ann wearing a striped jacket on the cover) "Bad Animals" "The Night", "Black On Black II" and their song with Layne Staley "Ring Them Bells".
Baaarrrraaacuuuuuddaaaaa *funky riffs* What a great/fun song and reaction to end the week back on 😭❤️
Great rock song. Excellent choice to react to, with a cool reaction. As always love your thoughts and those raven locks. Nice top btw. Peace and love, Aileen. Keep-a-rockin. Shoutout from the mountains of East Tennessee. See you on the next. Later.
I saw these lovely ladies in concert in 1982 (I was 20 at the time). I managed to squeeze myself up to the front of the stage, was only 10 feet from them (back then you could get really close) and on the side of the stage where Nancy was. I'm 6'2" so I was a bit more noticeable in the crowd. While Nancy was playing I managed to wave at her....she smiled and kissed at me! I've been in love with her ever since. Just don't tell my wife. LOL!!
*Straight On* has one of the most powerful vocal starts I’ve ever heard. Also their version of *Tell It Like It Is* is top notch stuff
Whoa, I'm looking at the LP cover of the LP this song was on "Little Queen"..And doggone, I see at least 5 of 'em wearing the same outfits as the photo shot! 6:31-Boy that drummer had a big sound..Note he's got a kettle drum as a lead tom to kick of his fills with. Still an azz-kicker of a song today, I knew you'd enjoy it!
Ann still has an amazing voice. She currently did a duet with David Draiman and Disturbed "don't tell me" a real banger!!
A kiwi band called Devilskin have just released a cover of Barracuda and its really good. Jennie Skulander is the singer and her voice is wicked good.
They’re all legends, Ann is somehow even beyond that
