      Here’s a quick note. On the internet, Vietnamese language tends to be more casual, plus most people use avatar so you can’t really know their gender and age. That’s why natives use the pair of pronoun “mình-bạn” (I-you) when talking online. I will talk about it more in my next video. Thanks for your support!

    3:52 it's not always true. My mother is older than my father but she doesn't call herself "em"

    And I thought Mandarin Chinese was difficult... yikes. Wonderful lesson, by the way. Teacher is A+++ ... for Westerner, just wrapping the brain around pronoun usage will seem maddeningly complicated.

    What does it mean when someone addresses me as l in Vietnamese if someone calls me cũng ? A new one for me.

      hi, not sure the literal translation but it's usually how older people talk to a little kid or someone they care about? im viet-american so not sure if im giving the best translation haha hope that makes sense

      It’s just how an older person addresses a younger person usually around 20
