3 words: Chops. For. Days.🤯
Props to the sound engineer. Sounds amazing.
Agreed, sounded dope! Probably helps to have all the best sweet water mics and gear at your disposal lol.
@@RockOn78 just a little. 🤣
That ain’t no battle, that’s a superhero tag team!! 🤣
2 insanely humble and talented drummers, it's perfect
Not really a battle though. More like a conversation, maybe friendly debate. About what toppings go best with pizza.
LOVE These 2 musicians.
Great sounding kits, brilliantly mic'd and ...well, then there's the playing ....Wunderbar !!!
Nick D’Virgilio is underrated... check out his work on Big Big Train and Frost*... not to mention the almighty Beard.
Just a good ol' jam sesh between two gentlemen of percussive culture. Nice sounds fellow percussionists
It makes me happy to see people doing what they love
Love Ray. He was a great open counselor at MI back in the early 90’s. He was in a great VH tribute or some tribute band. The band dressed up. Gigs in the Valley. Ray is a monster.
he also played with david lee roth himself lol
Loved ray with army of anyone!
Does anyone remember Army of Anyone? That was a wicked band
Freakin awesome! Love these to selfless drummers- you guyz rock
Both kits sound absolutely beautiful!!
Nick's work on Spock's Beard is legendary.
Oh my goodness! The exchange is more than awesome!
Thank you, Sweetwater. A great presentation from two inspirational musicians. Ray has always come across as very genuine and down to Earth. He’s a fantastic ambassador for Pearl drums and a gun player.
Of course, Nick is much the same. Such an all round musician. Genuine and great to watch in his presentation.
Thanks guys!
Nasty!!!! That wasn't a battle. That was a Patti Labelle and Michael Mcdonald duet team work!!!
Amazing drum sets and amazing players. Sweetwater music got my respect. Greetings from northern Alberta Canada. The kick drums and toms sound more like God having conversation with high ranking Angels. The audio engineer deserves much respect.
Nick “excuse me while I put on my stank face”.
Good clean fun. Awesome
The level of drumming chops and musicality in this room is off the charts. Two of the absolute best.
🙌🙌
Nick your double stroke is so clean!! The control you have over the dynamics is so top level!! It’s so difficult to play a double stroke, clean at any tempo, as a fill and not speed up!! Ray is equally impressive and y’all complemented one another beautifully!! 👍✌️💪😁🤘
Thanks for the video Nick. You two are really inspirational, you are fantastic drummers. I know no other drummer who plays so well looking happy and relaxed, like you.
Ray, you such a humble and genuine ou, appreciate and respect your drumming even more brother. Stay safe
A great example of a player who's lightened up for longevity is Steve Smith. You can see how he's gone from a haughtiness to a more relaxed, loose grip style that doesn't require constant bludgeoning.
Steve Smith is a drum treasure. I will say though that his powerful earlier Journey style is better for that band than the later jazz style. That's my opinion. Don't be a tortilla...
@@citydrums7525 I will say that I agree 100%. I loved his earlier style.
You guys are both amazing. I like when the camera shows foot-shots. I like to see how you guys manage those super fast kick drum beats
This is the difference between an average drummer and excellence. These guys are excellent as I'm sure we can all agree, as at no point did they overplay their parts during this song. Knowing when not to play is key to a solid musical career. Look, listen, learn people follow in their and my foot steps and all will be okay
So glad I stumbled on this channel as of late. Can't believe I hadn't subscribed sooner! So much great content.
Awesome man 2 of my very favourite drummers good to see both together,, Ray I saw you at the drum off a couple years back men your mind blowing dude !!!!
RAY is such a BEAST! He has easily become one of my favorite drummers! Dude just has a great feel and relationship with the kit. Nick is a beast also! This was an awesome video here!
Humble professionals the both of them! Thanks Ray and Nick and sweet water. I bet Ray is stir crazy being home off tour for so long. I bet his wife is ready for him to be back on the road some. 😂
Love this! Love to see Ray & David play together... Maybe in the future to come. To have all 6+ David on stage.. that will be Epic!
Awesome two my favorite drummers at the same time
Can't say I've got video or anything but I have played 2 songs with my band members at the Sweetwater inside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while we were taking a tour. Played some Judas Priest and AC/DC
Excellent drummers both CHEERS guys!
Sound is absolutely amazing 👍
That was amazing. Big fans of both guys
Great drumming ,Love these Video's Nick
This is awesome.
Thanks to Nick and Ray 🤘
Ha this is cool! You guys have some good groove going on!
Two amazing drummers! Thank you!
👍🥁🥁
Cool video. I would venture to say most casual Sweetwater observers don't realize how legendary Nick is. Takes me back to the drum battles with NDV and Jimmy Kegan during Spocks Beard.
Nick is an absolute master. From Kevin Gilbert to Spock's Beard and Big Big Train, to name just his main gigs.
Nick D'Virgilio and Jimmy Keegan are absolute legends, I adore both of their styles in Spock's Beard!
That sounds so good.
Love both of these Drummers.. The'yre both power houses... I met Nick D'Virgilio recently.. Super cool cat!...

I have the original presidant. A roommate gave it to me when he moved out and I love it
Checkout the live video for Spock's Beard's The Edge of the In Between and watch Nick go from instrument to instrument. So good!
Thanks for the tip, I had never seen that vid and, shame on me, I had forgotten how good that album SP was!

Ray is such a beast
SO GOOD!!! hugs from Portugal!!!! cheers!!!!
Boa noite! I had a great time visiting Coimbra a few years ago. I hope to visit again soon. Portugal is an amazing country.
@@DaveMcCall coimbra is awesome :) if you ever come back to Portugal again you must go to Sintra , cheers!
That orange amp is keeping everything under control.
Love that maple/gum
Both great drummer's
Kind of crazy to think but Korn has played with some of the most influential and gifted drummers of the last 25+ years like David Silveria (awesome groove and violent jazz style, powerful), Mike Bordin (talent drummer with great groove), Terry Bozzio (need I say more?!; check out ‘I Will Protect You’; 🤯), Joey Jordinsson (crazy energy, speed and fill monster), and now Ray Luzier (technical master, timing and creative monster). As Ray said, Korn’s style is much more difficult than most people realize. For example, Joey played all of their song quite quickly and didn’t seem to have the rhythm quite down when he filled in. RIP Joey btw.
5:46 "I don't wanna have carpel tunnel when I was 25"
Thats the age I got RSI. In right arm then left arm.
Awesome guys! 🤘🥁🤘DC
Awesome. So much respect for this dude. A complete drummer.

Absolutely loved that
YO, does this channel do more of these types of videos? so cool
Amazing drumming!
😁🤘
Gorgeous!
My teeth hurt from all the tasty licks. Such talent
Ray is awesome
His sweetwater videos make me spend lots of money
Nick, I just read your story about “No Bass Drum” with TFF. What a nightmare! Glad you got through it, well done! Also didn’t know you played in Spock’s Beard. How rad! Great video with Ray. Love you guys, rock on!
He’s one of the founding members of Spock’s and spent ten years singing lead and playing guitar along with drums for them for about ten years. 😂😊
Really like Ray since he played for The Nixons and Army of Anyone
Awesome 😎 👏 !!!!!!
Great vid. I’m still staying with my Tama and DW, but great players both. Sweetwater rocks🍻.
Amazing!
This video makes me feel like I need to get on my set some more
😎🤘
That was bad ass.
What you do not see in the video is the invisible mind link. They became one being. I could watch all day
I like this type of battle where the winner is us
Epic moment!
AMAZING !!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Now I want to see Nick play with Korn!
Love it!
Love Drum
Whoever the corn guy is, loses,...
because corn.
Im pretty chilled rock groove drummer ..but loved Jazz ...in 20;s they did over the top stuff ,,thrash just took it one up level, which in jazz was years back was to fast for many ...thrash started new feel ..Its Jazz on speed and still rock n roll ..fine by me,
Getting real is always useful
D’Virgilio for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ray is rad as well, very cool video!!!!
Thanks, Brian! 🤘
Very good advice.....learn all genres of music
Nick's kit is sooooo pretty, oh maaaan.
Just Awesome
🔥🔥🔥
That would be an honor, to play with him. You are so lucky.
That honor can go both ways. Not just for Nick.
@@the_minimalistic_adventure very true.
cool stuff
Would love to see Luzier vs Silveria
YES, this is what America needed!!!
Man I love it! Was just down there too. I didn't get any invite to jam?!!
Next time, buddy... 😎👍🥁
