Each cell in battery of laptop is 3.7 volt and more than 2000 mAh. Since your laptop battery is 4000 mAh each cell is of 2000 mAh and 3.7 v. Laptop battery have 6 cells.2 sets of 3 cells connected in series and then in parallel.Laptop battery is 11.1 v and 4000mAh. My laptop's battery is 4500 mAh . So my each cell is of 2250 mAh.
