    It is completely reasonable to expect teenagers to weigh 250 at 5’8 lean. This is definitely not a symptom of rampant body dysmorphia and easy access to PEDs and other illicit substances. Certainly not.

  • @MarioTomicOfficial
    @MarioTomicOfficial 2 роки тому +335

    More content about these substances could definitely be increasing their use. Availability bias and herd mentality are a real thing. If young teens see more content about this, it in part normalizes taking PEDs and gives the illusion that "everyone is on it anyway..." so it becomes easier to justify crossing the line. And if they cross that line once, it will be easier to rationalize it again when increasing the dosage. Plus, the recommendation algorithms on these platforms pigeonhole you based on what you watched the most, so you quickly end up in an echo chamber alternate reality where it's completely normal to be on a bunch of PEDs.

    Noel is an interesting figure. He's overwhelmingly liked, and it's easy to see why. All his videos are positive. He doesn't name drop or start drama. He seems like a genuine, nice person. And he mostly gets a pass for being enhanced because a) he's honest about it, and b) he discourages young people from taking PEDs
    BUT...he has a large *young* audience, seems to make videos largely for younger people, and the result is a lot of young lifters idolizing someone who is enhanced. Noel isn't doing anything intrinsically wrong, but just his existence: being a huge, enhanced role model for impressionable young people, probably isn't having a positive effect
    Impressionable teenagers getting just getting into the gym are going to look at him, the fact that he's bigger than they'll ever be, and the fact that he used steroids to get there and, well...what's going to make a bigger difference? His words, telling them to stay natural? Or his actions, which turned him into a Tik Tok/UA-cam star (another thing many young people aspire to be)?
    I don't hate Noel at all, but I still question whether his presence is actually beneficial from a health standpoint, even if his message is positive and his words don't encourage the use of drugs

But there is no miracle substance like that so I'd rather live to see retirement with 2 functioning kidneys instead of looking big for 5 years before dying of a heart attack or slowly wasting away over the course of a decade or 2 as the wreck I've turned my body into slowly crumbles to ruins.

Shit should be treated just like steroids, SARMs might not be built from a sterol group but it hits the AR and causes the same hpta shutdown. Plus half are bunk anyway, and the rest are underdosed. Train hard, eat reasonably well and be patient. If you still want to get on drugs after years of Natty training, they'll still be there. And having that foundation is so hugely underrated, not just for preventing injury but because there's actually physical changes that occur after training consistently that will make whatever you use work better... so great video Geoff, more people need a reality check like this lol.

    Great video! I trained naturally for 20+ years and did my first sarm cycle 2 years at age 56. Waste of time and money, same cost as test cycle, barely any results and I sure got shutdown. I then did a real cycle last summer and another just recently. Huge results and I'll keep using but I'm not an idiot and I know how to train and eat. You're right there's no such thing as one cycle and I read and knew that before I did my first. So many kids ready to use without even had 5 years of hard and smart training and eating. Anyone under 30 using is just asking for trouble.

    To your point about how much should a content creator disclose, I like the way Jujimufu does it. I’ve known a lot of people who take PEDs and they never seem to stay with training; I’ve also known a lot of kids who accused me of steroids because I was bigger th than them naturally.
    The real problem was that they didn’t have a clue how to train.
    I think a focus on powerlifting helped with all of this for me, you can always get stronger, often session to session - and it keeps you away from constantly checking your physique.
    I also always enjoyed being stronger than enhanced athletes or being able to train with my enhanced friends😂 I always find that quite motivating, being able to keep up with enhanced lifters when natty is quite fun

  • @maNg0kR3w
    @maNg0kR3w Рік тому +3

    Another factor which is kind of paradoxical is that advanced natty lifters, that already look really good, don’t even show off their physiques on social media and in real life because they’re happy with themselves and the ones that do show off are the insecure young unnatty lifters. Which just feeds the cycle of young kids hopping on the sauce. In conclusion, I want to thank you Geoffrey, for showing clips of your physique and telling people that it’s achievable naturally. I know if I had seen that as a young teen I would’ve been encouraged by that!

    Definitely got to notice that the spike in increase and also just the general conversation surrounding PEDs has coincided with "normalising the conversation". It's great that the information is out there for it to be done "safely", but there's no denying that there are a lot if people that know about SARMS and tren that would otherwise be nonethewiser.
    I can't be the only one that's just sick of everyone talking about drugs and their efficacy all the time, despite the fact that the people that take these are still very much in the minority.

    RP just did a video about steroids and impact on strength. The research was done by Greg Nuchols I think,
    They figured it was about 10% different between steroid and non-steroid users.
    Granted, part of it is that using typically causes growth, and puts you in a higher weight class, where competing then gets harder. And maybe that's really the point for physique...you grow, and get bigger and bigger.
    I just can't fathom making a choice like that unless you are genetically gifted enough to need every advantage you can get to compete at the top of the game. But then, I'm not young anymore either.

    8:00 What do you have to say about the supra-physiological levels of myonuclei and supra-physiological bone density gained from a cycle? When these gains are had, they are kept for life (providing other hormones are kept in healthy ranges) from what we know from the research - ie once unnatural, always unnatural. Are these supraphysiological levels only obtainable from cycles done post natural limit? I've heard some people make the argument that you can just do a few cycles and bank these gains for life and then stop. Thanks

    Did a cycle of LGD 4033 when I was 18, I am now 21. Was hanging around the wrong group of gym bros which led me to do it but it was also the easy access of information on the internet that made me more comfortable with doing it. I watched a lot of Greg's videos on Sarms but If had not known all of the information that I learned about sarms from his videos then I wouldn't have done it. So It makes sense that even talking about it can encourage young teens to do it as I personally fell victim to that BS. After one cycle I never touched it again as I enjoyed it too much and quickly realized how dangerous this can be for my health if I were to continue. Now I just eat a lot of food, train hard and my progress has been great. I've gained 20+ LBS of lean mass since that cycle, and I say lean mass cuz my BF doesn't fluctuate at all. (Ofc provided that you don't go up two weight classes.) I have just assumed that the natural lifting federation guys must be full of shit since their numbers are similar to the untested divisions. But turns out I was wrong.
    He and many people in the comments of the video are also saying that they know guys who are natty and competing in untested federations and are still very competitive since strenght is very much genetic as you all know, I knew that some people have freak genetics but its pretty cool that they can stomp even competent enhanched athletes.

    I think Noel Deyzel is one of the bigger problems.
    1. He intentionally targets teenagers.
    2. Most of his videos are about not letting haters discourage you from building as much muscle as you want. He recommends cutting people out of your life if they discourage you from getting too big.
    3. He's open about his steroid use, and he talks about the harms… but he's also showing off the benefits and his popularity.
    That seems like the perfect combo to encourage a young guy to take steroids. And it does. He says he gets tons of message from young guys asking him about how to take them.

      @@justingreek6428 I'm not necessarily holding it against him. I don't know him. I'm not trying to judge him. I just think the combination of his talking points, steroid use, and popularity is inspiring people to take steroids.
      I'm not sure teenagers are more likely to give up on lifting weights. In my experience, it seems like a lot of people start lifting in their teens and twenties when they're highly motivated to look their best and don't have as many responsibilities. And then when they become parents who are busy providing for their families, they get too busy and fall off the wagon.
      But my point is, when you're a huge steroid dude, and you're preaching to kids about how nobody should stop you from getting too big, and if they do, you should cut them out of your life… I mean, just imagine the effect that's going to have, right?
      You're going to get kids who want to get big, want to take steroids to do it, and then distance themselves from the people who discourage them from it because they're just "muscle haters" or they don't understand what it's like to want to be a huge bodybuilder or whatever. But these people are teenagers. The chances of them regretting it later in life is HUGE.
