    I continue to learn how to use Epoxy. Do you think I used it wisely or can you provide ways to improve?

    Nice project. Looks great! I really like the epoxy bottom. That shine is a cool effect.

      Thanks a bunch! The Epoxy was a great way to fix the router issue and it turned out amazing.

    Good recovery on this project. Can you put food in the epoxy? Could look cool if there are candies right in the tray itself🤔

      Yes you can! The epoxy I used was food safe and that is a very interesting idea. I may try to embed some items in my next epoxy project.

      Finishing touches that you love will make it much more personal, so absolutely go ahead and do a routed outer edge :)

    Very nice, I’ve always thought of trying epoxy but it’s very expensive to buy in my country, I guessing a template for the router could be self made from plywood?

      Hello @expatmoose! Am I guessing that you grew up in the North but have moved based on your handle? You are absolutely right that you could make the template out of plywood. Sorry to hear about the cost of epoxy and it is definitely not cheap where I live either.

    What blade are you using on your bandsaw? I have a similar Laguna bandsaw and am looking to get some different blades.

    • @standishwoodstory
      @standishwoodstory  10 місяців тому

      I was using a 3/16 10 teeth blade (proforce) and I liked it but it snapped on me when needed to cut a curve in some walnut, so I just ordered a 1/4 inch 6 teeth blade instead (also proforce) which will be a little trickier for tight curves but will hopefully hold up better to denser wood. I hate changing the blade so I try to get away with one blade for 90% of my work. I also have a great resaw blade but I rarely use it as I don’t need to cut to many straight cuts on my bandsaw.

    How long did it take you to make this and do you have to change router bits if you used soft wood?

    • @standishwoodstory
      @standishwoodstory  10 місяців тому

      The router part of the project was maybe an hour at most but mostly due to me taking some time to figure out how to fix my mistake after the router bit incident! Softer woods are faster to carve out but no need to change the bits :)
