Should You Buy a VQ35 or a VQ37?

NOTE: I did forget to mention the vq35hr engines, they come with 303 HP and dual throttle bodies but only in 1 year of g35 and 2 in the 350z.

the G35 sedans are also actually lighter than the coupe. Depending on model some come with the revup motor which has dual variable cam timing vs only exhaust on standard vq.
the vq37vhr has an oil gallery gasket issue (really bad if it fails) that was supposedly was fixed in later years 2010-2012 ish era i believe.
Also you cannot put intake cams on a vq37 as they use vvel and use intake valve lift to control throttle instead of throttle body. Vq35hr heads will bolt up to 37 block though as they are the Same pn.
In case anyone was wondering a fully ready to run vq37vhr with all wiring accy, oil tranny with fluids flywheel and headers weighs in at 650. (Happen to have recently weighed mine!)

@@jamesalbright6155 hit up hexa garage for wiring harness service. Jorge knocked out mine to be a standalone race harness for my 72 datsun pickup in a couple weeks.
Really took the headache out of the swap.

i use motul oil on my DE 180k now not a droop oil and not oil catch either installed

I would only go g37 if it's an IPL edition. I'll stick with the 07 g35 manual with final drive diff w/CD009.
And of course the 1st gen 03 sedan (wife's car in my pic that I built)

You should only get a vq35 if it’s an HR in the 350z. Otherwise the VHR motor is much better than the 35DE and the revup is the worst VQ motor

My g35 is an 06, if you get a good deal on the G get it for sure 👍
