    These motors are basically bulletproof. i worked at Infiniti for about 6 years and we only had 1 VQ37 engine swap in a 6 year span due to the driver redlining the vehicle every time it was driven for about 4 years. The VR30DDTT on the other hand we had about 2 swaps a week on those engines. VQ's are just superior.

    He ain't lyin about the reliability and it being bulletproof. My 2009 370 now has 207,000 on the clock and still runs like new, only "major" repair its ever needed, was an alternator at 150k miles, seriously. Hands down best car I have ever, or will ever own.

    I am so happy that God gave me one of those VQ37VHR. The engine sound is amazing, also it is reliable, durable, well known and fast. And the car itself has a great sound system and excellent quality materials and style for the price. All my cars have been from japan, and I like the fact that they share parts (Infiniti/Nissan) and as my previous car, they are also easy to mantain. They are easy to sell, the next buyer knows he is buying a durable car.
    Everytime I drive this car with this engine VQ37, I enjoy it so much. 😍

    really great car. i own a 2010 g37 sedan and its been my favorite car. i got it at 49k miles and didn't have any major issues until 145k miles which in part is my fault. the car overheated and due to the aluminum block, got a crack in it and currently swapping out the engine for one with 58k miles on it. lesson learned, aluminum blocks cannot withhold a lot of pressure, my car slightly overheated and blew a gasket and got a hairline crack on the block other than that great engine!

      @@RubberChickenMan007 You sure about that? the 6speed transmission can handle 800hp stock (of course it will need a racing clutch though) with a very good notch feel also being the first to introduce rev matching. Both the engine and the transmission from the 370z has been used in a lot of swaps, one of them being a 2JZ engine and a 370z 6-speed transmission in a 240Z to push out 600whp+. The only part in the transmission that needs to be swaped out is the CMC cause the stock one is made of plastic instead of the metal aftermarket version, everything else is bullet proof on the 6 speed.
      the 7at can only handle up to 450hp but there is an aftermarket billet sold by Fast intentions to increase its handle output to 1000whp. Although i do admit the paddle shifters arent as responsive as the GTRs dual clutch auto, but its also used in the infiniti red sport 400

      The 6spd manuals are great, I was referring to the auto. I hate it with a passion and there's practically nothing I can do about it for now. The only upgrade I've seen so far is swapping the auto trans from the q50 provided the valve body from the G is moved over. The trans from the q50 is much beefier and I think it shifts better.
      It also blows that there's no dip stick to service the trans fluid or filter on these. Granted, there are ways to change the fluid, but it's a pain in the ass.

    If you eliminate the exhaust restrictions, it's feasible to gain 40 wheel hp with a tune. My 370z touring exhaust was 1.75" at the Y pipe and overall the exhaust was restrictive. I installed test pipes with 400 cell Magnaflow cats as the only restriction plus a 2.5 inch dual x-piped exhaust with only K&N drop ins on the intake and gained that much on a dynojet tuning session. There is significant power to be gained with bolt on equipment and a tune, but it gets expensive really quickly. Great engine! Hopefully I'll not have to deal with the oil gallery leak that can happen to a pre 13 engine.

I have the 2010 G37 Vert with K&N filters, two new catalytic converters, new water pump, timing chain, some type of gaskets, camshaft position sensor and other preventative maintenance done to it when my water pump went out and now I get right at 339-340 horsepower that you can really feel! I beat a G37 coupe the other day that got the jump on me from a dig and passed by him in about three 3 seconds while he was full throttle! I'm at 250,700 plus miles and this car still snaps you back into the seat. My 7at is smooth and responsive because I know the pedal position to reach the desired or quick response operation or just flick it into sport mode for instant gratification!

    • @adamedwards4536
      @adamedwards4536 3 роки тому +4

      kinda I guess, but it’s really a choice of reliability or power. the n54 will have to have way more boost to make the same power as the vq, considering the vq makes the same stock as an N54, meaning one of those six cylinders is far less efficient. but the N motors will handle more power and boost than the VQ can, but then again you got your list of N series issues, Vanos, gaskets, hpfp, water pump, etc. while the VQ doesn’t have any major failure points. honestly when I was consider what can I wanted, I was debating between a g37 and 335i, and just decided to get the g37 now for reliability’s sake, and 335i later down the road and build both, it’s hard to choose

      Anyone may correct me if I’m wrong but from the years of 09-11, the 370z didn’t come with an oil cooler. I assume that was a huge part of their overheating/engine blowing issue. Even though the OE oil cooler produced after 2012 isn’t that great either which is why I need to purchase the Z1 oil cooler.

    • @videomaniac108

      I have a 2019 370z sport coupe 6M and the oil does run hot in stop and go city driving on warm days, about 220⁰F. Nissan did improve the oil to water intercooler, but the oil still tends to run hot. This is due to the VVEL mechanism that puts a lot of contact pressure on the oil that heats it up. The Nissan ester oil that I use in it tends to shear down from it's nominal 30 weight grade to a 20 grade after about 3k miles, which is when I change it. The good thing is that my engine uses virtually no oil, after the careful break in I gave it.

    I'd say the gains with a tune and cost effective bolt-ons goes a long way. My G37 stock put down 272 HP on a dynojet. After, I had 2.5" madrells installed, no cats, X-pipe and a Borla muffler. With this it went up to 290HP pre-tune and 307 post tune (Mustang Dyno). I'm still running the stock intakes with K&N filters. Mine is a 7 speed AT which I thought I'd regret because I couldn't find a good manual one to buy, but I don't. With the same tune I was able to get the TQ management tables raised which allows it to shift hard and chirp tires all the way to 3rd at WOT. If I wanted to boost it to 500 HP, I'd prefer to keep the same auto trans and reinforce it; there are a few companies that do it. With the current settings, the shifts feel like a DCT.

    • @brokeq50boi80
      @brokeq50boi80 11 місяців тому +1

      Well for the trans. There’s 2 weak points when boosting it. The flex plate and the torque converter. Because otherwise the trans in the vr q50/60’s are really similar mechanically. But because of the better flex plate and torque converter the vr trans hold 600-700 before needing a built trans. But honestly if you do transmission cooler and a aftermarket flex plate if you plan on doing about 500 your stock trans should be fine.

    The VQ37HR is not as efficient as the VR38, it is close. The VR Bore is 98 mm with the same 86mm stroke. VR38 also has, the same deck height and since the bore is slightly larger, so are the Valves and their arrangement within the larger Bore. The VVT and the Twins also are an improvement. As a matter of fact the VR38 VE table is 3-6% more [86%-83% at 7000RPM/ 96%-90% @55000RPM)) and thus, has a bit more flow.[ (Air Volume/Cycle)/(Displacement)].
    The VQHR is one hell of an engine : the VR38 is simply an incremental improvement, but the VR38 is the slightly better engine. I am making 925 Engine HP with Stock Internals [E85 using ECUTEK] and upgraded Turbos. Again, the VQ is nothing to "sneeze" at!!! NISSAN did a great job with the VQ37HR and thanks for your learned review of the VQ37HR, you are extremely knowledgeable: very refreshing with all the "crap" on the Internet!
