    Thank you for this video, got a lot of crabgrass that came in late and waiting till the Fall to pre-emergent drop of tenacity before my follow up renovation, just wasn't sure when and how until your video.
    Have you ever considered using a battery powered backpack sprayer when doing applications? It is a game-charger spraying any lawn. I've gotten mine, Sprayers Plus 105Ex, off the recommendation of Ryan Knorr (I am not sponsored nor receive anything to say that) and it really did reduce the HOURS I spent spraying everything. Good luck and keep with it!

      As a follow up, I put down a layer of tenacity two days ago (Sept 9) to kill and focused on the large sections of crabgrass in the front yard (full sun in Southern Indiana; could be 55 or 85 depending on the day or time of day). I waited a couple days but was aerating the rest of my property last weekend so wouldn't hurt to do the front. Going to give the (hopefully dead) crabbies a second post-emg drop of tenacity in a couple weeks but it's looking to be pretty hot (89-91) and I don't want it to burn off and be for naught. So far looking deader than with numerous drive xlr8 applications in time for more dirt and seeding in the true fall. Wish me luck. Keep it up, HamPan!

      @@alexschmitt9317 crabgrass dies out in the fall on its own you want to use a pre emergent in the spring to reduce and crabgrass then aerate and overseed the best protection against crabgrass is a thick lawn just killing crabgrass over and over will just make things worse if you're not thickening up your lawn.

    For your lawn, next season, I recommend you zone spray your lawn with Tenacity and Speed zone. This combine with the surfactant should be able to kill about 90% to 99% of all of your weeds. Also you need to get a sprayer that spray a fan spray so that it evenly coat the weeds. After you kill all these weeds, use some milogarnite to fertilize and wait until fall to do an overseeding. I guarantee your lawn will look flawless the season after that. Your soil seems to be very hard clay. You should aerate your lawn before overseeding for best result. Good luck!

    I’m no expert but here are my thoughts: use a larger backpack sprayer with fan spray that method looked very tedious. If you want to be precise there is a process for calibrating your sprayer. You should wear PPE when using this product! Cover all skin and wear a respirator. Yes you absolutely should use surfactant, it’s not an option unless you’re spraying it on dirt. Be careful when filling your sprayer not to let the water spray out like in your video as that can make the product come out. If you’re doing a post emergent then make sure to repeat 2 weeks later. Sorry not trying to be critical your video is actually pretty good and helpful but I felt like adding my 2 cents.

    Suggestion for all who use hand sprayers, upgrade upgrade upgrade. The new battery power sprayers are quite amazing. Don't spend time and energy pumping. Also the spray controls are far better. A fine mist using tenacity goes a long way then you can always come back later and spot spray anything you missed. Make lawn care an enjoyable pastime not frowned upon chore.

    People have a severe misunderstanding of how these products work. They certainly aren't miracle yard fixers. I am by no means in a position to explain what you need, but I know to fix a yard in the condition yours is in needs a lot more help than just spraying weed killers.
    Certain types of grass do not spread by themselves so all those bare spots may not heal on their own and if left bare will certainly make weeds easier to take over despite all the weed killer applications. The weed killers don't last that long and certain weeds are so persistent that you have to continue to monitor those areas and hit them again when the keep coming back or dig them up if they are that embedded.
    At some point you need to start over seeding the entire lawn and also getting those bare spots filled with grass. Getting your grass to grow properly and maintaining a proper 3" or so height is a big key in keeping the weeds at bay.
    It's a big and time consuming process getting a lawn in to shape and I'm absolutely no real source on how to do it. My main goal for my lawn is just to keep the major tall weeds under control that make the lawn look like absolute garbage within 3 days of cutting. All the low level weeds like clover don't bother me much. Those I can deal with over time.

    • @hammerandrake
      @hammerandrake  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks, you are absolutely right. It takes time and dedication. I am also seeding in the fall and expecting a couple of years for the lawn to settle down
