Thanks Steve for showcasing my system, it was great to see it in there amongst all the other superb systems. It always amazes me to see how diverse peoples choices to hi-fi are, but when it all comes down to it the reason we all have them is to enjoy the music, and long may that continue.

I was amazed at how many of these people are into vinyl. I had to wonder how many of them have been long term vinyl fans (like myself) buying vinyl because that's all there was, and how many have recently gotten into the vinyl hobby due to it's growing popularity. The truth is that I don't spend much time breaking out my vinyl anymore and use my streamer / DAC 95% of the time.

Thanks for showing off my big Tannoys. Most of my componentsl boughtnew so it'staken a longtimetogettothis point. My oldest component is a 25 year old dCS Verdi transport and my latest purchase was their Bartok dac, not Apex. Speakers are around 15 years old and they do need the matching super tweeters as the main 2" tweeters seriously start to roll off after 15k. The amp is a little special as its the opposite to most tube integrated amps. It uses a solid state pre section so no small tubes only 4x KT 88 tubes for the power. The room is square so its a nightmare for standing waves. Point source speakers help and there's lots of bass treatments behind those thin curtains. The sub only plays between 45-55 just to fill in the hole around 50 caused by the room.

My Tannoy system that Steve shows is expensive but it took 35 years to get there. Its a hobby and often the journey is the whole point. Every few years replace one item for a little bit better one "investing " in the system. If you buy quality used items then often you can sell them on for the price you paid, sometimes more.

the elephant is still in almost all of these rooms - the lack of modern room treatments using up to date scientific data. The owners of these systems are not getting a decent return on the money spent on them. Like buying a Porsche and then mounting cheap tires on steel wheels...
