What rod would you recommend for gag grouper offshore in the gulf? Link says penn carnage but doesnt say which one. Doing a hubbards 12 hr trip early September. I have a Shimano Torium 16PG 33#s of drag, 50# braid with 20' of 80# topshot leader connected with a FG knot, would this be okay to use?
@@tylerpepe8226 The link may be expired I apologize! I would recommend a 6'6"-7' boat rod rated for that size braid. Shimano makes some really nice rods, Penn carnage or even Star Rods are nice. Your braid and leader combo are perfect for that! amzn.to/3VYS0S1 is an updated link for Penn Carnage
I love trolling! We do it in some deeper water but I want to try the crystal river area this fall with my flats boat, I'm just a little nervous about rocks since I've only fished there once
@@NickeeGee take the channel out and troll the north public reef in 17' of water and you'll find some. Or the edge of the barge canal. No rocks to worry about if you don't leave the channel heading out. Launch in the river somewhere, or the barge canal ramp.
@@capt.justinwhaley-jwfishin6896 thanks Justin! Idk if you remember me but me and my friend saw you out in ozello one day in your jet boat while we were launching a Jon boat!
Idk how I caught one off a shrimp
Everything eats a shrimp!

It's almost here! Like a kid waiting for Christmas!
What do you think about shallow water trolling, 15 - 20 feet deep, we do that in the crystal River area in fall and winter ?
