My wife and I are in the area for work. Was crossing the Skyway yesterday and wondered if Grouper was being caught there. Now I know the answer. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit, and upload these videos. You are a wealth of knowledge to those that fish 🙌👊
I give props to anyone landing grouper on the skyway I hate it, and I keep trying too, yet only end up feeding dolphins and losing them in the structure, attempted it yesterday so it will be a while before I get bored enough to attempt again
As also...awesome video. I always do well with the mangrove snapper at the south pier. But watching you latest grouper videos has me hooked. Just purchased a rod/reel for grouper fishing. Also what's the brand of the sling back pack...looks for functional.
What lb test are you using? I wouldn’t attempt this type of combat fishing anything lighter that 40lb, switch leader to 60lb if they break that. You have to be able to stop the fish from getting into the rocks and if they do get in, you have a chance to finesse them out. You’ll get fewer bites but much better odds when you do hook up. Tight lines 🤙
You should make a video on how you throw your cast net. I throw mine with part of it on my shoulder but im tired of getting wet everytime I go to throw it again.

Right now the water is too hot for inshore grouper. Better off to fish for snapper and mackerel. Skyway grouper fishing produces a lot of shorts, with a keeper once in a while. Been there, done that. But if you use small enough pinfish or grunts or sand perch, you might catch other species. The biggest flounder I ever caught was while fishing live bait for grouper at the South Skyway pier.
🌴 hey bro , well St Pete faired well , just a bit of flooding, but it sure jacked up the water, I guess will see when the fish’n gets better, ( they gotta eat ) October, they made a couple of rule changes on the skyway pier , because of birds getting hooked, only two poles , sabki lines with only three hooks and some other schooling crap ? 👈🏻🤔 at least the grouper are down there the problem is keeping em out of the holes , 🤣👊🏼👍🏼

I caught a huge flounder free lining pinfish for grouper on the north pier! It measured 19 inches. Probably my biggest yet
nice tip for span mackerel, pinfish and crappie jigs👍👍
White bucktails of any type are killer on the spanish, heck even I can catch 'em !

You can’t use sabiki rigs from November 15th to March 15th on the skyway pier! But you can use the rig I was using in the video is just 1 hook

Squid is so much better for me when catching pin fish. It last longer on the hook. Not that you seem to have trouble but for the new people.
